Ricci's in Derbyshire Dales

Went in about 2pm on a Thursday so it was quiet. Only a small place but had a wonderful, welcoming staff, quick service and the pizza was served fast, got and was delicious.

The table next to us complained that the pasta was bland and i thought they were just old, grumpy and fussy. But i have to agree that the pasta was bland and tasteless. I finished mine and partner left most of it. Staff asked if everything was ok but didn’t to disappoint them further. We had creamy mushroom pasta. I believe it could easily improve if they add chicken to it and also more/thicker sauce. Would be willing to pay more for an increase in quality. The garlic bread was very tasty however!

Real Italian food . We often visit Bakewell and this is the first time at this restaurant and definitely not the last . From the moment we walked through the door we were welcomed by the friendly and helpful staff . After looking at the great value menu we took their recommendation of an Italian Pasta dish . We enjoyed a drink while the meal was being prepared. The food came and I can honestly say it was one of the best pastas I have ever eaten. An Italian classic dish at a great value price .

Visited Ricci,s November 20th thought it would be a nice place to get a pizza as we were on coach trip. Unfortunately the service was terrible. Waited 45 mins for a pizza and when my wife asked about it, she was told it would be going in the oven in a minute. When we finally received the pizza it was undercooked. Other customers were complaining about the length of time it was taking to get their orders ready as well

Ordered a takeaway and rocked up to collect it. A great start as the pizzas were made fresh and ready to be cooked. Of the two young cooks, one seemed to be a little stressed and to be honest wasn’t inspiring too much confidence that the the food would be good, however, the pizzas and pasta dishes were great. The large pizza is 10” as it says on the menu. Maybe others were expecting a 12”? It is quite clear though. Pizza dough is amazing.

We had lovely meal today, can’t recommend highly enough. Food was reasonably priced and good quality. Thanks see you again 🥰

We had a long walk with our Lab and wanted an outdoor quick bite meal so opted for Pizza as we'd been here a few years ago and it was nice, not this time. We ordered a LARGE Margarita pizza and wanted a water (didn't have any) and a coffee (machine wasn't working) not great had to go to another shop. The large pizza was not as described it was more like a child's pizza as you can see in the picture the size of my average hand spread, with hardly any topping. Disappointed is an understatement. Owner sat on his laptop by the door, didn't even raise his head to say hello. We won't go here again, we'd advise anyone asking to eat elsewhere, both wished we'd gone to the Red Lion instead, next time we will.

Called in on spec for lunch as we were visiting Bakewell, got to say I had the best pizza I've eaten in a long while- as simple as that Try the Tre Carne backed up with the garlic bites- you won't be disappointed.

this was are first visit under the new ownership .we the only 3 people in the service was vey slow and poor we orderd dough ball for starters these took over half an hour and where vert chewy the pizzas took a further hour to arrive and the crusts where burnt also they where large pizza? but as big as my hand .having visited many times under the old owners we where very disapointed .if it ever gets busy ie more than you be there for a week to get your order .we are now going to the coop for more pizzas as we are still hungry please come back the old owner

Only a small place but we were able to sit at a table outside with our dog. Staff friendly. I wanted a salad but without some of the ingredients so they left them out and gave me more of other ingredients that I like. The pizza that my husband had and my salad were delicious and tasted Italian.

We have just had lunch at this small Italian restaurant in Bakewell. We ordered pizzas, which took a while to prepare, because all the dough is freshly made, but it was definitely worth the wait. The pizzas were authentic and delicious. I’m gluten free and the chef explained that he had experimented over time to perfect gluten free dough. He has certainly got it right! I’ve been reading some of the previous reviews and I’m afraid that I must corroborate Ab1997ab’s story (I was the dashing silver fox that ordered the Hawaiian after said reviewer’s party).Mr. Ricci did indeed offer a reimbursement to the last of this group to order, however not a moment later this member of their party began to bleed profusely from his face. I must stress emphatically that Mr. Ricci DID NOT touch or physically harm this person in any way. Therefore I have deduced that Mr. Ricci used some form of black magic on the young gent that caused the blood vessels in his face to burst. The lip reading skills I acquired during the Falklands are rusty, but I’m fairly certain that he was murmuring something backwards in Latin immediately before the incident.Despite this I must award no less than five stars, as my personal experience was witchcraft free, the food didn’t kill me, and I was able to sniff the expired bratwurst casings, from the bins of the Austrian sausage shop opposite, with minimal threats to call the police.

I can fully appreciate if a member of staff has called in sick that things might be delayed, which it was by 40 minutes, but there is absolutely no excuse for the terrible quality of food, particularly after such a long wait.The pizzas were missing the extra toppings we had paid for, and were raw at the bottom, the dough was way too thick and the whole pizza was greasy. Love Riccis, especially the mushroom pizza. Love that they do a small size which is perfect for me. We ordered via Just Eat which gives an expected time that your food should be ready, but we had to wait far longer unfortunately. Another customer outside mentioned that it is under new management, so perhaps this explains the waiting time. Our pizzas were nice though. Only 3 stars because it didn’t feel very welcoming and more importantly it didn’t feel very Covid secure, as several people were waiting inside in a very small space and there were no signs to say how many people were allowed in at any one time, and the staff didn’t say anything! People didn’t want to wait outside because they had been waiting a long time already for their food and nobody was coming out to tell people when their pizzas were ready. Hopefully these are just teething problems as the new management settle in.

Came here recently and sat outside . We were concerned to be served by a very young and very shy boy with no communication skills. You have to start somewhere but customers come first and this chap was not ready to be let loose.We waited a long time for two small pasta dishes, given that it did not appear to be busy. They were nice and fresh so I would say they are able to pull off good pasta here.However, the situation with the small army of kids is not good - they can't do the job at the moment and as I say customers and service need to come first. Get a proper experienced assistant.

I really hate to leave poor reviews and like to help small independent businesses as much as possible, but I feel I have to on this occasion.We’d planned a Friday family evening and hoped to get pizza and sit by the river on what was a lovely evening, after being recommended this place by someone who came just last week. There was a queue outside when we ordered, which we took as a positive sign. We got in and ordered with the young lad who was serving. He was only young, so I won’t hold his lack of charisma or customer service skills against him as it can be an intimidating job at times. The owner told us it would be at least 50 minutes so we went across the road and found a bar to sit outside and have a cuppa while we waited.We went back after 50 minutes, waited inside for five minutes without acknowledgement and finally spoke up to let them know we were here to collect our order. Whilst waiting, we discovered that there were a few people outside who had waited far longer than 50 minutes. After at least thirty minutes stood there waiting we finally got the pizzas.It was clear they were busy, but this was not from seeing them rushing around, as that couldn’t be further from the truth. I was initially sympathetic that they were busy and obviously struggling. However, there was absolutely no effort made to communicate with the customers who were clearly getting frustrated. It didn’t even look like they were making an effort to get orders out any quicker. As bad as I feel saying it, it wasn’t far off the sloth scene in Zootropolis. It was almost laughably slow.We were finally given the order by the young girl, with no apology for the wait. We didn’t get the garlic pizza bread we asked for and instead got the cheesy garlic baguette. It was actually pretty good to be fair, but not what we specifically asked the lad for and we barely ate any. There was no way we were waiting any longer and given how they’d been so far I don’t think it would’ve even been worth saying anything. Anyway, we took it all to the river as planned and tucked in. They didn’t quite live up to expectations, though I’m sure on another night they would’ve been cooked perfectly. They weren’t cut well either so when we tried picking them up the cheese just came off the rest of it. We ended up giving up and taking them home and reheating them in the oven. Of course, at that point almost all quality is lost but sadly, the potential of a fantastic pizza was clearly evident, making the whole debacle even more disappointing. So all in all, after looking forward to tonight all week, it’s been a calamity. It was too late to enjoy the pizza, we spent most of it waiting for a pizza, the pizza was disappointing and after all that, our child was too tired to go on the park after we’d promised him that all day. I honestly hate writing reviews like this but it didn’t need to be this way. I’m sure this place is a little gem but just because it’s busy, it doesn’t mean the staff should throw the towel in for the night and give up. I would love to give it another go but we can’t get to Bakewell very easily so it’s rare we visit. It’s unlikely that we’ll risk Ricci’s again on our next visit and that’s such a shame. I don’t want this review to put anyone off going because I’m sure it’s a one off but felt that I just had to write it because of how wrong it was in the end.

Me and my 2 friends decided to try something new instead of the usual fish and chips when visiting Bakewell. We were hugely shocked with the service we experienced. I was the only person to walk in and order to be stood there for a minute without recognition whilst a young girl and boy behind the counter were laughing with what appeared to be the owner. They then looked at me and seemed to have a confused/annoyed face on them. I ordered 1 large spaghetti bolegnese and 2 carbonaras. The girl behind the counter took payment without a word. I then had to ask them how long it would take and the man, again, looked at me and said "20 minutes" and looked back down with a sort of annoyed face. We weren't informed of this wait before ordering. We didn't find a problem with waiting, however, and we came back after 25 minutes. Again, I walked in to be stood there for a few minutes (with no other customers inside). They even looked at me and carried on speaking amongst themselves. I had to but in to ask if it's ready to be told a simple and blunt "no" by the elder guy (again, perhaps the owner). I felt so embarrassed. I then asked how long it would take as to be told "about 15 more minutes". We came back after 20 minutes to be given our order. The 3 things we ordered were not satisfying at all. The portion sizes were not as big as we were expecting and my spaghetti bolegnese even had bits that were burnt. They even forgot to add the cheese that I asked for but at this point I didn't want to be in their building anymore.If they have "fast and friendly service" on their sign outside, why do they provide the opposite? I seldom complain about anything, however this ruined my trip to Bakewell which I had not visited since before COVID times.

I know it’s a pandemic and times are different and maybe the day is slow with few customers but surely that makes even the more reason to treat customers with a smile! First time here for two take -away drinks one flat white “ just a milky coffee” and one watery and disappointing hot chocolate! Short changed twice! The teenage girl serving ( bored , no customer service skills) really hadn’t a clue regarding money. Disappointing experience will not be going again. Learning points: improve customer service, train staff with barista skills to make proper tasty drinks, make sure a calculator is available to help staff with giving change, if the till doesn’t do it for them.

We have eaten at Ricci's several times, and on our latest trip to Bakewellwere looking forward to a pizza. However, this time it looked like it had closed, as there was a "For Sale" sign. Do hope this reopens soon.

Wonderful atmosphere, great selection of beers, ciders and gins. Highly recommended. Good music too!

my parents have been raving about this café and recommending me to go for a while now. Finally yesterday I gave it a try and I can’t believe what I was missing out on. The garlic bread was amazing, I had a lasagne and it is the best lasagne I have ever tasted! The café itself is lovely and the owners and staff are excellent, so friendly and polite. The portion sizes for your money is great. An incredible café and I will definitely be returning in the very near future!

Wanted an evening meal after travelling. Found Ricci's on trip advisor and thought we would give it a go. Ordered two pizzas and tea for two. The tea was Yorkshire with a full tea pot and a bit water jug. Lovely strong tea. The pizzas were lovely and my husband really enjoyed his with anchovies, not a lot of places do them where we live.

Stopped to stretch our legs and grab some food in Bakewell in the middle of our journey home. All I wanted was some tomato pasta and we couldn’t have found a better place! Lovely friendly and homely service and absolutely gorgeous food - I don’t ever think I’ve had a nicer tomato pasta in my life (even in Rome!) I couldn’t believe how big the portion was, I felt like I was round at someone’s house for a lovely meal (in a good way!) we will definitely be returning whenever we are next near Bakewell!

Ricci's is a small (only a few tables) Italian cafe and take away. We ordered a 10" pizza and spaghetti bolognese. The pizza was cooked fresh just the other side of the counter and was excellent (a real taste of Italy!!) as was the spaghetti. Deserts were a selection of homemade cake/gateau or ice creams. Though small it is very friendly and welcoming. It doesn't serve alcohol and is a cash only establishment (cash machine just across the road so no problem). Well worth a visit.

Spent the weekend in Bakewell and after hearing all the great reviews thought we’d try it out - we certainly wasn’t disappointed. The most fresh, full of flavour pizza ever and lovely coffee - and very friendly staff! Would definitely come back!

Very welcoming from Ricci and his partner, Sue. It’s only a small bistro, but the choices of pizza and pasta are good with plenty of vegetarian choice. A takeaway service is also available and you can take away a cold lasagne for heating or freezing. I had a 7 inch pepperoni which was more than enough to satisfy me and my partner had 10 inch which was very filling. Both were freshly made and very tasty. Great coffee choice too offering a decaf option.

Second time we’ve been and second time the owner has been rude towards our children. The first time we changed our order to be taken away instead after the owner took a book off my child - a childrens book off their bookshelf. Today we ordered take out pizza, my child was sat at a table in front of the till whilst I ordered and picked up the pepper mill (he made no mess) and the male owner came and took it out of his hands. He said ‘I’ll have that as children make a mess’. I said not my child and he’s only touched it. He then removed the sugar pot from the table as well and put them on a high up shelf and said ‘they always make a mess’. Totally put me off returning and spoilt it, if we hadnt already have paid I would have walked off. When I told my partner who was waiting outside what happened another family said they’d experienced the same rudeness whilst they ate in. Nice enough pizza but will drive away decent customers with that bad attitude!

It's always been our place to go for a drink and something to eat when we go to Bakewell, but when I had to go and get some money from the cash point round the corner from Ricci's whilst leaving my partner, wallet and my jacket behind, the lady behind the counter said the next customer who was paying their bill, you have to be carefull but I can see he's going round the corner to the cash point.

Lovely lunch friendly staff good food garlic bread to die for.Small area for eating so may have to return to get a table but worth the wait.

The best Italian food I've ever eaten! Such a cute couple who cook everything themselves. Nothing artificial.. great pick for anyone who enjoys authentic Italian 😍😍

Normally my husband visits for a coffee and cake when out on his bike, today all four of us went and i have to say the pizza was amazing! The kids had the hot tub which went down a storm too!husband had the spicey bacon butty which was also yum! All in all great food, great cake, great coffee.....great place!

Needs to get up with the time and take card as when me and my family entered there was a friend of Thiers at the till chatting so the only sign which is very small saying cash only I could not see we ordered a tea coffee and coke plus my daughter wanted a margarita pizza when I went to pay by card he said we don't take card which was not helpfull as I don't carry cash or use cash machines as I have had probs with them before ! Anyway I left a review on Google which he tried to say I only had two coffees and most places would not take card for this but all the classy places take card the pizza tasted funny as it had herbs in it and the cheese just fell off the base so if you want great pizza avoid this place !!

This place is clearly run by people who genuinely care and want to make sure you have a nice meal. Food arrived promptly and with a smile. Very reasonable price. One of the better Bakewell eating experiences.

Excellent little place for some hearty italian food with very prompt service. Cheesy garlic bread was amazing and the owners were so friendly and accommodating. We will be back - thank you!

We popped in for a quick snack and coffee. The cafe is small and relatively basic but it’s worth a visit because what they do, they do very well. Nice food, nice coffee, nice staff, good price.
