Meze Meze in Edinburgh, City of

Had a very enjoyable and relaxed lunch here. We had no plans of what we would do and weren't even sure what we wanted but this looked good and we had a great lunch. The meze selection was great and everything we had was fantastic. The Turkish white wine was also perfect. Any restaurant that has a good wine list and serves everything by the glass and bottle is always a good find and this is definitely worth the visit if you're in Edinburgh

Visited here on Friday night more on impulse than anything else. We had a great time! Food was great, well presented, extremely tasty and great value for money. Special mention to the front of house team who were friendly, efficient and obviously enjoy working together which really made for a very enjoyable night. Will be back soon!

Hmmm kind of average, it’s more 2-3 star but I’ll go with 3. We had the meze platter for two and two other main dishes. The platter was mainly just dips and in our opinion not worth £80. The food was just alright nothing that stood out. Great location. Don’t use the restrooms until you’ve eaten just a tip.

This spot has some of the best Mediterranean food we had ever eaten!! I staff where incredible and we where provides with a couple dishes on the house (Chef was feeling great!). In addition the chef was so sweet!! They told us how they put customers and their needs first, befo money. I would recommend to anyone passi g through 10/10❤️❤️🏆

This is an excellent restaurant standing on the vibrant Rose Street pedestrian thoroughfare, just a stone’s throw away from Princes Street. A party of four of us (two couples) went there around 7.30pm on a Saturday evening more in hope than expectation of getting a table, as the restaurant appeared to be full. The staff however were very welcoming and managed to accommodate us with no fuss. The atmosphere inside was very cosmopolitan and cozy. Despite being busy, we were quickly served with drinks and had our meal orders taken shortly thereafter. The Mediterranean menu was extensive and we were helpfully guided through it by the table staff. We opted for the set meze, and were told that it included a bit of everything from the menu. They were not kidding here as the food literally covered our entire table - a beautiful showcase of hit and cold food which was absolutely delicious. Hats off to the kitchen staff for a sumptuous and delicious meal. Despite being virtually full, we endeavoured to fit in a dessert, but only just - a lovely portion of baklava being split four ways. A round of limoncellos, in the company of the owner and staff finished off a perfect meal. Given the amount of food and drink we had, the bill was more than reasonable, especially bearing in mind the fantastic central location of this restaurant. All in all a memorable meal in a lovely restaurant. A big thank you to all the staff, especially Alice one of our waitresses who was lovely. We will definitely be back next time we visit Edinburgh and I would highly recommend Meze Meze to anyone who loves Mediterranean food. Well done and thank you !

I have visited this tucked away restaurant for about my 6th time in a year. Each time I share this little gem with someone special as it’s something worthwhile to share. Their gyros plate is delicious! I don’t order anything else. It’s quite a big portion so come hungry. My husband’s had their meze’s hot/cold which was equally delicious and filling. It’s a tiny restaurant so I’d recommend booking if you can to ensure you have a seat.

I’d passed this place a few times when I visited Edinburgh previously. Finally took the plunge when I saw their menu declared plenty of Dairy Free (DF) and Gluten Free (GF) options. I dined alone for dinner. I was not disappointed. Menu recommended 3-4 meze plates per person, I was about to order my fourth plate when the waiter told me it would be enough. There was a lot of food when it arrived and they even gave me a hoummus as a freebie. Had the Sujuk (spicy beef), halloumi and falafel. The falafel balls were to die for, so crisp and fresh, I’ve never had falafel quite like it. Salad accompaniments were all fresh. Gluten free bread provided on the side which had been warmed. Absolutely delicious.

Fabulous little place. The dishes were of a good size and were mouthwatering delicious. Three optics each was more than enough. Great vegan options too. The staff were lovely and very helpful when we were choosing what we wanted. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Just amazing! My wife had 3 hot Meze (the lamb humus was superb). For me, the zesty lentil soup and chicken based tagine were delicious. Extremely fresh food with an explosion of different flavours. Staff were delightful, helpful and accommodating throughout our meal and the atmosphere in the place was perfect! This is our first time in Edinburgh and we have not been disappointed. We will definitely be coming back here to eat when we revisit. 😀

Our 5th time here (possibly more than that) although we don't live near Edinburgh, it's one we often come to when through for shopping. Absolutely gorgeous food, brilliant variety & portions, decent value and the staff are always lovely, friendly & helpful.

Incredible food with varied and authentic cuisine. I had the duck which I hadn't had cooked this way before and it was delicious but honestly everything the rest of the table had looked just as good. The portions are big and sure to satisfy you but you would be amiss to not try the entrants. The staff is very friendly and professional and the atmosphere was more than pleasant. If you're in Edinburgh it is definitely worth a visit

My sister and I attempted to eat here on a Tuesday lunchtime. We asked if there could be space made next to a table for my newborn baby in his pram. We were told no and that it would be too cramped. There were no other diners in the restaurant so accommodating this simple request wouldn’t have been difficult. We decided to eat at The Real Greek in the St. James Quarter where my newborn baby and his pram were welcomed.

Really tasty food, beautifully presented. We had a small bowl of olives and peppers to start, really good, a bit zingy with plump olives and crisp peppers slices. The salads that the dishes came on were fresh and well put together. The hummus was rich and so very different from shop bought. The Potato Bravas was a bit dry and the chicken skewers a bit bland but those were the only things that we could (mildly) complain about. Service was good - friendly and attentive and the wines were decent. We'd go back.

We ate here on Friday and it was so delicious, we returned to eat on Sunday. We were seated downstairs for our first visit, which is the reason for only 4 stars for the atmosphere. Upstairs is much better for seating, although the food is great where ever you sit. The food is also really well presented and I was blown away by the baklava for desert.

Lovely experience grabbing a quick bite for dinner. As a solo traveler I appreciated the space, center to the main area of Edinburgh- service was on point and wasn’t too over stimulated with conversation with servers. Perfect for an intimate dinner. Would recommend for middle easterners, Greeks and others who find Scottish food to heavy or bland.

Went as a couple recently - Cons: Went on a weekday evening and despite booking in advance found ourselves crammed in at a table with another party (an inch at most between tables) which removed any sort of privacy. The side of the table I was sat at was a thoroughfare and waitress's kept bumping into my shoulder every time they walked by. Were asked if we wanted olives as we sat down, turned out to be £6 olives (hadn't had a chance to see the menu and realise they weren't complimentary). We were charged £3 for an extra piece of pita bread so we could have 1 each. Some of the dishes seemed more generous than others - 2 pieces of haloumi (£7.50) Pros: Generally the food was good quality and tasty, the atmosphere was decent.

This was a REAL find on Rose Street. Excellent service. Will certainly be recommending Meze Meze to friends and look forward to returning.

Nice place to have lunch or dinner, is a turkish restaurant but having a good variety of mediterranean food, as a spaniard I find here healthy food very similar to my home food especially respect to salads. I am living in Edinburgh so I can have a rest from UK cuisine and enjoy mediterranean food. Presentation and portion are fantastic. Is the forth or fith time we come here and we plan to come back!

Wow wow wow, what a restaurant. We opted for 7 of the Hot mezes they were all fantastic. If we knew how large the portions were 5-6 would have been better but in all fairness me and my partner gave it a good go, but that wasn't hard as we couldn't stop eating. Food was amazing, great and efficient service 10/10 would return. Would also like to mention they gave us a few dishes to try on the house. It really made our night. Thanks guys!

Such a great little spot! As a fussy vegetarian I was a little worried that the selection of dishes wouldn't suit me, but I was very happy to find that this wasn't the case! Dishes are bigger than expected and there's a great variety to choose from – price is a reflection of the size. Staff were very friendly, and were kind enough to supply some bread, hummus and vine leaves on the house — thank you! If you're planning on visiting, it's worth booking due to the small size of the venue. Worth keeping in mind that the toilets downstairs. Would highly recommend!

Nous avons bien mangé tout au long de notre séjour Ecossais mais là c'est vraiment le flop total !!

Such a shame about the high prices ! Four of us sat down to select a different Meze each to try but we were told we had to order at least 2 mezes each !! The price of the Meze feast is even more expensive @ £40 / person and a minimum of 2 people !!!!! That's £80 for just 2 people. No wonder there wasn't anybody else eating in there !!

Horrible service. The waitress lied to us to steal our money. I was happy with the food alone. Greek Gyros are my favourite and I ordered the same and it did not come wrapped like an actual gyro or taste the most traditional. All elements of the typical wrap were put on separate parts on the plate which looked like a salad or bunch of ingredients next to two pieces of pita bread. I paid 20 for it and the price matched the quantity but not the quality as much. It tasted nice though after I put it all together. The atmosphere was fine but they let a group of ten make a booking and it made the place SO CRAMPED. The waitress was horrible and that ruined my experience. She was evidently very money minded. Despite us being students she was first pushing for us to buy the most expensive meze for 40 pounds per person which was a bit ridiculous. She did not specify the quantity or other details about the dishes. The chilies were extremely spicy and one person in my group started coughing extremely due to it. The waitress did not even help and stood next to the customer and said "maybe take something from another customer's dish" (despite us paying 200+ she could not even give a small piece of cheese or some water or fruit or bread). The same waitress wrote for everyone in my group separate receipts and added service charge for each receipt by herself. She treated each person in my group as a separate order for payment which was alright. Due to the bad service certain people wanted to remove the service fee off THEIR OWN bill and SHE LIED to the individuals saying they are OBLIGATED TO PAY. And said it is IMPOSSIBLE to remove it. She even lied that all of us (who ordered and paid SEPARATELY with SEPARATE RECEIPTS) should pay the service fee Together (LIE) and because some already paid she cannot remove it from an individual's SEPARATE receipt (LIE). HOW DARE SHE LIES TO ME AND MY FRIENDS ABOUT WHERE OUR OWN MONEY IS GOING. She took advantage of new university students who are there for the first time. If this restaurant wants to earn money from lying to its customers then they are just frauds. Very upsetting behaviour.

Great Mediterranean dishes ! Omg food is extremely delicious. As a Turkish girl, this is the best Turkish cousine I have been so far in UK. Borek is how exactly supposed to be like , nice and crispy. Pide bread was so fresh , nice to deep in hummus. Well done team.

That was a perfect place that I have been on 14th August 2023 for lunch. Very friendly and helpful staff. I am Turkish and I like this place very much. If you are not familiar with Turkish Mezes, very friendly staff is helpful to choose them. I tried only hot mezes and all was perfect. Thanks, I will visit again asap.

Even we had only snack food but was tasting very good and definitely will try later restaurant main food . The staff are very friendly and cooperative . The service was very good . We thank the young lady for her excellent and pleasant service .

Gorgeous wee place on Rose Street, perfect outdoor dining, feels like in Roma. The left toilet cabin is a tad tricky due to size but except that absolutely gorgeous food , quick service and lovely music.

Restaurante turco correcto, nada barato , para tomar algo distinto de la gastronomía escocesa. Los primeros (starters) justitos de cantidad, y los segundos (mains) al revés, bastante copiosos, casi para dos, pero en general sabrosos. Cervezas de botellín, ninguna de grifo. Tuvimos que pagar en efectivo, ... no les funcionaba el lector de tarjetas. Personal ... pues tirando a borde.

Food was tasteless, we were told that we HAVE TO order 2 mezes per person even if one of us was not hungry and the place was not busy in the middle of the week. Eventually very nice waitress get us premission from her boss to order just 3 dishes for 2 ppl, but her boss was observing us and it seemed that he had a problem with our order. He laughed at me when i told him that i forgot to tell that i don't need bread because i can't have it. We felt very weird and uncomfortable because of him. Almost 7 pounds for a meze, portions were small for the price, 7 pounds for potato cubes with tomato sauce which taste like passata. Lentil soup more sour than spicy, and 4 bits of tasteless quite small falafels. Any stars only for waitress who was very kind to us. I do not recommend at all.

The food was good staff were fine and pleasant but the price from meze increased from £32.50 to £40 no desert or coffee was included in the meze for £40 I would expect more food and definitely baklava thets the reason it gets 2 stars
