Visited the restaurant during a recent stay in Newcastle. The food was delicious and presented beautifully we had the tasting menu with wine matching which was excellently explained by Molly who is a credit to Peace and Loaf. Have recommended the restaurant to family and friends can't wait to revisit.

While the restaurant with "Loaf" in its name might promise exceptional bread, my experience fell short of expectations. Both dishes featuring bread were disappointingly hard as stone, detracting from the overall enjoyment. Unfortunately, none of the dishes stood out as exceptional, leaving me without a compelling reason to return.

We had a great experience here a year ago so decided to return to celebrate our anniversary - and it didn’t disappoint! Fantastic food, atmosphere and service. All the staff were lovely, but our waiter, Adam, was particularly hilarious and brilliant 👏 We can’t recommend peace and loaf enough and will definitely be returning - 10/10!

I don’t usually write reviews for restaurants, but this one was absolutely spectacular. From the service to the atmosphere, and of course, the incredible food, this experience was breathtaking. I had some of the most excellently cooked seafood I have ever experienced and it was the perfect spot for valentines. If you are thinking about having an intimate evening out with your partner, there is NO BETTER place in Newcastle. We will be back!

I really can't fault this restaurant top class innovative food but in s warm friendly atmosphere.....the staff aren't over attentative but are ready and knowledgeable for any questions you have .... mitchellin quality food without being pretentious its just the best!

The service was good. The food is simply far too salty. There was a prawn salad dish and i could actually tasted granules of monosodium glutamate. Is it really necessary to put so much MSG/salt into a salad dish? I know restaurant do this so that people would order more drinks, but the amount of sodium they put in all the dishes was just far too excessive in general. I had to tell the waiter to reduce the amount of salt. We all know excessive Na is bad for health and i cannot understand why they do this!!

We've been coming to P&L for several years, their food is always amazing, the staff are lovely and the chef/ kitchen was particularly accommodating yesterday- offering to replace our final course for cheese as we aren't fan's of Xmas pudding. I wish we'd taken photos, I will next time. I'd happily recommend this for couples, families and friends. It's a very welcoming restaurant.

One of the best meals I've had in my life, and easily the best in the North East. Really impressive, unpretentious food cooked with talent and respect for the produce. The service was brilliant. Not only flawless and knowledgeable, but really going the extra mile with genuine personality, warmth and humour. Outstanding, I really couldn't recommend it more!

My husband and I went for the Thursday evening “Peace of Beef” special. In our visit, we had bread and butter, the chefs take of a prawn cocktail, an enormous (and sensationally delicious) beef Wellington. Followed by spotted dick for dessert. I cannot give this place enough praise. Every single member of staff that we encountered was lovely. That beef Wellington was that good, that my husband and I barely spoke a word to each other until we finished it. There were tables around us getting the taster menu, and that also looked really good! Seriously good food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. We will DEFINITELY be back.

Me and my wife booked for last night and opted for the 7 course tasting menu. What can I say other than superb from entering the restaurant to leaving we had a great experience. Food was amazing staff were attentive and knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Wow. What a superb experience. A stunning culinary experience and the service from the bar & being greeted, to our wonderful waitress and everyone in between was faultless. You are made to feel more than a guest and more like a friend. Very relaxed and genuine atmosphere. The food was stunning. Tasting menu had 13 courses (be sure to go in hungry as you get a lot for your money) and we were amazed at the stunning flavours and textures created. Wine pairing was superb also and nicely presented and explained by our attentive and lovely waitress. Stand out dishes for me were Bread & Spreads & Cauliflower Satay. Having eaten in 3 star restaurants, these dishes could easily have made the menu there. The bread and spreads was the most clever and stunning dish I have ever eaten. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience. The only surprise is you don’t have a Michelin star. Possibly due to a more laid back entrance but I really liked that. Not stuffy or pretentious at all and all staff very genuine and lovely. This is a hidden gem. I’ll be telling all who listen about this place and when I am up from London again, I’ll be sure to visit again. Thanks all for a wonderful and truly memorable experience.

So it's an odd one. For me 3stars - because it should be better. So compared to others it's very good, but the price is much more, so expectations are higher. And you should 'get what you pay for'. Our bill was £400 for the 3 of us. So it's an expensive night. And it was only 3 stars for that price. The food itself was very tasty, but not 'special' - only one dish was truly noteworthy (the cauliflower if you're interested). I was hoping for more 'wow' with each mouthful, but it wasn't there. Our initial host (I think his name was Dan?) was a very amiable Irish chap who acted as sommelier and truly gave us something extra - I hope someone feeds back to him how he truly raised the night for us. The other servers however had that missing quality we expected. There was little explanation of the dishes - it came across rushed and we had to look at the menu to figure out what we were eating. The restaurant isn't that large, so it would have been better if there was a little more 'hosting' - it truly changes the evening and the experience. This is again something I expect from a 'high end' restaurant, and thus the 3 stars. So would I go back? Well this is my second time, and I wasn't sure after the first as my experience was similar. But everyone deserves a second chance. Unfortunately for me, it's not worth the money and so I wouldn't go back. Sorry.

This has to be the very very best restaurant in the North East, and we are lucky enough to eaten at many other brilliant establishments locally. From the moment you walk through the door, the ambiance and decor and atnosphere is exceptional. The food was absolutely out of this world, a really great Birthday treat, which took us over three hours to enjoy fully. The imagination and creativity was awe inspiring . It was a fairly busy Friday night, with every table taken, but it has a cool relaxed vibe. I’d like to single out the synchronicity and team work of the serving team . They operate as such a seamless, and cohesive bunch, helping each other, making it all run so smoothly and with such passion

We ate here 18months ago and had the most incredible night. Since then we've been to D&P and H.O.T. Neither of which lived up to the memory of our first night here. In the interest of science we wanted to check that this was indeed the benchmark of fine dining in Newcastle and we were not disappointed. Every course had a wow factor to it and we were expertly looked after by Jamie who was brilliant throughout. The food, the atmosphere, the setting and the overall experience was brilliant. This will be our go to destination for a high end night out.

Visited for our anniversary and chose menu A for £45 each. My dietary requirements were catered for in advance which was amazing as I struggle usually. The chef was happy to adapt the menu as I chose the vegetarian menu but as I eat fish I asked if I could try the scallop. Every dish was explained and the flavours were unbelievable. Each dish was beautifully presented and gaps between dishes was perfect. Staff are very happy to discuss the menu and chat about the dishes. Can’t wait to go back when the menu changes.

very fancy restaurant but yet seems not very high strung and it's quite chill. our family got the taster menu and everything was prepared so delicately and precisely it was a great night. not everything I was keen on the taste of but that is somewhat to be expected with am experience like this. would go again

Lovely lunch had the taster menu with wine flight excellent value for money both the soup and scallop dish stood out for myself and my partner. Service and food quality were excellent if your in the area and want a fine dining experience without the price tag give Peace and Loaf a try we have been to Roots , Black Swan, Nathan outlaws to name but a few and honestly for a fraction of the price you can enjoy good food and service would definitely recommend.

Booking a birthday meal for a carnivore (with an intolerance to various nuts,) and three vegetarians (one of whom can't have dairy, and one of whom can't have dairy, soy or gluten) felt like an impossible challenge - but the team at Peace & Loaf were brilliant! The chefs adapted the long tasting menu for all of our requirements. The presentation was exquisite, and the dishes varied and beautifully cooked. We were made so welcome, and had a really lovely evening. The staff were attentive, and talked us through each dish - happy to answer our questions about interesting herbs and flavours. It was a expensive treat for us - but we felt it was excellent value for money, and well worth splashing out on, for a special occasion.

Tasting menu was phenomenal and they were able to cater for multiple food intollerances too (gluten, soy, dairy). Loved every bite!

The tasting menu was excellent, if it was worth £80 per head is in the eye of the beholder. But selling a £14 sauvignon blanc for £47 that's criminal.

Loved our lunch here, each dish was fantastic! The lamb in particular was very good. The lovely people that served us gave us a great background to each wine too.

Was slightly concerned it would be a bit too fine dining-y for me and my partner. But how wrong I was! We both had Menu A, seven courses, and it was absolutely incredible. First off, the food was 10/10. Second, we loved that the experience was spread over an hour and a half, with a new dish coming out every 10min or so, rather than the usual situation of trying to chat between mouthfuls and then finishing your meal in 15 minutes. The last thing to mention is that you definitely feel full after all those courses. They may look small, but we certainly left satisfied and didn’t really eat for the rest of the day. Will defo be returning!

Yum. We don’t go here often but we go regularly for special occasions. P&L just get it right. Excellent food excellent atmosphere excellent service and parking right outside. What’s not to love. Amazing creations delivered quickly and without fuss. Big up to Tom who looked after us this evening. I was licking my lips all the way home and still had nice flavours going on when I got there. A great spot near Newcastle / Washington way. We visited on the steak tasting menu night, and the food tasted fantastic. Natalia our waitress was very friendly and stopped to talk to us a few times about what else we could do in Newcastle whilst visiting. Good choice of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks (like mocktails). Free parking outside the restaurant too as we visited in the evening. Not much more to say apart from a must visit in the area!

Wonderful tasting menu experience in a restaurant with a unique interior design. Our waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable about the many dishes that were served. Absolutely must if you are a foodie. It was our first time but not last. The tasting menu is served at a leisurely pace to allow you to savour and enjoy each course. We had 12 courses - each one carefully thought out to complement the next. They were very accommodating with our allergies and dietary requirements which was very much appreciated. Make sure you leave enough time when booking to enjoy the courses - not having to rush them. The menus are seasonal and therefor change around 5 times a year, but I’m told they will have special menus from time to time. I adored the avocado and potato! It was stunning. I also loved the charcuterie course! You have to go and try for yourself.

Incredible food tasting experience. 2 set menus - 70 or 40 pound charge but for a special treat it's excellent. Staff explain each course as it arrives. Wine list is excellent we had the cheapest one Sardinian if I remember 28 and it was fantastic.

Never fails to impress. The taster menu we had ( the smaller one ) is enough for us . Staff are always very friendly . The value for money is exceptional .

Went for the large taster menu which was £70 per person, one of the best meals I have had in a long time, lovely environment with nice mood lighting, helpful and really chatty staff, the food was exquisite, had tons of flavour and a huge variety of different tastes and textures. The quality of the food was amazing and tried some new things, couldn’t hack the oyster far to adventurous for me, but yes not a place for picky eaters I tell ya!

My wife and I went to Peace and Load today and what an experience it was. My wife has been struggling to eat due to a number of conditions over the past few months. We are both real foodies so it has been difficult to adjust for her, to eating for pure sustenance rather than for pleasure. For Valentine's I booked Peace and Loaf hoping that she would have a good day and be able to eat some of what their tasting menu had to offer. When we arrived, the staff were able to make allowances for what she could and couldn't eat, and she ended up being able to take pleasure in eating absolutely every dish they served to her. Every dish was interesting and delicious, yet not too rich so that she couldn't enjoy it. Needless to say LOVED each and every one of the 13 superb courses that were put in front of me. Added to the excellent service, top quality food, drink and atmosphere, the meal was very reasonable too. We both left with huge smiles on our faces. Thanks to all for helping make it such an enjoyable experience for us both.

Both service and food are excellent. I went for the shorter menu as I didn’t have time for the full tasting menu. They didn’t bat an eyelid or charge the earth when I asked to add a course from the tasting menu. I’ll be back for the full tasting experience as soon as I can.

We visited Peace & Loaf on 30th December and ate off their lunchtime tasting menu. Everything we had was delicious and we loved the relaxed informal dining atmosphere. Great value for exceptional food.

Peace and loaf was disappointing as a fine dining, tasting menu. It had nice food but not the same quality I’ve had at other places around Newcastle. Unfortunately a few of the dishes were verging on cold, including the both the scallop and main lamb dish, which is not what I expect from a place like this. However, the one amazing dish was the date cake with vanilla ice cream. That was incredibly! Soft, spongy cake with a gorgeous syrup, delicious!
