Service none existent, curry mediocre. Chapati old, hard and cold, garlic naan not fresh and cold, garlic butter spread over naan was solid. Curry was very similar tasting when you got one that wasn't burned! 4 sfaff members stood chatting , no one asked if meal was ok or we needed another drink, surrounded with empty dishes. When I finally collered the chap in charge he was very apologetic and took the Substandard items off the bill and drinks which was kind of him... Still added a service charge of nearly £10! Will never go here again or recommend . Place was charming and had a lovely view, was clean but a little tired. Desperately needs staff training!!

Going here for lunch with the family was a last minute decision. We googled Indian Restaurants and Mother India's Cafe popped up and we decided to try it out. We got there around 1 pm. The place was fairly busy but we managed to get a table in a couple of minutes. Staff showed us to the table with proper courtesy. Menu isn't extensive and seems to be aimed at the target audience of local (UK) and international tourists. However we were able to find something interesting for us. They also have an amazing kids menu which we used for the boys. Food: Arrived exactly at 10 min mark (my son was marking time). Ot was well presented and was of good quality. We requested mild food and it was exactly that - mild but tasty. Portion sizes aren't large and some might find them smaller, compared to other Indian restaurants. Service: Quick service. Although the waiter seemed to be in a grumpy mood. When we were almost finished with the meal, he abruptly questioned: "finished?", in a not very friendly tone. Perhaps he was having a bad day - not a biggie. Other staff members were pleasant and friendly. Overall, a descent restaurant at a great location. Good for families, groups and couples.

The amount of food provided was insufficient; the £8 biryani resembled tomato rice in taste, prompting the suggestion that it should have been labeled as such to avoid misleading customers. Moreover, discussing the portion size, it amounted to merely half a bowl of rice.

I don't normally review restaurants but I am making a exception for this one. We where in Glasgow for our daughters graduation and after checking on line we found the mother India cafe. We got there quite late and the staff where very pleasant and accommodating. We had the chicken packoras to start and keema rice, butter chicken, chicken dansak (specially made for me as it was not on the menu, thanks chef). Now I know some people had said that the portion sizes are smaller but we were stuffed after the meal. The meal was good value for money, £55 for two and that included a £26 bottle of wine. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. I thought I would point out that the mother India cafe is the restaurant we went to not the mother India restaurant which is next door (very confusing) and apparently a completely different business. Thank you again for the wonderful meal and a big thanks to the beautiful Indian waitress that served us who was extremely helpful. Best wishes for the new year I'm sure you will be very busy. John k

Literally the best Indian cuisine we have eaten. Portions look smaller but are actually perfect size as they are very rich and full of well-balanced, vibrant flavour and colour. I have marked 5 stars for service and atmosphere but I didn't actually dine in the restaurant we had a home delivery and I didn't want to negatively mark on these aspects. We usually order and collect from our local Indian but as it doesn't deliver and we were unable to collect we thought we'd give somewhere else a try. After hearing various people chat about mother India we decided we would get a home delivery from here. Despite being the other end of town it didn't take long to arrive and the food was still warm hence the two stars. The naan bread was the poorest I'd ever seen it was basically an enlarged chapati with some garlic slopped ontop. When we order a naan elsewhere it is large and doughy. We also ordered a chasni which, usually is bright red, I appreciate different places make it differently however this was a mild yellow colour and tasted the exact same as my boyfriends dish that he'd ordered. Could have sworn it was the same meal in 2 different boxes.

Food was fantastic; chicken tikka makhni and the lemon and cashew rice especially. Staff were very helpful: we had booked the wrong venue and they happily rearranged our booking and seated us right away. They also altered one of our dishes when it was a little spicy. The Gulab jamin and ice cream Desserts were amazing, really nice to get a range of flavours to choose from too. Weren’t waiting long for courses either. Will definitely return.

My husband loves Indian food, so we ate here our first night. For me, Indian food is just OK, but this place was so good that we made reservations for the Edinburgh location (which was good but not as good as the Glasgow one). The butter chicken is outstanding!! They also have the best naan I have ever had. Everything we ate was wonderful. It was a very small, tight restaurant that does not take reservations, so make sure you plan your time. A wait is definitely worth it though!

My wife and I visited tonight and had a dreadful experience. We were seated at a small table for two with restricted space. We had been seated at the same table last week and I was discomforted while dining, as I am disabled, so my wife asked to be moved to another table today. This was accommodated, then a female server approached our table and said in an abrupt manner and loud voice that we had taken her last table for 4. We didn’t take any table, we were seated by her colleague. My wife pointed out that I am disabled and needed some extra space, when the waitress said that the table was good enough for us last week and my wife was just using my disability as an excuse to get a different table. Customer-centric? No!, Disabled-centric? No! Her response was both crass and insensitive. I think that every diner stopped eating to watch and listen to her loud comments. My wife and I were left extremely embarrassed and distressed, and simply left the restaurant. If this behaviour is representative of the restaurant or staff, then, no thank you, we won’t return.

After struggling to book anywhere on a Friday night in Finnieston, we chose to come here as it was walk-in's only, and we thought we might get lucky. Turns out we did - arrived just as two tables were settling their bills so only a 5 minute wait for a table. Quickly supplied with drinks, and order taken. 2 starters, Garlic Mushroom Dhosa and Fish Pakora. Nice flavours, but Pakora contained a lot of bones, which put us off a bit. We got 4 tapas syle dishes for mains, highlights of which were the Ginger Chicken, off the Specials board, and the Butter Chicken. Rice was good, and we ended up ordering a Naan as we had quite a bit of sauce left which was too good to waste. Nice atmosphere, good food and service, and, being here to see Black Keys at the OVO next night, bonus to see that their touring band were in enjoying the food as well.

tl;dr: avoid this establishment. I am sure I am going against many others, based on the reviews I have read for this place. Nonetheless, this has to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. I was travelling alone and spending a weekend in Glasgow. Consistently, one of the greatest highlights whenever I get to come to the UK is the Indian food. It is the only country on earth that I have found whose Indian food is comparable to what can be found in India. Additionally, it has been guaranteed to be satisfying, until now. I had been walking for a while through the city enjoying sites and was examining a menu in the window of a different establishment. While reading, someone came up to me and asked if I was looking for really good Indian food. Indeed I was and they directed me to this place, which was only a block away. I was excited at the thought of a great meal at the end of a long day. I arrived and the manager, who was extremely polite, told me there was a 10 minute wait, the place was rather busy and getting busier. I was more than happy to do so. When seated, I ordered the saag paneer (extra spicy), a mushroom dish (extra spicy), and a glass of water (the first two can be seen in the picture). My server confirmed my spice tolerance and left with my order, this was the last I saw of her. The food arrived in a timely manner, brought out by a porter from the kitchen who seemed surprised that I did not have a plate yet. Thankfully, the plate was quickly fetched. They say the first bite is with the eye, and it was a good bite indeed. Unfortunately, it was the only good bite I had. The food was medium spicy at best and very lacking in any other flavour. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that mushrooms with barely any taste of umami are unacceptable. The saag paneer was something a street vendor I knew in Delhi would be ashamed to serve. Nobody came of their own volition to ask me how my food was. About 10 minutes after I took two bites and gave up, I was able to flag down the manager. I explained the situation as I have just done in this review. To his credit, he offered to try to fix the situation and said that this was most certainly not the experience I should have had. Unfortunately, between the abysmal attention by my server and the lackluster performance by the chef, I had no confidence in this establishment's ability to salvage the situation. I declined to take him up on his offer and left. As a solo traveler, I have experienced prejudice by restaurants serving a table for one. I do not know if this was the case in this instance. However, the other patrons around me seem to be getting much more frequent visits from their servers, none of whom were dining alone. I would suggest anyone considering giving this restaurant their patronage to only do so if your alternative is starvation. Just be careful, you may succumb to thirst. The water never arrived.

Ambiance is good but the staff does discrimination if you're an Indian. One of the worst service I've got in any place in the city. They were rushing to get us out, didn't even wait for us to finish the food before getting the swipe machine. Also, we noticed that they were serving complimentary papads to non Indians but didn't serve us. Would not recommend for food also - bland for indian standards. The Dosa was tasty, but rather small and bizarrely soft, not crisp as it should be.

用餐环境比较干净,服务员很耐心,饭菜味道总体不错,各种咖喱,还有nan(大饼)。唯一的不足是摩卡不太好喝,店员对拉花一窍不通。

Just received an Uber order from here. Tikka masala is not like any other I’ve ever seen or tasted. Pale big chunks of chicken in a really spicy yellowish sauce. Accompanied by a flaky naan bread. Not particularly good and I’d never order again. Sub-standard I’m afraid.

Loved it. Live in India 5 months a year and enjoyed every morsel of food we had. Great staff also. We'll be back.

Lovely meal. Tapas sized portions though the Garlic and Ginger Lamb, as well as being outstanding, could easily have passed for a full portion elsewhere. We had 6 dishes and a nan between us. Each dish was superb. A menu with plenty of choice with vegan and vegetarian sections and lovely staff. Unhurried and relaxed. Will be back soon.

Recommended by a friend, I took my wife to Mother India for her birthday. Food was excellent and very fresh, staff friendly and welcoming. Overall cost very reasonable. My only criticism was the food was mostly served in what I would describe as breakfast bowls, kind of underwhelming compared to other Indian restaurants. Easy fix. Still would recommend and return

I'm not one to write reviews but after our meal tonight I just had to share how amazing our meal was. Garlic chilli chicken was a first for us and may now just be our favorite!!!! It was absolutely divine and full of chicken. Chicken pakora is the best I have had ever actually! Garlic Naan was just perfect too.

Not what I expected at all. The chicken was dry, the sauce was far too salty and wasn't too far from tasting like a ready meal. The naan bread was very thin and tasteless. More of a chapati without the good taste. I dont like leaving bad reviews and I'm not doing this for no good reason, just being honest about how I felt about the meal. I needed a good tasty curry after a long week and this just made me feel worse. I expected a lot better for somewhere with such a great reputation. I don't think I will be ordering from here again.

We had a fantastic meal here. They’ve spread the tables out and followed all Covid precautions. The food was delicious as ever and the service was excellent. Tandoori salmon and the aubergine dish were the highlights.

Food was outstanding, as was the service! Especially as they phoned me up two hours after we had left to tell me I had left my purse in the restaurant (whoops) which was retuned to me, cant thank them enough! We will definitely be back.

This was an absolutely excellent experience with helpful and attentive service, good value and interesting dishes and careful social distancing and sanitary measures in place. The small plates idea worked well. I wish there was a place like this closer to me.

In these crazy covid times I make sure I stick to places I know and trust and am so glad I did. They have a reduced menu and a few less tables but the food is still top notch with service to match. It’s clear these people care about yours and there safety as well as providing quality food. Even my fellow diners impressed me with their attention to hygiene. You can now book a table so do yourself a flavour, go and enjoy some great food.

My friends and I were visiting Glasgow for the day so fell short of booking in for dinner somewhere. We stumbled upon this place when on the verge of getting hangry and thank god we did.The food was absolutely excellent, the flavours were authentic not just catering for milder palates (which I always appreciate). We had a selection of lamb and chicken dishes and both were excellent, the meat was tender and flavourful and the naans were light and fluffy. On top of that, the prices are great and the staff were lovely. If you’re craving Indian food when in Glasgow, you must visit here!
