Browns in Town in Derry

Still dreaming about the food here a week later! Visited last week on a trip to Derry after literally everyone recommended it! The good reviews are not wrong. The food was excellent. The staff were really nice and the service was quick. We had mussels, chicken wings, chicken supreme and steak. Zero complaints. Will be recommending to everyone we know of going to Derry!

The food in general was of excellent quality. My husband had Seafood Chowder which he said was delicious as a starter and I had Mussels in a chilli rag which was equally tasty. I had Fillet Steak for my main and my husband had Duck Breast. Both meals were cooked and seasoned beautifully and were simply delicious to eat. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Very good quality food and accommodating staff, good choice on the menu and reasonable offers on (2 courses £31.50) some items heavily supplemented on the menu (steaks 7-9£ more and scallops for started was maybe 6£ more. Restaurant is nicely spaced out between tables and has a lovely chilled out vibe. Anyway food was delicious, service was good, I had mussels for started which were genuinely 10/10 very very good! Steak was cooked to rare as requested and was really good , I had a lovely crust and really well seasoned, I found it strange for the steak to be presented on the plate alone with a trickle of puree and pepper sauce (no veg or garnish)? That’s just a personal opinion. Sides were delicious Panna cotta for desert again beautiful! All in all great dining experience

Having had an excellent lunch here about 5 years ago, we booked here for a family of 5 people up from Dublin to watch the Gaelic Football match in Celtic Park (Dublin won!). We had a table in the front with a comfortable ambiance. The menu was varied and suited everyone. Some interesting choices. One of our party has a peanut allergy. In addition to the menu listing allergens, when she was informed of the peanut allergy, our waiter responded very professionally. She went to the kitchen to double check. Our food and service was excellent, particularly given it was a busy Saturday night. All round very enjoyable meal.

Early Bird Menu on a Friday evening . Well looked after by staff. We had a starter/main excellent. Guinness bread a treat with the delicious soup.

Was looking forward to dining here after being recommended to us as we were visiting the city for the first time. First impressions, the restaurant looked nice, didn’t look overly busy although we waiting for 5/10 mins before we were acknowledged and shown to our seat. The young waitress then said she would b back in 5 minutes with the menu. This took about 10 minutes and it was a lad who realised we hadn’t been served and addressed it with the waitress. Again after we ordered the food too about 40 mins so in total we were in there an hour before we got any food. When the food eventually came it was well presented and tasted good. Desert was also good and service for this was much faster. There wasn’t much of an atmosphere in the restaurant. We were going to stay for a few cocktails but decided to leave. Not sure I would return.

We came up from Belfast to Derry for a few days for my sister’s birthday and took her to Browns in Town for her birthday dinner. It was so good. We’ve been here before a few years ago so we knew it was a good place to dine. And we weren’t disappointed. Good menu choices. Food was really well prepared and tasted amazing. Staff were very friendly and attentive. My 3 favourite desserts were all on the menu too (Creme brûlée, lemon tart and pannacotta) - I didn’t know which one to go for but the glazed lemon tart won out. It was one of the best tarts ever. Excellent overall. Will definitely be back agin.

A classy restaurant which had a great menu. Their goats cheese starter was delicious and they had a good selection of wines. Friendly welcoming staff and good value.

We’ve been to Browns in the Town a few times before as well as their other venues and as usual they lived up to the high expectations we wanted - food and presentation was really great and staff were excellent but then we expected that. Well done Browns and we’ll be back again soon

Lovely spot for food. Whole meal was delicious and service was quick. Staff were friendly. Also have lots of gluten free options on their menu so as a coeliac diner I was delighted to have plenty of choice.

Unfortunately I was sadly disappointed with my lunch on this occasion. My granddaughter and I have visited you several times over the last two years and consider you to be our favourite restaurant in Belfast. I must say at this point, my granddaughter who is 14 years old thoroughly enjoyed her meal and was quite happy with the visit. However I didn't enjoy the chicken and lentil soup which was probably down to my preferences so I have no complaint about it. The problem was the pan seared cod I had for main. It was over done and consequently tough and dry in the mouth. Any where else I would have put it down to a bad choice on my part, but no this is Browns and I expect better. I guess it may have been one of those glitches that sometimes happen in kitchens, so both of us will visit you again, next time we have something to celebrate. Take care Anthony Quinton.

Superb meal and excellent attentive service from the staff. Really quick service, great value, would highly recommend.

Booked for my partners birthday dinner and when booking asked if they could do something special to mark the occasion. We were given a booth and when bringing out the dessert had happy birthday wrote on my partners plate ❣️ Food was amazing and the staff was so attentive, couldn't recommend this establishment highly enough! Thanks for such a special night!

Overall a very good experience at Browns! The food was of the best quality and the staff were very friendly and easy to talk to. The only draw back for us was that there was a very loud table of 8 just directly across from us, that got louder with each drink consumed. This was no fault of the restaurant at all and will not hinder me in returning to the restaurant very soon!!

Browns in town is a charming restaurant that offers delicious local cuisine. The staff is incredibly friendly and always willing to suggest the meal of the day. During my visit, the restaurant was not crowded, making it easy to find a free table to order. The waiters were impressively quick and attentive, providing polite and efficient service throughout my meal.

A really fantastic surprise. First time there but not the last. Staff joined in the craic and banter with us and helped time slip by. Food well above average (really great) and service matched. Value for money? - absolutely.

Delightful meal! We had just checked in to the Holiday Inn Express and the front desk reccomended this restaurant... We were a bit ahead of the pack as the place was very crowded when we left - Derry was unbelievably busy!

Reception was welcoming and friendly. One of our friends was slightly late but we were given plenty of time to peruse the menu and make our choices. My fish chowder was excellent as was the accompanying bread. My venison was beautifully presented and was as good as any that I have ever had. The accompanying side orders (the 4 of us shared 2 mixed vegetables 1 chips and 1 champ) Were equally good. Needless to say everything was served hot. The other three concurred with my opinions. We all decided that desert would be superfluous and finished with coffee. The bill was surprisingly moderate for the the quality of our lunch.

The food was excellent as usual. Unfortunately, however, we had to wait over 45 minutes for our main course. As we had come to Derry to see the Halloween parade, we were very disappointed that we missed a good part of it due to the lateness of our meal. We appreciate the restaurant was very busy, but there we’re other tables who arrived after us and received their meal before us. Has not put us off visiting Browns.

Amazing location, great food and great gluten free options with the vegetarian menu having everything apart from one item adaptable if not already suitable for a coeliac. Staff friendly and have good knowledge of allergens and portion sizes are perfect for a 5star place!!

The staff were attentive to our needs, very helpful and at all times respectful and polite. Our lunch was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic and reasonably priced. The atmosphere in the restaurant was welcoming and relaxing, with music playing at a level that allowed us to chat comfortably without distraction. The lunch menu options had something for everyone's taste and dietary requirements. This has been our second time lunching at Browns in Town and we plan to return again very soon.

We had an excellent dinner. The venison was cooked perfectly and was delicious. I'd happily recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Beautiful restaurant with delicious food, great wine list, and nice ambience. We just walked up and they sat us right before closing but like we need a reservation if you're going during peak hours.

Is very pour small food but excellent Tea and coffee

This was a cool place with great food. The children's menu items were great and it wasn't that far outside the walls, maybe a 10 minute walk.
