Mowgli's in Cardiff

The service was amazing, the staff really took care of us and made us feel special. The food was incredible, one of the best Indians I’ve ever had. We will be going back regularly!

Recommended by a colleague. Have it a go. Fantastic curry. Great value as well. I collected a take away. As a result I’ll be looking forward to a sit down soon.

This was our first post-lockdown meal out and we had a lovely time. I think I am a connoisseur of vegetable korma (yes I know, boring for some, I just love it!) and this one was the best I've ever had. Lovely staff, so friendly and we felt really welcome. I look forward to my next visit!

Mowgli's on Crwys Road is the only place I will go for a curry. The food is outstanding and the staff are just brilliant. During lockdown I have had a mix of deliveries and have visited the restaurant to collect meals. They have all been outstanding, but I can't wait to have a sit down meal as it is always a first class experience.

My absolute favourite have tried other places but there is no comparison, Mowglis is my favourite monthly treat not artificially coloured and tastes amazing every time I order much loved by me and my housemates. Highly recommend, especially the onion bhajis they are amazing!

Ordered a take out from mowgli whitchurch. Lamb shank,no shank just four cubes of lamb. Advertised accompanied by potatoes,two cubes of new potatoes. £14.00not well spent.

We always use Mowgli's as our favourite Indian restaurant and recommended it to all our family and friends but tonight unfortunately we had a very poor meal.We had ordered a family meal for our daughters birthday and we were very disappointed. The food was very cold, watery and bland. The keema naan bread was actually empty. It was also more expensive than usual too. Not the usual standard at all and after tonight's meal we will not be returning.

Absolutely disgraceful ...orfered at 1815 ....told 1930 for delivery 2015 and 25 phone calls still no food no answer no response .....No food ..... if turns up now then its turned away ....should teach you valuable lesson on messing up peoples plans especialy when it was lot of food for lot of people .....Your loss

Absolutely Amazing place, the inside décor just stunning and I think the best meal I have ever eaten. Beautiful Indian street food, feels so authentic and reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. Sat on a swing under the fairy lights was a perfect evening. we were served by a lovely young man very attentive. 10/10 from me!

I usually love Mowglis, and have recommended them on many occasions to family and friends and I have even put a good review on Trip Advisor previously. However, that being said after yesterday please don’t bother with Delivery Service whether direct with the restaurant or through Just Eat etc. Our delivery was over 1 hour 20minutes late from our initial allocated delivery time. When I called the restaurant and eventually got through, the man I spoke to was rude and non apologetic.When you have young children you don’t really want them eating late at night!It is such a shame as I have always loved the quality of the food and the restaurant. But this one bad experience has definitely put me off and I won’t be recommending again !

We were on our way home from a day out last Friday, and we were driving down Whitchurch Road and Crwys Road. We saw a few food outlets and as we were hungry we stopped. Mowgli’s was busy when nearly every other place was either empty or poorly attended. We were lucky enough to get a table. We should have prebooked. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. We ate popadums and mixed pickles when perusing the menu. Lovely choice. We shared a mixed kebab as a starter and we can honestly say that we enjoyed every bite.For the main course my wife had a king prawn curry and rice, and I had a king prawn pathia. We ate every last grain of rice and every drop of sauce.We shared a bottle of Shiraz too. The total bill was £56. We were both very impressed and we will go back soon. Thank you for your service.

I first visited Mowgli’s when I moved to Cardiff 7 years ago. I thought that it was the best Indian restaurant around then and it still remains the best now. The food is ALWAYS delicious! My favourite is the dhansak which is so tasty and the peshwarni naan bread is amazing. I’ve taken friends and family there over the years and they all comment on how tasty the food is. Also, the staff are great! We have become familiar with them and they always give us a lovely welcome. Thank you Mowglis!! I have recently moved to Dublin and I’m already looking forward to visiting Cardiff for my favourite food!

This has been by far our favourite Indian restaurant for many years, the food is always excellent and waiters are very attentive and friendly. It was my first visit back since the lockdown and they have adapted to the pandemic brilliantly with enforced social distancing, masks where it is not possible, waiters wearing masks at all times, hand gel etc.

A strange time for everybody but I felt compelled to review our evening here on Saturday night. Felt safe, welcome, warm, and really friendly staff accompanied by one of the best Indian dishes I have ever had....Just a note to all to say thanks!

After waiting some time to visit we were finally able to do so and were not disappointed. The chicken wrap was amazing, one of the best lunches I have had all year. The chicken curry was good but not as great as the wrap. Our waitress was extremely professional and helpful, however she did forget to provide one of our drinks.A helpful tip, one item would have been more than enough per person for lunch but we were recommended to have two or three which was a mountain of food!

It’s a shame that I have to say this. I have in the past had positive experiences at mowglis. However I took my son, my partner and her son for a meal for her birthday. We were seated in the front corner by the entrance, which felt close to anyone entering. Apart from when the food arrived we did not see any waiter despite trying to order more drinks. Nobody came to ask how our food was and we were pretty much unwelcome. After we finished main course I proposed to my partner (she said yes, thankfully). No waiter staff noticed so nothing was said to us. This left me feeling rather underwhelmed. After a long while we ended up having to shout over to a waiter for the bill, which didn’t come with the usual chocolates. The waiter joked and they had not ordered any. I asked about maybe a coffee but he said it would take too long to make. Whilst glad that the occasion was a success however bitter sweet as the price of the food means that the service should’ve been much much more satisfactory. We were shoved in the corner and forgotten about.

The food was absolutely delicious and with the tables spaced out we all felt at ease, safe and comfortable. The service we received was great and the staff were very friendly.

Four of our party of eight fell extremely ill after eating at this restaurant. Three of which had the House Special Biryani. There was some sort of fish within this dish, which we questions to what it was; the answer being “king prawn”. I have never in my long life seen a king prawn look like that. It was definitely not a prawn, it was grim, and left us feeling extremely unwell. Will not be returning to this place, no curry should leave four people feeling violently ill.

I come to Mowglis fairly frequently (it’s our Indian takeaway of choice). It can get quite busy, but with good reason. The food is sublime and the service is polite and attentive. Especially now during the pandemic, eating out is an even more special occasion, however we felt very safe with the tables more spaced out, anti-bacterial gel available as well as temperature checks as we came through the door. Tonight the food was typically brilliant and as much as I stuffed myself I still didn’t quite manage to finish it all! MOverall - it’s a safe bet. It’s all your favourite classic dishes done to a high standard.

Just finished a delightful 4 choice curry with all the trimming and the results speak for themselves. Five empty plates and plenty of leftovers to go round. Easily the best Curry in Cardiff.If curry houses judged their prowess and superiority by Bahjis balls, Mowglis has the biggiest let me tell you, and there delicious, oohhh they are the biggest baddest bahjis balls you ever did see! Enjoy.

I'm going to put some of this down to the coronavirus but I still feel restaurants should be better equipped.Drinks ordered fairly promptly. Had to wait 40mins to actually order any food. Which then subsequently took another half hour to come.The staff were okay, I've been to many many Indian restaurants and just didn't get that friendly vibe here.The phone was constantly ringing and they seemed to prioritise takeaways more than the customers in the building. That phone was on full volume practically ringing through the whole restaurant. I felt for the couple who were sat right beside it!The food was not bad. I'd give it a 7/10. Portions were good. Things were a little sweet for my liking.HOWEVER, I asked the waiter to make a couple dishes a little hotter. Being Asian I like a little extra spice and usually ask for the "deso-style" with a few more chilli's. His response was "the curry's come how they come". Quite frankly I thought this was poor. For a "award-winning" restaurant, I was left wondering what all the fuss was really about :/...

Just had a lovely meal at Mowglis and felt very safe and comfortable. The tables were nicely spaced out (much more so than other places I have been to in the last couple of weeks) and they offered the same standard of friendly service and delicious food as always. This restaurant is a firm favourite of mine in Cardiff and it was even better on a hot day like today because the air con was amazing!!!! The food is very reasonably priced and they also do eat out to help out.

Celebrating a Golden Wedding Anniversary with Family, originally going to dine inside in a different restaurant. Owing to Covid decided to dine outside in family garden.There was nine of us, and we placed an order with Mowgli's ,which came highly recommended. My son collected order ,which was on time and beautifully prepared.Everyone agreed that is was the best Indian meal they had ever eaten, Thank you Mowgli's ,you did us proud !

We had a take away from Mowgli’s last night and it was excellent, far better than the other Indian restaurant we had been using. The onion bhajis were fabulous, really crisp and not too spicy. I then had a korma as I don’t like my curry ‘hot’ and thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband opted for a chicken pathia and also really enjoyed it. Portions were generous and we’ve just had the left overs for tea tonight.

We ordered online. The food arrived within five minutes of the suggested time. We had poppadoms with mixes chutneys. The lime pickle was very nice, mango chutney was mango chutney. The raita and pink dips were far too sweet in my opinion. The tandoori kebab chicken starter was rather dry, the lamb okay but not memorable. The beef shatkora was rather tough and dry, the sauce unexciting. The garlic chicken was nice. The lamb Hyderabad special was spoiled for me as the baby potatoes seemed to have been tinned which spoils the flavour. All three mains had an excessive amount of oil floating on them. The naa wasn't great, possibly as it was in a foil envelope to keep it warm. Overall okay but I was expecting better.

We ordered a delivery for two from Mowglis in Cardiff - our first time trying them.The meal was slightly expensive for a delivery for two, but not outrageous. It was estimated to arrive in approximately one hour. After well over 1hr 40mins, we telephoned. We were greeted with indignant staff who were unwilling to say anything other than "We hope it will be there within fifteen minutes, we are busy." - no offer to try to make contact with the driver, or otherwise help or apologise.Whilst we understand being busy on a Friday night, it is unacceptable to fail to understand a customer being upset with a delivery being nearly an hour late, and to fail to offer to help or an apology.Poor service, and we won't be ordering again. Disappointing.

I made a complaint to Zaman about a poor take away from Whitchurch Mowglis. He gave me Credit towards a meal at Crwys Rd. Much better food there. I will return to this restaurant.

Ordered from here to be told it would be 45 to 50 minutes. Only for the food to materialise 2 hours later. After ringing them they were very rude. Then when it arrived not everything that was ordered was there and we were told they would not send any more food out, no refund because they were busy.Shame because we loved going to mowglis but won't be visiting again anytime soon after this experience.

After reading so many good reviews I thought I’d have a change and try here. Food was ready when I arrived which was good. Unfortunately it wasn’t great at all. The chicken was completely dry & chewy and sauce very sweet. The onion bhajees weren’t like any I’d tasted before - not nice & I had to throw them away. The rice was fine. The peshwari naan was incredibly plain. Overall, disappointing and I won’t return

I’m a frequent customer of Mowglis and I’m not lying when I say it is the best Curry in Cardiff! I’m born and bread from Cardiff and have tried several Indians and nowhere comes close! Always fresh, good portion size and delicious. The staff are so friendly. I don’t understand how people can leave bad reviews? Never have had a bad experience in this place and they always go above and beyond for their customers. They were even giving out glass bottles of soft drinks to their customers to show their appreciation for our custom. People support this business guys!

We ordered a variety of starters and a prawn main course, chicken main course, lamb main course and a owner main course. The onion Bhaji which haS had good reviews from here was ok at best. All the main courses tasted the same with extra chilli in the jalfrezi. Apart from that they were so sweet. We’ve put it in the fridge for tomorrow but don’t think we’ll be eating it even if we are starving. We are local to Whitchurch but definitely won’t be visiting this place again.

Ordered a takeaway yesterday for 4 adults. Total cost £70.No salad with starters x 4. and nothing to put on pompadoms.Main course was very poor.Chicken tikka bhuna x2 pasanda and vindaloo all were very poor.I was always under the impression that Chicken Tikka was marinated and cooked in a clay oven. Not here , it was given a yellow coating of something awful.The meat was not fresh. Reading some of the reviews we thought that we were going to have a great meal. Will not be back,terrible food.

My lamb tikka masala was 5/5 will be having this again!! The onion baji was the only let down was quite soggy ..

We had our first take away from Mowgli in Crwys Road yesterday eve.We had king prawn buna and a lamb vindaloo. We had ordered the day before and on the day were able to add to the order which was delivered to ourselves and the other half of the order of chicken amm and lamb madras was delivered with starters and sides to our friends at a different address. The food was delicious, and the persons taking and amending the order were very helpful and the delivery man was pleasant, polite and punctual. We eat a lot of indian food and this was by far the best take away we have had. Thank you

HIGH quality, fast service, brilliant as always!! We usually come here to sit in for an evening however due to COVID-19 we had a takeaway instead. I was so pleased to see that this place was open as it was exactly what I was craving. We travel all the way from Caerphilly for this Indian as it’s an all time favourite. At 5.30pm we ordered...1 x lamb masala 1 x king prawn masala 2 x chicken tikka masala1 x chicken kohlapuri1 x Ducksheri special3 x peshwari naan3 x pilau rice 3 x chips 8 x poppadoms 3 x onion bhajeeChutney tray. We were worried that there would be a delay due to ordering late however it was ready in 30 minutes!!! They also chucked in two large bottles of beer. The food was incredibly tasty, the king prawns were as large as they should be and the lamb fell apart when you cut into it, the onion bhajee’s are massive and beautifully crispy. Chips were still piping hot when we arrived home. Everything about this place is exceptional and look forward to sitting in & enjoying a good meal here when lockdown is over. Thank you very much! Well I have eat at this place before and always good. I would suggest giving up doing takeaways as based on what I had last night it was poor. Stick to what you know best and not cashing in on this lockdown as it will ruin your reputation. Delivery was good and prompt for a Saturday evening. That’s the only good side. Curry was poor basically a sauce, soup with hard pieces of over cooked or old chicken. Keema Nama were good but the curry is the main highlight Normally but POOR this time. Will look back at old faithful establishments I think. Oh it was overpriced too.

ordered a delivery from here yesterday and wow absolutely gorgeous food. The delivery driver was extremely professional during these times. Believe his name was mike! Would definitely recommend.

Really disappointed with the service this weekend. I pre-ordered a takeaway at 2.30pm to be delivered at 7.30pm. When this hadn’t arrived at 7.45pm I contacted the restaurant to see how long the food would be to be told it was on its way. By 8.20pm the food hadn’t arrived (it obviously wasn’t ‘on its way’ as previously stated) I was then told ‘sorry we’ve been slammed in the kitchen....it’ll be at least another 20minutes’. I cancelled the ordered. There is a very big difference between eating at 7.30pm or 8.45pm at night, particularly when you have a diabetic family member waiting upon the food.

Extremely uneatable worst experience ever. My husband asked them to make indian punjabi style spicy paneer makhani he refused saying that we cannot make that spicy and recommended to take paneer tikka masala saying he can make that spicy and Indian punjabi style but when we had that it was unbearable sweet and horribly worst in taste. We couldn’t eat after a single bite. For which when we spoke to the manager he started speaking rudely and saying he cannot do anything and we asked him to return this dish and refund the money but he straight way refused and started speaking badly and misbehaving with us. We recommend don’t trust their words. The food is totally rubbish. Bad management, terrible customer service and worst standard.

Visiting from Canada, we took my (Welsh) Uncle out for a local Indian meal. Of course he knew where the best Indian fare was - hence how we landed at Mowgli's. We had 4 in our party and we each ordered different dishes - 2 Biryani dishes, a Masala and a Monkfish. The meals were all very fresh & fragrant and the taste was delightful. The service was over the top and the price at the end was surprisingly inexpensive. I can certainly see why my Uncle likes to dine there as often as he can. We'll certainly return to Mowgli's when we're back in Cardiff. We did take a family photo at the end of the meal but sadly none of the meals themselves - although any amateur photo wouldn't do these meals justice.

Went here sat me and my partner lovely clean and great atmosphere. Ordered 2 starters they were lovely then mains came out well I had mother butter chicken very poor mostly juice with about 4 pieces of chicken, had 2 roti breads with it, basmati rice and my partner had paneer dish said it was nice but very expensive for what u get,
