Blas at Fronlas in Pembrokeshire

My favourite place to stay in the world.. always stay with work and Martina and Jason are the friendliest people I’ve met would recommend to anyone 10 times out of 10

We were disappointed by our lunch. Bacon and Brie Panini was so thin hardly any brie. No cheese oozing out. Ham and mixed leaves sandwich. Ham was fine but don't call cos lettuce mixed leaves. Sorry.

Stayed for two nights whilst visiting friends. Could not have been made more welcome, spotlessly clean and food excellent. (We even brought some of the cawl home with us). We had our dog with us and he was equally welcomed. Will definitely return. Penny

We’d left it a bit late for lunch but no problem. Lovely food, good portions and a nice pot of tea. Rustic and cosy interior. Good experience all round. Will be back.

Really lovely food in a lovely place and made to feel very welcome. We were offered a bowl of water for our two Whippets. Not our first visit and won't be the last. Going back soon. 😁❤️

The food here is tasty but it’s such an uncomfortable experience I wouldn’t return. One of the staff goes out of her way to make certain visitors feel unwelcome. I think for us it was our dog that upset her ( usually we receive lots of compliments about his behaviour he’s well behaved ). We did give it two tries but left immediately on the second go when her scowl sent us packing! It’s a shame because the other staff seemed lovely.

Fantastic place, really enjoy going here, been a few times over the years when in the area. Always have the Welsh beef cawl and it never disappoints. Will hopefully pop in on Wednesday for another serving before driving home on Wednesday

This place is amazing! Always have a lovely time visiting. They went out of their way to create a private lunch for our family the day after our wedding. The food was delicious and the service wonderful! The garden out the back is such a sun trap.

We were welcomed warmly by Martina and some of her staff who helped us with luggage and made us at home. The rooms were well presented and the facilities fully explained. Each day we enjoyed their excellent and ample breakfast and as a result needed no lunch. A request for granola cereal and fruit (not on the menu) was cheerfully accepted. One of our group was a coeliac which was fully understood and catered for. Service was prompt and with a smile from whichever staff were on duty: They were happy to chat between dealing with us and the many customers. The bedrooms were small but well laid out with good en suites including efficient showers. The beds were of double size but comfortable. The lounge on the top floor was for our exclusive use with refreshments a TV and a frig and is comfortable and offers good views of Newport. Any issues with the rooms were promptly addressed by Jason. The only one he couldn't do anything about was the noise from outside in the morning from trucks and vans going about their business, but it didn't harm our sleep.

Two of us stopped here for lunch on Friday afternoon. Great service, friendly and helpful.There is quite an extensive menu to suit everyone. It is certainly worth dropping in if you are in Newport.

Bras at Fronlas in Newport is a pearl at the Welsh west coast. The B&B has two well equipped and very clean rooms and a nice lounge at the top floor with a great view on the surroundings. Breakfast, of a very broad choice, is in the cosy restaurant at ground floor. Whatever we chose tasted magnificent, not to mention the coffee which is beyond anything we have tasted in the UK before. No wonder the place is always full with guest during all opening hours. But it is the staff that gives the place a scent of magic. Tina and Jason with Claire, Daisy and the others provided an atmosphere (and “hygge” as we say in Danish) that was so warm, loving and inviting that we all felt very very welcome and well taken care of. Definitely the place to visit when in Wales.

What a fantastic place. Went there for lunch which was superb. Small and compact but the service and food was exceptional. So good that we went back for breakfast and then breakfast baguettes to take away. Open for breakfasts and lunch but not evening meals. I will be back 10/10

Pretty expensive. 19 quid for two bacon sandwiches and a pot of tea. For pembs that's pretty wild.

Menu for Sunday lunch was very poor. Limited to baguettes with a) bacon b) sausage and c) bacon and sausage. And there are no tomatoes, salad or any sauce with it. You get baguette and bacon/sausage for £6.50. Maybe chef is on vacation because on my previous visits food was good. Service was fast and friendly.

Beautiful restaurant, fantastic atmosphere and very attentive staff I had the best Ploughman’s Lunch ever. The quality of the ingredients was exceptional. It was big enough to share but I didn’t realise that until after we ordered!!! Haha

Called in for lunch and decided to share the seafood platter. It was fabulous. Really tasty pate with great smoked salmon and prawns. Ridiculous as it sounds it could have been improved with a bit more of the delicious bread even if it meant a reduction in the quantity of the seafood

We had a fantastic lunch here en route to Newport Sands. The ambience was great; laid back tunes floating over the sun-trap garden. The service was great; friendly, attentive, helpful. The food was great; we sampled the quiche, the beef cawl, and the rarebit which were all delicious. We will certainly be back.

We came here on the recommendation that they did great breakfasts, but we were a little underwhelmed. The coffees were very good but the breakfast menu was quite limited. They had gluten free toast available (bread rolls) but the scrambled eggs were poor quality and our bread had not even been buttered, nor did it come with any butter. We didn’t go back sadly.

I had a very tasty Fisherman's platter and partner had cheese and ham panini, both delicious and good portions .... friendly, relaxed atmosphere , good choice of dishes, happy to recommend

Stayed here for 2 nights , really lovely place , bedrooms really clean and comfortable. The room upstairs is also great for sitting and enjoying the views over Newport bay. Excellent hosts, nothing was too much trouble for Martine and Jason

A delightful casual lunch for four of us. Beautifully complex lentil soup with spinach, sweet potato, etc and a surprising little pop of cardamom. Others had the Welsh classic ‘camel’, a jolly prawn and smoked salmon salad and a piping hot Welsh leek and ham pie: all creamy and lovely. Had a takeaway breakfast during covid restrictions. They had made good outdoor seating at the front and back of the shop, unfortunately the heavy rain meant it wasn’t nice to sit out. The breakfasts (one regular and one vegetarian) were really nice, the veggie sausages were particularly noteworthy. Nice service too.

A very special place to stay, comfy stylish rooms and lovely sitting area, but what makes this an extra special place to stay is the super friendly staff, Lyndsey and her team go above and beyond to make you feel so welcome and looked after. delicious breakfast, great coffee, yummy cakes! Very covid secure,we felt v safe. And all set in the small but perfectly formed Newport, with wonderful walking along the Pembrokeshire coast path! Highly recommended!!Read less

Lovely lunch, delicious! We had a large portion of quiche & a ploughman’s board, really enjoyed it. We wanted cake, as they looked wonderful but we were too full. The staff were very welcoming. & friendly even during a really busy lunchtime.

We just popped in for coffee and cakes and it was a lovely warm welcome for us and our dog. The cake and coffee were first class - I had welsh cakes and they were the best I've eaten I think! They are coping with the Covid restrictions really well and still make you feel at home and very welcome. Will come again, definitely.

I ordered an orange and almond cake to be made for a family birthday and it was absolutely delicious as well as incredibly good value. Would definitely recommend and was tempted to pop back for another slice in the cafe once we finished the whole of the one we ordered!

Blas at Fronlas is a regular destination when on holiday in Newport. And this year did not disappoint. We returned a couple of times for breakfast, excellent coffee and delicious toast. We heard COVID has been challenging - thanks for staying open !

We stopped here for lunch two days in a row as it was so good the first time. Great selection of lunch time treats. Lovely baguettes and toasties and we also had some great cawl. My daughter is gluten free and there was a good choice for her too. A lovely place to have lunch :)

We went here with some friends and had a lovely lunch in the courtyard at the back. Unfortunately I did not have room for one of the delicious looking cakes and bakes.

We had to go back for the prawn baguette. Everything there is fresh and delicious. There’s a great out door garden as well as seating out the front from where you can watch the world ( or at least this little part of Wales) go by.

I've been to this friendly cafe many times during trips to Pembrokeshire and can't recommend it enough. Really beautiful food and portions that that satisfy even my greedy husband! Highly recommended for lunch.

We've just had the most fantastic mini break here. We didn't think we'd get to visit our happy place ,Newport, this year due to the pandemic but Blas at Fronlas have opened their doors in the cafe and their B&B rooms. We had the twin room with separate bathroom. It is a decent size for 2 to share and really nicely decorated and furnished. The upstairs sitting room is equally lovely and has fabulous views over the rooftops out to sea. Everything was set up really well for social distancing and minimising risk of spreading the virus, whilst still being comfortable and welcoming. Lindsey and her team are brilliant at making you feel special and looked after. The breakfast is amazing as is everything else in the menu. It was quite hard to get anywhere to sit and eat in the evening due to covid restrictions, so we asked Lindsey if we could order a sharing box for the evening. Lindsey couldn't have been more helpful and provided us with a delicious and very generous platter of food that we thoroughly enjoyed in the patio garden later on. We've eaten here many times over the years but this was our first stay- I almost don't want to say how good it was because I want to be able to book another time!! You will not be disappointed! Lindsey is a wonderful host!
