We last ate at Paysanne six years' ago, thus we were undoubtedly due a return visit. Pros Notably friendly and welcoming. Cai Ross (proprietor) is a legend and adds to the evening. Very good service, including some good recommendations. We had an excellent table (first right as you enter the dining room). The food is appropriately priced and good value for money. A nice, atmosphere with an air of faded gentility. Cons Very much an ageing clientele. Limited choice for vegetarians (but the dishes on offer are of good quality). My poire pochee dessert was disappointing. This is not a pretentious French restaurant; it's as close as you'll get to a French restaurant in Wales. It is definitely worth a visit if you like traditional dishes, with an emphasis on sauces.

Great Sunday lunch. £25 for 2 courses and a few pounds more £28.50 for 3 . Usual menu . Really enjoyed our visit . Clientele today mostly over 70 I’d say but a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. A little formal . Lots of authentic choices - I opted for the soup then the vegetarian . My dad worked his way through 3 courses , a Pernod and rose with his duck . Will definitely go back. Shame I was driving !

We must have gone on a bad night! The prawns were overcooked and were in a very bland sauce. We didn't taste any garlic in it. The ('legendary'!) fish soup had no chunks of fish in it, only very small pieces. My John Dory was tiny and despite being small and thin was partly raw and I had to send it back. There wasn't a noticeable amount of lemon, butter and parsley sauce with it either. I didn't bother with a replacement (10-15 minute wait I was told) and instead had some of my wife's salmon which was exactly as described on the menu, large and very nice. (The John Dory was taken off the bill.) The dauphinoise was partly burnt and served in a dish with burnt food all over the sides which made it look like it had never been washed properly. We were very disappointed after seeing the good reviews.

Smashing ambience, lovely service, top class, authentic food, notably bouillabaisse style soup, and perfectly cooked fish with a choice of sauces. The owner/ Maitre d' could not be more charming. The prices are fair- about £130 for three courses, 2 kirs, and a delicious bottle of St. Nicolas de Bourgeuil. (Tip- light Loire reds age well and go with anything- you're welcome). Hugely recommended. If you are mean and/ or a recovering alcoholic, you can eat well for about £30 a head for three courses. This was our second visit in about three weeks. It really is a must visit location.

We had an amazing meal having been fortunate to secure a booking earlier that same evening. Lovely dining area, particularly for couples, with low-level background music which enhances the ambience. Excellent service, with great menu recommendations and attention to allergy requirements. We opted for the escargot and French onion soup, which were both delicious followed by different ‘fish of the day’ dishes. Crème brûlée from the dessert menu was scrumptious and there’s a superb French cheeseboard. Very good and affordable wine list - we’re were recommended the house white for our menu choice, which was excellent. Would highly recommend this restaurant, which is just a short journey from Conwy, with views across the estuary, and there’s 24 hr parking at the Station, just across the road which is competitively priced too.

We were very lucky to get a booking since our late afternoon phone-call was made in hope rather than expectation. Restaurant is small, friendly, convivial with attentive, engaging service from when you arrive through to when you leave. We had the best meal, evening out, we have had so far this year - hard to see it being beaten in the coming months. Lots of good choices on the menu and ‘specials’ to consider including on the night we visited John Dory, Hake as well as Confit Duck Leg. Between us we had and thoroughly enjoyed - Soupe De Pecheur, luscious bouillabaisse style fish soup with rouille; Crevettes in garlic butter perfect to mop up with bread. Followed by Hake (beautifully cooked) with lemon, butter and parsley, and Cote De Boeuff Gwalia - tender, cooked to medium in garlic butter. We finished off with Crème Brûlée’ and selection of French cheeses. Wine list is short, sensibly described, ‘off the beaten track’ and reasonably priced. It really doesn’t get much better than this - for which, much thanks to everyone concerned. And we’ll certainly be returning.

Only found out about Paysanne from Tripadvisor and what a find it is. We went on a Tuesday which is lobster night at the moment. My wife is not a fan of lobster so we pre-ordered an alternative main course. All three courses were excelllent and the service was friendly and helpful. Wine list was extensive and priced from reasonable to expensive. We went for a Bordeaux which was delicious and well priced. The building was "house sized" but the interior was well laid out so that it was possible to have an intimate evening for two. Strongly recommended if you're in the area.

Myself and my wife opted for dinner at Paysanne having noted its close proximety to our hotel (walkable despite the weather) and some excellent reviews by other diners. Having arrived late due to a timing mishap on our part, this proved to be not an issue despite the restuarant being very busy with a lively atmosphere and a large table of anglo-French diners, a good sign we thought. My wife opted for a light starter, the melon with pink grapefruit set off by walnuts was very nicely presented while my snails in garlic butter were very flavoursome - but 6 never seems enough! My main, a fillet of sea bass with prawn and anchovy sauce, poatoes lyonannaise and fresh vegtables was very agreeable, my wife opted for local mussels with frits, the second part of the dish was a little late arriving so the mussels were immediately changed for fresh, a nice touch. The mussels themselves were huge, very meaty. My wife opted out of the desert - unusual for her, but I went for the creme brulee with spice plum compote, delicious. A really good evening, excellent food, attentive (but not overly) service and a lively atmosphere. To be recommended.

I have been helped through the last couple of months of widowerhood by a family friend who herself has been involved for most of her life in catering and has travelled extensively; no pressure then when I wanted to find a restaurant that would satisfy her! Good old trip advisor came to the rescue like Superman and I chose the Paysanne. It ticked every box and more and we were thrilled with to have found it which is all down to TA. (Trip Advisor). The welcoming we received from the host was so friendly, the mussels were superb( most diners seem to have chosen them) but we were spoilt for choice. My guest was in raptures with the cod, she not only ate the lot but had a second helping of a roast potatoe which might not sound much, but in the 50 years I have known her, I have never known her to finish with a clean plate.Could we find a fault? By sheer fluke a neighbouring table had ordered the same mains as ourselves with the exception of the beef colour. (Medium/ Rare) and they were served our meal by a waiter which was only realised when the host brought us our meal. Full marks for realising and apologising as well as offering to replace it. We could see the funny side to it and it would not stop us returning. Personally, I would have liked the vegetables, which were a lovely colourful selection, slightly hotter, but then it suited my guest and it may have been down to the mix up.When we returned home, my guest spoke with her Spanish friend and compared the meal with one they had recently at a restaurant run by a chef who had received several years training with a tv celebrity chef and then spent several years in kitchens in France. Her assessment was that their meal was second division and that at the Paysanne was first division. I cannot argue with that; just remember to book before you go and you will not be disappointed.

We visited today for the first time with friends who hade been before, and were very pleasently surpised to find a place of this quality that we had not heard of before. We had a lovely welcome by the Maitre d' . The menu is simple, four starters, a similar number of mains, and several dishes of the day that were described to us -- the choice was just to my taste, I could happily have eaten pretty much any of the items. I opted for the smoked duck followed by the hake - beautiful. The portions are generous without being overfacing, and the house white is very drinkable and well priced. A very nice tart and then a coffee, with refills offered as we needed them, enabled us to linger and chat without feeling any presure to go before we were ready. The fixed price menu made it excellent value for a mid week lunch. Lovely. We will return. Thank you Paysanne.

A super restaurant where we had a delicious meal, prepared with care by a chef who clearly has a passion for creating food of the highest standard. This hidden gem appears to be a house from the road with its unobtrusive sign but it is clearly not to be missed. We were given a warm welcome by Cae, a genial, charming host and from that moment we felt looked after by him and the staff around him. The restaurant is intimate (with seating for between 25 and 35 perhaps) but not a place where you feel you have to speak in hushed tones by any means. We loved the relaxed atmosphere.

Delicious food, served in a fantastic setting by staff that couldn't have been more accommodating. The menu had a wide variety of choices that left you wondering what to choose on your next visit!

We loved this restaurant, the atmosphere and the hospitality. The food was delicious, good portions and well presented. We opted for the menu marché with one starter, one main, one dessert and glass of wine included. It was all great. The pork with prunes and the sea brass accompanied with a range of vegetables were well cooked and tasty. I loved the Eton mess (le desorde de Eton ) and my partner loved the chocolate mousse. We really enjoyed the discovery and the evening.

Fantastic small friendly restaurant. The host is very welcoming and helpful. The menu isn’t huge but varied. There was a choice of five fish dishes. I had the salmon and my husband had plaice. Both were perfectly cooked and delicious. Prices were reasonable. We will definitely return when staying at the Quay hotel.

This was one of the best restaurants I ate in Wales. Very nicely presented and all the food was expertly cooked. I would highly recommend this restaurant as a must eat in Tenby!

This a very nice restaurant serving classic and modern French cuisine. We enjoyed our dinner and the service was good and attentive. I had duck and my wife had guinea fowl, both of which were excellent. Well worth a visit.

Authentic, intimate French restaurant with great food and a friendly patron who's happy to talk about all things French. The bouillabaise is just as you'd find in Marseille. Plenty of interesting daily specials tell you that they're making the best of local and seasonal produce.

Amazing food and service! We loved the intimate atmosphere, friendly staff, and wonderful dishes. A fixed price menu as well as a la carte options are available. We ordered from the fixed price menu and had a glass of house wine along with the three courses. All three courses were amazing but the Soup du Jour was sublime! We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this meal.

My wife and I ate here tonight and have been staying at the Quay Hotel and could not recommend it more. The staff were very friendly and attentive and efficient. The food was great, I ate from the fixed price menu which is well worth the money (the guinea fowl was on there to replace the chicken and it was sublime). It's not a big establishment so book in advance. Well worth the trip. Thanks guys.

TRES BIEN Deganwy amazing amazing amazing. Directly opposite the train station. Why have we not been here before. Always drove past but will never again. Host, staff, food all as it should be and the £21.75 set menu, including a glass of really nice wine was very good value for that money. Busy but very well organised. Immaculate everywhere and we had such a good meal. Good portions and lovely dauphinois potatoes and perfectly cooked vegetables. Chicken Pork Salmon and the mushroom starter displayed perfectly and so tasty Finish off the evening at the hotel opposite to watch the sunset the boats and Conwy Castle in the distance

I visited a while ago but never got round to writing a review, the meal we had was delicious; the owner was lovely and talkative and happily squeezed us in with our very last minute booking. Feels so homely as if sitting in someone’s front room.

I would give this a 3.5 if I could as it was better than average (3/5) but not very good (4/5). Our starters (the asparagus and the lamb croquette) were ok. Both had eggs that tasted quite bland, and the asparagus portion size was very small. At a price of £8 and £10 respectively, we expected more. Our mains were much better, both the plaice and pea/mint risotto. Good portion sizes and good taste, couldn't fault these dishes. With the dessert, back to that feeling of disappointment we had when the starters arrived. The £8 lime glazed tart was ridiculously small, and the roasted banana ice-cream that came with it frankly tasted like a regular vanilla ice-cream. Overall, the entire meal was ok, but too expensive given the sizes of the starters and desserts.
