Hawksmoor Seven Dials in City of London, Westminster

Starters — salmon and crab were delicious. Down hill from there. Chateaubriand was utterly terrible. Charred/burned/tasteless. Massively over priced. No ambiance to speak of, it was so noisy, off the charts.

Had a Sunday lunch here for my wife’s birthday and the meat was really chewy. I didn’t complain at the time as I didn’t want to spoil the special day. The rest of the food was excellent, but considering this is meant to be a top quality steakhouse, the quality of the Meat was zero rating. Also although the waiter did say happy birthday not even giving a chocolate was a bit mean. The restaurant was packed though mostly tourist, so I don’t suppose anybody cares about a local resident 

Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable service, also took into account we were celebrating a special occasion. Helpful with advising gluten free options (ceoliac) They also have an excellent sommelier. We ordered from the lunch specials which had plenty of choice and were happy with the quality of the steak and sides, with the steak cooked to our preferences. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, tables are not too close together and it feels spacious, although it is underground. This was our second time and we will be returning again.

Incredible and never lets us down, food was sensational

The best steak in the world. If you want the very best dry aged beef cuts cooked to perfection with flawless attentive service and a great ambience perfectly lit, look nowhere else in the world other than Hawksmoor.

Mediocre at best, it’s incredibly difficult to find a decent steakhouse in this part of the world and this isn’t it.

I want to say that I’ve had some fantastic meals in various Hawksmoor’s, especially Manchester, but last night’s was poor. Very poor! The FoH staff were really good and I couldn’t fault the service. The food though… We had the pate & the Caesar salad for Starters. I had a Caesar Salad in Marco Pierre White’s the week before & it was delicious & about the same price. This was 5 or 6 Romaine lettuce leaves, with very little sauce, anchovies or cheese & what there was all dressed the top two leaves. We didn’t get steaks for main, just burgers. On all previous occasions these have been served pink & juicy, but last night they were like chewing a hockey puck. My girlfriend couldn’t bite through the edges & we even struggled to cut the burger with steak knives! Once we did, we were rewarded with beige, dry, totally overcooked meat. I’d go back to any of the other Hawksmoors I been to, but they’d have to pay me to go back to Seven Dials! I hope you are reading this & thinking “how odd, ours were lovely”, but unfortunately I doubt it! If they can’t get a burger right, I dread to think how they treat their steaks!

Four of us had lunch at the Hawksmoor Seven Dials on 15 March 2024. Excellent meal, brilliant service and buzzy ambiance - highly recommended.

My main problem was that I brought a very good bottle of wine which was not treated gently when opened and decanted, resulting in sediment in all our glasses. In the past, they have been very respectful of good wine. Other restaurants such as St John still are.

We had the best time. Staff was wonderful - they were accommodating to my gluten allergy and just fun to talk to. Really cool little place with awesome food

Great beef, well sourced & nicely cooked. Delicious chips, sauces and sides. Good old Shaky Pete’s and 3 excellent wines by the glass for drinks all served up by a great front of house team. Pretty much the perfect dinner.

Food and service was excellent, for my clients it was their first time and they enjoyed it.

We had great experience in general. The restaurant allows guests to bring their own wine on Monday evening. Very good!

Our first night in London and it happened to be Mother's Day so everything was packed. We made a reservation in advance but the system moved it to the next day and we didn't realize. Thankfully, they were able to still seat us and we got to enjoy traditional Sunday Dinner. It was delicious and we had a great time!

This was my second time eating here. Always consistently excellent food. I had a weird run-in with my server where she insisted I had had an issue at their sister location the evening before and when I said I hadn’t she said “well you’re a familiar face since you’re here regularly and we’ll take good care of you” while comping my drink. It made me feel a bit awkward since I hadn’t dined with them in nine months and even then it was only once.

Excellent steak restaurant with great service from our waiter. Would definitely recommend.

Very good sunday roast and the scallops are the best

The food was delicious and the team were super lovely! More than i would usually like to spend - but if you’re treating yourself it really is worth it

Ate here numerous times but this time for whatever reason it wasn’t very good at all. Ran out of lobster by 9pm, Had to wait nearly an hour for our food, when it arrived it was ok at best. Shame as it’s normally really good. Would still recommend just disappointed that a well planned meal ended up being a bit of a let down.

It was my friend’s Milestone birthday and the evening was perfect! We ordered the chateaubriand 950g which was perfect for the 3 of us. The drinks and sides were perfect, we had a great meal and a lovely surprise birthday pudding for my friend.

Venue is always lovely with a buzzing atmosphere inside. The hostess was so welcoming also! House red wine was beautiful. We went for the pre theatre express menu and it was ok for £27. It took about 30 mins after ordering for the food to arrive so I would say go there earlier than usual if you’re going to the theatre for 7. I felt my steak seemed to be half the size of everyone else’s and sadly nowhere near the medium rare I asked for. My dad’s steak was supposed to be medium well but was almost bleeding, he didn’t want to make a fuss so just swapped with me. They also forgot one of our sides and we had to ask three times for it but the servers were all super polite and friendly and were doing their best. Desserts were very tasty. It’s a good priced option for before theatre but the a la carte dining was a better experience last time I went.

Love Hawksmoor in Edinburgh and NYC but this was not good - scallops and squash salad were good - the roast was tasteless and as tough as shoe leather - sorely disappointed- solid martini and pretty good wine list

One of the best Sunday roasts I’ve ever had accompanied by a wonderful Douro red and followed by a gorgeous port. Great service and a lovely convivial atmosphere too, first rate all round!

Very expensive for an ok steak. No. &180 head with wine . I know, a lot of wine but no!! Not worth it by a long shot I would say avoid

Was seated but waiting 30/ 40 minutes to have our order taken. It then took another hour before we received our food, and it was missing things from our order. Service was not great, and I thought they were a little cheeky to put a service charge of o er £30 onto the bill, I asked for it to be removed. I'm not sure if I'd go again, to be honest.

Was pretty disappointed overall Came here with 2 friends for dinner and nothing lived up to any sort of expectations With a place like this you expect to get what you pay for and you certainly do not An overdone lonely steak on an empty plate - there are steak places two streets down twice as good for half the price Not only that, throughout the night you would see rubbish get brought through the resturant- food containers, mop buckets etc Just was not up the scratch for what ended up at £70pp (we also didn’t order much by the way) and wouldn’t return

We ate at Seven Dials as it was fairly close to our evenings entertainment. We had the express menu, both starting with Yorkshire pudding and potted beef. I love this starter and have had many times. No disappointment, it was as tasty as always. Next came our steak and fries. We ordered buttered greens to accompany as we didn’t realise there was a salad. Is this new?? Anyways the salad was delicious. I would have happily had a plate of that! Steak was nicely cooked although a little over seasoned for me. I would have loved to have a pudding but sadly had to rush. Nice meal, fairly good value, be back again soon.

Out of the many excellent restaurants in London, Hawksmoor has to be one of the very best for the sheer quality of ingredients, ambience, cocktail and wine menu and superlative customer service. Within the Hawksmoor family, the Hawksmoor Seven Dials location is our go-to place for any occasion, special or otherwise, or just because we feel like treating ourselves to a great meal in a place where you are welcomed like old friends. Every member of the team makes a difference in their own way, which all contributes to a fabulous customer experience...the ingredients, care and attention with the cuts of meat and menus, the pairing of wines and cocktails - it's just the absolute complete package. Love this place!

2 of us ate on Wednesday and it was very busy. Unfortunately, we waited nearly an hour and a half for the food (mains only) and when it arrived the steak, a beautiful 850g chateaubriand, was heavily over seasoned with salt. The staff were doing their best and compensated with 2 free drinks and a small discount on the bill. It was a shame as it was our anniversary. Likely I won’t be recommending based on this experience.

Worst dining experience ever. Will NOT go there again. The noise level was so high that my friend and I had to shout to communicate with each other. I checked the sound level using my Apple Watch and it was 90-95 decibels on average. The noise was so bad I had to wear earplugs, normally only used at a concert / loud event. The food took ages to come (medium and medium rare) steak. Totally unpleasant

The Monday BYO wine is just amazing! Food as good as ever, staff really friendly and personable. Only thing was that it was pretty loud so not always easy to hear what was being said.

Always enjoyed meals at Hawksmoor. Reliable, slightly on the pricier side with the steaks but good nevertheless.

Never a bad streak at Hawksmoor and the Seven Dials is my favourite for a casual business lunch.

Hawksmoor used to have the best roast in London. The plate would be filled with meat and veg and we would leave feeling full. Unfortunately the portions have been significantly reduced and I left feeling hungry. Very disappointing and after years of regular roasts at Hawksmoor, I think it's sadly time to find somewhere else.

I've never been disappointed as I go to Hawksmoor for a Sunday Roast - I will go again and again just for their Roast

The perfect pre theatre dinner - the food was outstanding- as was the service

As always the food was amazing, the service fantastic and the atmosphere great. Busy but not loud and very pleasant. We felt well looked after and our waiter was great helping with some food choices and ensuring we had everything we needed and asked for. Would highly recommend, we have been a few times and will return no doubt.

We normally have the best rib eye available anywhere. Last night fell well short for the first time in 10 years. The meat was over cooked and was no where near as soft and tasty as we have come to expect.

Had the a lovely time it was a special occasion. Our waiter was really nice and attentive. Only problem was one of the steaks was fatty and grissly but I was given a pudd to compensate which was ok. The place is lovely and we have been before so I would definitely recommend. We will be back

The waitress threw the glass of red wine at me and they only offered a card for the dry cleaning, which I won't use because I only have one night in Ln. They didn't give me any discount and they didn't replace my glass.

Great place for lunch or dinner, slightly on the expensive side, but it is in central London! The service was great and food delicious, only small comment the cheese wasn’t great quality but apart from that everything was lovely.

The quality of food at Hawksmoor is outstanding. The express menu is excellent value but they don't stint on quality or portion size. The staff are super friendly too.

A really lovely lunch celebrating my Mum's birthday. Staff were attentive and gave her a little birthday message on her dessert. The food was delicious and the restaurant was beautiful! Would highly recommend

The venue is beautiful but for the money - the staff were very hit and miss as was the food. Overall, we didn't have a great experience and chose to have our dessert and after dinner drinks elsewhere. Hopefully they were having an 'off' night as we have heard good things about Hawksmoor so were disappointed with our first experience.

Scallops were good, the rest subpar. Steak was mediocre and definitely not worth the price.

Great food but Very noisy made it difficult to hear waitress

Hostess could be nicer to customers. Welcoming them with a grim expression and failing to inquire if my friend needed cloak services made them feel unwelcome and disappointed with the overall attitude displayed.

We had the express menu as neither my friend and I are big eaters. We did upgrade to the fillet and also added vegetables. The mackerel salad starter was delicious and there was plenty of it. The steak was cooked to perfection, and with the vegetables and fries very filling. We finished off with the peanut cookie and chocolate sundae which were also delicious. We had a carafe of wine which was very pleasant to. The tables are quite close together and the restaurant was very busy and noise level was high. I quite liked being in the main part of the restaurant however and although quieter in the bar area the atmosphere wasn't so appealing. So when I go again I will know that it maybe noisy.

Absolutely delicious meal. Great service. Lovely martinis. We were two very happy girls. And our theatre reservation was taken into consideration which made the whole experience stress free and enjoyable.

Friendly and relaxed ambiance with courteous service. Only issue we encountered was with the cutlery; the steak knives should have been sharper.

I've been there as my friend recommended this place for excellent meet, amazing service in special occasion(birthday). I had a different experience maybe because I chose a different restaurant (covent garden)than his(knightbridge). No one asked to taste the wine before serving it, no oysters as starter wete available ,waiter said its because its a little kitchen in seven dials, t bone was no longer available (7pm) I asked for an alternative for my kids and I've been advised similar meet, cool but so expensive for a 11 and 8 girls when i got the bill at the end.... We did spent a good time but I've seen and had better experiences in restaurants that are not so famous/popular...

We really enjoyed our meal, we had Chateaubriand which was delicious, the restaurant was buzzing but not too noisy and it looked great. All of the staff were really attentive and friendly and Sergio looked after us very well. A really great experience, if we lived in London we would be regulars, definitely recommended.

Lovely food, lovely staff albeit the service of the food was a tad slow. The quality was delicious and they kindly wrote happy birthday on the dessert. The restaurant was a little noise, I found myself needing to shout.

Hawksmoor never disappoints. It is highly recommended.

The steaks (rump and rib eye) and particularly the bone marrow gravy were lovely, as was the ceaser salad. The butternut squash starter was also lovely. The lychee martini was very tasty ( I ordered two as a result). The service was not particularly fast once we were sat at the table, it was a Sunday evening. Overall it was a nice experience.

We've been to Hawksmoor a fair few times, especially the covent garden restaurant. The food is always great, the bone marrow and beef carpaccio are sharing starter favourites, and of course their stakes are brilliant. However, at this visit, the service was a little lacking. They forgot part of our drink and food orders - when we chased the drink order it swiftly came and was deducted from the bill, but we didn't chase the extra olives we had ordered as the timing was off by then. Furthermore, I had informed them about the birthday celebration prior to the visit, and also reminded them once we got to the venue, yet there was no desert/celebration with it. I wouldn't necessarily bring it up but the table next to us had something brought out from the kitchen for their birthday celebration.

This is easily our favourite restaurant. The food and cocktails were fantastic as usual and the staff friendly and attentive but never intrusive. The Seven Dials branch is the best one having tried a few others.

We were given a complimentary meal for 3 in any Hawksmoor restaurant due to a bad experience in the Manchester restaurant. They were fantastic! Waiter had already been told of the situation and was super friendly and accommodating. All of our steaks were done to perfection. The dessert we ordered (and obviously expected to pay for, as it was an extra) was comped by the manager! Truly above and beyond service. I will most definitely be returning and recommending to others!

Had a really lovely evening celebrating my daughter’s birthday. The place was busy as it was Saturday night. It had a great vibe about it and even though busy, our table was attended to really well. Our waiter was fabulous. I didn’t catch his name but he gave amazing service and advice on the dishes on the menu. The food was excellent.

Normally love hawksmoor and have been to many across London. Our last experience at seven dials wasn’t as good as previous visit - PQE asked for medium rare steaks and they were more on the medium side and didn’t have the usual char around edges; peppercorn sauce just tasted like a pot of warm cream. All other sides were lovely as were starters

We absolutely love this place. Everything was perfect and they made the birthday meal extra special!

The food was good, but we seemed to be forgotten a couple of times. We had to ask to be seated whilst in the bar as they forgot we had a table booked. Then we had to ask for our drinks twice - once for the starter and once for the main, as they forgot to bring the wine. For the money that you pay here, the service wasn’t great, although very friendly. Unfortunately, I think the Hawksmoor has gone a bit downhill in recent years., which is a real shame.

Pedro our server was super helpful on choosing the right cut, checked in plenty and was super friendly!
