First class fish and chips perfectly cooked piping hot and served with a friendly smile by attentive and professional staff. What's not to like!

Heard great things about Millers so expecting it to be better than my usual chippie. Got the 2 fish and 1 chips we always get from Brockfield chippie. It’s always plenty and I’d been told that portions were large. It cost over £1.00 more than we usually pay but thought that’s okay if they were that good. When we got home we were gobsmacked to find the fish was tiny. The portion of chips was so small it didn’t even fill a hungry husband. Put it down to experience and said we’d never go again…Then saw Millers on YouTube “Rate my takeaway”. The size of his fish and chips, mushy peas, gravy and a drink for £12.60 was nowhere near our experience for over £12.00 for 2 tiny fish and a small portion of chips…what went wrong or was it just a mistake.

Crispy batter, delicious white flakey fish, the best fish and chip shop in uk and into the bargain lovely friendly people. What could be better on a Saturday teatime.? Well done Millers.

I had regular chips on a tray with peas and battered sausage and my husband had chips and curry. Was nice taste but the tray was only half full with chips. Not many for the money. But would eat there again if we stayed in haxby.

Been regular customers before pandemic. Other half coeliac. Understand gluten free restricted during lockdown but still only available Wed and Thurs and this is to continue. Discrimination against people with food allergy. Coeliacs don't just eat Wed and Thurs. What a joke. Go to Thompsons where gluten free always available.

Recently moved to the area and wanted to try Millers.I thought I had ordered via the App. But when I got there it quickly became apparent that my order had not gone through. I am prepared to accept that might have been due to my lack of familiarity with the App.I received great service though from one of the lads operating the collection point and I re-ordered and my food was ready within 10 minutes at a busy time.Haddock was beautiful, as near perfect as is as possible. Peas were good. Chips were a little undercooked for my taste, needed to be a bit browner and crisper. I also had a curry sauce to try but again this was not to my taste, too fruity and sweet but again I accept this was probably my taste buds rather than it being wrong.Overall despite the issues a good experience and would return.

Fish & chips was nice enough, there just wasn’t much of it.Often at fish & chip takeaways the tail it almost hanging out the box. There was no danger of that happening here, and it was a small box.Felt like I was given a kids portion. Still hungry. Won’t be going back.

We have waited so long for the restaurant to re-open since lock down and on Friday night we finally got to dine in again. The food and service were spot on as usual and there are some very tempting additions to the menu. We both had jumbo haddocks and Yorkshire tea and were served by Jon. Will be returning soon. Well done Millers.

After the end of covid restrictions there was only ever one place that was going to be our first meal out. Before the lockdowns we would eat at this restaurant at least twice a month, and after 14 months away we are so pleased that its open again. Great quality food and wonderful, professional service in a cosy relaxed restaurant.

The fish and chips were pretty good. A little pricey for 6 nuggets being £3 but the food was packaged well. I ordered for delivery and it took around 45mins as they said it would. Food came and was slightly soggy but it’s expected.

Finally, a vegan fish and chips experience that harkens back to my childhood. Vegan fries that were deliciously golden brown and guilt free. Cauliflower popcorn wings with sweet chilli dip which was tasty, refreshing and plentiful. Saving the best till last, fishless fishcakes. A large battered covered fishless experience that was moorish when mixed with the mouthwatering tartar sauce. My I congratulate the staff and inspired chef of Millers who created this somewhat addictive vegan menu. I don't know how regular Millers plan to offer this vegan menu but I could do twice a week. Thank you.

Just moved to the area and wanted to try the local restaurants. Delicious fish and chips. Firm haddock in a crispy batter and yummy chips and took just 10 minutes from order to collection. We enjoyed the food so much we are a little scared we live so near.........

This is my local fish and chip shop which I've used for many years but during lockdown they have been outstanding friendly staff and can't fault great delivery to my home as I'm self isolating as high risk quality food fish is perfectly cooked lovely choice on menu high standard clean I'm do grateful for there fast delivery and professional service lucky to have them as my local fish and chip shop

Excellent small fish and chip restaurant, cater for vegetarians / varied options just ring them prior. the food is great quality and the chips are unlimited for larger appetites, we struggled to finish original servings.staff are wonderful and chef is outstanding truly..... A definite one to try for foodies :)

This was my first time using their delivery service and all went smoothly. Ordered at 4.10 pm and delivered around 4.30pm. The fish and chips were up to Miller’s usual high standard and delivered by smiley delivery boy on a bike. Thank you!

Well done Millers for protecting your staff when it mattered and being innovative, but safe with the delivery service recently. Our lovely fish supper was delivered by a very cheerful and polite girl going by the name of Flamingo! The meal was delivered quickly, was nice and hot and up to its usual standard. Always first class for Haddock, Cod, Plaice, or as Jon recommended Hake as this was their special on. The chip shops usually busy ( good sign ) but me and my family always eat it the restaurant and have always thoroughly e joyed the food and service. Highly recommend!

Very good fish and chips. Very modern with room to dine in the back. I don’t know how but I got lost on the system and waited over 40 minutes with nobody bothering to ask why I was still waiting. Even after asking twice I waited . For that reason probably will not bother again.

We are a Cornish mother and daughter, living in Scotland but visiting York! Read reviews and thought we will eat here on our last night. We stayed in Strensall so was nice and close. Sat in the restaurant and ordered two fish and chips and drinks. We travel a lot, all over the world and fish and chips are my favourite! The best I ever had was going back home, and had fish and chips on Newquay Beach which were extremely fantastic, and never thought anyone could beat this, until we visited Millers! The staff were great, but the meal was amazing! The fish was the BEST I have ever had, so beats the Newquay portion! To see some of the trivial reviews on here pisses me off because they complain after they have had the meal! If I could give 6 stars I would! Seriously reviewers, you got a problem, complain there! Not after!

I recently had a small Fish/Chips and Curry Sauce. What can I say... it was ALL truly AMAZING!! The fish was well cooked and the batter nice and crispy. Oh and the curry sauce was the BEST I've ever tasted. Well done Millers 😊👍

Do yourself a favor and go to Miller’s!!! My family was visiting our relatives in the UK, we went to York and found Miller’s. The story was that they had won an award for Britain’s Best Fish and Chips in 2018 (google it). We booked a reservation right from their website on OpenTable for the 7 of us, which included two children under 5 and a 10 year old. As soon as we arrived, we were shown to our seats, no waiting at all. The waiter was very friendly, the fish and chips were amazing, the best I’ve had. The breading was good and not heavy, it wasn’t to greasy either, just delicious. The mushy peas were also out of this world good. I had never heard of them before but the waiter suggested I try it. I’m glad he did, they were so good that we ordered another side of them because I didn’t want to share!!Granted I’m not British so by no means a fish and chips expert but our family from the UK agreed that this was proper fish and chips and the level they would compare all other fish and chips to. We had fish and chips one afternoon since and the comparisons came right out “nowhere near as good as Miller’s!”. We are all spoiled now. The takeaway counter was jam packed when we were leaving too.

Let me just say I never feel the need to write trip advisor reviews but after tonight I have turned a page. Sooo... where do I begin?! I decided to finally book a table at Millers in Haxby after following their success on social media and coming first in the national fish & chip awards. When I decided to book the table I saw that they were doing a pop up night, in which they offer special dishes using local ingredients and sustainable seafood. As a family booking we were not disappointed with any aspect, the food was cooked to perfection and the service was second to none - we will be back! Superb fish & chips along with fresh scallops to start and two lovely desserts. Well done guys. Top notch night!

First visit today to Millers Fish and Chips with my family. We travelled all the way from Cheshire and from the moment we stepped through the door, we felt very welcome. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic. We ate in the restaurant and we all enjoyed the food. The fish and chips were excellent and my boys particularly enjoyed the battered sausage. John, who served us couldn't do enough for us to make sure everything was great. A special thank you to Hope for showing us around the shop area and how things are prepared and cooked. Definitely worth a visit. 10/10.

great fish and chips and service shame though that the expensive price lets them down for the size of fish which other yor chippys do larger fish such as dhillons who do a large fish and chips with a free curry peas or gravy for 2 people 10 pound 50 p where as millers u pay about 13 pound plus for 2 not including curry gravy or peas and the fish is only small which is a shame as i cant fault the food , its just the price lets them down

Went to Millers on Saturday and brought some friends from outside of York service was on point as always I got ask if I wanted to try the hack I have a new favourite fish would highly recommend it. Cheers team Millers keep up the good work

Visited Millers on a busy Friday to collect an order placed online, they seemed very organised and got orders out in good time. Friendly staff and great food - what’s not to love? I can not recommend enough!

The best fish’n’chips in York, also do AMAZING haggis which I cannot recommend enough, and the different methods of ordering make it super easy, especially if we’re in a rush, or coming home from somewhere and don’t feel like waiting, even though service is super speedy

I’ve been eating at Miller’s for over 5 years now and I think it’s about time I left a review. I’ve eaten from their takeaway and also their restaurant and both parts of the shop are as awesome as the other! Perfectly cooked fish and chips everytime, and makes me feel better that its sustainably caught fish too! They’ve also started an online ordering system where I can set a pick up time and I can have it delivered if I wish!

Really lovely fish and chips. The batter was nice and crispy and wasn’t to heavy. Will be coming again soon!!

Travelled over from Scunthorpe on public transport to sample this restaurant after reading good reviews. It was excellent, the fish and chips were superb, the service was brilliant, we were on a tight schedule. Lovely waitress. Just a great experience, never been to Haxby before.

Found Millers while online looking for the best fish and chips in York. Turns out they are actually the best in the UK. Decided to eat in the restaurant, which we found to be clean and delightfully decorated. The menu has many options and best of all is that Millers fish is line caught MSC sustainable fish. The quality is truly amazing and morally it’s a winner to buy MSC. Served by perfectly by Jon who is a friendly, efficient gentlemen. Definitely gong to return next time I’m in York!

Called in at 17.30 tonight which should be a good time for hot good food,unfortunately soggy cool fish&chips; are not on the menu,a half portion of chips which was disgraceful we didn’t even get a eighth portion,curry source mushy peas cool,the hole order had to go in the microwave,very poor quality

First visit for a while and the first of 2020. Everything was perfect as always. Went for the famous haddock, chips and mushy peas, washed it down with a brew York pale ale, my daughter had scampi and loved every bite too. Top service from Jon as per usual. Used the Click and Collect option and my order was ready when I arrived. Ordered 2 regular haddocks with a large portion of chips and mushy peas. The size of the haddock seemed to be smaller than usual and I have to say the mushy pea portion is very small. Quality is always good though and the Click and Collect service negates having to queue.

Came here with my significant other and it was such a lovely dinner date. The fish was exceptional and fresh! The female Chef was so kind and her fish was the best! The service was great, Jon was attentive & had excellent customer service. 100% recommend to anyone traveling near the Yorkshire area!

This eaterie is the best for fish and chips around here. We visited again last week and the light bites we had were delicious, the staff in the restaurant are quick to serve you and with a smile, it is immaculately clean too. My husband said the curry sauce he had was delicious, we'll be back.

Nací en Haxby y no llego a casa tan a menudo como antes, pero una de mis primeras paradas es la pescadería, ya que no puedo encontrar otras decentes en el lado equivocado de los Peninos.

I went here with family. We sat in the restaurant to eat. The restaurant was very clean and tidy and the chap that served us was very friendly. Three of the group had failed and chips and we did have a child’s meal. The food arrive quite quickly and was piping hot. Good sized portions as well the food was very tasty. I do have to mention the toilet it was immaculate clean smelling fresh and well stocked. All in all this was a fabulous experience and I will be back when next in the area.

Fish and chips is a simple enough dish, but to get it to the level Millers attain is extremely hard. No wonder it won the National Title in 2018.

It's upgraded itself since I was last here. Seating and bookings for tables are now an added addition. The fish and chips are still as tasty as I remember years ago. Nice friendly pleasant staff to take your order. Clean looking. Recommend

Visited my home city this week and went to Millers for tea. Used it regularly when I lived in Haxby. The food was cooked to order, very hot and superb tasting.

We were greeted by Jonathan whose customer service was second to none, a very friendly guy. Our fish & chips were absolutely delicious. The decor to the restaurant was to a very high standard.

Best Chippy in York by far . used them many times. won’t go anywhere else now! keep up the great work!

Batter light as a feather, fish sweet, white and obviously fresh; proper chips, no grease. Combine this with helpful service from Jon and a good wine, what more could you want. The last fish meal we ate was in Cornwall at Rick Stein’s restaurant, good, but this was better and much more sensibly priced

What can I say? Except absolutely stunning food. The flavours are natural and traditional showing off the best of a staple for a Friday. Exceptionally good service and environmentally friendly presentation. I cannot recommend Millers highly enough. It is worth just making the trip to Haxby, on the outskirts of York, to give these guys a try. You will be amazed!

If you are looking for a standalone fish and chip restaurant and you are in this area I highly recommend Millers. Excellent food, good service and sensible prices.

I have eaten inside the restaurant and outside on a bench and the quality is still the same! The fish is thick white and fresh the batter is crispy and the chips are perfectly cooked! Service is good too, very friendly staff!

Visited the restaurant on a busy Friday (fish Friday) with my family and we all had a great experience. Millers fish and chips provides very high quality, sustainably caught fish from Norwegian waters. The batter on the fish is so tasty and the regular and jumbo haddock were pure white, and totally delicious. They have a good selection of locally brewed beers as well as a huge collection of soft drinks. The mushy peas are also to die for. Special thanks to Jon for serving us quickly and smoothly despite being very busy. Thanks Millers!

Just had a fantastic meal with family and friends at Millers. Jon served us and as always the food is amazing and the service is fast and friendly. Millers restaurant is my favourite place to eat out and we are becoming regulars here. Highly recommend!

Recently visited Millers with a couple of friends and I have to say not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the staff were fantastic too. The manager Jon was welcoming and friendly, he couldn’t do enough for us, he is an asset to the business. We will definitely be returning!

Went here with my husband and two young children for tea. I have ceoliac disease so I haven’t had fish and chips. This place was amazing I asked for gluten free cod and chips and was even given gluten free vinegar and scraps. The chef came out personally and handed me the food and was so friendly. He kept everything separate for me. The fish batter was amazing and I really enjoyed sitting outside and having my fish and chips. My husband and children really enjoyed the food and there was no waste. When we had finished the chef came out again and was friendly. Overall an amazing meal and excellent service I will definitely be back.

I was visiting my daughter and son I. Law and had to once again visit millers. Have eaten here previously both takeout and inside the restaurant. Food is fantastic and so good to be able to have a choice of 3 gluten free fish options

I woke up this morning and on my way to Yoga at 06:50 I wanted Millers Fish and chips for my tea.

Attended a family birthday party here last night and they coped wonderully with a larger party than anticipated. The service is outstanding and the food is delicious. Nothing was too much trouble, they organised the layout to cater for a wheelchair bound relative and ordered in special food to cater for anothers dietary needs.

At Millers the fish are cooked when you order. This means a little wait but it is well worth it. The service is great and you are always greeted with a smile. Always tasty, hot and great value. The best around.

Visited this award winning fish and chip shop twice during or recent visit to York. The first time was an evening earl in the week when it was very quiet. The second time was a busy Friday evening. On both occasions, the quality of the cod was fantastic. Don't worry if it's busy when you visit, the staff work like a well oiled machine and your order will appear in good time. An excellent chip shop that's worthy of its award winning status

We are regular visitors to Millers having holidayed in Yorkshire for a few years now as we find their food consistently of a high standard. This year was no exception - light bites are the perfect size and price and the haddock generally has nice crispy batter and the chips are of a good standard.

We visit Millers regularly these days and will continue to do so, each time trying something different. This time I had the plaice which is a stronger tasting fish and is thoroughly delicious. My daughter has moved on from the very generous kids meals to a light-bite haddock. We also tried a seafood-basket and some squid bites to share. As always served superbly by Jon and washed down with a local York brewed beer. Highly recommend Millers if your anywhere near York, or even if your not!

First went to Millers in Haxby, York, when it was featured on Chris Evans' morning Radio 2 show as having won the accolade of the Best Fish and Chip Shop in the UK - and we have been back a number of times, even though it's an hour's drive each way, and it has been consistently brilliant. Very friendly service, this time by Jon, though usually by Lesley, as part of their excellent team. Can one fish & chip shop be better than all the others in Britain? The answer is YES IT CAN - and it is!

We had a great meal and great service from Jon and all the staff, best fish and chips we have had, will defiantly visit again
