McHalls Bistro in Blackpool

Man at the desk was incredibly rude. Food was freezing Room not cleaned after previous person. same bedsheets still On bed not made. Bed was verry uncomfortable,Room stunk and had damp all on the walls Looks absolutely nothing like the pictures freezing cold water the hot water didn't work the shower was broken ,the light in bedroom didn't even turn on. wouldn't recommend

The room i was put in has damp and still not moved me after 2 week now they moving me into a room that is worse condition and being bit by fleas

3 stars are for a tidy but very small room with en-suite. Everywhere in Blackpool has gone up tremendously in price since the "staycation" fashion has come into play.We were unfortunately too close to a very noisy Pub/Club,which didn't empty till early hours of the morning.It would appear that,at weekend's the people from this place hold very loud conversations outside the Hotel we were in,this was followed later on Sunday morning at 8am,by an alarm going off twice within 5 minutes. When I couldn't find anyone to find out what was happening,I phoned the Manager,only to be told "it's okay"! No explanation or apology given.We were also greeted early on the Monday morning with the noise from the Construction site next to us.I was glad to come home for a rest!

Good value and clean. Close to north pier area. Convenient for beach and promenade. Parking not guaranteed but there is a 24 or 48 hour car park very close by on Queen Street where it is safe to leave car overnight. To access this street by car you have to go round as it’s one way but it’s a two minutes walk from this guest house.

Horrible smell in the room! Loud outside, the door didn't feel secure, the water wasn't on, the bed was uncomfy! As we were walking in a couple told us not to check in and leave, says it all really

The gentleman who invited us in and showed us to our room was nice and friendly but that's where the pros end, the beds was extremely uncomfortable needs new mattress ASAP. There was one curtain hung up badly and the noise at 3am was ridiculous. Also had to share shower/toilet with other people. Would not stay again

Good stuff : Manager of Hotel was absolutely lovely, kind helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean entrances clean Limited parking Good size rooms Fellow residents considerate and quiet Bad stuff Really really noisy neighbours for every night of our stay. If you want sleep.. Don't get a room at the front. Police chases and fights regularly occurring No fans or aircon and hard to leave windows open due to above TV, kettle, radio all not working Beds hard and uncomfortable with heavyweight quilts in July!! Unsavoury framed pics in room. Massive cracks in walls and peeling paper on ceilings If you move your car.. You lose your space Shared bathroom stunk the entire time, no clean paper towels Broken lock on shared bathroom door Unsavoury bad taste posters in bathroom.. Not suitable for a family hotel No hand sanitiser in entrances Looks like it was a lovely place to stay several years ago, now in desperate need of an overhaul.

Very clean friendly owner basic but had a great stay good location 2 min walk to front and all the attractions lots of bars and cafes near by.

It Was a nice place. Very Comfy Bed And Pillows. Bed Nice And Clean. Decent T.V and channels very good WIFI and nice wee owner. Few Issues I Had was The Shower. The Temperature is just not there. Hot And Cold when it wants and cut of. Also The Door is held by a latch and The Outside Hall light gets in The Room. That Is Minor Complaints but overall I Did Like It. I Never Had The Food.

Please don't waste your money on this place...the rooms are dirty shower doesn't work right...list goes on

The manager on duty was really nice and helpful. Hotel is as about as nice as they come in blackpool. Was a bit of a walk to the pleasure Beach for my young kids but that's down to my planning. Would book again.

You get what you pay for here room was not cleaned before went in found stuff still left in the room from last person really small and dark

If I could rate this place ZERO STARS I would. The pictures on Booking.com do not represent the room. A complete sham run by a bunch of liars!!! Please do not book here if you have hygiene standards!!!!! I lost £65 for a room that was rated 4 star on Booking.com.com and was more like ZERO STARS!!!!

On Arrival we were met at the door asked our name showed us our room said to fone if needed The Photos on they Website are not a true reflection as for being updated it's not so The room had a nasty odour Mattress add pillows need replacing no lock on bathroom We decided we couldn't stay so booked another hotel I sincerely do not recommend

I cant even rate my stay because I could not go due to covid 19 restrictions.. I had booked 2 rooms and had to cancel . Tried a few times to contact the property but nothing ! Contacted booking.com and they managed to contact the property and ask for a refund witch they said no and also would no let me change my dates to another time.. left me £277 down .

Apart from the fact that this place is relatively clean, the rest is horrible, had to wait 10 mins to get inside git grunted at by the owner, the room is tiny and dull, We spent the whole day out returned late and went to bed, the bedding was awful the Quilt so heavy and old with stripped it and just used the sheet Next morning went down breakfast and the room was locked so again had to wait for lady to appear, when she did she just opened the door and walked in not even a "morning" she then laid a table and left the room, the whole place is unwelcoming and you are definately NOT made to feel welcome at all I never want to see the place again and I'd never recommend it to anybody

As a local we have frequently been for Sunday Roast and enjoyed the home cooked food. The place has now changed hands and the food is dreadful. Nothing fresh such as spicy wedges instead of roast potatoes, deep fried chicken, lack lustre veg, not exactly the treat we had planned. Should've listened to my gut and left before ordering. Chalk it up to a lesson learned - shan't be back.

Mc Halls was very clean and comfortable close to the town centre and had a very extensive menu the staff were pleasant and friendly and also attentive. I would certainly recommend this hotel to all my friends and family

The reviews led me to this place and i have to say i was taken up a garden path and given false pretences.... the food was utterly repugnant. As i type this i’m clutching my stomach with residual retches at the thought of the slop that was served up; my hands are clasped across my mouth preventing my vomit from spraying my 42inch flat screen as i type. The red wine was FROZEN. The starters; garlic sautéed mushrooms served on a ciabatta... Honey it was a tin of Heinz Cream of Mushroom Soup with a slice of white warburtons to dip.... another starter; Bruschetta mixed beans... it was a tin of Aldi baked beans on a thick white slab of Hovis. I mean i know and appreciate we are in 2020 but there is polishing and there is POLISHING and the turdelds you are serving are beginning to smear; this really shouldn’t be at number two, nor 22, nor 42,52,92 or even 202 of places to eat in Blackpool. Turn the deep fat fryer off. Put the vitalite away. Start buying fresh foods and the queens that you want to cater for will surely return.... but as it stands, i feel like flipping all the tables, flicking the bird and running out with all the frying pans.

Three of us went for dinner here because it was rated number 2 restaurant in Blackpool. Goodness knows how that came about!! The lady said food takes a while because it is all freshly cooked or as i discovered at my cost it IS NOT REALLY COOKED AT ALL!!!! If you value your health DO NOT go here!!!

Just had sunday lunch not worth the money

We visited McHalls yesterday 24th Sept, we had a lovely dinner,very enjoyable, the Rioja was gorgeous too. We will definitely recommend this Bistro and return very soon.

The hotel is new owners now so don't go with the reviews you are reading before August the woman at the desk and same woman at breakfast is so rude and the breakfast is the worse you will ever get and the room no TV not working no channels no nothing the water is very cold or boiling so couldn't have shower and not just me saying this my family in the other two rooms are saying the same so stay away cheers Charles

Went around 4 weeks ago never Agen was a disgusting place food awfull room shabby left a night early don't waist your money cheap but not cheerful it's under new management but hasn't said anywhere it is bistro food I'd rather not eat it's that bad .

We visited the bistro and it is absolutely nothing like what is advertised on their website. We were told when we booked it had changed hands but weren't expecting it to be quite so different. We had burger and chips and gammon and chips. Both hot and ok but certainly not worth the £12.50 price tag. The waitress had no clue about drinks asking what we normally paid for a large house white wine, and then proceeded to poor over half a bottle of wine into a glass!! We were the only ones in and waited an hour for the meal. I appreciate owners are new and finding their feet but based on this experience it will be slipping down the ratings very rapidly. Won't be returning due to poor value for money ( except the wine !!) and although the owner seemed pleasant and friendly the service was poor.

I booked McHalls last minute at 6pm Monday 3rd for three nights. It was a last minute booking and was en route from East Surrey to Blackpool for the first time. I already set my preference as 1x Adult and 1x child of 13. Booking.com app allowed me to continue then automatically changed it to 2x adult as a default. I thought maybe McHalls treats 13 as an adult? Many places charge for adult rates for children over 12. Didn’t think much went ahead and paid. When I went to get directions my map advises me it was an adult only. Horrified me stopped at Cobham services on M25 to explain my error but staff told me they can’t do anything but since I’m sincere they speak to owners next morning. I was helpless asking what am I supposed to do? I need to stay with my daughter in a new city. Staff said they’d confirm in the morning. I cancelled the booking through Booking.com app but reminded this is non refundable. I hoped hotel owners will reconsider my circumstances and come to sone agreement. I decided to book one nights accommodation at Danescourt who even waited for us knowing we’d be an hour late due to distance and having child with me. I get no call from staff of McHalls despite promise then I chase. Reply is unfortunately owners won’t refund at all despite paying for three nights. Told they held the room for me? How? Knowing they can’t accommodate us and room cancelled the room could have been sold! I’m absolutely disgusted by inhuman and unfair attitude of owners. People make mistakes and I made many efforts admitting my error. It seems they’re just interested in taking money even if you don’t check in. Whole experience was ruined as I didn’t have enough money for us do anything in Blackpool. I work in hospitality sectors and never had such poor customer service. Never recommend this place to anyone due the way matter was handled. You won’t become rich with my hard earned money that you got free but karma will bite you one day.

I thought I had said everything positive about McHall's that I ever could........until lockdown.The only thing that could top eating in the bistro was being able to have access to their lovely food and now we can.Friday, Saturday and Sunday they do a takeaway option and it's fab [no change there, then!]But don't take my word for it...........try it, I can be confident you won't like it, you'll love it.Keep it up Danny and Gav, can't wait to visit again.

Take away Sunday lunch ! Well all the pluses of a mchall’s Sunday lunch but in my own home! With the current lockdown situation, Sunday’s wouldn’t be the same without Gavin’s sunday lunch. Social distancing, I collected our lunch time treats plus wine today. Got it home and tucked in. Absolutely fabulous as always, just without the hugs. Thanks Danny and Gavin. Thankfully, these two charming restaurateurs are kindly offering a welcome beacon of light during these dark times. They're providing a takeaway service Friday and Saturday evenings for collection or delivery. We had a beautiful anniversary meal at home courtesy of Daniel & Gavin and will definately be ordering again. If you've got a special celebration coming up or just want to treat yourselves, give ita try. You won't be disappointed. Their meals are sublime.

We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while due to several recommendations and excellent reviews.Due to the current situation we were delighted that we had the opportunity to try their culinary delights via a takeaway service which was delivered bang on time The food was outstanding, we were looking forward to it all day and it definitely did not disappoint. We went for 3 courses each which consisted of fresh crab cakes, chicken liver pate followed by Duck leg with puy lentils broth and veg and Braised lamb Henry with bubble and squeak and veg. All finished off with Sticky toffee pudding in hot toffee sauce and hot chocolate brownie all came with choice of cream or custard.All in all a solid 100/10 can't wait to try again. Massive well done, loved It

Tonight we celebrated our son Phil's birthday (belated but 1st opportunity). No big family affair (sadly .). We normally celebrate with a lovely meal, all the family, drinks and chit chat around the table in a lovely restaurant. Wine flowing. Tonight just a table for 3 (individual). In our front room. Joined by Ant and Dec. That was fun. Love them. Missed our family so much. We will celebrate big style when this is all over!I didn't cook. Took the night off. A take away was in order. Not just any old take away. No. ***Mchalls*** no. 1 on TripAdvisor for Blackpool. And rightly so.It was simply sublime. Take aways available every Friday and Saturday. You will NOT be disappointed. I even had BREAD (diet controlled diabetic, low carber). Melba toast. Very thin and crispy. Great with the homemade pate and chutney with a kick. And my blood sugars were actually very happy. Hardly any movement.Thank you for helping create a very special evening in all this madness, Gavin and Daniel you are simply the best.

Lovely intimate bistro restaurant. Very warm informal welcome which continued throughout the meal.FOOD. All fresh, home cooked, and very varied menu. I'm vegi, unusually very happy I had choices!! Others had meat, fish all fab.It was my bday which although they hadn't been prewarned they handled with fun and pernach. So much so we went back the following Sunday for lunch which was equally good.Indeed I have family going this Sunday! Need I say more!!Well done boys.

Having visited Blackpool once a year for several years running we were fortunate enough to eventually book a table by reserving several weeks ahead.It is easy to see why this venue is so popular, the service and food is first class yet prices are moderate.The only unfortunate thing was that due to the Coronavirus a number of dinners had cancelled including 50% from our party.This was a Saturday night and left the bistro with little atmosphere.Despite this we totally enjoyed the evening and were not rushed despite remaining the only dinners.We will certainly be keeping our fingers crossed that the current crisis will not affect this business long term and we look forward to revisiting this time next year with the normal packed house.

Great night out keeping my husband, me and the mother-in-law very happy. Tasty beautiful food covering a wide range of tastes. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived and nothing was too much trouble. We will be back. Sunday lunch sounds excellent.

We eat at McHalls a lot - always fantastic food, great service and a lovely, relaxed space. Last week they hosted my Mum's 90th birthday party - all done with such care and panache, with the food as good as always. Everyone who came commented on the friendly service -and quality of the food and will come back when they are in town. Gavin also does one of the best Sunday lunches in town.

Went here for Sunday lunch today with the family for the first time. It was amazing! Food amazing, so tasty. Prices great. All staff so friendly, polite, welcoming, and great hosts. Daniel was a fabulous host and Gavin cooked great food. We will be back again.

This is the most wonderful place for evening meal or Sunday dinner, we visit all the time and Ive taken my friends / family and work colleges who equally love it. Danny makes you feel so welcome and Gavin's cooking is always to a very very high standard. We cant recommend this place enough. A

A friend told us to try this place for dinner and we could not have been happier. Best meal we have had in ages. We have come up for just one night and with so many places to choose from, we were so glad of our friends recommendation. Absolutely nothing to fault and we would most certainly come back. We had tried to get a table before but failed, we can see why. This restaurant with Daniel looking after you is fantastic, food was imaginative and excellent. Would love to stay there, it was immaculate. We went on Saturday 11 January, a great way to blow away the New Year blues!

Booked here after trying two years ago, last time we were in the area, not realising you need to book. After a fantastic meal, I can see why you have to book. Great food cooked to perfection, unique setting and great service. If only I didn’t live so far away.

we visited the bistro for my sister's 60th birthday celebration. Danny was very warm and welcoming without being over intrusive.Gavin had made my sister a special cupcake with a candle that was lit between each course and everyone joined in singing Happy Birthday. My sister felt very special. The food Gavin cooked was fabulous and everything was very reasonably priced. A little gem that we will be returning to soon. Thank you both very much Danny & Gavin

Had the pleasure of visiting this bijou bistro for Sunday lunch ; it having been recommended by a friend. I can honestly say it was the best Sunday lunch I have ever had at a restaurant, hotel or pub. Light and crispy Yorkshire puddings , perfectly cooked beef and an array of exquisite veg. Indeed dare I say it was probably better thAn my wife’s or mother’s, and both are excellent cooks. Pleasant quirky and fun room which matches the delightful Daniel, the host with the most. We shall be regulars from now on

Decided to go to see my favourite men at mchall’s this Sunday for lunch. I’ve been here a lot over the last 5 years and it never fails. Wonderful greeting from Daniel. Table reserved for 1. Me! Excellent service, not rushed or too slow. Homemade mushroom soup and gluten free bread roll (which was warm) roast beef dinner with what must have been 6 different veg, mash and roast potatoes. Delicious boat of gravy. For desert (yes I squeezed 1 in) homemade banana and salted caramel ice cream. All superb. Lovely atmosphere and super clean as always. Always a pleasure.

I stayed here once before and loved it so much a 2nd visit was always the plan. So me and a friend booked for NYE 2 nights cery reasonably priced too. On arrival Daniel greeted us with a welcoming smile, very easy to book in, room was very comfortable everything you need is in there and very quiet. Friend stayed 2nd floor overlooking the front which he said was also quiet. Location couldn't be better tbh, less than 5 min walk from North train station, mchalls is behind funny girls, flying handbag.

We always book in for meals here when we are in Blackpool Daniel is the perfect host and Gavin is a fantastic chef we are always greeted as friends and Daniel always remembers what we like to drink and eat! This time Roger a pie lover had Rudolf pie which he said was delicious as was the Christmas pudding and brandy sauce! We will be returning the next time we are in Blackpool!

Lovely interesting decor, elegantly decorated, very clean, with excellent wide range of breakfast including gluten free. Lovely hosts. I real gem.

Absolutely excellent place for Sunday lunch. Danny was the friendliest, most welcoming and accommodating host. I have a young child (15 months) and he did everything he could to make sure Noel was entertained and catered for (including providing a towel for a somewhat unexpected ‘dirty’ accident!) - Sorry! But he was amazingly kind and nothing was too much trouble. The food was gorgeous and really good value for money. Lovely atmosphere, a really pleasant Sunday afternoon. Thankyou :)

Lovely family weekend in Blackpool. Reserved a table at McHalls for Auntie Peg's 99th birthday celebrations. What an excellent choice, Daniel looked after us and the food was amazing. A family of eleven including two children. I asked everyone the following day for their opinion and everybody said it was excellent. The attention to detail was very impressive. Four of us were celebrating a birthday within a period of two weeks and Daniel and Gavin (the chef) prepared four individual birthday cakes a really nice touch. We ordered such a variety of dishes such as crab cakes, lamb henry, Argentinian fish stew etc. Everything was delicious 10/10. Thank you Daniel thank you Gavin.

After a disappointing 1st nights meal at our hotel we headed to McHalls the next evening. We arrived with our 2 girls to be warmly Greeted by Daniel. He really took the time to engage with the kids and he was brilliant with them. He made sure they were supplied with games and paper and pens to keep them occupied. The girls loved him. Daniel also arranged for the kids to be cooked somthing they preferred that wasnt on the menu which was a big help. Our food was really delicious and everything is fresh and home cooked, The chef does an amazing job.

Excellent evening - wonderful food - Daniel was the perfect host. We were a party of 9 and everyone enjoyed every course. Would definitely recommend and we will be visiting again for sure.

A weekend in Blackpool had to include a friday meal and Sunday lunch at the wonderfull Mc Halls Bistro . Danny front of house was very attentive and explained all the dishes to be had in a wonderfull extensive menu including vegitarian options, all expertly cooked by Chef Gavin.

Whenever we visit Blackpool we always visit here the food is always excellent Daniel is the perfect host and we are greeted like friends visiting here always makes our holiday perfect thank you Daniel and Gavin for your hospitality we will be back on Sunday!

We were lucky enough to dine here last Friday evening and were not disappointed. The food was absolutely amazing and homemade, three cheese pate and steak and Stilton burger was gorgeous. The squid special starter and fish stew was equally as good. The ambiance was very cosy and authentic and the customer service from Daniel was spot on and very friendly and genuine. Would definitely recommend!

Firstly, by far the best Sunday lunch we have EVER eaten out. From the minute we walked through the door we was pleasantly greeted by Daniel we was with our little girl and he made a fuss of her gave her some colouring etc she was in her element. The decor is just so lovely makes you feel really cosy and at home. Food was just lovely everything fresh and majority home made. I had the chicken liver pate for starters with a onion and chilli chutney bloody delicious. All 3 roasts were divine piping hot couldn’t ask for better. We will definitely be back when we are back in Blackpool. What a gem of a place and a credit to the whole of Blackpool x

Close to north train station. Daniel was superb. Very good value for the quality. Super breakfast. Book in for the Sunday dinner early as its renowned as the best Sunday dinner in Blackpool.

The food, service, hosting and atmosphere never fail to impress. All aspects delivered by Danny and Gavin to very high standards and at very reasonable prices....

Once again we had a brilliant experience at this little gem of a restaurant. It started with the friendly welcome from Danny and led to the superb meal cooked by Gavin. Each time I’ve eaten here I am so impressed with the high standard of food, presentation and service. The menu changes regularly and has something for everyone - freshly prepared and accompanied by a very acceptable Merlot. Keep on doing what you’re doing - you’ve got it perfected!

Food, service, and ambience excellent. Many restaurants have good food but McHalls just has that little bit extra. Been a few times now (even though it's 30 miles away) and it never fails to delight.

The hotel itself was very nice, room was great. Very comfy bed and plenty off the little extras in the room didn't go unnoticed. Breakfast was probably one of the best I have had in Blackpool. Quality produce. Credit where credit is due.

Daniel is a lovely man. Chatty & makes you feel welcome. Breakfast was lovely with a lovely selection of fresh fruits. When we were leaving for our night out he came to the door & said how nice I looked & said to have a great night. The little things that count . Thanks Daniel. X x x

Situated a couple of minutes walk from the railway station and 5/10 minute walk from north pier tram stop. You will found Mchalls Bistro which is run by Daniel and Gavin. The bistro is open only on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5pm and for Sunday lunch. It is definitely worth booking. You are met at the door by the most genial host Daniel who has an excellent knowledge of the menu and wine list. Always has a word and something to say and really is the best host. Then onto the food which is beautifully prepared by Gavin. Everything is homemade from the custard to the ice cream to the bread. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food that is served. The room has around 8 tables and has a great atmosphere with the music just right and candles all round the room.

We stayed here for a short break and what a fantastic Guest house,ideal for the train station,two minutes walk to the town centre and seafront with the most welcoming of host and delicious breakfast on both mornings

A comfortable bistro with pleasing service. Food is beautifully cooked and presented not to mention absolutely perfect in the taste department. Excellent as per every visit.

I’ve just returned from Blackpool after spending a fabulous weekend with family to celebrate my 60th birthday. It was our first time at McCall’s b and b and bistro, but it will not be our last. We were greeted by Danny and made to feel very welcome right from the start.
