The last time I was there they were only accepting cash and not cards. Be prepared. Food good selection and very friendly staff

I would have to say that the negative review on this place was purely malicious. I found the owner to be a very friendly and warm person who goes out of his way to ensure his customers are satisfied. The food has always been very fresh and the place is spik and span. I would totally recommend this place.

This place is so homely and the man that owns it is so kind and lovely. He couldn't do more for us. The lunch was beautiful- I had a toastie and my mum had a sandwich on granary bread which was lovely and fresh. I would come back here due to the food and friendliness of staff. Prices are very reasonable. Over all 5***

I really like this wee cafe. Hidden upstairs in the old Regent House building it is nicely decorated and Henry who runs the place is a sweetie. He always remembers that my wee boy likes two sausages and a blackcurrant juice and that my mum prefers her tea in a mug, not a cup. Food is always good (though I really can't be converted to fried banana which appears as an option on the veggie fry!) and never overpriced. Never had a bad brunch in there and I'll keep coming back. Thanks Henry!

We had good breakfast here this morning. The food was very good and the service was excellent, albeit a bit slow, I reckon because the food was freshly cooked. It is a bit odd walking past an undertakers on the ground floor of the same building, to get to the restaurant but, hey, that's life. The only issue is that they could do with a better extractor fan; we could smell the cooking before and, on our clothes, after we visited.

Food below average. Staff not very friendly. When asked for more surger we were told we already had some. Also same response when asked for extra toast. First chapter off a book provided within menu along with a free download. Brilliant to allow you to know if you'd enjoy reading a book.

We had probably the best toasties we have ever tasted today. The cafe was unexpectedly empty at 12.30 and we ordered a bacon/tomato and a bacon/chicken toastie, both on artisan granary bread. There was a longer than expected wait as the toasties were prepared, but this only raised the expctation of something delicious appearing. We were not disappointed. I expect to find an excuse to revisit again soon and look forward to trying other combinations.

We called into chatters coffee shop on Saturday afternoon about 2.45pm. Even though the café was due to close we were welcomed in by Henry and indeed served wonderful coffee and a delicious tray bake. What a great place to sit and relax. Henry was really friendly, we enjoyed a leisurely chat even though his working day should have finished. We will definitely return. Thank you Henry!

Have now been there several times and just now getting around to a review. We go as a rule for breakfast and the menu is very good , lots of choice. All the food is freshly prepared and they only use the very best ingredients. The owner takes time and talks to you and makes you feel very welcome. Nathan is our fussy teenager and he loves going here and is always pleased with his choice. Nice layout and spotless clean at all times . Overall an excellent place to drop in for breakfast or lunch .

Tucked away upstairs this owner run café provides excellent freshly cooked food sourced locally. The service is seamless and it's fresh and clean. Wide range of breakfasts, coffees, teas and lunches. Worth traveling for and there's also lots of free parking in the car park outside.

I visit Chapters with my friends when they are in Newtownards. There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere to greet the customer but the best is yet to come. The granary bread toasties are the best I have ever tasted and it is a treat to have lunch there.I know that there is a sign for Chapters but somehow it escaped my notice even though I pass by on a regular basis. The old Regent House building is very striking but I suppose I am biased as one of my ancestors, James Macdonald, used to be the headmaster.I can fully recommend Chapters and I hope that it can be advertised a little more so that the locals know that it is even there.Henry is a lovely gentleman and this makes the visit more special.

i discovered Chapters by accident when i had an hour to spend between buses (its next to the bus station but well hidden) I ordered a bacon and brie toastie on granary bread and i never tasted antyhing like it - the owner told me that all his food vegatables, bread come from local suppliers delivered fresh every day and it certainly made a very tasty lunch Incidentally the cafe is called Chapters because inside each menu there is the first chapter of a famous novel -Robinson Crusoe, Moby Dick, etc for the customer to read while his food is being prepared . worth seeking out - good prices. Upstairs in the old building with pillars to left of bus station -parking outside

Once you discover this coffee shop you will keep coming back. The food is sourced locally and each order is freshly prepared. I love the breakfast rapido and the cappuccino, the tray bakes are scrumptious too. The owner makes you feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The cafe is bright and airy and it is a very relaxing place to meet up with friends. The other great bonus there is free parking outside.

Been here several times in the last two weeks. The building is a landmark listed building and a very interesting place with lovely architecture. It was originally a house and then a school. Now it is shared with other businesses. The cafe is located on the top floor but they have a lift. It still has a grand old feel about it and the present owners try hard to make it warm and friendly. The food I have had has been good and the coffee has been great with free top up's. The only slight negative for me is that the owners are so well known and comfortable with their regulars that new visitors to the cafe can feel that they are intruding a little. Having said that it would not deter me from returning as I feel the owners are so open that it wouldn't belong before they would treat me as a regular.

We really enjoy going to this lovely place! Up the beautiful staircase in the old Regent House School building, (lift available) and into a lovely bright room with huge windows overlooking Scrabo tower. Everybody gets the friendliest welcome anywhere, with the most delightful couple Stephen and Lisa taking your order, and cooking the most delicious food in town. They really are the sort of people who are made for the hospitality industry, extremely chatty, warm and friendly, and yet your food comes out quickly and piping hot. It matters to them to get every detail right for you, and certainly it has made my husband and me loyal customers, and judging by how popular this place has become in quite a short time, I think a lot of people feel the same! I can heartily recommend this place.
