We call in here regularly after a days walking in the mountains. It's a cosy bar with a log fire crackling in the corner and friendly welcoming staff.

Great place for a relaxing night. Attentive staff and great food. What's not to like.

Great food everytime we go. Staff are brilliant, very attentive and great with kids. Definitely worth checking out if visiting Newcastle or Castlewellan! Recommend the baby back ribs, beautiful!

Delicious food. Lovely setting. Great location for a hiking day. Not cheap but then the decor and food weren’t either. Everything we ate was in big portions and tasted fantastic. And they catered amazingly for our small children too. Beautiful Christmas decorations.

Food was exceptional and the pub was very cosy and decorated lovely for Christmas. Superb pint of Guinness also and recommendations from the staff.

Came here with friends for dinner. The staffs were very nice and the place is so cosy and well decorated for halloween. Food is good and generous portions. Highly recommend.

Always very attentive with great food.

My partner and I came for dinner here and we were super excited because we’d heard so many amazing reports about this establishment. We were bitterly disappointed, the fish and chips was mediocre but the rib stack was atrocious, they were swimming in bbq sauce to the point that the sauce was falling all over the sides of the plate, I think to hide the fact that there was barely any meat on the ribs. The onion rings were so hard I could have smashed the mirror with them. The service was poor because the staff were more interested in chatting to each other than serving tables(we’d waited more than a sufficient amount of time to be asked what dessert we’d like) overall it’s just a shame because we heard such amazing reports previously. I won’t be back.

Maghera Inn is a lovely country pub. Food is always excellent. I have never had a bad meal here. Staff always friendly and try their best to accommodate at busy times to get you a table. Unfortunately not always possible, but they do try. I definitely recommend a visit.

Great food apparently they have been doing good business throughout the summer. We were really impressed.

Eclectic decorated and homely little inn and staff were exceptionally welcoming and relaxed atmosphere creating. The family and I visited for early father's day family meal and the food was incredible. Highly recommend the Katsu Curry so sumptuous and creamy. The Cod and chip also must get a we shout-out as it was rated by a knows what they like fisherman. Update - On a recent birthday dinner visit this little gem has continued to live up to the fond memories of the previous experience and have to add a big thumbs up to the fillet steak.

Came here with 3 other people and we all had a great time, everyone loved their meals. I got the seafood chowder and the tender stem pappardelle pasta and sticky toffee pudding. The seafood chowder was very very nice BUT didn’t top my all time favorite. The pasta was gorgeous, nice and creamy but not too heavy and the goats cheese was lovely with it. I do think they could do with more vegetarian starters or a veggie burger option. Definitely recommend and would come here again!

Lovely meal very pleasant staff . Turkey and ham dinner was great and plenty of it . Good selection something for pretty much everyone even my picky don't really like vegtables vegetarian niece managed 3 courses

Just dined here at the Maghera inn for a Birthday celebration. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious! I went for the "Chicken stack", would highly recommend!

The fish chowder was just soooo sooo good. The foods a bit pricey but the taste, presentation and quality of the foods is just so good.

Lovely wee pub 🍻😍 Had the Roast of the day and the beef was melt in the mouth + lovely gravy + mash! Fish and chips also good, although I'd personally recommend the roast if you're unsure! They serve Guinness 0.0% which is great if you're driving but still want the Irish pub experience 🍀😉🚗 Really sweet decor in and out, proper Irish pub.

Fantastic dinner here on Friday night! Food was amazing, and many thanks to the wonderful staff for their help with my elderly grandparents! Will definitely be back!

Great service , dairy and gluten free options, server knew exactly what was suitable for me with intolerances and I was extremely happy with that service as most places aren't to sure , would happily return ( if we can get booked in , it's a very popular spot) always book before hand for a table if possible

If you want value for money don't go If you want friendly staff don't go there if you want a relaxed meal, without staff coming up to you and hurrying you don't go there Sad really it has to be good place

We were booked for 8 p.m. but tablecwasbt ready. Quickly offered seats in bar area and our orders taken from there. Seated by 8.20 and meal served immediately. Meals were delicious and my Thai Green Curry was excellent. Atmosphere busy and friendly.

Excellent food, lovely staff and quick service. Food portions, particularly are generous and well priced. Great kids meniu. If you are coming here, book in advance to avoid disappointment, as it is always busy.

Great food. Highly recommend the ribs but everything we had was great and a good sized portion. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were in on a Sunday evening and there was a good atmosphere. Reasonably priced too. Will definitely go back. If you're in the area, like good food, and you're hungry I'd definitely consider it. Best to book though as it seems to be very popular.

First time was good but service was slow. Second time service was slow and food was terrible. My dish was sizzling chicken that could not be eaten. I ate some because l was really hungry. But wouldn't bother again.

Gorgeous pub, food was amazing. 7 of us sat in & were really well taken care of - everyone loved their meals. I had the chowder which was fantastic. Lovely atmosphere & staff were great too. Highly recommend!

What a lovely pub, plus it had food on a Tuesday and the food was excellent. I had mushroom risotto, with pea shoots and spinach - truly delicious, I’m sure the small portion was to encourage me to have a pudding. My husband had Korean beef, with vegetables and rice - he loved it. We shared a sticky toffee pudding and salted caramel brownie both with ice cream - the brownie was my favourite. We will be back!

10/10 for food and for friendliness of staff. I would highly recommend the Mahgera Inn for a meal. It does not disappoint... brilliant menu 😋

Amazing meal, took my daughter for her 21st birthday yesterday. All the staff were fantastic, the portions were excellent and our meal was served promptly. I will be back for my birthday.

1st visit to the restaurant & very impressed by both the food & the service. Humongous portions , I didn't realise chickens came in that size, excellent rack of ribs, cocktails are a little expensive, live music a bonus, wasn't expecting to hear my lovely horse played live , will definitely be back to try the fish dishes 5*+

Lovely fish and chips ! Both cooked the way they should be. Good service and a great pint of Heverlee. Off the beaten track but well worth the visit.

If you want somewhere rustic and cosy to eat then this is the place for you. Food was tremendous, no one in our party was disappointed. Staff were friendly and certainly deserve a healthy tip if you visit.

Found this place today just driving past. Went in food was amazing. Staff very friendly and helpful with special dietary requirements. Was busy but not to busy that we wer rushed 🥰🥰. Definitely be back next time we are in this area

First class food and service. Daily 'specials' as well as standard menu choice eg burgers, fish, chicken, lasagne etc. Cosy and comfortable seating with conservatory option. Good value for money. Well worth stopping. Probably advisable to pre book.

With a large party coming in for an adult birthday, the service was quick and helpful but food was a little high for the price and definitely missing something from the ambiance that makes me take a star off. I would recommend to anyone that wants decent food and friendly staff.

Decent grub, decent Guinness. Bar is cute, but if you want a drink before food, arrive early, they are pushy (I mean really pushy) to get you in and out of the table. 4 mentions in 5 minutes about going to table and the bill came within 10 seconds of asking for it, almost as if the ratio of their convenience vs your enjoyment is weighted about 95:5 in wrong direction. Go for drinks only, or food only, not a relaxing place to mix them.

One of my absolute favourite places to eat. The atmosphere is cosy/homely, the food is fabulous and the staff are a friendly bunch. The portions are huge, they could be smaller and still be more than enough. I have yet to try something that I don't enjoy (the seafood chowder is something else - yum.
