The atmosphere is warm and nice. Service is incredible especially Jeremy and Santiago. The host from the front desk made us felt so welcome. The food is devine. We enjoyed it very much.

As 5/5 as it gets. Classical French cuisine done in a highly professional manner. The food (crab raviolo, smoked salmon, duck breast, Cornish brill) was immaculate with well balanced flavours and cooked to perfection. What really stood out, however, was the service. Every member of the staff made us feel at ease and added to a pleasent evening.

We decided to celebrate a special occasion at Medlar after reading the reviews. We booked well in advance and the manager tried to seat us right in front of the door on a chilli night when we arrived. We declined and he kindly took us to the back of the restaurant where he found a nice corner for us. The food was excellent, perfectly executed using top quality seasonal ingredients. The service staff generally are nice and quite attentive particularly those at junior level. However, it is clear those with seniority use their hierarchy positions to be opinionated and make inappropriate comments. The female sommelier was one of them, pushing to order making remarks, quickly opening our bottle of red wine whilst we were still enjoying a carafe of white. When we told her to stop she rolled her eyes and avoided eye contact from there on.Towards the end of the meal the manager came to our table and sarcastically told us he was going to “update our profile noting we didn’t like to seat in front of the door”. It was all a bit odd and made us feel uncomfortable. We left the restaurant in the middle of the busy dinner service and guess what…the tables in front of the door were still empty! So we weren’t the only ones refusing to sit in front of the draft. His remark was full of sarcasm and spoilt what had otherwise been a pleasant experience.

***Eat incredible food at a reasonable price*** Looking at the food you would think that it would cost much more than it is. If I lived in London, I would come here very often. The fish was well seasoned and cooked to a perfect doneness. Both the front of the house and back of the house know what they are doing. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Visit: 1

A beautiful restaurant with the most lovely staff, incredibly attentive with quick service. The wine list is outstanding. The food menu is great with fantastic variety and thought-through dishes featuring the best of French cuisine. Unfortunately the gnocchi dish was bland and quite doughy. I’d suggest any other dish on the menu 👍

Overall a delightful evening at Medlar. Consistency since my last visit a year ago. Very good menu and flavours in the food. Portions were of a good size and wine list was great. Service was top notch throughout. Will return for a yearly treat.

We’ve been wanting to try Medlar for a while, having read great reviews about it, but never got round to it until last night when we visited it for a nice family dinner to celebrate Mother’s Day. We definitely regretted not having tried it earlier. Every was spot on. Delicious dishes, beautifully prepared and presented, and lovely, attentive staff going over and beyond to make your experience perfect. Every choice was great… the foie gras and toasted brioche, the roast cod, the grilled artichoke, the duck, the cheese board and the tarte Tatin for two (big enough for 4!) with its crème fraîche ice cream. A real treat from beginning to end. Great choice of wines too. Needless to say, we will be back before long!

I have been dining here for many years , it just keeps getting better. The food is amazing the welcoming staff make it such a treat . They even remember my favourite dishes from the menu . My favourite London restaurant for sure . Thank you David and the team !

Medlar simply never fails to satisfy . Top quality food - their classic crab raviolo starter is always guaranteed to satisfy . Three of our party of four had it . Superb selection of mains of excellent quality . The cheese plate we shared before desert was stunning - served at the perfect temperature and wonderful deserts , note in particular the tarte tatin. The wine list is extensive and simply caters for all tastes and budgets . Service was faultless . Put simply Medlar is a gem .

The front of hour staff were outstanding, extremely friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our evening. I would definitely return when I’m next in town.

This is how restaurants are meant to be. No pretension, proper food, served superbly by people who genuinely want you to relax and enjoy yourself. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we were well looked after. Food is superb. Wine choice excellent. And very good value for what it is. Can’t wait to go back. Do yourself a favour and skip the places who think you should consider yourself lucky to eat there, and go to Medlar instead

Great restaurant. Staff kind, attentive, working hard and know their menu and their wines. Food superb. Lovely ambience: busy but not crowded. None of this sharing plate, bring your food out at random times, affectation. A proper restaurant.

Had a wonderful lunch here in February 2024. One of the best meals I've had in a long while. The main course of blade beef was elegantly sliced, generous and fabulous. The only problem would be for people with mobility issues as the loo is in the basement and we were on the second floor, but it was worth the climb! There are tables on the ground floor as well. Would go back and would also recommend.

Really enjoyed a midweek lunch at Medlar. Lots of inventive choices on offer and well-presented. Opting for three courses and coffee proved pretty irresistible, and the dishes delivered - fabulous blend of flavours. Great service too. Nice extras - choice of breads and petit fours with coffee. The prix fixe option is very good.

The food is consistently delicious & the service is great.

Fixed menu at £60 for 2 course for dinner is pretty reasonable, the food is very competent and service, bar a small hiccup, was very attentive and made for a very good night. Said hiccup was handled efficiently and without fuss, we are all human, and its these things that show true professionalism. Crab ravioli was lovely, the lamb and duck mains both showed depth and complexity, the meal, service and overall experience were worth another visit, well be back!

First class - if i could give this 6 stars I would. Lovely staff, lovely food, lovely atmosphere. Also, you can bring your own wine for those special occasions (small corkage fee applies). I will be back very soon!

Absolutely delicious food. We had 3 courses at lunch for £47pp, which is a real bargain. The kitchen team are very talented and they're not stingy with the portions either. They add 15% service charge to the bill, but the service is exemplary, so I don't mind too much.

It is with pleasure to write a review of Medlar. It was the one to beat during my trip to London. From exemplary service to spectacular food and wine selection, the staff never skipped a beat. I would recommend Medlar without hesitation.

Best restaurant in Chelsea ! Everything was perfect

The food was delicious, well-presented, portions were satisfying and there was great care taken over our gluten-free guest's choices. Thoughtful and accomplished all around.

I love Medlar. My wife and I went there for our wedding and again on our anniversary. Their service is impeccable- on both occasions the staff were tremendously attentive and we ended up with free deserts, which is always a pleasant surprise. We go for lunches during the week as they are typically slow and easy to book. While we had a bit of an unfortunate incident there (an elderly gentleman got confused and had an accident in the back), this was no fault of the restaurant and its staff. If anything, they treated the gentleman with respect, which I commend. It is definitely not pleasant for me as a customer but then I think: "I would like people to treat my parents with respect, if they ever end up in this situation as they get older."

Located in southern Chelsea, Medlar offers a cozy atmosphere for fine dining without straining your budget. However, there is considerable room for improvement. The butter could be softer, and the fries need to be cooked more consistently. While the service is friendly, it lacks the sophistication expected from a fine dining establishment, with the pacing feeling uneven and somewhat chaotic at times. The portion sizes are satisfying, and the tarte tatin is great. However, the overall dining experience does not dazzle; it's mostly well-executed food. The wine pairing is good and complements the dishes nicely, though it isn't extraordinary. Had the bill been slightly higher, I might have rated it three stars. Nonetheless, it was a nice dining experience.

A very enjoyable lunch, I was very much looking forward to dining at Medlar and the experience was as I’d expected, excellent all round, the staff were lovely and the food superb, definitely deserves another trip, the fact it’s open on a Monday was particularly good for me.

Cooking has deteriorated markedly. E.g., the tempura was oily rather than crisp; the fish not the freshest; the beef plain boring. The menu is not well balanced. Ambience is not soothing; terrible lighting and tiny font makes it near impossible for those of us of a certain age to read the menu. Staff delightful.

Amazing , without doubt one of the most wonderful restaurant's I have dined at. Very understated , relaxed atmosphere , service is professional yet friendly and everything arrives to the table in a seamless poetry. The food is excellent and on par with any Michelin star restaurants I have visited. Medlar is wonderful and the staff are amazing.

Lovely food and fantastic service. The French waiter we had serving us was funny and super friendly. Never an empty glass on the table! seamless service and delicious food. I only score down on the atmosphere as we dined early during the week, so the restaurant only had one other table sitting at the same time as us.

Top notch understated restaurant. Cannot criticise anything. Dishes are perfect tasting, beautiful masterpieces. Service is always correct & refined but relaxed at the same time. Lovely to always be remembered, over & over. I have never been upstairs.

We went for lunch on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed it. A great set menu grounded in modern French cuisine, excellent cooking and service, everything was delicious and the ambience was perfect: local and relaxed. We didn’t choose the Tarte Tatin but having seen it arrive on another table will definitely be ordering this next time!

A decade of success already and no sign of stopping. Irene playing her part by taking the Sommelier role onwards building on a fine heritage. A real treat, everyone should experience.
