L's Coffee and Books in Conwy

Stumbled upon this little gem of a cafe for breakfast, the staff, food & coffee were all lovely! Great little courtyard out the back and the doggy ice cream finished off a perfect breakfast stop!

My wife and I called in for coffee and cake this Sunday and were a little disappointed with the service .It seemed very disorganised and chaotic and not at all what we have experienced in the past.We wondered whether the cafe had changed hands?Hopefully things will improve.

We visited Conwy for the day with our four legged companion.A friendly lady greeted us and showed us to a table by the door (I think we were quite lucky as it was very busy and couldnt see another empty table)The same lady came back and gave us 4 dog biscuits which Chewie thoroughly enjoyed!We both had a latte and a breakfast bap. The food was unbelievably good and so filling. I didn't eat again until the evening.All the staff were very friendly, attentive and hard working, I'm appalled by some of the other reviews. We couldnt fault a thing,In these uncertain times we should be supporting independent businesses.We will visit Conwy again and will definitely be back here.

Delicious lunch and more importantly for my coffee addiction they served the best coffee. Really friendly, relaxed and efficient team. Highly recommended.

We popped in just after lunch and had Katsu curry. Large portion of some very yum curry. Good coffee. Food and drinks served in cardboard takeaway containers which seems sensible to avoid unnecessary contact. Very friendly staff.The one thing that we kept coming back to after we left was that the portions were a nice filling size. Where we live the tourists are ripped off in a big way with small expensive portions of sub standard food.. Not here, well worth a visit.

Enjoyable lunch and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. I prefer drinking out of a ceramic cup and not a paper cup and I understand in this present time take away boxes are used. I would stick to ceramic and just make sure the dishwasher is set to hot

We wanted coffee and this place looked good. We asked to sit in the courtyard but the server informed it was full. But there were seats 'just outside the courtyard ". We paid her for our drinks and were shown to the seats. Basically in a car park. After 25minutes wait we ventured into the now half empty courtyard in the hope of finding our coffee. Approached again I asked about our order. She had forgotten about it. We got our coffee, without any apologies about forgetting, in a cardboard cup, it was week, and meals are served in cardboard boxes. There were some really disappointed looking diners. Seriously...it's awful..Oh and the toilets are "not in use today guys..sorry"

During the times in which we live, we all need to unwind and forget just for a short while there is chaos outside. Visited this establishment for a snack and a brew ( sausage roll and salad). The meal was well presented and full of flavour. The manageress and her staff were truly fantastic. So polite and friendly. Both my partner and myself felt safe and welcomed. Lovely coffee and cake. Enjoyed my strawberry tart very much. Sat outside at the back. There was a small garden. Nice environment and friendly staff.

Staff could not have done enough for us. We had a pushchair and a member of staff helped us to carry it through the cafe and up the steps to the outside area.The same man enthusiastically told us about the menu. It felt like a lot of effort had gone into creating the dishes and the individual daily specials. Service was super quick and food was good. Will return if in Conwy.

A great little place. Warm, friendly welcome and very efficient Covid procedures. All staff were helpful and welcoming. The courtyard is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sun. The food comes quickly and is absolutely delicious. Thoroughly recommended.

Some places just have a good vibe and this is one of them. Great food, good sized portions and very reasonably priced, all this and lovely staff to top it off. Would recommend if you are in Conwy especially if you are looking for somewhere dog friendly . Took home a piece of coffee cake which was also delicious, will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

We were lucky to get a table here for lunch on a very rainy day. Good food, friendly and efficient staff.

We popped in here just before the lunchtime serving for coffee and cake. (The drinks and cake came in cardboard cups and boxes as a Covid-19 safety measure.)Make sure you’re seated before midday if all you want is coffee and/or cake as you have to order from the lunchtime meal menu after 12pm. The drinks were hot and the slices of cake were very generous and a great selection. There were no toilet facilities available, but this may have been a temporary measure due to Covid-19. This was not made obvious. We were directed to the public conveniences on the town quay.

Pit stop reviewBefore taking a trip around Conwy Castle, we wanted a quick bite and recharge. We noticed a steady flow of people in and out of this cafe which is always a good sign. We were greeted and managed to secure a seat at the front of the cafe (there are only 2 tables available inside) The rest of the seating is outside, at the back of the cafe. It did look sheltered outside but as it was a rainy day, customers were being warned that they would be open to the elements. COVID MEASURES The staff all had masksThere is track and trace system The menus are printed on paper The tables inside are 2 metres apart, outside looked about 1 metre.The foods/drinks are served in recyclable one use materials.FOOD AND SERVICEWe ordered soft drinks out of the fridge at the front counter. Our waiter also provided plastic glasses with ice. There was a lunch menu available of sandwiches, paninis etc. Their special that day was fish finger barm! Yum! We didn’t have this, as something else had already caught our eye. By the counter, they had a display fridge with lovely cakes and some epic-sized sausage rolls. We all couldn’t resist them and we were not disappointed. The rolls were warmed through and presented in boxes with plastic cutlery. The pastry on the rolls was fresh and flakey and the meat inside packed full of flavour. Unfortunately, there isn’t a toilet. They normally share one with another shop but due to COVID, it wasn't an option anymore. The staff were warm and friendly with everyone that came in for both sit-down lunch and takeaway, showing patience even when struggling under their masks. There are books around for sale and comfy looking benches that you could easily sit at all day drinking coffee while reading. Thank you

Popped in for a quick bite to eat and a coffee. Got seated fairly easily and that was where the service stopped. We waited far too long to be served and went elsewhere. Not the experience that we expected and it wasn't that busy so that was no excuse. Seemed a little disorganised to us

Sweet chilli Hollumi wraps tasted great, good value for money 👍 Great atmosphere inside and nice little outside area.

What can I say? The jewel in Conwy's crown is well and truly back! Sat in the fairy garden to eat our dinner! Staff a breathe of fresh air, food cooked to perfection, and so reasonable!

Visited Conway, just before everything closed down. Found this delightful Cafe in the High St, next to the Castle Hotel. Despite the lack of people in the town, the place was quite busy and we soon found out why. Served by young , friendly and helpful staff; great food, well presented and nice ambiance in the place. A selection of books on sale, and the place also welcomes well behaved dogs, and their owners, of course!!. Recommended

Just opposite Llandudno Junction Station and two, soon to be three supermarkets this coffee shop is very welcoming. Lovely staff who make you feel wanted and important. The food that came out looked good and well presented and a better maybe different selection to the usual coffee shop. We just had hot chocolates, mine was 'bog standard' but with none of that powdery taste you get some places, there was absolutely nothing bog or standard about it, it was delicious. My friend had the works - with cream and marshmallows far too sweet for me, but she really enjoyed it. The outside seating looked nice but it was pouring with rain during our visit.

Lovely and comfortable cafe and meeting place on High St,Conwy.Coffee was tasty and hot and the staff are lovely.There are a few books there for sale as well.Though we didnt have lunch,the one on the next table looked very appetising !!

Visited on a wet and windy Friday. Got a table (just in time as it gets very busy) and ordered with ease. To our disappointment, in came families and couples with large smelly wet dogs. As the tables were close together, out lovely food was overshadowed with the smell of DOG! Some owners even had them sat on their lap...!!!!!!!Sorry guys, we won’t be returning but I’m sure that others will. Staff and service were great and loved the fact you cater for vegans... thank you.

Went for breakfast. Dogs are welcome. Character building. Friendly, efficient staff. Great breakfast: I had Eggs Royale with lashings of smoked salmon. Tea from a nice, big teapot. Every chair and table was taken, there was a queue to get in, on a wet morning in February!

I had visited the little coffee shop on my own as I was visiting the town. Where as I am from a busy city which everyone always in a rush so it was lovely to see a friendly community as everyone knew each other. It was a lovely little coffee shop and I will be visiting again as my friends are excited to visit the shop. So I shall be visiting again in a few months time.

Nothing bad to say about the coffee shop. Lovely ambience, great food and drink (bagels with bacon, mmmmmm), and no rush to 'move you on'. All the staff are helpful and charming. Would so recommend.

We popped in here for a couple of toasted sandwiches and drinks. The service was quick, the prices reasonable and the food very good.

We enjoyed a cappuccino and slice of cake. Cosy atmosphere. It seemed to cater for vegans well as there was a board displaying a large choice of food. Nice to see people with dogs were welcome. Would recommend it and would return, thank you

Dropped in for a coffee and breakfast. Was recommended the breakfast bap and it was very good. Double expresso was so good I had second. I was with my brother who had a halloumi, poached egg, salmon breakfast which was also very good. Would recommend and will go back when next in Conwy.

This is a real treasure that has quality food & great coffee!

Just had lunch at this fabulous little cafe and we were blown away by the friendly welcome from staff, especially as we had a wet dog in tow, and the brilliant coffee and food. Had the falafel and halloumi wrap that was huge and super tasty. Busy but they deserve to be.

We always call in here when we are passing through Conwy, but this time we were somewhat disappointed by the large number of flies, especially for late October. It only takes the installation of an Insectocutor or similar to solve what we think is a nasty problem.

1st visit to this cute coffee shop. Ordered 2 toasties, cheese and onion and brie and chutney, 1 pot of tea and a latte coffee. Served really quickly, even tho it was busy. Delicious and very tasty. A cool place to relax, even has an outside area to eat. Must call again.

We use this place regularly with our dog and very happy to recommend. Always a good coffee, a small selection of quality herbal teas and their snacks are presented well at a competitive price. The staff are consistently friendly and eager to please. Downside is sometimes you can’t get a seat, and for toilet facilities you have to walk up the road. If you are in Conway, check it out!

Called in after being recommended by someone in the street. Welcoming staff who served us a delicious breakfast. Very popular with the locals and tourists alike.

So pleased we found this place. It’s exactly as many reviewers have claimed. We had an excellent sandwich lunch. The cakes on display were to die for but we didn’t indulge on this occasion. Must do next time.

We wanted a break from walking around Conwy and chose this little Gem that has much to recomend it including a rear outside area to allow you to keep your dog with you. I am still in awe of the fabulous carrott cake a master cake makers pride and joy.

If you happen to find yourself in Conwy you must pay a visit to this little gem. From the moment you walk in you are greeted warmly, biscuits given to the dog (if you have one). A lovely little courtyard out the back with tap for refilling water bowls. The food is spot on as are the cakes. The falafel is the best I've ever had. Looking for a snall snack the sausage rolls are scummy. The staff are amazing, go through the menu, they work hard to clear tables and get you seated. Be back again soon. Well done

Went in L's as we noticed they had space outside at the back in the sunshine and we were so glad we did. Terrific smooth hot coffee and homemade gluten free florentines to die for !!they had lots of homemade cakes, sausage rolls, quiche and pasties available on the counter as well as many items on the breakfast and lunch menu. The place was so busy but extremely spotless and the staff were all so friendly and welcoming they mad you feel like an old friend. I would reccomend this coffee shop 110%.Oh , and dog friendly too x

Exceptionally busy BH however despite this the owners Gaz & Lisa strived to accommodate all customers with their exceptional service. Food was excellent & well prepared as usual. The soup is my all time favourite. Made from scratch & very healthy (no added cream) which is great for the waistline ☺️ L's is no doubt the best place to go & you can acknowledge why they have won such a prestigious award. Just returned home from a couple of weeks staying in Conwy and visited this place on four occasions. It is by far the best cafe in the town.

Hunting for a coffee in Conwy and there are plenty of choices. Picked this one for the outside seating, very pleasant. Busy, coffee and barra brith at a special deal, enjoyed it. Pleasant staff, too.

We are currently on a two week holiday in Conwy and have visited this coffee shop a few times. We have a 16 week old baby so of course have a pram... each time we have visited all staff have been so accommodating to ensure we have enough room to sit with our two dogs and the pram.

Ich bin aufgrund der sehr guten Bewertungen hier in das Café gegangen, aber leider recht enttäuscht wieder gegangen. Das Lokal war sehr überfüllt und recht eng. Von Büchern kaum etwas zu sehen, und wenn, hätte ich über Menschen, Hunde und Tische klettern müssen, um an die Regale ranzukommen. Das Service war zwar freundlich, aber auch etwas überfordert (haben während des kurzen Gesprächs 2x vergessen, was ich gerade bestellt habe....). Auch das Essen und die Getränke habe ich als recht durchschnittlich wahrgenommen. Leider keine Empfehlung, da gibts definitiv nettere Plätzchen im schönen Conwy.

The coffee is always good at L's but was so pleased today to discover L's additional vegan menu with fill your own bagels, burger, fries , salads etc as well as flapjacks, milkshakes

Called in for an afternoon lunch with friends, it was set in a quirky atmosphere with great Welsh food choice and beverages to suit all. What we ordered was delicious, with friendly and vibrant staff to add to this. We would return here if visiting that part of North Wales. Excellent choice for all, recommended a visit to all.

Walked into Conwy today (Sunday) with my 87 year old Grandmother and two dogs intended to treat her to breakfast. But to our disappointment the coffee shop was closed. The owners arrived but said they weren't opening until 10am. The website clearly says it opens at 9am. This is a shame as I've read and heard good things. There wasn't any obvious alternative option open that allows dogs so we had to walk back home.

This was a lovely find. Definitely recommend it. And will definitely pay another visit when next back in Conwy. Food is delicious and they have a cute little yard out back which is a glorious sun trap. Milkshakes are delicious too. And the staff were really friendly and helpful

Great little cafe - friendly, service with a smile and very helpful if you are strictly coeliac. We also came away with a doggie bag as our son couldn't manage all of his lunch. Well recommended 😊👍🏻

Enjoyed a very nice cup of coffee in the 'garden' at the rear. Highly recommended. I resisted the temptation of indulging in a delicious cake..simply because lunch would have been ruined.

Nipped in this morning with our dogs. Seated and served by very plesant staff. Dog treats were a nice touch. Coffee was very nice as was my full brecky and Mrs Bs eggs on toast. Shame it was raining i would like to have meal in the courtyard.

Wide selection from a well presented menu plus specials at fair prices. Does everything from breakfast to afternoon tea/coffee. We initially had sandwiches & drinks for early lunch & then returned later for afternoon tea & delicious cakes. Has a really good atmosphere along with excellent service provided by very friendly staff. They make a point of making your custom feel valued. The cafe was busy both times we were there, a mixture of tourists & locals, the latter always a good indicator of quality. One of best cafes we have been in recently.

Just fancied a tea / coffee at the end of a lovely day. It is slightly unusual, but nevertheless serves top notch consumerables. Inside we saw an offer of basic tea / coffee + Bara Brith at a good price.

Really nice quite quirky cafe, friendly staff, dog friendly throughout, nice outdoor yard at rear. One of the nicest sandwiches I've had anywhere and a brilliant value Blanchbait dish.

Really relaxed place, lovely atmosphere, dog-friendly. Lots of nice sandwiches and a daily specials menu on the wall. Lovely coffee, friendly staff, right in the middle of Conwy. It gets busy but many of the tables are big enough to share with plenty of room. Definitely give it a go.

What a little gem! This lovely place was recommended to me by the sightseeing boat tours - I’m glad it was! Lovely cosy vibe, gorgeous food and really friendly staff. I had a fruity flapjack and ‘spring’ green tea and then came back a few hours later for scampi and chips... The chips were immense by the way. See you again soon I hope! Rosie

We stayed a couple of doors down from L’s for a week in Conwy. Every time we passed it was busy, whatever time of the day. A very popular place. We visited one morning for breakfast and not only was it good food and service, the relaxed atmosphere and friendly mix of locals & tourists was great. We will definitely return. Wish it was on our doorstep at home.

A great selection of Gluten free food & cakes. Nearly everything on the menu could be done GF. And Tess the pooch was welcome too. Even got given some dog biscuits for her. It is a little bit tight and we did have to walk past it to return later when there was a table but it’s obviously so good it is a busy place!

This cafe sits right in the middle of the High Street & offers a good selection of midday meal (sandwiches, salads etc). We had sandwiches and drinks. The cafe exudes a cozy ambience and friendly atmosphere along with quick, congenial service provided by the staff. It is the kind of cafe where you could stay longer if you didn't want to see the rest of the town. The cafe was crowded the entire time we were there, so plenty of people wanted to eat here.

The only problem, as best as I can tell, is that the tables are too close together and difficult to access if you are disabled. A dog-friendly cafe (which was useful, as my HUGE sausage roll was too much for me, so a lovely couple from Dartford gave the remaining sausagemeat to their dog!) My husband had a nice slice of cake and we had a good strong welsh cuppa, to.

Popped in today with my mam for a lunch date - She's an L's regular, but I'd never been before! WHAT A WONDERFUL place to eat! I had the bacon and brie wrap, the most tasty salad, dressed beautifully, and nachos! I also had a Fanta - in a glass bottle!!!! It's the little things! The staff were simply a breathe of fresh air! Funny, welcoming, warm, polite, and more! Dog friendly too - Gelert was treated to an icy bowl of water, and some yummy biscuits! Well done Ryan, Sam, and the staff! I'll 100% be back!

Strolling pleasantly around Conwy we came across this beauty ! A lovely little coffee shop with an outside area witch was a bonus as it was a glorious ☀️ day ! Efficient service with a smile, lovely place for a tea/coffee.

L’s is a lovely place ... whether you are there for breakfast/coffee or lunch you are guaranteed a lovely welcome from all the staff .. Gaz & Lisa who run it are lovely & always accommodating with my quirky requests!! Friday quiz is a highlight ... food is always spot on .. in my opinion it is the best cafe in Conwy

Had lunch at Ls, really good quality food and service. The place had a good atmosphere and comfortable seating. We will definitely go again.

My second cup of coffee had arrived when my phone rang and I went outside to take the call. When I returned my cup had disappeared. The pleasant waitress knew nothing about it when I explained that I hadn’t finished my coffee. However a rude gentleman in shorts and inked like a tapestry kit brusquely informed me that I was lying and that the cup was empty. I refused his grudging offer of a replacement and left. Such attitudes have no place in the service industry and owners like him deserve to be shunned.

Very friendly service and a lovely atmosphere with a quirky feel. We sat outside in the sunshine and it was glorious. Bacon, egg, guacamole and halloumi cheese in a large bap, with a coffe / tea and a green smoothie each. The food was great. The smoothie was amazing! I nearly ordered another lot of the same! Call in and try them, they’re definitely worth it. And at a reasonable price too.

Lovely staff and food. Has delicious chicken wrap and fish finger sandwich. The steak special was tough and grizzly so could not give this full marks unfortunately

We visited after hearing it is dog friendly... and it is and fine in that respect. The food is over priced though, it was £6.95 for a sausage and egg cob which was just ok!!! Also they dont have their own toilets.. the ladies is 2 doors down in the Castle Hotel and up some stairs, not impressed.

A delightful place where we dropped in for a light lunch. Had a fabulous few dishes of food for an incredible price. Plus being dog friendly gave us furry friends to meet 👍🏻

We stopped here on a visit to Conwy, as I'd read it was dog friendly. It really was.

High quality food served in a welcoming and warm environment. The staff were polite and helpful. The outside seating area was enjoyable and well maintained.

We nipped in here for a quick bite around lunchtime. There was an offer on for tea or coffee with Barra Brith. The last time I had heard Barra Brith mentioned was by my late dad who always liked it with a pot of tea in the afternoon.That was more than 40 years ago, so I just had to try it. It was very enjoyable and the tea that was served with it was particularly nice for a cafe/ restaurant. My wife had the cream scone with with latte which she said was very nice, The food menu was very unusual in that many dishes were not the sort you see on most cafe menus. Eggs Benedict for instance. There is also a good selection fruit smoothies prepared to order. It is hard to do this cafe justice except by saying that if you are visiting Conwy, it is very well worth a visit more than once in order to try a number of the delicious items on the menu. Whilst we didn't actually try many ourselves, we could see others enjoying the very tempting food on offer.

Dog friendly and very human friendly too!! Great selection of teas and coffees along with a well stock fridge of soft drinks. Great menu for breakfast and lunch. Superb selection of cakes. What's not to like about this super place. Very friendly and helpful staff who make a fuss of you and your dog.

We always try to come here when in Conwy, but it’s so popular you sometimes can’t get a table.

Popped in for a drink and a bite to eat with my wife and a friend. We specifically chose this place because they take dogs and had excellent reviews... And they didn't disappoint. The staff were so nice (they gave our dog a free treat as soon as we arrived) and the food and drink was delicious. We were even able to buy a dog-friendly frozen yoghurt which our dog devoured! We would highly recommend this place :-)

We were looking for a vegan friendly lunch spot in Conwy and after spotting in the window they offered soya milk thought it would be a good option. The warm welcome and accommodating service was outstanding. After asking if they could provide a vegan lunch the waitress was so lovely, explaining the soup was vegan and offering to make up any conceivable option I liked from the menu. She even came back to the table to let us know they had some vegan sausages in. I ended up with apple & parsnip soup with a vegan sausage bagel on the side and vegan siracha mayo. Delicious!

We visited Conwy on the way home from a couple of days in Caernarfon, and after a walk round the town we stumbled on this little place. The place was very busy, and after sampling the coffee and cake I can see why! We really enjoyed our coffee and I had a piece of white chocolate and raspberry frangipane, which was really delicious. With friendly staff, the place had a lovely relaxed atmosphere, which we enjoyed. If we visit Conwy again, we will go back.

Have'nt been into conwy since before christmas but always try and go to L's when we do visit conwy. They do the best flat white around, and its nice to be able to order a hot chocolate made with soya milk for my daughter without getting raised eyebrows! The staff are always so so friendly , and always make a fuss of us .Highly reccomend!!

So popped in here whilst having a walk around conwy. Had a brew-tiful americano with a slice of bara brith. And my friend had a dairy free pup of tea with some poached eggs on gluten free toast. This place was egg-cellent.
