We stopped for lunch here and the food and service was excellent. The quiche was beautifully light and came with a nice side salad. They also have an excellent choice of cakes, brownies etc. The staff were so friendly too. Definitely worth a visit.

Amazing!! Came for a walk to the falls and happened upon this wonderful tearoom. Had no idea it was there and was overwhelmed with the quality and choice of the food. Three of us had afternoon teas which were massive, loads of choice, really generous and the staff were happy to accommodate minor tweaks. I had a tuna salad (off menu) and am gluten free and dairy free and again they were happy to accommodate! For the quality of the food, the service and the afternoon tea it's somewhere I would have thought would need pre booking but they had it all freshly made for us in such a short time! Will definitely be making this a regular place to bring friends and family to the area.

We arrive here early lunch time and it was full. However we decided to wait outside and once a table was free we were called through. It's a real walkers cafe. Not trendy or fashionably furnished. The food was yummy and the 2 ladies serving were really efficient and working hard.

We came to Aysgarth on a rainy day and were so happy to find this adorable tea shop open and ready to house and feed us. Such a lovely atmosphere with fairy lights and full cake counter. The soup and sandwiches and afternoon tea were very delicious and truly affordable. It’d be a dream to come regularly.

Gorgeous little tea rooms with the biggest selection of cakes and sweet treats, including ice cream. A large selection of sandwiches, soup, quiche, pork pies, ploughman’s, afternoon tea. Service was excellent. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Very quick service, delicious food and drinks and reasonably priced. It’s dog friendly too. It’s not very big, so you may have to wait for a table, but worth it. Will definitely return!!

Just what you need after a bracing walk by the Aysgarth falls is a lovely pot of Yorkshire tea and a delicious slice of fruit cake and Wensleydale cheese. All served by delightful, friendly staff.

I cannot recommend this cafe enough. The sisters who run it are incredibly friendly and professional. The selection of food and drink is extensive and of incredibly high standard. The warm cheese scone with Wensleydale cheese and chutney is a favourite of ours. The biggest positive to us is they provide a toddler/pre schooler menu with healthy choices. You might think that would be common practice but sadly no and it was amazing to see. Next time we’re holidaying in the Dales, we’ve decided we’ll only visit here for lunch! The other cafes we frequented recently have fallen well below par. It’s important to support worthy businesses - use them or lose them!

We stopped here for a hot chocolate and cakes whilst visiting the waterfall. The service was friendly and efficient and the home made cakes were amazing. Well worth a visit.

Couldn't be bettered! At first glance, the prices were 'realistic' rather than inexpensive...but, my goodness, what good value they turned out to be! Very generous portions of tasty, very fresh food (we can personally vouch for both the quiche and bacon roll, but we saw other enviable meals served to other diners during our visit!). In fact, we enjoyed it so much we couldn't resist an unecessarily generous selection from the takeaway counter for our supper (such a huge quantity packed up for us that some of it had to go in the 'fridge for breakfast the next day!). Will certainly return here whenever in the area...don't change anything!

Excellent, home-cooked food -generous portions, appetising presentation, friendly and efficient service. We enjoyed ours so much we greedily bought additional 'supplies' to enjoy in the evening! Delighted to find they even arrange delivery of delicious cakes to anywhere in the country...there's some 'difficult-to-decide' birthday gifts sorted!

A great cafe at the beginning of the trail. And They had a large selection of cakes, and the quiche was really good. Delicious and incredibly tasty pork pies and brownies are available. On the way to the walk, it is definitely worth a visit.

Not disappointed- staff friendly and our sandwiches were lovely. Took some delicious goodies away with us- chocolate brownie and blackcurrant flapjack. We will definitely return .

This place is a total gem. Amazing food, lovely service, dog and kid friendly and the prices are really reasonable. 4 of us had soup, scones, drinks and cakes for less than £40. Really busy on a Friday lunchtime so be prepared to wait for a table, and whilst we were there (around 1:30) they sold out of soup and quiche due to popularity! There's plenty of other things on the menu. Totally worth a visit!

Called en route back from the Falls, perfect location although no parking. Cute tea shop with plenty of character. Good choice on menu although we just wanted drinks. We did end up taking out a blackcurrant flapjack though and a Bakewell blondie, which were both delicious. Eager to try the lemon & blueberry scones but they had sold out. Highly recommend

Wow, this is the best place ever for sandwiches, cakes in fact everything!!! Just had an afternoon tea there and the selection and quality was superb! So so good. Will keep coming back that’s without doubt. Brilliant!! 👍

The food day was absolutely lovely, good value and a super spot by the river. We would definitely recommend. We thought the cakes were particularly delicious. I’ve noted someone has written a review that says the staff were rude, we found the two ladies working today to be very polite and they were clearly working hard as it was pretty busy. Family friendly too.

came for a quick drink after a lovely new year’s day walk by the falls. Wasn’t busy so we thought a nice coffee before heading home would top the day off. wrong. walked in and waited 10 minutes at the door waiting to be at least acknowledged by staff who didnt even look at us or acknowledge us waiting. we walked out after waiting twiddling our thumbs, at least a hi or a bit of eye contact to acknowledge we were even there would of been nice. too busy collecting tips & taking payment from other tables (there were tables free but says wait for service). shocking service & a bad end to a nice day out, won’t be returning anytime soon (to the cafe at least)

What a selection!! All homemade - soup was delicious (leek & sweet potato), baked potato, Welsh rarebit & a BLT - salad & coleslaw all yummy. Couldn't manage cakes aswell but will go again just for those, they all looked wonderful! Service was lovely too, very friendly & welcoming

Simply the best..... Best home baking, best staff friendliness and just best all round. We had the afternoon tea which was delicious and so generous that we left with all the treats we did not have room for, in 3....yes 3!!! boxes. Our 2 choc labs loved their meaty treat bags only£1.50 and full of fresh ham, chicken, sausage and doggie treats. Can't recommend highly enough. This lovely tearoom is a total gem in a unique setting... Seriously excellent. We will be back....

We walked past this place after visiting the falls towards the end of the afternoon but doubled back as we fancied a quick takeaway pick-me-up, and were glad we did! We were warmly welcomed into the cosy and charming room, where the only problem was which of the mouth-watering array of treats to choose. I can safely say the caramel shortbread was the best I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve tasted plenty. Do not miss out if you are in the area!

Normally my ideal cafe contains three important elements: a pleasant view, good food, and nice staff; however, the Mill Race Teashop can claim five; not only an amazing takeaway service but also the best pork pies in the world (further turbo amazing if had warm)! So, with a bridge side spot overlooking Aysgarth Falls and the River Ure (or Yore for any heritage fanatics) I don’t believe the scenery bit requires any further explanation; stunningly beautiful. Now to the food; one of the reasons why I have upped my training regime is the scones and the pork pies. As for the lunchtime platter for two; a real wholesome treat, especially if you’ve been out walking and have a bit of a hangry on. Oh, and the cakes! Wash it down with a great range of tea and you’ll see why I’m a repeat visitor there. The staff are lovely; all of them! 😁 So, with the three main elements covered, the fourth aspect is the takeaway service. If we get visitors (we live within 5 miles) then we order their takeaway cream teas. I do heartily recommend this; especially if you want someone else to do the catering in your own home. All of the amazing scones and cakes mentioned above plus some nice sandwiches (with proper filling) make this a great option. They also bake birthday cakes; the chocolate cake for my Mum’s birthday and the coffee and walnut for our friends’ anniversary were both amazing! Finally, I am known by them as the “pork pie man” for my regular consumption of their pork pies. As I say, they are the best on the planet and if you are able to grab one warm from them it will be a life-changing experience. Many thanks again all for your hospitality! Sorry we’ve not seen you for a while but we’ve had to spend some serious “scone related” time in the gym! See you soon 😁👍xxxxx

Understatedly brilliant. Excellent food quality, taste, and quantity. Cheesiest scone and most chocolaty double chocolate brownie in Yorkshire? Would be excellent to get more light over the cake selection to better see them 🙏

We stopped here for lunch whilst seeing the waterfalls. Food was excellent (toasted sandwich, soup), hot chocolate was great and cakes delicious. The staff were very polite and attentive. We will be back.

We went to visit Aysgarth Falls and we decided to stop for one coffee before starting. It was a bit cold, 4 degrees so, getting a bit of warm up. We had two golden retrievers that loved their meat treats, £ 1.50 per bag. And then, we ordered cherry scones which it was so amazing. Best scones ever. Staff friendly and welcoming. We definitely will come back.

My husband and i stopped here on a rainy lunch time. Exceptional!! Coffee was hot and creamy not burnt and bitter. Quiche and platter lunch were fabulous. All home made and with love. We took home cookies and a caramel slice, both of which tasted great! The service was welcoming and extremely friendly. Our food and drinks arrived without a wait and my only wish would be that we had found it sooner while staying in the area! You're doing an amazing job!

Wonderful gluten-free sandwiches and bakewell tart. A destination dining experience for anyone gluten intolerant. Delicious tart!

This is one of the best cafes I have ever visited. Everything a cafe should be from welcoming friendly service, extensive gluten-free menu, excellent food with generous portions and overall superb value for money. Worth going to Aysgarth for this gem of an establishment alone, never mind the waterfalls!

I cannot praise this place highly enough. We visit for lunch every time we are in the area, and have been about 10 times now. The ham and cheese toasties are to die for, and I would indeed choose for my last meal on earth. ALL the food is consistently great, EVERY visit. All the excellent cakes are made by the team who run the cafe. Please visit if you are in the area. You will not be disappointed, and I defy you not to leave a 5 star review.

We attempted to visit the cafe but were quite rudely turned away. We were told the cafe was full but we would have been happy to wait but when I suggested that and we were very curtly told the wait would be very long. The person was very rude and we left as quickly as we were turned away. We will know to avoid this cafe in the future.

We visited the Mill Race Teashop three times altogether during our recent stay in Aysgarth, so good was the food, the atmosphere and the service. Our first visit was for an afternoon coffee and a cake. Unfortunately we left it late, and the small seating...

Visited today around 1130-1145 just after opening. We ordered Afternoon Tea and the portions were outstandingly generous and delicious. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Due to it being a small place there may be a wait for a table, but it’s well worth it.

Great little tea shop, very busy on the Sunday afternoon that we went , so just had an ice cream and coffee sat outside on the benches provided. Lovely little place

Kwamen hier een ijsje halen na onze wandeling naar de watervallen. Gelukkig hebben we hier een ijsje gegeten en niet in het visitor centre want hier geweldig ijs. De chocolade en citroenmeringue zijn super! Heel grote bollen ijs!..

Even if you have to travel 2 hours to visit, it can never be too far. Truly the best Afternoon Tea we have ever had. The quiche and the scones are out of this world. Highly recommended.

Wonderful 1st visit to Mill Race Teashop! We came for a Mother's Day treat & had superb experience. Excellent staff with beautiful home cooked food. We went for Afternoon Tea which was delicious. A real mixture of savory & sweet treats to suit all! The Childrens toastie plate was excellent value for money. When you arrive somewhere & there is a queue before they open is a sign of a good place! Will certainly visit again & can't believe we haven't yet!

We stopped here having seen the little teashop featured on a popular travel programme, and we are so glad we did. Our dog was welcome and everything on offer looked amazing. We opted for a Wensleydale and red onion marmalade sandwich, and a toasted Yorkshire ham and Cheddar sandwich. Both came with a delicious home made coleslaw, salad and crisps. Value for money was very good in comparison to other places we have been and the food was delicious. Despite being quite full after the sandwich we couldn't leave without sampling one of the homemade cakes. I had the white chocolate and blackcurrant flapjack and can honestly say, after 53 years of eating flapjack wherever I can find it, this was the best ever and by a long way. It was gooey, unctuous and sweet without being sickly. Very filling and with a really well balanced level between the sweetness of the white chocolate ganache and the blackcurrant jam. My wife chose the tiffin which proved so rich she could only manage half of it and took the rest home. The staff were lovely and service excellent. Prices good. Overall highly recommended!

Popped in for ice cream half way through our jaunt around Aysgarth Falls. There are around 8 different flavours to choose from. We pretty much tasted them all amongst us. I went for the double chocolate and lemon meringue double scoop which was £4. Not the cheapest however the ice cream is dreamy. Very friendly service and the sever could not have been nicer which definitely makes the whole experience a lot nicer. There is also a exquisite selection of cakes and a tea room located inside the same building. We spoke to some other walkers and they were amazed by both the size of the double scoop and actually thought it was reasonably priced. They had just regrettably bought an ice cream at the visitors centre up the road and complained about the price. Would recommend without hesitation; well done! Oh, they also do doggie ice cream!

Had the Mill Race Platter for 2, absolutely awesome, lovely salad, superb ham, 3 excellent cheeses, all in very generous portions and a very nice pork pie. Absolutely stuffed so I couldn't manage a cake from their very appetising selection, but my daughter could and it was lovely. Great service, great food in generous measure, a must to visit.

The most amazing lunch and afternoon tea. Such generous portions (you will not leave hungry!), completely delicious food and really lovely people who work there. Beautiful lunch in fab surroundings at an excellent price. Excellent quality, with well made, home made items. We shared a ploughman’s lunch and added a home made scotch egg to share and could not of been happier with what was served. Everything was of the absolute best quality and the staff were excellent. My only gripe was not having any cash to leave a tip and being unable to do this via the card payment system when paying the bill..

Excellent little tea shop. Only half a dozen tables but we were lucky to get a free one. Cream tea and cheese tea were both very nice. Loads of jam and cream for the nicely warmed fruit scones and a good slice of cheese with...

Such a lovely cafe! We were so happy to find it. We walked from Castle Bolton through rain and shine to visit the Falls. This place is just a minute away from there and the car park. Dogs and muddy boots are welcome, which was such a relief! My wife had the Afternoon tea, she enjoyed every single bite of it, so did we! Everything is made by the lovely ladies who run the place. Everything was so fresh and delicious, we had to buy the last few scones for later :) Lovely, friendly, smiley place.

When it's busy the queue for takeout can overflow to the seating area.
