Poldino's in Aberdeen City

Visited whilst working in Aberdeen. Lovely restaurant which is reasonably priced. Food was well cooked, presented and tasty. Certainly would visit again if I was in Aberdeen again.

Great, traditional Italian restaurant. Fantastic service, staff are invested in the quality of the food and it shows. Food was fantastic. Surprisingly cheap too. We were £160 for 4 people including 3 courses each and two rounds of drinks. Would much rather go here than the branded chains.

We popped in for lunch after spotting the place on a random rainy Thursday whilst visiting Aberdeen and can say that we were delighted. Everything from the friendly welcome to being sat at a lovely cosy table by the window, the brilliant service, the great selection of wine and beer, the delicious food, and the great relaxed atmosphere was excellent. We felt like we had been totally spoiled and will definitely return if we visit the city again!

Lasagne to due for. High bar coming from an Italian family. Grandad took me there as a child and its much and such how I remeber. Couldn't speak more highly.

I’ve been going here for last 30 years and sorry to say it’s gone downhill . Food very average , service ok , decor beyond tired now . Atmosphere not as good as it could be . Needs refreshing , and sone ooomf to it . Italian family member was not impressed either.

We really liked the regional theme the restaurant had used for their special menu. There was a lovely buzz in the place as it was a busy lunchtime, but the staff were still happy to discuss the menu, the history of the restaurant, and the story behind one of the pieces of artwork on the wall (painted by a long-standing regular customer). We had a wonderful dining experience and will be back!

Have eaten here several times over the last 30 years but recent experience was definitely a step down compared with previous visits. Food was hearty but rather average without much thought on presentation. Service was very slow despite there being plenty staff on and not all tables occupied. I hope they can get back to their usual levels of service as I'd hate to see this one disappear from Aberdeen

Our first visit in a long time and will now be out go to place. Friendly welcoming service from start to finish. Super ambience and food delicious. Lasagna so tasty infact the best I've ever had. Husband had cabanara and he said it was so good. Thank you to all the hard working staff. ♥️

disapointing lasagne : a bid dish of what was more just pasta covered in bolognese sauce, way too wet . could have done with being smaller, more solid and served with some salad . very boring to eat . Garlic prawns were ok but again too much oil. No longer have spaghetti alla vongole which is what I really wanted.

Evening meal in a large group. Friendly welcome. We were served in good time. Everyone loved their choices of food. Pistachio ice cream was excellent.

The atmosphere was wonderful. Both the lasagna and the carbonara were delicious, and the prices were very reasonable.

If you're in Aberdeen and are seeking an authentic Italian culinary experience then Poldino's Restaurant and Pizzeria is the place to visit. Comfortable and elegant surroundings inside the restaurant. Service staff that were friendly and helpful. A comprehensive menu to cater for many taste and likes. We began with salt and pepper calamari and insalata caprese. Both fresh and delicious. For main we tried the Panciotti Capesante e Gamberi and the Spaghetti Puttanesca. Both fabulous and as good as you will find in fine restaurants in Italy. For Italian food in Aberdeen Poldino's is highly recommended

Lovely atmosphere. Went in for lunch and the waiter was very welcoming. Had the chicken and liver pate which was nice. Lasagne for main dish, nice and hot. My wife had the Pollo Cacciatore and Veg. It was delicious. We were both stuffed. Would recommend

Absolutely delicious all round. Could tell everything was fresh and high quality - definitely recommend. We will be back.

Overall the experience was disappointing, the service was slow, which is somewhat understandable as it was more or less busy. The pizza however had a very thin base which made it hard to eat, didn’t have enough cheese, that you could see the base in some spots. The pizzas weren’t super tasty and anything special and were pretty much just stomach filler rather than a delightful meal. Overall wouldn’t recommend.

Great Italian Restaurant! Took a while for them to find our booking and it was busy so a little wait was endured but we were seated eventually. I had a starter (minestrone) which was stunning, for mains we both took the lasagne and it was probably the best I have ever tasted, I would even have it again. Wine was a little pricey but it was in the Oil Capital of Europe so to be expected. Ambience good, very Italian, would we ever go back....YES

We loved the food here. We passed by walking and made a reservation and were not disappointed. I had monk fish with capers (amazing) and the eggplant and cheese ravioli with sage butter sauce. Great pairing and definitely a family business that felt authentic. 5 stars!

4.5/5 for me. The food was brilliant. Portion sizes were good and the steak was cooked perfectly. Calamari was underwhelming. The restaurant was a great space to sit in, ambience was good. The main complaint would be the service was lacking somewhat. We were sat often without menus or drinks, it felt as if we were forgotten about on a couple of occasions.

Wonderful place. They have the Best Italian food in the zone with very kind service. Love here.

The best we eat during our 5 days stay in Aberdeen, good service and atmosphere but a bit too noisy. We will definitely go here again if we're in Aberdeen!

I booked Poldinos for Valentines Day and was not disappointed, the staff are so friendly, helpful and willing to go above and beyond to make your meal one to remember. They have all your pasta & pizza favourites, we had the bruschetta to start and then the picante pizza and spaghetti carbonara, it was all served in great time, roasting hot and well presented with a great taste. It was really good value and is a hidden gem in the city centre and is one to try if your looking for an Italian.

Great service! one of our party had to step away from the meal to take a phone call. They put his plate under a hot lamp for him but when he came back to sit down they told him that they would prepare a new plate instead. I can't think of many places that would do that. I was impressed. The Waiters were good humoured and professional. The food was very good, exactly what I thought it should be based on the description. Portions were generous and everything was clean. I will be coming back again.

Lots of positive things to say: 1. The restaurant indoors is lovely. 2. Food was really nice. 3. Some servers were really kind and prompt even in a busy time period. Great job! However, on one occasion the owner was a bit inconsiderate of us. Probably just a one off. At times it seemed like the owner was rude to other staff members, which may not be a healthy way to build a positive environment/ dining experience. The owner should build trust with his staff more - and empower them to run the show. I know they can manage it! And if you direct them with a smile, it indicates that you are not angry with them.

A perfect restaurant, very enjoyable meal. We didn't hold back as were celebrating friends anniversary with them. Don't go expecting cheap buffet - this is fine Italian dining. I still think it was good value - approx £45 per person and that included half a litre of wine each.

Booked Poldino's, as we heard great things and was recommended to us, and thought it would be a great place to stop by before our gig. We attended with my 73 year old grandmother and friend, and we were met with a rude gentleman of a server (I'm guessing the owner/manager) on entrance. My gran accidentally followed the young waiter to a table he was setting up, as she thought he was taking us to the table, before the older waiter abruptly shouted "excuse me, where are you going? I haven't got your table yet" in a rude manner. Our friend tried to joke about it and say "oh she's away to help you guys out" before he condescendingly said "no we have enough help already thank you very much". We then gave our name for the table we booked under, and he said he couldn't find us, until a younger member of staff seen the name on the screen. Then he tried to make a joke out of the name we had as it was booked under the wrong name, but we felt really uncomfortable by this point and taken aback by his manner. But we preceded to take our table and order. We all can have a joke, but this was not the kind of attitude of someone having a laugh with their customers. Towards the end of the meal, we seen an elderly customer waiting for his wife while she was in the bathroom, before the older waiter came over, and abruptly told him to move as they were setting up another table (the elderly man could have done with a seat). By this point both our tables had only been seated for just over an hour. This experience has left us quite disappointed considering there was such good reviews, I couldn't fault the other waiters that served us, but were very put off by the first gentleman. Very unwelcoming and not how customers should feel when walking into a restaurant for a nice meal.

What a wonderful surprise! We went into Poldino's felling hungry after another restaurant turned out to be closed, and had one of the best 'classic' Italian meals we've had. Gracious service and fresh, extremely well-prepared food. Bolognese as good as any in New York. Or Italy! Same for linguine (ok, it's spaghetti here) with clams. Not pretentious or overpriced, but a lovely setting for a great meal!

It's been quite a few years since last in Poldino's and we'll be back quicker next time. The staff were both friendly and very professional We had starters of Calamari & Homemade chicken liver pate. The Calamari was nice & I would have it again, but the coating was a little soft for me. My partner Had the Paté which was really nice, but she was not impressed with the paper thin flat breads. Crusty bread or toast would have been preferred, but she still enjoyed it. We had a side of BRUSCHETTA which was nice. Mains Were the BISTECCA ALLA GRIGLIA which was Sirloin Steak & Asparagus, 1/2 tomato with Roast Veg & Potatoes.And SALMONE DELLA CASA which was Salmon fillet in a cream, smoked salmon & dill sauce with roat veg & potatoes. The steak was terrific. We both thought the roast Veg of Carrots & Courgette was very nice & they worked well with the steak and also the Salmon dish. We were both full after the 2 courses & we could not manage a Desert so well done for that. Recommended

To travel from Australia, via two oceans and three seas; Wandering the seaside Scottish town of the north, Aberdeen - this has by far been the best Italian food we've had, served with a side of local Scottish knowledge. Our host and restaurant manager, Lee - half Glaswegian, half Italian...born and bred Aberdonian or as aptly agreed to "Abertalian"🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇮🇹... he knows his stuff! The food was full of flavour and the essence of italian tradition. Everything is fresh, generous and divine. Highly recommended. Bon appétite ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
