Mother’s Day weekend & dined out twice in Birkdale! Bistrot Verite is by far the all round winner locally for high quality produce, a substantial well established family business offering great service & good selection of realistically priced wines. Consistently fabulous food & always a new twist on menu favourites Delicious deserts. Well Done to Bistrot Verite.

I keep coming back with both friends and family as both the food and service are both consistently of such a high standard. Two steaks tonight. A filet off the menu and a sirloin (roast) special. Beautifully cooked and delicious including all the veggies. One Prawn (plus smoked salmon and avocado) Cocktail and one Chicken Liver Paté to start (both superb) and there was no chance of managing a pudd unfortunately ☹️ Thanks to all the team. The food from beginning to end was simply sensational. Well done to all the kitchen team on producing food that clearly shows pride in the produce, stunning flavour combinations and great care and attention to detail when plating. The front of house team were also very welcoming, friendly and attentive, with nothing being any bother. We visited Bistrot Verite for the first time on a rare date night, and it was certainly a night to remember. My husband has raved about the food (as have I) ever since, and we are certainly making plans to return again soon, maybe with the family in tow!

We visited on Thursday evening and as usual the place was fully booked. As always food and service was excellent. I have been going to this bistro for years and never disappointed. It’s consistently good. Friendly atmosphere.

Fantastic restaurant. Had snails, garlic bread with cheese and olives for entree. The garlic bread was superb. Very strong garlic flavour with the beautiful cheese on top. The snails didn't have enough garlic for me but that's just my own opinion. The main courses we had were the chicken vol au vent and the rump lamb. The vol au vent was the better of the 2. Very flavoursome chicken with melted camambert in the middle of the vol au vent. The lamb was nice but I misheard the waiter and though he said lamb shank. I may have ordered the breem instead. But still it wasn't bad at all. The vegetables it came with were great. For dessert we had creme brulee and apple pie with custard. Both excellent. Overall a fantastic meal. Definitely recommend Top banana

Heard good things & because we lived a train stop away thought we’d make an effort. So glad we did!!! The welcome, friendly & efficient team and food was out of this world!!! The menu is extensive and French biased. Large menus is usually an indicator of trying too hard but not at Bistro Vérité!!! Every course was as good as it gets. Just booked again and can’t wait!!!

It's been a number of years since we visited this restaurant, simply because life gets in the way! however today we went as guests of my sister and brother in law. As ever the food and ambience were superb! This is a family run restaurant, and you can tell! Because the care that goes into the food. The hosting, the wine, is as you would prepare for your own family, attention to detail, huge portions, flavours to make your taste buds cry in delight! We had rabbit, crab, brie, the best French onion soup ever! Creme brulee , crumble..... fish and chips... perfection. The staff haven't changed, because they are excellent, and obviously enjoy working there, it is Michelin starred, but its not pretentious, you feel welcome as soon as you enter, and seriously the food is amazing! We will be going back as soon as we can book a table! ( its a very popular restaurant) Thankyou Marc Micheala, for a delicious delightful experience and my beautiful sister and bro in law for inviting us !

We had our anniversary here on 23 December and had the most perfect evening. Fantastic staff, incredible food and atmosphere. We went into the bar afterwards and it was great. Charlie and the other bar man were brilliant, despite being very busy they added to a great buzz. The best place to spend an evening by a country mile! Thanks guys.

Food was exceptional as always , but the service let it down. We visited in November and thought the same then, hence the review. A couple of the front of house staff are not focused on their job whilst one of them is really professional. Our drinks were just dumped on the corner of our table while the waiter rushed off to do something else. Another took our food order while continually speaking to someone in the kitchen at the same time. After the meal it took ages to get the bill. They tend to focus on the regulars rather than all customers. Get your customer service back to how it used to be - on par with the amazing food. It used to be a real treat but I won’t be spending that much money when the service doesn’t live up to the expectation

My first visit to celebrate my sisters birthday, have to say the food, wine and service was great, I hope to return soon. The team are so friendly and professional, the food is amazing, we all had different dishes but my duck was amazing. The menu is very interesting with lots at variety and reasonably priced. The ambiance is great, a real authentic bistro atmosphere, hopefully see you soon.

Fantastic lunch. Wonderful staff. Smart and very well informed. Our meals we could not fault. Mussels, crab Thermidor and chicken, all perfectly cooked, really well presented and served by fantastic staff. Will certainly be back soon.

Absolutely beautiful food gorgeous atmosphere can’t wait to return soon! The waiter told us about the specials I got the goats cheese and a wonderful fish dish was so well presented and tons of flavour. My husband tried the wood pigeon which he said was also outstanding. Such a great place wonderful bustling atmosphere and great food.

Very much a mixed bag. For a change, I'll bullet-point the good, the so-so, and the not so good. Good - atmosphere, menu selection, wine selection, starter of goat's cheese, mains of pigeon. The latter two were absolutely excellent. So-so - starter of pate, mains of fish and chips (despite the fish being plonked on top of the mushy peas, leading to the fish having a "soggy bottom"), dessert of apple crumble (despite the crumble not being "proper" crumble), and service ( I had spilt something on the table after my mains, but it was left there for the rest of the meal). Not so good - apostrophe abuse on the main page of the web site, and the appallingly bad profiteroles ( a steak knife to cut through them would have been advisable). The confirmation of my on-line booking also referred to the fact that I had been "approved" for my booking - what investigative methods are used to approve me? The chairs were a bit hard, causing my wife to fidget uncomfortably after about 45 minutes. So, a little bit of a curate's egg. If the restaurant can replicate the excellence of the "good" items elsewhere, apply small alterations to the "so-so" items, and eliminate the "not so good" items, then a stunning venue will surely result.

Really top quality food - loved it! Started with Oysters - from Lindesfarne absolutely fresh and stunning with shallots and added a dash of Tabasco. Last time I had oysters that good, they were taken straight from the sea. Similarly with the Mussels superb, not had better ones, since the ones taken from the ropes of the mussel farm in Kotor Bay. Tempura prawns with Asian salad, and Stornaway black pudding and cheese tart top notch. My first visit - so annoying I didn’t visit sooner. As Arnie said - I’ll be back!

Heard so many fantastic reviews from friends about this restaurant, so we were delighted to be able to book a table during a visit to Southport. Wonderful place and totally exceeded expectations. Most highly recommended.

We visited for my friend’s birthday . There were 4 of us . Our meal was fantastic . The food was so fresh and beautifully presented offering decent sized portions too . This is the best place in town . It is well run , the atmosphere and ambience is also lovely . They have acquired the premises next door where they have a bar area where we were able to have aperitifs whilst waiting for our table . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you're looking for a small restaurant that makes it of 'jus' and alot of 'puree', then bistro verite is your place. If they put as much effort into their protein meat, like they do their sauces they might be able to serve a good plate of food. Below average, tasteless. Very overrated.

We booked a week in advance and could only get a table at lunch as dinner was full. Lunch menu is different from evening menu. Moules was advertised as a starter and the restaurant kindly allowed me to have a larger portion as my main course with fries of course. My companions ordered pork chop which they said was the best pork chop they had ever had. Of course, it came with garnishes, sauces and other ingredients. Puddings were impressive. Cheese and biscuits was tasty. The atmosphere was nice and we all enjoyed our lunch.

We went on Saturday lunch, booked well ahead. The staff were marvelous, courteous and friendly. The food was wonderful and great size portions, with depth of flavour. Desserts to die for - could have any of them. Will be back.

I hadn't been to Verité for a yonks and now having been, I can honestly say 'all the wasted years!"Food was superb and the atmosphere similar. We sat outside, which was great as there was live music in the bar opposite and the whole village was 'alive.' We could have easily been in Spain, it was that atmospheric.Outside heaters if required also.The menu is varied and the prices good. You can pay a lot or a little. Absolutely I will return.

Another amazing visit. The standard of food is exceptional and the staff friendly yet professional. The atmosphere is lovely- hustle and bustle yet relaxed. The parmesan truffle crackers are to die for. Can’t wait for our next visit. Thank you for your hospitality and Tandoori prawns- wow!!

My wife and I dined here on Tuesday evening with our friends. The dining room was busy for midweek night but we soon found out why, the food, drink and service was fantastic from start to finish, empty plates for each course.If you are in the Birkdale area, don’t miss this gem.

Finally got to experience this almost legendary restaurant. It was incredibly busy and I know you have to book a long way in advance. Interesting and varied menu none of which was cheap but it was well cooked, presented and tasty, with I felt, making good use of locally sourced ingredients. Staff ran around like headless chickens so it was a little chaotic at times and maybe they need more staff front of house. I’m glad I’ve been and sure I will return but maybe on a quieter night .

I had a Korean hotdog which was dipped in batter with hot sauce and it once really good- once I had it, I wanted to buy it a million times! It's definitely good for families.

Delicious meal. We booked to eat early on Tuesday evening, it was full and a nice atmosphere. They have done a good job of putting all the tables outside mostly undercover. Luckily it was good weather. Interesting menu, combination of some traditional French dishes but also some Asian influences. Very covid secure with all staff wearing masks, cleaning tables between sittings and cutlery delivered on a separate plate. Excellent service and so lovely to finally be able to eat out at a fine dining type of restaurant.

A fantastic evening spent here with my partner celebrating our anniversary. Each dish was delicious - there was a great atmosphere and staff provided us with a very welcoming, friendly service. We both look forward to visiting again in the near future to try more of their menu.

Paul was attentive and charming throughout our whole meal. The restaurant was wonderfully decorated and what a Christmas tree ! We were seated in the window by the door which was lovely and cosy and never once did we feel cold or a draft .The food was of a high standard . My wife ordered a blu steak and it was perfect . It was or Wedding anniversary and it was a late decision to go out for a meal I'd been Browsing on Facebook that week and I spotted this lovely looking rice pudding And it was bistro Verite had shared it And a picture of black pudding scotch egg the looked absolutely so tasty so that was the place I Wanted to go but because it was 6:30 on Friday night I thought there was no chance but I rang and spoke to a lady and She offered me a table outside which she did say to bring some blankets and it's very very cosy and they've got heaters So with 3 blankets at the ready we went well by the 15 minutes i was tearing the layers off I was so warm and cosy she was right it was very Pleasant please don't be put off by sitting outside Cos we were so warm and i wasn't drinking lol Straight away we were greeted at the door we had our mask on the staff had visors on when I went to the loo masks had to be worn and ther were Sanitising stations inside and out plus when we sat down we were asked to fill in or Details so the food o my Gosh I had black pudding scotch egg it came just like I Saw on Facebook It melted in my mouth my husband had goatcheese with fig Chutney salad For Starter well the Voices coming from him I think he enjoyed it Main courses I had lamb shank Which fell off the bone it was beautiful and accompanied with red cabbage and Beet root it was a plate full off Beautiful flavours and textures and it looked lovely My husband had the rabbit he said was so so nice I tasted the sauce and it was beautiful it was a blue cheese sauce we were so full but i cud not leave with having The rice pudding with peaches and candid walnuts it was rich it was hot and i was not Disappointed this Restaurant is a gem And we will definitely be back we were so looked after Even though we were outside we felt like we were part of the restaurant and we would Definitely have a table outside again so please don't be put off if there's no spaces inside ask for a table outside

Having read the rave reviews here we were expecting something a bit special. Perhaps we ordered the wrong things or perhaps we were just unlucky.The food was ok, although the olives tasted as though they were straight out of a jar and the crab main course contained almost no identifiable crab.Most of the diners appeared to be regulars and they seemed to be very satisfied.For the prices charged I certainly expected my taste buds to be more excited. The service was prompt but rather off hand (and yes I know that facemasks don't help).

The menu is simple - the food is not! Verite elevate classics to another level! The only difficulty is deciding what to order. The staff make it feel special but not pretentious and the price isn’t fair for the food and experience: highly recommend for a wonderful experience.

We had the pleasure of enjoying a lovely meal at this very traditional restaurant. The menu was a bit limited, obviously due to Covid, but our choices were delicious. My partner chose the mussels to start and absolutely loved them, I thought the portions could have been slightly more generous but she was delighted. For mains she had the sea bass and I had chicken. Both were excellently cooked and just could not management a sweet.I had no complaints and would highly recommend this restaurant.

I don’t like to give 5 stars but I struggled to find fault with my evening, so well done to Bistro Verite. The service is good. We arrived 10 minutes early and we were asked to sit outside while they got our table ready. We received menus and drinks in that time so absolutely no complaints from me. The COVID precautions were excellent-well spaces out tables, all staff in visors, hand sanitiser available.The most important thing is obviously the food and this I couldn’t fault. I had the pate and meats starter. Nicely put together and pretty generous portions. My main was the sea bass, nicely cooked and in the most gorgeous sauce. Finished off with cheese board-good selection and plenty of crackers for a change (why do restaurants skimp on the crackers?).All in all, a pleasant evening in pleasant surroundings with good food and great service. Hence my 5 stars.
