The Moorings Bistro has delivered high quality food for a long time. Because of Covid restrictions they have now adapted this quality to their 'Takeaway Service"Their chefs are highly skilled and produce 'cooked to order' high quality restaurant food in takeaway format. Just try it. It's amazing. We had their four meat couscous dish and slow cooked Belly Pork and both dishes were absolutely delicious. Such attention to detail with the accompaniments too.Well done Moorings. It's the 'quality' of what you deliver that makes your food outstanding.

We visited the Moorings for Sunday lunch. The food was exceptional. I had the chicken with cider gravy. This was organic chicken at its best, I have never tasted anything so delicious. All the accompaniments were lovely too.. The other three family members ordered the beef and were equally impressed. This restaurant should be awarded a Michelin star. Service was attentive and efficient. Complements to the chef and all staff who make this restaurant such a special place- thank you.

Sometimes the most enjoyable holiday experiences are unplanned. The Moorings is a perfect example from our recent holiday to north Wales. We spent a day exploring Porthmadog, and chose to walk a bit further to Borth-y-Gest. We happened across the Moorings. Luckily for us they were able to take us and, without having planned for it, we enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast (we both chose the lamb). Just a lovely combination - sitting outside in early October, enjoying a magnificent view of the bay as well as the food, with friendly service to boot. Also super to see several people (some of whom were clearly well known to the staff) popping by to collect take away meals.

We've been several times and have always had lovely meals with great service. This time it was take away (covid) and it was just as tasty. My fish and chips was first rate, as was the salmon my parents had (with a particularly tasty creamy tomato sauce) and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the Welsh beef casserole. Only downside was we were too full to fully appreciate the delicious puds!

They were only offering takeaways because of COVID so we had the club sandwich, beef with onions and a beef burrito. The club sandwich was really good and the bread was very soft. I will start by saying, that we went to the Bistro in times of the virus situation, so things are not normal. I book the restaurant about one week before we went, and was asked to choose from the menu online and ring back with our request for food, which we did. However, when we arrived at the bistro and confirmed our names, we were asked, " will you be warm enough in your t shirt, because eating is outside ". We looked at the other diners, and sure enough, they were all wrapped up to the nines for eating outside, and with a very cold wind being blown off the harbour directly into the bistro, you could see why !. The lady said, were you not told to wrap up warm , to which i replied, that i had rung the bistro twice and on no occasion were we told to wear extra clothing, however the lady saved the day, when they made us a takeaway of the food we had ordered, and took it back to our hotel.I had the spicy lamb tagine and my wife had the savoury pancake. Both meals were excellent, but i doubt very much i would have enjoyed the meal, sitting outside, in a force 4 gale, where the food would have been stone cold in a jiffy !.

At 4.35 after the ladies had finished their chat, we got to the counter only to be told they wouldn't serve us as we were past 4.30, and should have been there a few minutes earlier. You know sometimes you get one of those golden moments when the planets are aligned, well today was one of those. On a sunny but cold day in Caernarfon, after walking up and down the castle turrets some nourishment was required. Not many restaurants in the area and with no booking things weren’t looking good but a chance call to the Moorings Bistro and after a little deliberation at the other end they were kind enough to offer us a table at the end of the lunchtime sitting. We arrived to be greeted by a beautiful little cove basked in sunlight which the bistro overlooked. Things were looking up, even the car park was free! Inside was a warm greeting in a cosy room with views to kill for. Fantastic service with great rapport topped by some excellently cooked food with delicious desserts made a chance encounter a day to remember. Thank you for a great meal, in a great location served up by great staff and an excellent chef. This one is in our book for the next time we are in the area. Between us, we ordered 2 beef dinners, one fish dish and one vegetarian, so we had the full range of experiences. One of us ordered a fish chowder starter and I had a profiterole dessert. The beef was exceptional and the vegetables and potatoes were lovely. It is a large plate of food. The chowder looked good. The vegetarian and the fish dish were both enjoyed too. The profiteroles were served with an ice-cream of choice and flaked almonds. Couldn't have asked for a better dessert and it was huge! Great value.

First and most important thing to tell you is make a reservation otherwise you maybe disappointed. Were were on a weekend break in Porthmadog and used TripAdvisor to find the best places to eat. The Moorings scored very high. I took previous advice and called to book a table and had to be flexible as they had only a few time slots available. The bistro is located on the sea front of a small bay outside Porthmadog with a splendid sea view. It’s not a big property hence the need to reserve. The staff were friendly and helpful in offering suggestions from the menu and specials board. My wife had Baked Cod, which was beautifully presented and delicious. When we arrived the staff were very pleasant but very slow in taking a drinks order, and even slower taking a food order, I had to ask the waitress to come and take our order 25 mins had passed and I started to become aware of the time limitation. Our mains arrived after 40 mins after ordering but were well worth the wait, good quality food and plentiful. A shame I didn't feel comfortable enough to order desserts given the time limitation and slowness of service. We have lost count of the number of times we have dined at this restaurant. And the reason we keep coming back?? We enjoy the service and the selection on the menu. Sunshine is especially beautiful relaxing with a glass of whatever you prefer. Recommended thanks folks Xiexie.. Gordon Sissi

Everything was superb. Homemade lamb burger with sweet potato fries, seafood platter and 2 children's Bolognese all were delicious. For dessert, caramel shortbread, strawberry sundae and the best crème brulé that I have ever had! Cannot recommend this place highly enough. If wanting to eat in the evening, I'd recommend booking because listening to the telephone conversations whilst waiting for our meals, the bistro is always fully booked.

We visited "The Moorings" on Saturday evening on the 23 March 19. We had booked the last table for 4, in January 19, so be aware that it is very popular!! We were staying for the weekend in a gorgeous cottage nearby. We had starters and mains which were all lovely. I had the tagine and my husband had the sea bream. All meals were beautifully presented and delicious. The staff were lovey, very attentive and left a good gap in between serving each course. The ambiance was just right.. casual dining with style. Couldn't fault it!!.

I visit The Moorings as often as i can as I love coming here but I must say this Sunday they excelled themselves. I’d not had Sunday lunch here before so this was the first time. It was the best Sunday lunch I have had in a long time, everything was done to perfection. The roast beef was tender and plenty of it, vegetable just right. Lovely Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Very friendly atmosphere and good wine. I’m back on Thursday night and I can’t wait. Honestly don’t miss this place if you are visiting Porthmadog for either breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Came here for Valentine's night whilst up here for a few days on holiday. Food was fantastic, great choice of wines, service fantastic, setting lovely, slightly on the expensive side but good value, very friendly and helpful staff. Would come back if in the area again. Walkable from the town but we took a taxi as we were running late.

Great food and great service - what more do you want? If it's nice out, they have a terrace with views of the sea and mountains. Inside is cosy and welcoming. We've had drinks, we've had breakfast, lunch and dinner - each and every time the food has been really really high quality. Good menu with interesting daily specials. It's the first place we book when planning to visit.

We always have a meal at The Moorings when we visit Birth y Gest, it's an absolute gem with such a picturesque view over the bay. Seriously delicious food, such a sweet cosy restaurant with a very personal feel to it. It's not cheap but its top notch taste. Evening meals are super, and can thoroughly recommend Sunday roast too. Well worth a visit but be sure to book ahead!

We had a lovely evening at this small family run bistro. The staff can't do enough for you and the food was fantastic. We had seafood chowder and crab linguine as starters followed by perfectly cooked duck and fillet steak. We didn't need sweets but couldn't resist. I would think it would get very busy in the summer months so I would book to avoid disappointment. They are open for lunches too and there's seating outside to enjoy the view of the bay, if weather permits. A very friendly bistro not to be missed, we would love to return if we are ever in the area again.

As a bad meal at this wonderful restaurant. Book because otherwise, in the evening, you're unlikely to get in. Just wonderful in every way. Location, food, welcome and ambiance.

Pathetic! This is the second time I’ve been turned away this year. Driven 20 miles for lunch. Turned up early. Sorry we have stopped serving as we have lots of prep to do for tonight. Bunch of amateurs. I suggest you ring ahead and book it make certain they are serving. Another group were turned away too. It was 142pm. Pathetic.

The food is excellent, Very good quality and great value. The lady who owns it is always bubbly and on hand and Greats you with a smile as do all the staff. The view is lovely over the bay looking out to the estuary! It is dog friendly and cosy. One thing I would state is if you’re on the tables outside and someone visits with a big dog can be a little tight, but I would eat there again many times and highly recommend.
