We were delighted with this tearoom. We went on a Saturday so needed to reserve a table for lunchtime. There was a very good range of dishes and cakes, including many gluten-free and vegan options and also more traditional choices. We took our dog as the manager had explained they could comfortably accommodate 2 dogs at a time. The food was delicious, waitresses friendly and best of all ( ...for me, a tea-fan ) they had real loose leaf tea. Will always go to this tearoom if I am visiting Richmond.

We stumbled across this tea room on a recent visit to Richmond. The service from start to finish from the young lady and young lad was first class. I went for the bacon & egg sandwich was absolutely lovely & the full English for the Mrs was spot on. The tea for two was more like tea for 6 but again was really good. If you are in Richmond please visit this place. We didn’t get chance but the cakes looked fantastic. Next time perhaps.

We visited here on the recommendation of a colleague for lunch one Saturday and it was a real find, I probably would have just walked passed it if I hadn't been looking for it and would have missed out. It's quite small but we were lucky to get a table and the service was excellent. I had fishcakes and my partner had the bacon roll and both were excellent. The cakes looked really good but we didn't try one as we were eating out later on but next time I will, they were very generous portions. Will visit again the next time I'm in Richmond.

Perfect stop for lunch bite on a wet and blustery day. Good quality food judging by our own and what we saw on plates going past.Service was excellent and personable. Good selection of teas available tongo with an afternoon tea if thats your thing. A few nice little touches such as warmed bread rolls served with soup, crockery was warmed as well, the butter was spreadable (a rare treat these days of straight from the fridge). Unusual perhaps for this type of establishment it was dog friendly. These was a good selection of cakes and tray bakes, my only critique would be a disproportionate quantity of gluten/vegan/egg free baking vs normal choices.

Lovely friendly staff welcomed us in. A good idea to book a table if you are planning to go around peak times (lunch) as there’s not a huge amount of tables. I needed a gluten free option and they were very accommodating it was fabulous that there were so many cakes from the display counter to choose. So tempting I wanted most of them. I need to return to try more. Had the afternoon tea, there’s different types (and prices) we had the one with sandwiches, cake and 2 scones along with jam and cream served with a pot of tea or a coffee. (need to give them advance notice for the other gluten free afternoon tea choice that is more substantial) but what we had was more than adequate-delicious food, perhaps could have done with more of the sandwiches and perhaps one less scone - but that’s my personal choice.

Hadn't booked and so really pleased they could accommodate my daughter and I as we fancied cake and a cuppa. We were made to feel very welcome and ordered a piece of dairy-free chocolate cake and a piece of curd tart. Both were gorgeous, fresh and tasty. Just had to be a great place as we learned that the lady who served us was from Doncaster, our home town. Thank you. We are so glad we chose Duncan's for our treat.

Now, a Sunday lunch is a Sunday lunch, right? WRONG!!!This lunchtime we travelled to Richmond, North Yorkshire, to a tea room we had enjoyed for a few weeks. It is a homely, well organised tea room, where the emphasis is on comfort and home from home kindness. You are treated as if you are the only one who matters - and this is applied to all who came to enjoy the delights Duncan's offers. How rare is this ??!! We had booked for Sunday lunch and upon given a choice of two tables ( we had previously asked for a window view), and sat. Without rush, we were given the menus, and given ample time to select from the interesting starters, and an imaginative main course. It is NOT a licensed establishment, but we are allowed to bring our own wine - apparently. We were offered a carafe of iced water, which was readily accepted - (No charge !!)My starter was a black pudding baked in a mustard seed sauce with crispy bacon pieces and toast. The is was excellent - although I would suggest that the toast was unnecessary. Having said this, it was something I had not experienced before and am delighted to say, it was very much something I would wish to have again. My colleague had Yorkshire puddings and gravy as a starter - cooked just right and they hadn't been left hanging around and dried out, as some we have experienced. So far so good! The main course came, I had just one slice of beef( thickly cut) as I am not a great lover of meat, though I do enjoy what I have, although I could have had more if I wanted. My colleague asked for the potato and leek pie, which was served in a teacup ! Wow, now that is different!! Within a few seconds of it appearing on the table, Karen appeared with a serving spoon and removed the pie lid, which was short crust pastry which gains extra brownie points, serving out the contents which was in a creamy cheese sauce. Now came the vegetables - roast potatoes,Creamed potatoes, broccoli, carrots and........Spring Greens!!! Which were cooked to perfection. Most places we have been have a tendency to over cook greens and they look as if they are wilted beyond recognition. " Been kept under the bed for a few nights", is a favourite description of ours. The other vegetables were well cooked in that they were crisp, but cooked - Perfect! The puddings were chosen from a board on the wall, and I plumped for Blackberry and Apple pie, while my colleague chose the baked egg custard. Both were delicious, and we rounded off the meal with coffee. How nice it is to coffee that tastes like coffee and not dish water !!!!!This is a wonderful place, where you can have as little or as much as you want, and more if required. This is one place for Sunday lunch we will be coming back to.

Having stopped off in Richmond on the way home for lunch and a visit to the castle to make use of our English heritage membership we took the trip advisor recommendation for Duncan’s and were not disappointed. A nice sandwich and a vegetarian burger with a good sized pot of tea was a good intro before the cakes. We rarely would both have gluten free but on this occasion both the coffee/walnut/almond cake (excellent) and the chocolate torte (good but more a desert than a cake) were worth leaving space for. Well worth a detour for lunch, a little more accompaniment to the sandwich & burger and I would say 5*.

It came with a nice sized portion of salad and coleslaw. It was lovely. They obviously know about gf bread as it had been toasted so was just right. The manager(owner ?) had mentioned about their gf scones so it would be rude not to try one ( although a lucious looking and sounding coffee, walnut and almond gf cake was very tempting!) Visited this cracking tea room yesterday with my wife whilst enjoying a short road trip around North Yorkshire. What a start to the day, amazing breakfast served by lovely friendly people. I had the Full English while my wife had the Brioche Eggy Bread. Neither of us were disappointed. Nice Yorkshire portions, (you can have as much toast as you like although we didn’t need any more) and beautiful quality ingredients. The breakfast was supplied by the butchers next door, could you get any more local. I was so impressed, I went straight into the butchers afterwards and topped up my cool box. I’ll be sharing a Duncan’s breakfast with family and friends back home in Milton Keynes for some weeks to come. Discovered Duncans purely by chance when looking for a cafe to have a cuppa and cake. Not many places with outside seating in Richmond and as it was a warm day but we spotted Duncans and it was the best ever. The food -cooked by the owner's Mum - is superb - and plentiful. The atmosphere welcoming and cosy and the owner and her staff full of Yorkshire charm and friendliness. It was a bit busy when we arrived and ordered and as the food is cooked to order - in a very small kitchen area- there was going to be a wait. The owner gave us two free drinks on the house by way of apology - a lovely touch but we weren't in any hurry so a bonus too. When the food arrived neither my husband or I wanted to finish our meal - it was so delicious we both wanted the eating experience to go on forever! A fantastic place - not so good if you cannot manage a few stairs but the ascent is well worth the effort

The tearoom was very busy and full however we got seated straight away and the service continued to be efficient and polite. What a little gem of a tea room this is; we happened upon it by chance, but we were not disappointed,we were greeted by a smile and a lovely greeting, the service was efficient and very quick after ordering our drinks which arrived within minutes, and our food considering it was freshly cooked came very quick even though they were busy.

Just needed a light lunch. Had quiche which was a seriously good one, a delicious cheese and onion delight. A good Colombian coffee and some treacle tart to take home for later. The service is always superb. Worth a visit anytime recommended.

With hunger pangs calling, we called into Duncan's for lunch on Wednesday. What a pleasant treat! Friendly staff, a calm, relaxed atmosphere and cakes to die for! We both had Tartefalette (or something like that?). It was served piping hot with sweetheart cabbage. Delicious! No room for cake after all...

We visited Duncans after reading the reviews on tripadvisor to get a coffee on a chilly day. After perusing the menu I decided to have Broccoli and stilton soup with a ham sandwich followed by Sticky toffee pudding with custard and ice cream and a nice Decaf late. My wife had a mushroom tartiflette followed by a mincemeat Bakewell tart. It was all delicious and served by very attentive friendly staff.

An amazing little tearoom in Richmond with delicious lunch and cakes. We had soup of the day and cauliflower rarebit followed by a selection of cakes with tea. All were delicious and rather large portions! The staff were very friendly and service was quick. Fresh bread and cakes tasted as good as they looked! Would highly recommend.

Stumbled across this tearoom and went in for lunch as we could see they had nice white cloths on the tables. What a find! There was an excellent choice of options for lunch and we both chose the cauliflower rarebit. It was so tasty and served with an array of chutneys. Then to choose a cake. All home baked each one looking better than the last. We chose a roulade and a lemon meringue pie. Just the best I have ever had.

We visited Duncan’s tearooms en-route to Harrogate stopped off for breakfast. This was a surprise trip for our friends 50th, we had an amazing breakfast and the service was excellent, food was outstanding, the staff were so friendly, they went out of there way to make the birthday celebrations special with cake and a candle. The food choice catered for all tastes full English breakfast and eggs benedict were the best ever had. Cakes looked amazing and if we were staying in Richmond we would have been back for lunch and dinner. Highly recommend this place and will visit again no hesitation.

One of our party had checked Trip Advisor and said we needed to go to Duncan's for tea while doing the Coast to Coast walk. He was right! As we had a few days in Richmond we went to Duncan's three times and loved it every time. We actually planned our day off around visiting the place. Wonderful food with plenty of vegetarian options, ultra-friendly service and staff so kind to our little dog Bertie. We loved lots of things about Richmond but this was our absolute favourite. We're already trying to work out how soon we can return.

Living in a rural market town, you can often find it difficult to find somewhere to eat that accommodates vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters. However, this is the place! Delicious food whatever your dietary requirements. They can even do soya and gluten free too! Options include main courses and fantastic cakes for afters (if you can manage one after your main as the portions are generous, so we usually buy and take home with us). Karen and her staff are great and can't do enough for you. Well worth a visit whether you're a local or a visitor

What a wonderful find! Open weekends at the moment and so welcoming even in the wild January weather! We visited twice during our holiday and had a wonderful experience on both occasions. Delicious toasties, waffles, pancakes and drinks. And of course, ice cream! (Had to be done, even in January!). The owner and staff were friendly, helpful and fun! Barn beautifully converted, with a lovely mezzanine and a very welcome woodburner! Just the best!

We booked a table here for an evening meal after our walk. We received a very warm and friendly welcome from the lady. The food was absolutely amazing in terms of flavour, presentation, quality - we both opted for the cod loin dish with chips that were the best we had ever tasted! The pannacotta dessert was divine we enjoyed every mouthful!! This restaurant is such a find and perfect in every respect - we highly recommend it - and very much look forward to our next visit!
