Literally dropped in for a quick meal before a concert! No issues: found us a table ( Good Friday!) our 3 appetizer size dishes were amazing! The crab followed by tuna tartare! Perfection! Finely chopped; cucumber gremolata🍒 the crab was divine( I eat a lot of crab in Sri Lanka; so some experience) accompanied by a bottle of white Gia! Spot in! Friendly efficient knowledgeable service! Thanks so much!

Gamba gets a perfect score. The welcome was warm and friendly, the ambiance was elegant yet cozy and artsy, the food: sublime, refined, delicious. Gamba is one of those rare restaurant experiences that puts you into another dimension. When you leave you don’t walk; you float! I wrote a few words on a napkin expressing my appreciation… and I was presented with a complimentary copy of their cookbook! I was moved to tears ! Gamba is a true gem of a restaurant and I’ll certainly return on subsequent visits to Glasgow.

This excellent restaurant has been in business since 1998. It is not cheap but the quality of he experience shows why it has survived for this length of time when most others have not. It is not a great place if you don't like seafood because the choices for you will be limited. The wine menu is not extensive but there is plenty of variety and the description of the white wine we chose was accurate. It went extremely well with our food. We will definitely return.

I'll update this later pending the service but what a pain it is to reserve a table for this place online. Card details needed and 3rd party data controllers taking your info just to book a table?! It almost put me off tbh and if it wasn't for the fact my mother wants to go here for her birthday I'd have probably sacked it at the point of them asking for card details and went to gandolfi instead. Hopefully the meal is better than the intrusive and unnecessary booking system

Gamba Fish Restaurant is truly a hidden gem that I've cherished for years. It's easily one of my top 3 restaurants in Glasgow, especially if you're a seafood/fish lover like myself. The cosy atmosphere adds to the charm, and the staff are always lovely. The food? Always amazing. I can't visit without indulging in their seafood soup—it's a must-try, bursting with flavors of crabmeat, ginger, coriander, and those delightful tiny prawn dumplings. On this visit, I opted for the lobster thermidor with chunky chips, and it was exquisite. And let's not forget the passionfruit martinis—perfection in a glass! If you haven't been to Gamba yet, you're missing out. It's an experience not to be missed! 🍤🍸🦞

Fantastic restaurant! We came here for the first time for my birthday. We love sea food though can be quite fussy, but this restaurant did not disappoint. We both had the poached king prawn starter and it was delicious. Every bite was a burst of well put together flavours . I had lobster for mains and without doubt the best I’ve ever had. I loved that it came prepared. No need for equipment to pull it apart to find the meat. Cocktails delicious, desserts to die for! Service was first class. Had a mediocre dinner here recently and that was literally the last food for a week due to constant vomiting, nausea and all the rest you might imagine. Very unwell actually. My partner also felt ill but thankfully not to the same extent. Contacted the manager who asked if we had stool/blood samples taken by a doctor. Really? We had not, so he refused to accept any possibility of responsibility whatsoever. Atrocious customer care. Avoid.

We wanted to try this place as it has been here a long time and we have never quite got there. First off, service throughout was polite, warm and efficient. The food was good, and tasted great but presentation felt very much 'of it's time' and the menu could generally do with a revamp. Starters are expensive and if anything too big, and the soup was served in a bowl you expect to get in a seafront hotel. Toilets were clean but again felt like you were walking in to a 70s Glasgow pub. The whole concept feels tired and could do with aa refresh of the decor, food presentation and menu.

The chef and I must have different tastes. My main course, Halibut in Cullen Skink sauce, came with a substantial amount of smoked haddock. It had a powerful flavour. Have wanted to try Gamba for years but a combination of pandemic and move to Argyll thwarted my efforts. It was worth the wait… Service fantastic the minute you walk through the door. Seated at a table my partner could hear at (as requested on booking) which was much appreciated. Torn between the excellent value Saturday Special menu (2 courses and a glass of wine for £34.50 pp) and a la carte. Opted for former and wasn’t disappointed. Fish soup on both menus and it was packed full of flavour. I had the roasted hake with prawns and tomato chowder whilst my partner had the simply grilled sole. It was pure and one of the tastiest fish dishes we (both) have ever tried and that was without the accompanying chilli, coconut and lime yoghurt. Almond old fashioned to start, wine with meal, port and brandy with coffees (after one delightful sticky toffee pudding) added to the pleasure of the visit. Our first experience of Gamba can only be described as perfect and lived up to all expectations. Thank you

A wonderful, busy little restaurant with loads of character. As you enter your jacket is taken away and hung up for you as you go for a drink in the reception bar. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and the service is very prompt. As you’re taken to your table there is a great atmosphere throughout the restaurant and after you have taken your seat you are brought over water for the table, a canapé to get your taste buds excited and a warm bread roll is offered shortly after your order has been taken. All the food was incredibly fresh and well put together with every bite being just as amazing as the last. Even while the restaurant is full you don’t feel any pressure to finish you meal and leave and are offered more drinks at the table once you are finished your meal. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we are already looking forward to the next one - absolutely one of the best places to eat in Glasgow!

This could easily have been 5 stars. The food was excellent, mostly well presented with great sauces and flavours. We were quite surprised just how good some of these dishes were. The panco breadcrumbed scallop and fish could have had a bit more panache than just some of those portions plus sauce in a bowl and a half lemon, but it tasted good and was perfectly cooked. All were served on hot plates too which was great. Our issue with the restaurant was their wine service. First off, congratulations for having a Gewurztraminer, our favourite and difficult to find in restaurant lists. I don’t know whether the servers are trained to serve early with huge glass fills or not trained. Both are equally bad. Don’t serve the wine and then leave people waiting ages to order food. It was busy so maybe that’s excusable though there was no apology for taking a while. Again maybe too busy. However it’s red rag time when a server tries to pour almost the whole bottle at the first serving even when we said small glasses. The same happened with the second bottle and a different server. Our comments to the server didn’t register. This is either a way of trying to make people drink more or it’s just a lack of training and knowledge. A one third fill in a glass is as much as you should go otherwise you’re losing so much of the nose and flavour.

Have been to Gamba 3 times in the past and on those occasions it would have been awarded 5 star but our latest visit was a downturn in both quality and quantity from previous visits. Starters I chose the smoked salmon which I had before and the difference was very noticeable. The salmon was good but this time it came with a very average potato salad that was bland. Previously the sauce was superb but this time a poor version was served up. Also, the prawns that accompanied it were plentiful but this time I had none. Main courses for us both were OK but again seemed to lack in quality compared to previous visits. Quantity was also poor with the halibut a very small portion. Disappointed with our latest visit and value for money was not good.

Gamba not only serves delicious seafood in a chic environment, but it has been the single most consistent restaurant in the 10+ years we've been visiting it both as a family and with friends. Nice soup starter, but the teriyaki black cod was pretty bland, sitting on a bed of watery soy sauce. I’m a hard critic on the cod - lived in Asia for +25 years - but then again, if you’re going to put an Asian inspired dish on the menu you need to execute. Order a different main here and you’re probably very happy with the meal. Service was efficient and polite, if a little stiff / frosty. Perhaps that’s what’s expected of British fine dining? A really lovely meal. Smoked fish canape with a dry sherry; fish stonebass tartare; wild halibut in a memorable creamy sauce with Bergerac wine; cheeses with Bunnahabhainn. Very good meal and engaging service. Great atmosphere. Exactly what we were looking for

Perhaps my expectations were too high and I was a little disappointed

Had the pre-theatre menu and we both loved it. Great food, great service, great location. Didn't feel at all hassled even though we were reminded on booking that we'd need to be out by 7:15pm.

Loved the food. Really tasty fish soup to start. Sea bream was excellent. Good choice of wines to accompany our meal. Pleasant setting and friendly staff. Keen to get back again soon.

Some of the best oyster and scallop I've had the pleasure of eating. The dishes however lacked refinement. Monkfish came plated in a grease proof paper wrap. I dont understand why the dish wouldn't be presented properly?

Second visit, after nearly ten years. Still great, I had an amazing sole meuniere. The service was great. Will definitely be back.
