Excellent food with a wide range to choose from.

5/5 Food was amazing!!! The starters were lovely, but the salad is dry, needs a dressing or a side pot of salad cream or something to make it not rabbit food. Main meal, it was nice to find a restaurant that gives you a hot plate to keep your food warm. We asked them to cook the veg so it wasn't al denti and they cooked it to perfection. Steak pie meat was so soft, pie gravy was delicious. Food was great, would 100% go back. Drinks are a bit too pricey, and with the 2 course meal, the jump up for desert which I think was £8pp is a bit too steep.

Good quality food at a reasonable price, first class service

Stopped in here for Sunday roast and was not disappointed. The food was superb, best roast I've had in many years. Roast beef melted in your mouth, and the gravy was fantastic. The service was good as well, staff were friendly and we didn't have to wait long for meal to be served. We will certainly be back and try the A La Carte menu next time we are in Ayr.

We had breakfast last Sunday, it was wonderful I had the eggs Benedict with maple bacon and a tea ( 3 cups in the pot ) and the wife had the small fry up. Great

Disappointing, beef cheeks were dry, poorly seasoned. No draught Tennants or Guinness . Tennants was from a multi can pack and not cold . Wine not cold and at £25 a bottle not value. Pity , used to have a great reputation.

We dined here before a performance at the Gaiety and we weren’t disappointed. The food is always top notch and they cater for coeliacs (not me but someone in my family). Our dinner was absolutely delicious and we will be trying a few of the dishes at home. Great atmosphere, good prices and lovely staff. What’s not to like!

Ate here a few weeks ago for Sunday lunch. The service was very good. The food was very tasty and well presented. The wine was good and the atmosphere was relaxed. Will return soon I am sure.

Staff are friendly and VERY attentive... food is lovely; well cooked, flavoursome and very tasty ... nothing more to say really, except WELL DONE ... loved it ... only had breakfast there, but, if this is typical, wouldn't hesitate to recommend wholeheartedly

Had breakfast this morning with my husband and kids. A little bit expensive but it was really delicious 😋. Never had a bad meal from here so far. Will definitely be back at some point.

Each course ( I had 3 ) complemented the others, I don't know if this was accidental, my imagination or designed. But I left completely satisfied. The wine was also brilliant, so much so, that I ordered a box for home delivery whilst sat at the table.

This restaurant used to be really good but it really has went down hill, getting coffee in a cup that has lip stick on it from a previous customer, then the food order the cajan chips and you lose any sense of taste since there was so much seasoning, then there was the staff who missed the memo about smiling and welcoming to customers

Visited yesterday for lunch, it was only the Xmas menu that was available, didn't think the choice was anything special . Looking at photos other diners have posted the food and choices look amazing, so wouldn't opt to go again for Xmas menu .

We had a breakfast this morning at the Stage Door. As always the food was spot on, allergies attended to, and when they say the plates are hot, they really are. Only four stars for atmosphere from me, because I am a Grinch about Christmas music, I should probably be placed under house arrest for the month of December.

A hidden gem! Located in the foyer of the Gaiety Theatre - but run independently to the theatre. Great service - efficient and always really friendly. The food is really great - some excellent dishes created and prepared with care and an eye for detail, using excellent ingredients. Prices very reasonable. Ate here several times over the course of a week, and was never disappointed. Excellent.

Awesome breakfast for a coeliac. Everthing apart from fruit loaf could be gluten free. My daughter thought she was in heaven.

We visited for breakfast, the staff were very good and restaurant was very clean. I ordered poached eggs on toast which were soft and cooked to perfection, it was a shame they were let down by a taste of vinegar. I will remember to ask for them not to be cooked in vinegar next time! Everyone else enjoyed their breakfasts.

To start off with, the Stage Door Cafe.. what can I say?Is it well worth it's money? Aye!Is the breakfast hot, warm, and tasty? Of course, aye!Is the service amazing and reliable? YES!Overall is it somewhere I'd recommend going for breakfast in the town? OH AYE!I visited the Stage Door Cafe, situated at the Ayr Gaiety Theatre, in Ayr of course to have some breakfast with family. On arrival, they offered us a table and got us quickly seated (without booking) and managed to get our drinks roughly 5-10 minutes into us sitting down, which was very good. Our menu's soon were off the table due to us swiftly ordering our breakfast, the menu had a not bad selection of meals, alongside something smaller for younger ones.Within 10-15 minutes of us ordering our food, it arrived. Very warm, and ready to eat, like it had just freshly been cooked, as we'd been hoping, and we were of course pleased with the time it took, alongside the final outcome of the plates being absolutely cleaned to the core with us eating all of the breakfast due to it being tasty, delicious, and most of all AMAZING.However all I'd say is in the restaurant it can be loud at some points in the morning, depending if there is a large group of people, you can expect it can be loud as it isn't the biggest place the Stage Door, the only negative is noise, it can be loud sometimes, depends on who and when you are there, there is room to move about in the Stage Door, however it can be tight once again, when you are there, depending on times, groups being there, etc. More customers, etc, etc.Overall, I recommend going for a visit for breakfast especially and getting a nice breakfast, small or large, up to you, however the taste is always the same, and never different, and it's tasty!Thanks for reading my review on the Stage Door Cafe at the Ayr Gaiety Theatre in Ayr, Scotland.Your,TripAdvisor, Food & Tourism Reviewer

Not been in a while cant wait to get back

My self and 4 friends had a meal here before a show, early March, service was great very attentive, and the quality and choice of food eas sufficient, friendly busy atmosphere, we would all definitely return.

The food at this cafe beside the Gaiety Theatre in Ayr is always very well presented and delicious to eat. Staff are very friendly too.

Service was a bit slow. A few servers were in but I did wait over 20 minutes just to be served. I saw a few people being served during this time so think they forgot about me. Coffee was a bit cold but was nice. Second one was warmer as I asked for extra hot. So prob in future ask for extra hot coffee. Breakfast was excellent and fue to how good was reason I gave 4 stars. Had 12 items for 8quid and everything on plate was excellent.

Absolutely delicious meal, couldn’t fault It. Best meal we’ve had in Ayr in a long time. Already booked to return for a family birthday dinner. Well done to the chef and all staff

Excellent breakfasts with great choices

Came in here as had a long wait for a bus, I'm so glad I did. I had already had a large breakfast so only ordered a cappuccino but everybody's food looked good. I wasn't turned away even though just getting a hot drink, or rushed, and the staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming. This isnt a place I would have considered unless going to the theatre but I think next time I am visiting Ayr I will go in for some food and enjoy it further, its worth a visit just for that

Value for money, grub was lovely and staff very friendly

The food presentation is superb in the Stagedoor but the staff can do with some training as can be a tiny bit distant. Otherwise the Food is worth it.

Simply the best fry up in Ayrshire, scrambled eggs👌🏻6,9,12 or 15 item fry ups. Keep saying it but it's honestly the best fry up you'll ever have.

Very acceptable meal at the Stage Door cafe, we had the 3 course set meal which offered good selections and the food was hot and tasty. Served in a timely manner and no rush for us to get into the theatre. Waiting staff were friendly and engaged. Only negative comment would be that the desserts were HUGE!, too huge.We will return.

I am surprised by any negative reviews on here as I can only comment on my own recent experience which was very positive. I attended the panto (this year ( which was very good) with my staff from my work and we had booked the restaurant for a meal after the panto. 13 of us arrived around 4.30 around with approx 50 people coming in at the same time which made the restaurant extremely busy. The drinks were served quickly and the food also came out quickly too. The food was piping hot and it was of an excellent standard with large portions. The chefs done a great job sending out all this food to quickly to a very very busy restaurant. I returned the next day with around 30 of my family, ( I know, panto 2 days in a row but it’s a family tradition as one of our family is in the panto), this time for soup and sandwiches before the panto and again the service and food were very good and the staff were very patient as although we tried to control the kids they still managed to run around the place on occasion. All in all I have nothing but positive things to say about this place and I will definitely return soon.

Nice play with some good options on the menu. Our party of 7 enjoyed most of the food and service, except for two issues The person who had the 'fresh' haddock and chips suffered from 24 of food poisoning (they'd only had toast previously that day) and some of us noted that what seemed like the manager had an unrealistic idea of his importance, providing an impersonal level of service and not being especially welcoming.

We had previously visited before the panto last year and once again we enjoyed a nice meal in a nice atmosphere at a decent price before attending this years panto. We will certainly visit again.

Food is good but not my idea of a good restaurant. There are many better in the town . It is handy for pre- theatre meal though. Wines not great either

Went for a meal, the main had a misleading description, didn’t like it, fudge cake was 100% not homemade and ice cream was cheap and not creamy. Won’t be back. Charged us extra as well xx

Lovely, modern restaurant with amazing staff. The cocktails we had tasted delicious. Went through to the pantomime after with family and had the best laugh with family.

Had a lovely meal the lady at the desk on arrival with blond hair was lovely tried her very best to get us a table we where a table of 3 which she didnt have but tried her very best although the girl with the orange hair was terrible she was so unprofessional I will not be returning because of her looks and unwillingly to help she was terrible if u dont like costumers just turning up to order a table please dont work in hospitality

It was our first time here, we usually go to The Hollybush. We had a fantastic lunch here, the staff were very friendly & the food was out of this world, we will definitely be going back again & also it's highly recommended 👍🤩🥰🤩xxxx

The staff are friendly and welcoming, the decor is lovely and the food is fantastic. Visited yesterday with friends, we all choose from the £12 lunch menu, we had the Chicken tempura which was very tasty. Two of us had the macaroni cheese with garlic bread and chips, the portion is huge but so delicious, other friend had the smoked haddock gratin ( i just had to try a forkfull when she offered) it really was mouthwatering.

Great value for the money. Everything you could wish in a cooked breakfast and all freshly cooked, very tasty.

We have previously eaten here and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, good food and good service. However we had heard so much about the great breakfast so decided to give i a try. Every item was priced individually, eg one rasher of bacon etc. Food arrived and was very average. Service, although quick, was certainly not served with a smile. Perhaps this was an off day, but we won’t be back for a long time.

Lovely pre theatre meal before the ballet with a friend. Our first table was in a draughty position in front of the door, but we were moved without hesitation to a different table when we asked. We both had two courses, fish and chips, which was excellent, and two different desserts. My friend’s Elton Mess was very nice, but my Baileys Cheesecake was let down slightly by the fact the biscuit crumbs were loose and so stuck round the bottom of the ice cream . Not the best texture. Perhaps it was the intention to be a deconstructed cheese cake, but I prefer one with a crunchy biscuit base. It still tasted ok. We had time for a relaxing coffee before the theatre, and we enjoyed the meal.

Good food good prices and really friendly and helpful staff

A friend and I booked a pre-theatre supper on 8 October 2019. My friend had pork belly which she said was crips and tasty. I had lamb cutlets which were of uneven thickness so one was somewhat overdone and tough. The other was OK. The vegetable were "crunchy". Curried parsnip soup to start was very tasty. Bread roll was soft, whereas I prefer a crusty roll. However, for £20 a head with a large glass of wine it was excellent value.

Visited here while on our trip (From Australia)and had an amazing meal, it was so good to be able to eat out as a group of coeliac's, Staff were friendly too. Definitely will be worth a visit when I'm next in that part of the world.

Pretty average meal. Daughter enjoyed it which was main thing. Will stick to their breakfast. Staff member serving would have been hard pushed to have less enthusiasm about her work. Also found a hair within my burger towards the end of eating it. I got a "sorry"....

We go here for a breakfast treat occasionally, but I'd eat breakfast here every day if it didn't mean I'd put on a ton of weight. It's the most extensive menu I've ever known, and it has things on it you just dont get anywhere else, like fruit pudding and the best fried bread ever. I love how you can choose exactly what you want from the menu too, meaning you get it tailored perfectly. The food itself us always excellent quality, piping hot and cooked to perfection. Dont ever change how you do this, Stagedoor - you are perfect (and please dont ever remove fruit pudding from the menu as it's my ultimate favourite!)

Stage door was exceptional as usual, it's the reason we come through from Dunfermline 5or6 time's a year, I am coealic and the food is first class as is the staff always very knowledgeable and extremely friendly

Fantadtic restaurant and so attentive my daughter has multiple food allergies and they were amazing with her and the chef even sorted her out her own special meal. Will definitely be back here.
