Scalini Restaurant in Belfast

Staff were friendly and inviting upon arrival. Our table was a little delayed so ee waited by the door. We were seated beside the KP / till section where the glass washer machine was in full operation. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and was served an undercooked base with sliced unmistakable hot dogs on top. My initial thought was it was a mistake but they tried to convince me it was pepperoni. I asked for a margarita instead. And it was delivered to the table quickly. Unfortunately nobody came to check if our food was satisfactory. My fridnds picante pizza wasn’t spicy at all. Also containing hot dogs. The mangers were seated directly beside us along with 10 staff at the till area yet we struggled to get their attention. They also tried to bill me for a pepperoni pizza until I asked.

4 of us dined there, unfortunately my husband was very sick after his meal. He had the seafood pasta and the mussels were off

I got extreme food poisoning one hour after eating from here with friends, turned out to be the side salad. £100s spent getting my car deep cleaned several times and it has never been the same. No response from the restaurant when I left feedback.

Had a lovely meal with my family last night 28th, December, nice to sit and hear each other talk, food and staff were great.

Family of five ranging from age 5+. We arrived at 1715. We all enjoyed the food. The service was excellent. Only a couple of small issues. The tables were close together needing to be careful to avoid disturbing other diners when sitting and the floor around my seat was sticky. Would certainly visit again.

Not sure why I'm giving it 4 stars....could easily have been 5 all round. Food, service and atmosphere all very good.

Cold food sat us up 4 flights off stairs not a good experience

Went to celebrate 40th birthday party booked in August. Table was set up 4 flights of stairs needed oxygen on arrival. No draught beers available only bottles. The table for 14 had 7 chairs backed against a wall so getting in and out meant people constantly having to move to let others out. Order food fairly quick however the wait was much longer. The arrival of food was random so luck of the draw who got what when. I ordered the Special pizza it was likukewarm fillings were bland I would honestly say it was probably the worst pizza I've eaten out. My partner ordered a chicken dish with vegetables when the dish arrived it too was COLD and the vegetables hard. All in all travelled from Manchester to belfast looking forward to a special celebration in a reputable restaurant and felt cheated with poor service and poor food terrible location of dining area not suitable for elderly or disabled people.

Disappointing birthday meal. Restaurant is massive inside over several different floors, spacious and nice Italian decor. We were seated right at the very top, which was difficult for mother with mobility issues. Food not to bad, good value, decent size portions, Authentic Italian. Brusetta was tasty, Garlic bread was dry, Carbonara was delicious. Having booked for 15 people to celebrate my 40th birthday, we were all seated on 1 long table which was nice. I ordered 2 bottles of champagne for the table that took 15mins to arrive. I had to ask several times for glasses, champagnes left on table, not poured by waiter/waitress, we had to pour our own. We ordered bottles of wine for the table to and that was a pour your own affair to. I ordered both Garlic bread and Brusetta together as a starter only my garlic bread arrived, so I had to ask and wait for it when everyone else has finished their starters. Same thing happened with mains. I was forgotten again and was last ro be served when the rest of the table were served.

Staff were super friendly and really interactive with the baby at the table. He loved it when they walked past and smiled at him. Food was nice, underneath my calzone was a bit burnt. Was able to eat around it. And the seafish pasta the squid was rubbery which was disappointing for the member at the table.

Spaghetti Carbonara was De-lish!!!!

Great food at reasonable price. No wonder the restaurant was packed. However, it took 40' for the food to come out, which is too much waiting. We were surprised we didn't get the starter first, instead it came with the main courses

It's one of my family's favourite restaurants. I personally have been visiting scalinis for over 10 years. We love the food, variety, drinks, atmosphere, and courteous service. As a perk, it's also good value for money.

It's average. No surprises. You will get an OK meal.

Excellent restaurant experience. You're not going to get high-end food, but is 100% okay. The food is tasty, good portions, great value. Service was exceptional. And it was a pleasant to have a meal. If you're in management at Scalinis - credit to you for hiring the right people, training them properly, and maintaining a high standard. Give thanks to the serving staff too. Plus, the chefs and kitchen staff. All excellent.

This is a regular place for me and I love it, the food and service are always on point and the atmosphere is friendly. Would highly recommend

We regularly eat in Scalinis as my it is my daughter's favourite restaurant. I've always loved the food although the service can be hit or miss. Only downside now is that there has been an increase in prices however the portions are significantly smaller - disappointing.

I love the food in scilini.its always very tasty.but i am dropping 1 star as i dont understand why they have a service charge when ordering online to be deliverd to your home.plus there is a delivery charge.then it asks you if u want to tip the courier.i think its a bit much.

Went here for my birthday meal. Service wasn’t too amazing. Took a while for our order to be taken then our water was forgot and we had to ask for it 3 times from different waiters/waitresses. There wasn’t really an atmosphere as such and very tightly squeezed. Carbonara wasn’t the best. Arancini balls were lovely as were the espresso martinis.

If you Italian then you gotta go here. I wish I lived nearer so I could go more often. Honestly- best pizza i’ve had served me; And i like pizza.

This place was an absolute delight from start to finish. The service was impeccable and nothing was too much trouble. We ordered the kids meals early doors and they didn't take long at all. Kept the boys happy whilst we had antipasti and then main courses. The pizzas were great, the Ragu with Rigatoni was really tasty, but the desserts were all amazing. Really recommend the crepes, sticky toffee pudding, tiramisu and panna cotta. The restaurant is in a great location, decorated beautifully and had a really nice atmosphere. We ate at 18:15 due to young children, but the place was already filling up. Booking online was a doddle too. Would definitely eat here again, and recommend it whole heartedly.

Great atmosphere, staff very attentive, food was incredible (especially the Panna Cotta). Downside was no draught beers. We bought an expensive bottle of wine which was just ok. If I had realised we would have had a cocktail. However, we would eat here again, it was amazing.

Came here on the last night of our holiday. Friendly and prompt service. The food was delicious. Tagliatelle al Salmone was amazing. Desserts were so good.

I love this restaurant as I have for years, the food is still good and so is the wine! The staff are pretty friendly although maybe more communication so during quiet periods we aren't being checked on every two minutes by a new person but I guess too much is better than too little haha! Service is great but definitely recommend setting waiters to certain tables, can be a smoother experience for both servers and customers!

During my stay, I was pleasantly surprised especially by the torta di cioccolato. It is really a delicious chocolate cake served with a hot chocolate sauce. Quelle peine de ne plus pouvoir le déguster !

Lovely food, pizza was one of the best I have ever had. Admittedly service was a bit slow but it is a large restaurant so can be forgiven. Would highly recommend. Me and the wife had a starter each, a main each, shared a dessert and had a drink each, came to around £55 which is about what we normally spend when eating out so the cost I thought was reasonable.

We were recommended this restaurant from a former Queens student and we were really looking forward to an authentic Italian restaurant experience but unfortunately the service did not deliver. Before ordering a pizza, we asked two very specific questions concerning a tomato base and use of whole chucks of garlic. The waitresses answers were completely different to what turned up. However, this isn’t the problem. The problem is the lack of apology from said waitress and the automatic assumption I had an allergy. Needless to say, they very quickly changed the pizza, but the service from that particular staff member significantly reduced following that interaction.

Staff friendly and helpful. Food lovely worth a try. Recommend it.

Fantastic Italian restaurant near to where we stayed in Belfast. Fantastic set up and felt like had been transported to Italy. Food was tasty, served in timely manner and wait staff friendly and helpful. So good we may come back for the second night of our stay

Scalini is definitely the poorer sister of Villa Italia! Food was mediocre at best, quality was poor, didn't taste of much. Garlic bread definitely had no garlic applied. Spag bol was too oily and sauce was a 1/10 and that's being generous. Atmosphere was okay, but would definitely not be back. Hard to mess up Italian cuisine but Scalini has managed that in bucket fulls. You have been "Advised!" If you want a decent Italian experience in Belfast go to Villa Italia. Hard to believe that they are owned by the same family. If I were them I'd have a word with the chefs in Scalini!! Very very disappointed. Also, almost forgot to mention , don't worry about booking as walk ins can get a table before bookings!!!

Really nice fresh pizzas at good prices, and the chocolate crepes for dessert were really tasty too. Some of the staff were really friendly and helpful, but there seemed to be a wee bit of confusion over who was doing what at times and some staff were more helpful than others. Generally though, lovely place that I'd definitely go back to if I was in the area again.

Reasonable selection of food which was of standard quality. Mismanaged staff resulted in confusion over orders whereby several courses had to be returned. Although most tables were occupied, Scalinis' lacked atmosphere which would have helped had staff been pleasant and some music to enhance the joy of dining. Our 2nd time here and most definitely won't be in a hurry to return as there's much better places to dine across Belfast.

Lovely Italian restaurant with good service. A menu to suite everyone and reasonably priced (at Belfast prices) and in-expensive wine. Despite being really packed our party of 8 were served very quickly and all were happy with the food.

A bustling restaurant with unique aesthetic inside. We had the meatballs for antipasti which were great, I had the raviolis and my partner had the lasagne. The raviolis was nice but a little small but the lasagne was really nice and a great size. Staff were lovely.

Scalini is a good, solid Italian. It always seems to be busy so best to book. We stuck with 2 pizzas and we enjoyed them both. I find scalinis under cook their pizzas so I would recommend asking for them to be "well done" and it wasn't a problem for the staff. The staff are all really nice. It does seem a little disorganised at times but food and drinks all magically appear pretty quickly. Prices are all reasonable so it's good value. We will be back!

First visit on Saturday after being advised that this is the sister restaurant to Villa Italia. On arrival a manager directed waiting staff to a table number for us, this was right next to a till/staff point. From the offset this was horrendous with a high number staff continuously bustling around it. We had no privacy whatsoever nor could we relax. This prompted me to ask to be moved which was accomodated but I'd recommend that the table placement needs revised. 9n ordering drinks we were not advised that bottled beer comes in both large and small and were disappointed on realising we could have ordered larger bottles. On trying to gain the attention of a server to order another bottle I was promptly given the bill and had to explain that I was trying to order drinks. The food was nice enough but the overall experience was not.

Good proper wholesome Italian food

First time at this restaurant and I'll definitely be returning. Extensive food & drink menu. The only thing that let them down was the service. Quite a few members of staff working and it wasn't overly busy, yet our empty plates and glasses sat on the table for quite a while. We ended up having to ask for them to be removed. Slight discrepancy on the bill too, but this was quickly amended. Can highly recommend the carbonara

Scalini's is an exceptionally nice Italian restaurant. It is also absolutely beautiful inside. They have decorated the three story restaurant to look like an Italian villa, and they succeeded! The staff are great and the food is wonderful. We liked it so much that we ate there twice during our three day stay in Belfast. The pizza was perfect!

Food was delicious! The atmosphere was great. It would be like Casa Bonita in Denver Colorado if only they had someone in a gondola on an indoor river to top it off. The service was amazing, friendly and a memorable evening.

Used to love coming here but the last few times in the last year it has been the absolute pits!! The staff are uninterested, the food is bland, reheated and of poor quality. I was given a fork and knife to eat spaghetti bolognaise with as opposed to a fork and spoon!! For a pro the senior staff are pleasant but the waiters and waitresses do not care. The place is also looking tired with holes on the table cloths and in general dirty with dust everywhere.

Lovely intimate restaurant for a romantic meal, the food was amazing. The nicest steak I've eaten in a while and the most beautiful mushroom sauce to go with it, my wife loves carbanara and said it was the best ! Also the deserts.... OMG !

We booked a table after seeing reviews before our trip to Belfast, and we were not disappointed. Although we were half an hour early this was no trouble and the team managed to seat us. All of the staff that served us were very pleasant. The food was delicious! We enjoyed a bruscetta as a shared starter, two pasta dishes which were the best pasta we've had outside of Italy and some sides. We really wanted to visit a second time but could not fit it in! The location was great, a short walk from the centre.

This was awful! The pizzas (in an Italian restaurant) were as hard as frisbees! I burnt more calories chewing them than I put on eating them! Coke came in a cardboard sippy cup (no children at our table) service abysmal. Disappointing as a Saturday treat!...

Came here on both Saturday evening and on Sunday and as always the food, service, staff, pricing was simply amazing. Portion and the quality of their food goes hand in hand, the selection of wine's available made me very happy, especially with my absolute favourite (Rioja) which complimented my dish (Primavera) beautifully! One of the very few best Italian restaurant's in Belfast. One thing I would like to see more of on the menu is a wider selection such as salads (Caesar, Caprese etc) that can be sized up or down for both a starter and a main with additional ingredients perhaps but thats just my personal preference. Overall the menu is still varied and each dish is clearly made with love. Squisito! ❤️
