From start to finish probably one of the best meals we have ever had . The small compact restaurant is warm and cosy. The staff are attentive, friendly and very knowledgable about the dishes . The lobster was delicious and the chips cooked in beef fat were irresistible- the steak was cooked perfectly . The cheese and biscuits were good , and a huge bowl of chocolate brownie went down a treat . We were here celebrating a birthday in Amble for a few days . We were pleasantly surprised at this beautiful quaint town, with plenty of fabulous restaurants to choose from . We felt this one was the best ! We went to 4 while we were there .

This has to be the best restaurant in Amble. The restaurant was recommended to us by the owners of the holiday apartment we stayed in & we were not disappointed. 5 stars for service - the waiter was fantastic and so friendly.5 stars for the atmosphere and decor - it’s absolutely beautiful. 5 stars & more for the food - it was so good we went twice during our holiday. The seafood risotto is absolutely delicious. My family even had oysters which they loved. Even our dog was welcome and he was given a fresh bowl of water on arrival. We will certainly be back the next time we visit Amble. Well done to the owners and staff of this fabulous little restaurant, you are amazing.

Visited for an early evening meal for two. Very small intimate restaurant with a small but excellent menu concentrating on fish/seafood but alternatives for both vegetarian and non fish eaters. Very nice atmosphere (dog friendly so be aware if you don’t like them in restaurants, we had ours and the table next to us two, all big dogs but very well behaved). Excellent service. The food was superb, my wife and I are not really fish lovers but we both dived into the fish side and could not have enjoyed the meal more. My filleted sea bass curry was absolutely brilliant. Good sized portions, small but good beer and wine selection. Very good value for such a high quality meal. Would highly recommend and we will return when next in the area. Well done to the chef and staff for making it such an enjoyable experience. Oh yes, given the size then best to book ahead I would suggest.

Each year for our anniversary we come here,we have never been disappointed, this year was no exception. We were seated in this comfortable restaurant, given complimentary prosecco, which we appreciated, by Ryan and his wonderful staff. My wife had the mushroom risotto with roasted walnuts and st.agur cheese, pea shoots.I had slow roasted pork belly with crushed potatoes, samphire ,parsnip and pea shoot salad. This was followed by Eton mess. The food was accompanied by lovely bottle of shiraz. The atmosphere in this restaurant is complemented by a great choice of background music. The staff are friendly and you can tell that they are enthused to work in such a convivial environment. Five stars are not enough to award such a great place. We will ,without doubt, keep returning.

This is a special unique restaurant. With only 12 guests at a time it feels more like a private dinner and you can watch the chef prepare one table at a time. Perfect lobster and bouillabaisse. ‘Slow food’ and all the better for it to enjoy a leisurely dinner rather than the more normal rush. Went back for equally good fish pie and fish and chips lunch. Not cheap but excellent value

We had booked on our first trip to Amble in June but unfortunately due to a refurbishment that ran over Jaspers had to cancel. Thankfully we were able to book on our 2nd visit to Amble and visited last night from the welcome by Connor everything was perfect, Scallop starter delicious, Fish Pie - don’t expect your normal fish pie covered in mash potato this is a revelation so rich & full of lovely fish, Mushroom Risotto, spot on. Sadly we couldn’t manage a dessert. It is only a small restaurant but so well ran by only a team of 3. Can’t recommend enough if your visiting Amble.

We visited here from the Scottish Borders after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. We hadn't been in this area and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Northumberland Coast. Our lunch was the highlight of the day. The bistro is small, cosy and welcoming. Our waiter was friendly and attentive and helped us feel at ease. The food was so fresh and tasty and very well presented. It would be a shame to come to Amble and not relish the freshest of local seafood and this is exactly what we did. Sardines, scallops, crab, langoustines prepared to order. Lovely background music added to the atmosphere. Well done and thankyou.

Their restaurant is tiny, so I would imagine that booking a table is a must. When you do, you will certainly not be disappointed - the food is freshly cooked and clearly benefits from locally sourced produce. Both the main menu and the specials board were primarily aimed at fish lovers, however there are meat options as well - both my daughter & I took the meat route with a main course of beef fillet served with roast potatoes, broccoli & black pudding. This was perfectly cooked and presented - they even took on board my strange request for the beef to be cooked med/well done :-)My daughter had Eton Mess & I had Ice Cream with Espresso & Alnwick (Almond) rum to follow - all washed down with a good quality Chilean Malbec. The service & food were top quality and we have already booked for a return visit.Highly recommended !!!They are dog friendly as a neighbouring table had their labrador puppy with them - top marks for it's behaviour :-)

We went as a family group on the eve of my mother's 80th birthday. Felt much happier here than we did when we went to a place in Alnmouth the following day.The food is to die for! Standout dishes were chilli crab soup, Amble langoustines and scallops to start. Main courses of note were the Monk fish n chips, lobster from the Specials board and for me the curried sea bass - delicate, complex and complimentary flavours - I loved this dish, it was sublime! The venue is relaxed, not formal and the team are wonderful. The welcome is warm, the place is small but with with a slightly (and tasteful) rustic feel to it. The wines are carefully chosen for quality. We had two glasses each. I had a whole fish (catch of the day) and my husband had the fillet. There were only six people in and the others already had their main courses. Our wait was 30-40 minutes (rather too long) but the meat and fish were beautifully cooked and nicely presented. I had to ask for a plate for my fish detritus. I had a potato which was simply cut in half and sautéed. The vegetables seemed to be presented as al dente, but they weren’t really as they still had a ‘raw taste’. It’s definitely a four star plus, but having eaten in five star restaurants and paid less - it doesn’t quite reach that standard..

We ordered two seafood linguine's which were cooked to order. Arrived to collect, and the smell of it cooking was heavenly! Being new to Amble having just bought a cottage in town Jasper's was the first place we had eaten from and certainly did not disappoint. The portions were huge and full of shellfish, the staff were extremely friendly and the restaurant would have a great ambience when allowed to open again. We shall certainly be back, ordering takeaways until Boris says we can properly dine in style!

Although closed for sit down meals Jasper’s is open for wonderful food to take away. I treated myself to broccoli and Stilton soup with focaccia bread. It was lovely tasty change. They have a wide range of options from the restaurant menu to takeaway. A welcome change during these restricted times.

Booked online for dinner whilst on hols in the area back in early October, having seen reviews on Tripadvisor. Not disappointed, food was excellent and had local fish menu items (mussels starter and sea bass main). Owner was very welcoming and managed effective social distancing between diners at tables in this rather cosy restaurant.

Was meant to be getting married today but this was postponed due to COVID. My partner and I decided to treat ourselves and our 4 year old daughter for a meal and found Jasper’s through trip adviser. The service was great, the menu was very extensive and the waitress pointed out that we could order off menu for our daughter if we wish (we didn’t need to as she loves fish). We ordered lots of starters to share and dessert. It was all fantastic. The chef came out afterwards to chat. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to others.

The restaurant is so welcoming with a fabulous ambiance. The service is fantastic & the waitress Georgia is very friendly. The Chef, to say he does all the cooking by himself, is absolutely spectacular. Even after a busy shift, he was super pleasant to speak to & was very interesting. The food was unreal, I’d say the best we have tasted. The fish is really fresh & each bite is full of flavour. We had the spiced pear crumble & bread and butter pudding for dessert, both were so tasty. No wonder this restaurant is 5 stars on here. Hopefully not long until they get a Michelin star, they really deserve one. Good luck with your sister restaurant & thank you for making our anniversary so special. We can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!

We recently had one of our best ever meals out at Jaspers in Amble. We went for the monkfish curry with a twist and the bouillabaisse for our mains. Both dishes were really beautifully presented and utterly delicious. The food was truly fabulous and the service second to none. We can’t wait to return and are still talking about it now. Good luck to the opening of your sister restaurant in Morpeth.

This was a birthday celebration supper, just the two of us. We sat down at 4 and left at 7. Everything about our meal was special. The wine was exquisite. The starter imaginative and perfectly cooked and presented (scallops and belly pork). Main course (monkfish with lightly curried or spiced sauce, and belly pork) was refined, full of taste, generous and beautifully presented. Cheeses lovely. Bread fresh. Service open, efficient, charming and just right. Afterwards outside we spoke with strangers from the next table who I hope will become long term friends. And my partner was as always perfect. What an evening. Never found such restaurant joy down south!

Cosy ambience and we look forward to visiting the new restaurant when we are in Amble again!

Another fabulous meal at Jasper’s to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Attentive customer service with delicious food from an inspiring menu.We went for the scallops with pork belly and langoustines for starters and the ‘catch of the day’ curried (Monkfish) and Ribeye steak. All fabulous! Even though we were more than full we know that the desserts are to die for so managed to find room for the crumble of the week (rhubarb & ginger) and the cheese plate, again all gorgeous!Highly recommend

Starters good (oysters and scallops), mains we both had the ‘specials’ monkfish but unfortunately both sadly lacking. My monkfish in white wine was overcooked fish, undercooked tenderstem broccoli which was difficult to even cut with a knife, served with three pieces of bland potato in what can only be described as a salty dishwater sauce. I would have been ashamed to serve this up to anyone to be honest. My husband had the curried monkfish ‘special’ supposedly with coriander and coconut, both of which were entirely missing. I tasted his and he tasted mine just so we could be sure we weren’t missing something. So very disappointing! Front of house was very welcoming and we did not mind waiting an hour for our starters as we were told everything was cooked fresh. Fair enough except that there were only 6 people in total in the place and two had already been served mains. What takes 1 hour to open oysters and cook 3 scallops with cold pea purée? Anyway, the starters were good so that is forgivable. Mains were shocking, sorry. We will not be back. Chef needs to go back to catering college or go and eat at somewhere like Wheelers at Whitstable to see how seafood should be served. The monkfish definitely died in vain. Cheese board for dessert was good but we had to order it as we were still hungry after starter and mains! We so wanted to enjoy Jaspers. Anyone putting compliments on here doesn’t know what a real seafood restaurant is (unless Jaspers had a stand-in chef on evening of 24 September?)

We booked a table for lunch and got there just as it was opening. We were seated after a lovely young waitress cleaned our table. There was a special board which I ordered from. I chose scallops (2) in minted pea purée with truffle oil (£10), cooked perfectly followed by monkfish which was shown to me and looked colossal (was quite a small piece when it arrived) it was accompanied by sprouting broccoli and potatoes. Hubby has chilli crap soup followed by fillet steak, black pudding and white truffle oil & fried potatoes. We decided after a break and seeing the only other occupied table having the cheese board with port to order it also. The chef had ran out of cheese so popped to Tesco to buy a fruit cheese and cheddar & smoked, not the best selection ever & a very small portion. The music & ambience is very relaxing, however it was cold as the front door was wide open & the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest I’ve ever used. We would go back & yes recommend.

We visited in Thursday 17th September there were 4 of us ...we all had high expectations and I’m afraid we were underwhelmed. None of our Starters Or mains arrived Together which is a pet hate of mine when I’m out to dine I want us all to eat at the same time. I had the mussels which were fine but the sauce was watery and had a strange flavour...there was the smallest square of bread served with it. The mains were served after about an hour and 20 minute wait ..far too long to wait and again the mains weren’t served at the same time. My friend had the catch of the day and it was a small portion with only one piece of sea bass fillet we gave feedback about this and were disappointed with the response we got really as there was no gesture made just that it had been fed back to the chef. The other 3 meals were good sized. Two of the part had the rhubarb crumble and said it was excellent and rather a large portion ! The other 2 of us shared A cheese board This again was extremely small , three slithers of cheese is the only way I can describe it so I asked for more cheese Which were fetched ...however we were charged £5 for the extra cheese which was disappointing and I feel this should not have been charged for. We knew it was going to be pricey and that wasn’t an issue ...however the food was overall disappointing.

We stayed a week in nearby Alnmouth. Our dinner at Jaspers was our favourite dinner of the week. The food was delicious; I had scallops followed by the local catch of the day. Both very good. There were 5 of us, and we all ordered different main courses. It took a while for these to arrive, but when they did all 5 of us agreed our meals were excellent. Staff are very welcoming and entertaining; the ambience is excellent. The immediate area is not especially attractive, but do not be put off, this is a restaurant to try out.

Went today for lunch with my husband, I had previously been in touch with Jaspers to ask if they could do me a seafood platter for one, as was a special treat for me and my husband does not like seafood. I had asked for a whole lobster but no oysters and they came through. It was absolutely amazing and I was in seafood heaven !!! So fresh, so delicious and so sweet. The young man that served us was lovely and added to the experience. A lovely treat all round. Thank you.

We were really looking forward to our meal at Jaspers having read the reviews. However, we didn’t feel that the food quite lived up to expectations. The starters were lovely but a little expensive ( £10 and £11 for 2 scallops with peas/black pudding). The mains were okay but again we had expected something special for around £20 each. I had a dessert which was lovely. The ambiance and staff were really lovely but the food, on balance, was over priced for what it was.
