Some of the best fish and chips I've had, fresh and delicious. The portions were big and the prices quite reasonable. The waiting time was shorter than we were expecting for a Saturday evening.

WOW! WHAT A PLACE! I heard about this place from my mum and decided to try it out. And WOW! It was OUTSTANDING! As someone who loves a bit of British history and a good fish and chips, my expectations were fulfilled and more! What a lovely place. Affordable, lovely atmosphere, staff was amazing and polite and food came out in a good amount of time too! Highly recommend :)

The fish was slimy! Disgusting. Ended up winning it. It was inedible. The chips were so soggy. Really dreadful place.

The best fish shop in the country

The fish was not good. Atmosphere poor the way the food was dished up in dishes. bent did not lay on table properly very poor.

A fish and chip staple, the fine dining fish and chip shop... Great atmosphere, we dined in and had the infamous Xmas dinner, it was very nice indeed.

Busy when we went, so service was a bit slow and they unfortunately missed part of our order but they did quickly sort it out so not a major concern. Good prices for an evening meal, tasty sausages and cod.

Nice rustic place, a bit chilly in there, and my food wasn't very hot.

Unfortunately this used to be the best go to chip shop in Norwich. Since it changed hands it has been getting worse and worse. Honestly the chips on the market are way better and taste much nicer.

Fantastic food in what was once a ww2 bunker. Very unusual but very different. If you enjoy your fish n chips then you must try this plaice 😊

They always used to fry chips in beef fat, so avoided this place in the past, but apparently they have now changed to veg oil. Has always had great reviews and queues out of the door, so booked table online. Easy ordering through QR code on table and menu was extensive and interesting, with items not usually on offer in British fish and chip shops. Maybe I chose the wrong thing as I found my soft shelled crab to be incredibly greasy and lacking in flavour, but the chips were ok. Whilst the basement restaurant is atmospheric, part of it being cavelike and another part like an Anderson shelter, it was incredibly cold. The heating was just not fit for purpose on a winter's night. On leaving we actually thought it was warmer outside.

Been here so many times, the fish and chips are so good and I love that they serve their cod with a lemon wedge. They also have a lot of variety so plenty of things to try on the menu, all round perfect fish bar, 10/10 recommend. definitely a must try if you’re visiting Norwich 😎

Best chippie in Norwich by far!

The food was beautiful. Crispy batter on the fish, chips fried to perfection. The chicken nuggets were crispy yet tender. Overall, it’s up there with the best takeaway I’ve ever had.

Swam into Grosvenor's Fish Bar in Norwich today, and even though we sat 'next door' instead of in the cave, the place was still fintastic! The service behind the fish counter was reel class, and my '7 quid squid' and battered sausage were a real catch. My girlfriend wasn't hooked on the Waco Taco, so it's for sure traditional fish next time. Despite the fishy situation, we both had a whale of a time and loved the chips—totally off the scale!

Very good fish and chips, service was also very good. 5 star to staff handling a dum customer complaining they put the chips together and taking it out on staff asking them “what if it was a potato allergy?”… like… why do people come to a fish and chips restaurant in the first place - people are dum dums… Recommend!

First time visiting here. Lovely staff, quirky layout and tasty food. Highly recommend to friends and family :) Also a Shout out to Cara who always seemed to have a smile on her face even though she was busy 🙂 And also to the stuffing balls they were a delight!

Best fish and chips in Norwich. Always good service, never had a bad meal here and normally absolutely delicious. ( curry sauce is great here too!) There's also seating downstairs if rainy. Definitely our go to when in the city.

Credit where Credit is due, very good traditional fish & chips, including mushy peas. Excellent quick efficient service, good price. The "Bunker" is a unique subterranean seating area, to eat your food. Definitely visit again.

It's dirt simple really - there is nowhere better. Absolutely nowhere. The quality of food, the service, the atmosphere of the bomb shelter-like starting area. There is nothing that needs improvement. Nothing. Not a thing. I've just been in and even though I'm three sheets to the wind, I'm composed enough to know there's nowhere I'd rather have got dinner after the beer festival. I got the chips and chicken fillet burger and a pickled egg, and it was exactly what I needed, fresh to order. They forgot my bun and, rather than make me pay for one, accepted it as their error and added it anyway. This is without remembering the number of family lunches they've done for me and my family absolutely perfectly, in terms of service and quality. We always consider this place as our lunch venue whenever we come to town. Best chippy in the country, bar none. Look no further. Simple as.

Popped in for a quick Friday lunch whilst waiting for an appointment, left really dissapointed. Chips clearly had been sitting under heater all afternoon as they were dry, overcooked and utterly flavourless. Battered sausage was passable at best. Clear to see its lost its crown as the best chippy in Norwich since it changed hands.

lovely visit here this evening. I've lived in Norwich all my life and never visited! we sat downstairs and we all had an awesome meal. The ordering and paying couldn't be simpler then they bring food to you on lovely little trays. The chips were great, chilli con chips was a huge hit with our non fish and chip eater! The cod was dark golden, puffy and seriously meaty and the High Sea was a real treat Well done guys, clean tidy, well laid out, good service

Large portions, chips could be crispier

I’m surprised at recent negative reviews. We had lovely cod and chips with fantastic mushy peas. Bit pricey but everything is these days. For a birthday treat it was worth it. Extensive menu. Crispy batter and not greasy. Especially liked that the cod was skinless.

Omg I’m so glad I found this fish and chip shop, they do gluten free batter (all cooked in the same fryers) and wow it’s delicious, first time in about 10 years that I have a decent gluten free cod and chips. You can eat in or take away. Good value for money. Throughly enjoyed it. Staff are lovely and friendly and very helpful. Definitely recommend and will be back regularly for more

Been visiting this chip shop for years, this is the first time I was left disappointed. While the prices go up, the portion sizes seem to go down. The food was over cooked, and way to crispy, this used to be the best chip shop in Norwich and always cooked to perfection, sadly wasn’t on this latest visit.

Such a shame! I remember when the Grosvenor first opened and gave Aldeburgh Fish and Chip shops a run for their money. We used to go all the time and recommended it to everyone we knew. Sadly those days appear to be over. Had another meal there tonight and again the fish was utterly flavourless; it literally tasted of nothing other than the batter. I wonder if it was fresh? The chips were ok but pretty meagre portions. And it's expensive! Cod/haddock £9.50, chips £3.50, whilst Aldeburgh fish is about £5.50 & you'd expect Aldeburgh to be pricier. I don't mind spending more when food is good but the only thing my meal had going for it was it was very hot. Come on Grosvenor! You were once the best chip shop in town, you can be again if you get your fish supplier sorted out.

Had a rare day off so decided to finally eat in at Grosvenor's. The regular cod was a good-sized portion, the batter was crispy, and the chips were fluffy. And the downstairs seating area was cool, dark, and bunker-like, which I liked. I can't fault the food, I don't get out much as I also own a food business, but if I ever fancy fish n chips again while in Norwich, I know where I'll be going.

The food was lovely, but they charged extra for eating in for the service and the service was awful, staff were incredibly rude when we arrived and impatient unwilling to help when my partner asked for some sauces which was an extra charge

I’ve been a couple of times recently, and got charged a higher price than is on the menu on the wall. I understand about inflation but they need to update their prices. The fish and chips is still good. Update: seems fixed.

The food here is always wonderful, a regular visitor! The only downside is occasionally the staff will miss things on your order. This has happened on several occasions, when saveloys/sausages have been ordered as part of a larger order and paid for to takeaway, upon getting home and unpacking they have been missed. So paid for food to not have it! This could be helped by packaging them up separately rather than putting them in the chip wrapping as the staff seem to miss orders other than chips regularly.

Worst fish and chips in the world. Absolutely no flavour. Just cooked fat. Seriously, there was no taste in the three different dishes we had. No seasoning of any sorts, just tasteless oily batter and covering tasteless fish... Truly revolting

Friendly staff. Foods great. Spring rolls are lovely and not battered which I prefer.

Food was stone cold when it was brought to our table. Yes they gave me another and refunded the original, but even the replacement was stone cold too. The waitress was first class and very apologetic, but nothing from the management whatsoever. The bottle of Prosecco we had was at room temperature too, so that was replaced. The Chef's here need to know that it's the food that needs to be hot and not the drinks at the table. I wouldn't eat here again even if it was free.

Food prices have rocketed since my last visit nearly 4 months ago regular chips are now £3 and large £4 for takeaway it’s turned from The best chip shop in Norwich to the most expensive which is a shame as there good quality just too expensive now to have now and again it’s turned in to like once every 2 months being affordable now

Lovely fish and chips though I asked for haddock and charged and given a large without being asked. It was a bit greasy and when asking for ketchup was told 40 pence each one

Golden chips, with the perfect amount of crunch one of the best, if not the best, chip butty I've ever had! Staff were also super quick on the Google chat function to clarify that their chips were vegetarian - much appreciated :)

After my last review with overcooked fish I'm glad to say everything was back to normal and superbly cooked fish and chips. Great meal and enjoyed by us all. Light batter, beautiful cod and fluffy chips crisp on the outside. One of the best chippies in Norfolk.

I had plaice & chips. The plaice was tasteless. I would guess that it was probably frozen. The menu is ridiculously enormous. As for the quirky basement, I found it chilling & disturbing. It reminded me of the cellar in which the German held his daughter & her children for years. The decor was horrible. Metal & wood. In one area it was almost like night time. I shall not be returning.

Hands down the best Fish and Chips I've ever had!

I ordered large chips, large sausage, bread roll and curry sauce wrap up for take away for £8.70 The customer only me wasn't busy at all. It was my fault won't take receipt and trust the lady who served me. I just find out when I'm home. She didn't give me "bread roll and curry sauce" and 2 days later I went to the shop and told them about mistake. I got refunded and they gave me chocolate for apology =)

had the sausage special and it was so good! came with sauce (i chose gravy) so lush!!! also the customer service is brilliant highly recommend

Always great food with the added enjoyment of the unique internal dinning area. The amount and variety of menu choices are amazing. Worth a visit if you are in Norwich.

We ate here 8 years ago when we discovered the place by accident. It’s a very tiny fish & chip shop so people order & wait outside but there is seating downstairs; which is very quirky. The fact people will wait outside tells you all you need to know. We ordered fish & chips & managed to sit at the same table we sat at 8 years ago. Our food was brought down to us very quickly & was incredibly tasty. The fish was beautiful. It’s a very quirky restaurant & well worth a visit. There’s so much choice, not just your big standard cod & chips.

Excellent food, fish and chips amazing. I had king prawns and my husband cod. Both were absolutely gorgeous. Members of Staff are friendly, efficient and extremely professional. I genuinely recommend. 5 stars well deserved

This is my go to fish bar in norwich! It has such a great atmosphere, with the underground bunker. Food is beyond brilliant! I’m slowly making my way through the menu, lots to choose from - Waco taco, the high sea, ground beast burger -never would have thought a chip shop burger would taste soooo good! The staff are attentive, courteous and go above and beyond to provide a fantastic service.

I went in on Wednesday 29th March at 11.30am, with my girlfriend and her grandson, to buy 3 portions of chips. The chips, as usual, were very good but the female serving us was very surly and impatient. Grosvenor Fish Bar, don't let your good name vanish quickly with employees like this!!

A lovely piece of cod but spoiled by being way overcooked and it resulted in the fish being chewy. The usual fryer did not appear to be in today and more training or care is needed. The chips were first class though. Can forgive one poor meal in view of past experiences but at current prices it needs to be better and makes me concerned that it may be repeated and standards might be slipping.

Superb as always, and by far the best chip shop in the city centre. Lots of seating downstairs in their 'bunker' and a lovely atmosphere always. Service is prompt and friendly. Coffee isn't up to much, but I guess that's not what you're here for. Always worth a visit, especially on a rainy day where chips from the market doesn't seem so appealing.

Excellent food! Big portions! Great friendly staff! I try to have something different every time as there’s such a variety in meals to choose from.

The racism of the workers is amazing. My friends and I were going to eat here, but we bought some snacks. When we sat down, the male worker told us we couldn't eat here, then turned to the other female worker and said, "Look, I got rid of these people." Then they both burst out laughing. I am writing this review to show the owner how his staff treat their guests and we decide not to visit this restaurant again, even if the food is good. To reply the owner, Pretty impressive fix, but you weren't even there. We were going to sit down and order, and we made it very clear to the men that we were going to order, we didn't want to take food and use your place to eat, we just wanted to eat your food with other food. If pushing people away with a straight face is the right thing to do, if that's how you're supposed to be served, then I apologize.

Delicious food and friendly staff! Last time we was there they had a ticket system and shouted your number you collected your order which is great! It gets busy in there.

Amazing soft-shell crab burger! Definitely worth coming to visit just for this alone! Mackerel was juicy and batter was thin and crispy. Chips was perfectly fried and very generous portions! Must stop by and try!

So valentine's night, needed some food, messaged in not only was it incredibly busy but they took my order and remembered me and got my food to me within 10 mins of me turning up even though the shop was full with a que down the street. 100% will be back such a lovely team and food is great!!

This is a very busy shop, but with quick and good service. The food is amazing both in cost and taste. Thoroughly enjoyed my 1st visit and will be definetly back, if only for the 12" sausages!! Hungry?? Definetly visit again and recommend.

We eat the in fish and chips in the basement which was like eating a world war bunker. Unusual but not especially exciting which had no atmosphere as we were the only diners. My wife had crab in burger bun which was not memorable but...
