Having gone to winderemere to a so called dog friendly cafe Brambles...we were turned away saying they are under new management and now don't allow dogs. When googling dog friendly cafes in windereme this comes up everytime just to be aware that it or not!

It is not often one can find a 'hidden' gem of an eating place but Brambles is just that! we were immediately made most welcome and the order taken. Coffees and cakes were ordered, for a party of four, and they duly arrived. The coffee was excellent - - And I'm fussy about the quality of the brew. The cakes were also excellent, of high quality and very moist. I have to say this is the first cafe or restaurant that I have been, in the UK, where your cup was refilled! I would heartilly recommend this cafe/tea room when you, the reader, visit Windermere! It is very worthy of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence! My wife and I would most certainly return and partake of the refreshments!

We have been here several times and never disappointed. It is a cosy little cafe and very unassuming, but the welcome is tremendous, the service very prompt, and the food excellent. They even come round topping up your coffee cup, which doesn't happen very often! Added to that, it is very reasonably priced, so what's not to like!

Called into Windermere on the way back from a jaunt around the Lake District. Wasn't looking for anything too heavy. Was recommended by another eatery to visit Brambles. So glad we did, the staff were extremely attentive and obliging. I ordered a scone, jam and cream, usually I ask for the scone to be warmed but it was very enjoyable cold. The toasted tea cake was also enjoyed by my Mum. The price was extremely reasonable for the food and drinks.

We actually went off the great reviews and decided to drop by to Brambles for brunch on a recent two night stay in the Lakes. We were welcomed by really friendly staff who promptly took our drinks order. Lovely seating outside, we were lucky enough to get one to enjoy the sun. Drinks arrived and we got all the info we needed regarding specials, meal deals etc. We both had a veggie breakfast which was beautifully cooked. Definately would come again.

It was a sunny day, we smelt a faint whiff of a traditional Brambles British breakfast. We saw the rival cafe next door but loved the elegant and petite furnishings at Brambles. The lovely lady was full of charm and each word she spoke carcassed my inner ear lobes like honey to a bee. Before I knew it I was sipping the fine banana milkshake (see attached) overlooking the cute cobbled streets of Windermere. The breakfast itself was tantalisingly tasty and although the portion wasn’t humoungous this was definitely a matter of quality over quantity. This was by far the best breakfast I’ve had in a while (and I eat a lot).

My partner and I stopped in Brambles as we were looking for a dog-friendly place to get a bite to eat. We, and our sleepy dog, were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff who made sure we had enough space for our pooch to stretch out on the floor. My partner opted for the all day breakfast and a cup of tea, and I went for the vegan stew on a jacket potato, and a hot chocolate. Though there were two other full tables in the cafe, the staff worked quickly and brought our food and drinks within 10 minutes of us ordering! The waitress were very conscious of my dietary needs as a vegetarian and double checked if certain ingredients were ok for me to eat. The food itself was cheap and cheerful - nothing stood out as amazing but it's a great place to go if you're looking for a quick bite. The cafe itself is perfectly situated in the middle of town, cutely decorated with maps and photographs, and is so beautifully warm inside that we were nice and toasty while we ate! We called in here today and it was a very friendly welcome. We came here as my dad used to enjoy the small atmosphere. I thought the food was okay, but the toasties weren't proper toasties but rather just a sandwich made with toast (and you pay extra for the toast!). The fillings were generous, but the plates they were served on were too small. The ice cream I had (from the freezer, which is fine) had clearly been either in there a while or had melted and refrozen. Worth a stop though due to the friendly service, but we won't be back!

I like nothing more than to leave a positive comment for nice food and great service however, I'm not able to on this occasion. I read other reviews before going here and I wasn't sure whether I'd actually been to the wrong place! We were offered to sit at a table with another couple who were already eating (due to limited space as it's so small). We both ordered a tea and full English breakfast. This is the first full English I've ever had served to me on a tiny tea plate instead of a dinner plate? I thought they had actually made a mistake and served us a child's portion. There was one skinny sausage, two rashers of under cooked bacon that seemed like it had been boiled not grilled, a spoon full of beans and an undercooked fried egg. The butter portions were melted. Toast was served separately but you couldn't put this on your plate with the rest of the breakfast as there was no room on a tea plate for everything. It was definitely the size of a child's portion and sadly the owners should charge as such if they insist on serving this size meal. We both left hungry. Also, it's nice for staff to be friendly but the lady serving us talked constantly about herself to other customers loudly and it was quite irritating. There are lots of venues that serve breakfast in the area so I felt disappointed I'd been misled by the other reviews on here. On a positive note, the cup of tea was quite nice.

We came across this place after going for a walk and its nice to find a place that does plain scones and rocky road with no fruit in it.

Probably the most friendliest cafe I've ever been to, service with a smile. However, portion sizes are on the smaller side and I've never had a skinny sausage in Cumbria before.... try it out, it's worth 4 stars for its friendly service alone. Oh, cheap too :)

Friendly service and what seems like a nice family set-up. They'll even make you a cake to order if you give them a day's notice. Popular with older locals which is always a good sign.

We stopped here for lunch to shelter from the rain. The Thai-style veg soup was delicious and came with fresh bread or a sandwich on the side. They have plenty of other fresh snacks and cakes. The coffee cane with free refills as well. To top it all, it was very reasonably priced!

Visited this cafe again, and again was not disappointed. My sister and I both had the carrot soup and a ham sandwich as a lunch special £5.50 and Scott had the bacon sandwich and a filter coffee with a top up for £4. It was very nice, staff were lovely and place was very clean. We would recommend and we will pop in again when back that way.

Small cafe with very friendly, helpful staff. Not an extensive menu but we enjoyed breakfast there twice. Newspapers are available for you to read. Scones and cakes looked lovely; wish I had the opportunity to try them.

On our first morning we were looking for a cafe to have breakfast and coffee when we came across Brambles...what a find! We were greeted like old friends and made to feel so welcome. Breakfast was delicious with coffee in abundance! We enjoyed so much we decided that we would return on our last morning...again being welcomed by friendly staff. A lovely end to a wonderful time in The Lake District.

As ever, 'Brambles' delivers the goods. Hungry when arrived, full and very content when left. Great service, lovely atmosphere and an appealing menu. Always a pleasure popping in, be it for breakfast, lunch or a cheeky afternoon coffee and cake. Perfect 10's across the board for us. Keep it up, and we look forward to returning.

We visited for a quick snack stop after walking from Bowness where we were staying and were pleasantly surprised. Though small and a little cramped (Not good if you are claustrophobic), the staff were amazingly friendly and the food was tasty and very fast to be served. The bacon sandwiches and coffee were super tasty, so much so that I ended up having an extra sandwich.High recommend!

Restaurant at Samlinglocation-iconAmbleside RoadBritish

My parents and I went to celebrate my Master’s graduation and we had a wonderful time at the Samling Restaurant. The staff were absolutely lovely, went above and beyond, and the food was utterly delicious. The portions were perfect and we truly appreciated how accommodating they were of our dislikes and intolerances/allergies. The wine recommendation we got went perfectly with the entire meal and dishes always arrived when everyone was at the table. The restaurant definitely deserves its rating and when we’re in the area again, we are definitely making plans for coming back.

We popped in here on Monday 29th for coffee and pastries before driving home to scotland. The lady behind the counter, I think she was called Dawn, was absolutely lovely, super friendly. Our coffees and pastries were gorgeous and so fresh. We bought some goodies to take home with us and they were gorgeous too. We will definitely be back when we are next down visiting.
