After having breakfast on Friday which was great, we decided to book a table for lunch on Saturday and we weren't disappointed again. Great soup and main meals. Hot and tasty. You have to try the cakes 😁 Ask for an extra hot latte and you get an extra hot latte. Great staff ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good plate of breakfast, tea and toast. Welcoming and helpful staff. The food is hot, a bonus these days and the extra hot latte was extra hot.😉

We visited for burgers on a Friday night. There was a great choice of burgers and sides, very tasty, well presented. Fab staff, very busy and popular. Lovely wine to go with the meal and a good choice of desserts too

We love going to the lodge for breakfast with the family, the food is always fantastic and the coffee is even better! Also worth trying the burger night that they run on a Friday night in the summer!

Found this cafe after cycling the Laurieston to GofF road and then revisited a few times during our weeks holiday. The pecan pie was outstanding but then so was the treacle tart and the eggs Benedict. It’s a really good cup of coffee too!! There’s loads of space and it’s right by the big carpark so we did our bottle recycling at the same time.

Went here for breakfast with my two daughters the egg Benedict was absolutely fantastic i’ve even got a vegetarian option. staff are very friendly. absolutely beautiful building inside. i’ve got a little shop so you can take away your food or even buy some jam and marmalade. go and try it won’t be disappointed. Absolutely fabulous

Galloway lodge is a hidden gem for the south of scotland. Their friday night burger night is divine. There simply isn't a burger like this in the region. The garlic fries were incredible.

Wow. What a find. Cheese scones right out the oven & a great breakfast sausage & egg role with braw coffees. Staff very friendly & helpful. We sat outside but inside is huge. Well worth a visit.

My husband had a haggis and chilli jam toasty which he said was reasonably tasty. I had a Brie, bacon and cranberry one which was greasy and tasteless. The accompanying crisps weren’t crisp at all. My 2 year old granddaughter rejected her cheese sandwich which was unusual and when we tasted it discovered it was tasteless. The coffee was nice and there were toys for the little one to play with whilst waiting for our lunch.

Lovely visit here with my parents today, and we’ve been several times over the years. It’s always a delightful visit. Coffees were perfect and staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere - thank you!

Me and my daughter visit here it was a lovely experience staff were very friendly. hygiene 5 out of five perfect. The food was piping hot The cappuccinos and latte was perfect. we even asked for water for the two of us the water came in a fancy gin bottle with two glasses perfect wasn’t expecting the water to arrive in that.(🥰🥰). we love the venue really home from home. I would recommend to anyone.

I was recommended to call and have breakfast here on my journey from Stranraer to Yorkshire what an excellent choice I had the bacon and haggis sandwich served with coffee fabulous really enjoyed them the staff were excellent very friendly and courteous can’t wait to return the shop has some wonderful products highly recommended free car park next door

The food was absolutely delicious. We had breakfast and coffee here during a short weekend stay in Gatehouse of Fleet and it was amazing – our best meal of the weekend. They have a really great menu with lots of different choices. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return if we’re in the area.

Such a good visit today. I haven’t been for a while and have just had the loveliest lunch. The service was good and despite the busy rush they were experiencing, I knew they were observing each table closely by the update the waitress gave us on our order. Late lunch with friends , as always staff super friendly and the specials board has something for everyone., including veg and vegan options. Steak and mushroom pie went down a treat with the carnivores in the party. Looking forward to our next visit.

We have shopped periodically at Galloway Lodge Preserves - particularly at Christmas! A huge selection of super treats not to mention the best jams and preserves in the world! Top tip don't miss the gourmet burgers - only the best local produce and all home made. Truly a very special place run by dedicated caring and hard working management and staff - some of the best that Dumfries and Galloway has to offer - don't miss it!

Before COVID- Fun, friendly place, great food, coffee and cake. Very receptive and warm to children, all the staff are lovely. The burger night and gin night are great nights out with great food and drink which is all great value for money. Since reopening after Covid all precautions are in place and the staff work tirelessly to make visits to the shop and for food/drink/cake/coffee as pleasant as possible. Me and my family all felt safe and the place was very clean with Perspex dividers and sanitiser all in place.Also great to see the business has improvised with home delivery of products and take away food which continues to make the excellent products and service accessible during Covid. In summary, the shop has an authentic rural feel with some lovely products. Fantastic food from breakfast through to dinner, tea/coffee through to beer/gin!

For quality food and service this is a must visit place. Very child friendly when we visit as a family and an essential stop off when travelling on A75. Highly rate their macaroni cheese and chocolate brownies. Delish!

This place sells the best paninis and milkshakes ever. Can’t recommend this place enough. Five stars is an understatement.

Having lived in D&G for the past 30 years I have to say this is the best cafe in the whole region. A warm welcome, top coffee and the most delicious fresh food. They also have a little gift shop stocking local products and some of their own jams too.

Always thoroughly enjoy are burger nights at Galloway Lodge. Husband addicted to the bbq sauce! Delicious products and service always second to none. Thanks all 🙌🏼

My summary: good, tasty food, consistent quality and friendly staff. That’s based on four years of very frequent visits, alone, with family or a bunch of friends. Never had a bad experience and to top it all, we get loyalty awards which really add up.My advice to the Galloway Lodge: don’t change a thing, work through the difficulties of Covid as well as you are and if some people show disproportionate discontent, shake if off. Many more of us consider it a joy to come into your establishment and enjoy a coffee, cake (lemon cake is to die for), or one of the Friday night burgers.You mean so much more to the community than a place to buy a drink or gift!

I grew up in Gatehouse of Fleet and visit Galloway Lodge every time I’m home. It’s great to pop in for a quick coffee and a slice of cake but they also do the most amazing breakfast and lunch menus. They have an area towards the back of the cafe with toys so it’s great if you have little ones in tow (I often do). Most recently I ordered takeaway food from Galloway Burger. This was my first time trying the burgers and it was out of this world! The service is always friendly, professional and quick. Worth every single penny and I can’t wait to return.

We visit Gatehouse of Fleet around 1-2 times a month and usually pay a visit to Galloway Lodge. They have lovely produce and delicious food. They also offer takeaway in eco friendly containers and supply cutlery which is handy if your a walker/camper. For the the last 3 years we have purchased hampers from Galloway Lodge for family Christmas presents and although its a very busy time of year for the team they always are accommodating. All the family LOVE the hampers.In recent times Galloway Lodge have everything in place covid related to make customers feels safe and have implemented all guidelines.I would highly recommend a trip to Galloway Lodge if you are nearby. Cannot compliment this establishment enough. From the very clear COVID safety measures, friendly staff that go above and beyond, the delicious food, fantastic coffee and amazing selection of preserves and gifts on offer in the shop, you will go far to beat it!I am a regular customer, I go with family, friends and in work meetings. I have been during the day and at night for Galloway burger and I am yet to have a poor meal or poor service.Well done to the whole team, your hard graft is clear to see

Love Galloway Logdge! Had takeaway banoffee pie - enough to feed several families - and coffee. Delicious and staff kind and helpful even when I was making a mess of the various covid rules (which were under my nose - but I got distracted by cake!). Also bought fabulous selection of James and chutneys. Rhubarb and ginger - to die for, and spicy tomatoes - goes so well with cheese.

This is a great wee cafe. I would highly recommend for lunch or a wee afternoon treat. They also make their own jams and sauces. Highly recommend the sweet chilli jam and the poachers pickle.

We live in Dumfries & Galloway, come here regularly and have done for years. The food is great & so are the staff. This was one of the first places we came to after restrictions eased and it feels very safe and Covid secure. The menu is always lovely with plenty of choice and amazing cakes. Staff are always friendly and efficient even though they’re usually really busy. Definitely recommend.

Galloway Lodge can always be relied on to provide friendly service even when busy. Very attentive to CV-19 guidance which may slow things down a bit but makes us feel doubly safe. Tables well-spaced, good use of screening, barcode registration using app, and staff alL so, so attentive to getting it right. We were so glad when it re-opened after lockdown and we could revert to our regular coffee and scones. Plus the best jam this side of heaven!

The best place to eat in gatehouse and Galloway to be honest. Well run family business. They have taken time, effort and gone to a lot of expense to make sure you feel safe and welcome during covid. The food is amazing (chicken and rice soup!) and it’s lovely how it’s all their own jams etc too. The shop is stocked with amazing biscuits which aren’t good for the waistline. Also local books too. For me it’s the service that makes it really special. I’ve been coming for years and every member for staff is polite, professional and really cares about the job they do and each one is proud of the service they offer. Highly highly recommended - especially the salad dressing and the chilli jam. (And the chicken and rice soup!)

We have eaten and shopped here on many a visit to Gatehouse. This time was different, it was the first weekend of opening in this new COVID era. I emailed to check they’d be open and reserve a table - after a speedy response we were booked in. I knew the measures would be put in place to keep up safe and they didn’t disappoint. This was our 11month old daughters first meal in a restaurant due to the lockdown - I was a bit nervous. As always the food was amazing and we treated ourselves to a few preserves - I usually order online so it was nice to be able to view the full range. The staff made us very welcome and our daughter loved her mini fish and chips. Cannot recommend this place enough for a family meal.

There are two reasons for visiting Galloway Lodge; the food shop and the coffee shop. As regards their produce, I am a particular fan of their Raspberry Jam and Fine Cut Marmalade. The coffee shop has never disappointed me - excellent home baking; cheese and chive scones particularly recommended. A good menu from light bites to full meals, as well as a specials board. I was particularly fond of a chicken and bacon pie on a previous visit. Definitely worthy of a detour if you are travelling on the A75, but if you are thinking of having lunch there, book in advance - it's popular!

We always pop in whenever we're passing through gatehouse. Always a lovely coffee, not to mention the hot chocolate. Staff are always very friendly and attentive. Even since leaving the industry I still know how hard hospitality staff work and all the soft skills that go along with "Just waiting tables". Covid has been hard all round but we're always impressed with the food, most notably the scones with local jam. For things like that you're paying more for the quality and im more than happy to do so. Keep up the good work and remind us to tip the girl who "didn't know what day of the week" it was extra next time were in. I've just realised it was October.

Staff are always friendly and thoughtful. We are living in stressful times and the management and staff have created a safe and sanitised process for thier customers to meet and continue to enjoy good food and service. Staff are always cheerful too even when there is high demand. Its not my first visit but it was my first time out since the pandemic restrictions were lifted. This cafe was the first place I had been to in months. I went there to meet a friend for lunch. I had no need to be nervous because cleanliness and smooth service had been considered and acted upon so carefully. Food was delicious as always. Thank you to the team!

Popped in for lunch when staying near by. Sandwiches were very nice & cofee was DELICIOUS. Staff were very nice & brought cheese & chive scones home. They were fabulous. Free parking very near & tables outside , handy with the dog as lovely park near by.

Went in on 30th September. No greeting, no obvious covid signage instructions or hand gel. Looked around: I wanted to leave but we needed gifts to take home from shop section ...some clueless woman shouting out loud that the coffee machine was broken and every time we moved we seemed to get in their way. very weird layout especially during covid and not safe at all. At the till fortunately a young team member was friendlier. Popped in on Friday a.m.for some ice cream for our freezer. Again no covid system, whilst waiting in 'queue' got a BBQ sauce. Finally get served by someone whom I'm sure wouldn't know what day of the week it was if I asked. £10.40 for 3x mini ice-cream and a bottle of condiment which costs £3.25 online....so over £2 odd for ice-cream when the super pricey spar next door sells it for less!!! Disgrace. as it's now closed I went online to email them. No obvious email address to ask in a polite way about their pricing. No 'contact us' page obvious at all (go figure) No receipt given on either visit, though I think I also paid £4+ for 3x miniature preserves which you can buy for 90p a pop separately. This place is at it. Would not recommend for either service, covid guidelines or clarity on pricing / any value for money. We don't mind paying a bit more to keep independent businesses afloat but worst experience of all our shopping in D&G.

A fine choice of menu,a struggle to choose what to have! Very fresh and delicious. Attentive staff. Felt very comfortable with Lodge's Covid measures. Bought some items to take home too. Will certainly be back.

A lovely central location next to carparking. Freshly cooked food with a variety of dishes including homebakeing,meals and sacks. Staff are very friendly and efficient.

Understandably on a reduced menu at the moment but still an excellent choice of hot filled rolls, soups and sandwiches/toastie. Nice quiet atmosphere and very pleasant staff.

Menu had plenty of options and the food we had was very tasty and good quality food. Plenty of space between tables and very safe place to go for meal.

We had mid-morning coffee and a cake here and it was delicious. A lot of the tables have been removed, and distancing was easy, plus there were screens between any tables that were even vaguely close.The scone and jam was so good that we bought three jars of their own jam in the attached small shop.

We had an enjoyable early lunch. The staff were lovely. Arriving at 11:30 worked well for us before the lunch time rush and just in time to order a breakfast item. Can I recommend the eggs benedict as a light but satisfying option.

A wonderful gem of a place . We were on a few day break and visited Galloway lodge a few times . Been many times before and it never fails to deliver. Quality of food is outstanding . Service likewise. We are living in strange times but the team at Galloway lodge go beyond to try and make the experience more like what we are used to. Well done to all. I’ve actually lost count of the number of times we’ve eaten her over the last two summers.Food and service excellent as always and with the “eat out” discount fantastic value too.Prawn and coronation chicken sandwiches our go - to and I think would be difficult to beat.Cakes delicious and very generously sized portions too.

Title says it all. We had breakfast followed by cake!! My definition of brunch: not too late for breakfast and not too early for cake!!I had full breakfast. Every element was terrific. Big hot plate of breakfast goodies. Good hot tea. Totally necessary with All Day Breakfast. So big tick. The choice of what appear to be homemade cakes and scones etc was excellent. I had the cheesecake. Staff were a mixture of young and mature women who were sharp and friendly. So, go and enjoy!

The tomato, basil and pepper soup was the most tasty soup I have had in ages. It was hot too ( not spicy hot) just heated well. Our youngest son really enjoyed his haggis and cheese melt too which was also really hot. Really pleasant staff too. Enjoyed our dinner.

We used to come for a burger to start our holidays. The carry out is just as good and very efficient - if you are swithering garlic fries are the way to go

Visited on a weekday late lunch/early afternoon at the start of school summer holidays so it was a little busy and we had to wait 5-10 mins for a table. This wasn’t a problem and was completely understandable considering covid and capacity restrictions. The main kitchen wasn’t open (again not a problem) so we opted for cheesecake and milkshakes. The cheesecake was reasonable but the portions were excessive and so you are charged similarly. We ended up bringing half our slices back home but honestly would have been happy paying less for a smaller portion as they are quite rich. The milkshakes were more disappointing. Again they were much bigger than necessary, and really lacked any flavour meaning a lot was wasted. It seemed like the ice cream had been mixed with too much (skimmed?) milk to make it go further. We would have been happier with the standard if the prices reflected the quality but paid over £18 for 2 slices of cheesecake and 2 milkshakes (most of which we left). Have given 3 stars rather than 2 as found the service good and the atmosphere nice.

In this current climate I can understand why some may want to avert going to public places to socialise and lunch however Galloway Lodge take the greatest of care regarding the hygiene of preparing and serving customers food and always have done -current climate or not! Food and service is always second to none whether sitting in or taking away, great value, fabulous attentive staff and it is a fantastic welcoming place! Food is delicious!x! #noconcerns

Have visited this café/restaurant for many years for lunch, coffee and cake and burger nights. Service is a bit haphazard at times but not disappointed when food arrives. But on most recent visit with hygiene antenna alert due to corona virus spread I noticed the staff handled cake with bare hands when cutting it and lifting it onto plate. I feel this is not acceptable in the present climate or indeed at any time. Disappointed.

Would have been five stars as the food, as ever, was of excellent quality but service from young waitress was sullen and ungracious. Not a good ambassador for your worthy business.

Visited with family in Jan 2020 and we had a fabulous lunch. It was the first time I had visited and it has to be said it doesn’t look like much from the outside but what a little gem once you are in the restaurant!The menu is wide ranging and stuffed full of appetising choices, clearly with locally sourced ingredients. I had a chicken panini which was delicious, my companions had fish and chips and an amazing steak and haggis pie, both of which had clearly been homemade. One point was deducted as the chips were French fries rather than thick cut (a harsh judgement!) but otherwise rave reviews.The highlight, however, was the desserts. All were clearly homemade and the selection was extensive. We chose apple and rhubarb crumble and chocolate cake and both were just delicious. Oh, and last but not least, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and went to great lengths to make our visit a success.We have already made plans to return!

Stopped off here en route for Portpatrick - would definitely recommend. We often travel this way and have tried a few places for a cuppa and snack, but this is our preferred venue. Had a breakfast roll which was really good.

Have visited here a few times since my parents moved to the area in 2018. The menu is simple, but delicious. Often have something from the specials board. This visit I had a Turkey, stuffing, cranberry and pigs in blankets panini. It was lovely, turkey was cooked well and had a fair few slices in! And the panini was massive! Always a plus with me as I love my food. We ordered a bowl of chips, and I'm not sure how they cook them, but they are just perfect, crispy and tasty! The shop is great too, they sell their sauces and preserves along with gifts and other food items. Love coming here and will certainly be back as the service is fantastic too! Well done!

Lovely selection of products and very reasonably priced. We arrived on a packed lunch time only wanting tea, coffee and cakes and they welcomed us with open arms. Served quickly and the strawberry tart was a white and red dream. Real cream, a fat strawberry and crisp short pastry. Sadly, my enthusiasm to eat it, caused me to launch it on to my leggings and I spent the rest of the day with the remains on show to the world....but who cares, it was a memorable tart. Would definitely visit again and recommend to anyone visiting Gate House of Fleet. An excellent experience.

We enjoyed three visits here during a four day stay in Gatehouse, and the delicious coffees and incredible cakes kept us returning. A great choice for any veggie or vegan for lunch as well, with multiple options to choose from as well as soy milk for coffee. Very popular for lunch and we saw many tables had been reserved, but they do offer take aways too.

I’ve been to the Galloway Lodge quite a few times and it’s always been nice. A great choice of cakes as well as lunch time bites. A few puzzling things - I was suprised to see the lentil soup labelled Vegetarian, and even more suprised to see the Chicken and Rice also labelled Vegetarian, surely that can’t be right?

We were staying in gatehouse of fleet for a week. The gift shops are great selling there home made preserves and chutneys. The will make the into hampers for you. They also have a good selection of local products. Worth a visit

It was a real treat to find Galloway Lodge serving snack lunches on Sunday while out on a bike ride. The soups and sandwich deal was just what we needed
