Perfect café for breakfast/brunch with reservation required as the place is small and rather popular. We enjoyed The Scotsman and Full Breakfast. The place is really very cute and the atmosphere warm (small downside on the ventilation/extraction of kitchen odors but that will not prevent us from returning there if we have the opportunity).

Simply spectacular, the toast with avocado, salmon, egg and arugula is delicious, it doesn't seem like it but it fills you up a lot. The pancakes with pistachio and red fruit coulis are also divine... and the coffee is 10/10. It is a bit expensive, the bill was, as I remember, about £47 for two plates of toast, two coffees and the pancakes... but if you are in Edinburgh it is difficult to get something cheap, at least paying for something that is good seems right to me.

Excellent breakfast! The food was fresh and tasty. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. Next time, we will try the pancakes as they looked absolutely appetising, but we were too full to give it a go.

Quirky little brunch spot in New Town. The chefs and staff are super friendly, and the playlist will brighten your day. Try the avocado toast/eggs with the lemon-herb drizzle and the whisky-peanut butter pancakes!

We had an absolutely fabulous breakfast here whilst in Edinburgh, a real hidden gem! Great food and friendly staff. Would recommend booking in advance as gets very busy.

Food was mostly good once it arrived. Service was very slow, had to wait 50 minutes for two paninis and a salad. No apologies were made for the delay despite the cafe being nearly empty. Would only recommend if you're happy waiting a while for food. Service needs to improve.

Certainly the place in Edinburgh that I will remember best when it comes to breakfasts. It was simply excellent! Perfect, quality breakfasts, served with a smile. An adorable team! When I come back to Edinburgh I will definitely go back to Tani Modi =)

We randomly found this brunch house whilst walking past, it did not disappoint at ALL. One of the best mochas I’ve ever had, the salmon and scrambled egg on avocado sourdough was fantastic. The Nutella pancakes were great too. It was clean, vibrant and the service was A1!

Their Bagel filled with Mushroom, Brie and Hummus was not the best. It feels like something I can make at home. There was no special touch to it. Same as their Cajun Chicken Ciabatta. We might have just ordered the wrong food. Though their pancake and hot chocolate looks epic (i might come back to try those)! It took about 40 mins for them to serve our food. Waiter was lovely tho, he apologised for it. It feels quite crammed and hectic when it’s busy.

Superb atmosphere, really very good breakfast, reservation at 9 a.m., there was no one there and it was quiet Very welcoming staff, it feels good. It was the perfect start to a beautiful day. THANKS

Couldn’t fault this place at all! An amazing brunch with exceptional service. The pistachio pancakes were incredible. So glad we found this place on our trip to Edinburgh. Will recommend to everyone!

The pancakes are very delicious, as is the Italian chocolate. Perhaps, the place is missing a plus. But as far as food goes, perfect.

I went there at morning, I saw the server finished the payment with another table of customer. I asked him to pay the bill，he ignored me, put machine away and then did other stuffs-refilled cups, delivered plates. He passed our table several times but did not want to bring the machine for me. Lastly, i had to go to the counter to pay the bill. They don't know a lot of Chinese recommended them on social media without asking for any commission, this is just like a free ads, but i don't understand why they treat us differently with others.

Everyone here is so nice !! The food was quick and yummy, and it wasn’t overcrowded !! 10/10

Food was really good especially the pancakes but £3 for a very small glass of orange juice with is even fresh!!!!! . Our server was lovely so friendly and attentive but was on her own in a full busy cafe. There is also seemed to be a heated discussion going on with owner and server which made for a very uncomfortable atmosphere. Toilets are awful old dirty hand dryers on the wall wires hanging out plastic bags wrapped around dryers with tape, mouldy tiles and no hot water. Could be a great little place but really quite dirty. For the prices being charged even for Edinburgh they could afford another server and someone to take the dirty old hand dryers off the wall and clean the black mould of the tiles

The pancake is a great choice for whoever wants to have a brunch here. The pistachio one is really tasty and nice.

We had breakfast here today and were very impressed! The employees were all very nice and happy. The food was really delicious! Both the pancakes with pistachio cream and the bagel were great! Unfortunately it was our last day in Edinburgh. But we can definitely recommend this place! You can also reserve via Google Maps without any problems. See you next time!

Top place for Scotish/English breakfest!

Food delicious and lovely place. Recommend the pancakes however was missing the whipped cream it said was included on the menu hence the 4/5 stars.

My boyfriend and I shared the poached eggs with avocado and salmon & the pancakes with glazed peaches. The food and all the drinks we ordered were perfect and a 10/10. The service was also excellent. We’re definitely coming back! :)

Food was delicious and well-presented. Staff were lovely. We went for a Saturday brunch and the place was packed, so I would definitely book in advance!

We ordered a cup of chamomile tea, which came with hair in the cup. It was disgusting. We told the staff but they didn't apologise, they just brought us another cup and tea bag. The pancakes were not good either. We ordered the brown sugar glazed peaches & lemon sauce pancakes, and they just served us composted peaches with pancakes. We told the staff and again no apologies. The coffee didn't taste good either. They charged us the full bill at the end. When we left our clothes and hair smelled like fried food. I do not recommend this place.

Be sure to make an appointment in advance and arrive on time, we were about fifteen minutes late and the store was full, we waited about fifteen minutes before sitting down. Since my friend and I would like to sample more things, the two of us ordered a total of three servings, we were so full that we didn't finish everything. And the pancakes are very fluffy and delicious, highly recommended.

I’ve been here a few times for their meatball panini (also great) but was this time I blown away by the pistachio pancakes. Possibly the best pancakes I’ve ever had! My friend had the blueberry pancakes made vegan and also really enjoyed their meal. I would recommend booking a table as it fills up quickly for a small cafe. Staff are always so friendly and helpful.

The best pancakes I have had in a long time! You must have the pistachio cream ones. The only down side is the orange/apple juice is £3 which is crazy as it is served in a tiny glass!

We went there for our daughter birthday breakfast, been before and will go again. Its a busy place so booking is recommended. The food, the service, the place all spot on, top restaurant, lovely!

Holy cow. Okay so this place has ruined everywhere else for me. Breakfast was divine - every scrap of it. Coffee was liquid heaven. Can't recommend enough! Extremely popular with good reason so reservations recommended!

It was...fine. I don't think it was anything particularly special, scrambled eggs were a bit tasteless, potato scones weren't properly cooked and the staff were nice if a little overwhelmed. We had to ask for things a few times and the person who was seating you just seemed really unhappy.

We came for the Pistachio Pancakes - unfortunately they were out of pistachio cream. We asked for fried eggs without egg yolk, but got told: „we dont do that here“… Granola and the bread with avocado and poached eggs were good.

Absolutely delicious. We got the full breakfast and the pancakes, and we were so stuffed. Great food. The mocha was the best I've had here. Rich and creamy, almost hot chocolate honestly. Wish I could steal their recipe for that! Will absolutely be back when we visit Edinburgh again.

Despite the restaurant not being busy (for most of the time there were more members of staff than occupied tables), the service was painfully slow. 15 minutes for coffee to arrive and a second cup ordered never arrived. The staff did not know if the orange juice was fresh without checking and the breakfast arrived with several components missing. 2 of the 4 orders were incorrect when they arrived. The food itself was OK but nothing special

Tout petit café (réservation obligatoire si vous voulez y aller !), très joli et tranquille. Tout le personnel est souriant et chaleureux. Les plats sont délicieux, les pancakes exceptionnels. Vraiment une bonne adresse pour déguster brunch à Édimbourg.

This place is such a hidden gem. The food is super affordable for the city, the pancakes were amazing and service was speedy. They were also able to adjust to gluten free and vegan- a rarity for sure!

Fantásticos desayunos!! Tanto dulces como salados. Estaban increíblemente buenos y se veían muy caseros. Muy buen café también. No es barato pero merece la pena. Tuvieron un par de problemillas cuando nos atendieron, pero supieron compensarlo. La verdad es que al final fue el local en el que más se responsabilizaron de nuestra atención. Totalmente recomendable

En un huequecito, en uno de los bajos de la calle, nos encontramos con este “Brunch house” donde puedes desayunar, comer, o cenar, dependiendo de la necesidad del momento y del horario, pero ojo, va mucha gente porque la cocina vale la pena, y si no has reservado a lo mejor ni puedes entrar, o tienes que esperar demasiado. Es más bien pequeño.

There's more to this place than brunch (but it was good!) Proudly from Rimini, they welcomed me and found me a table, even though they were deservedly busy.

Horrendous service, some of the staff isn't attentive, and just chatting away at the back of the restaurant while customers are waiting at the doorfor a seat. This young waiter then just nonchalantly started chatting with the good looking lady at the back of the queue instead of attending to the queuing customers. Worse of all, gleefully tell us there's no seat for us. Come on you could've told us 10 mins ago. What a horrible waste of time. If you look at the lowest rated review it's all examples of similar stories. It's a shame because it's highly rated for food by many.

Not sure about the food. My experience is really bad due to an unprofessional waiter in mint T-shirt. I apologise to interrupt you chatting and flirting other customers and I am sorry for not being born in white and probably several years earlier to be treated as an attractive young may be naive customer for you to spend sometime checking if you got a table or not ONLY. To the owner: please DO keep this young guy as long as you can I truly don’t want to meet him again somewhere else.

Absolutely incredible food! How good can your usual mushrooms, eggs, ciabatta sandwiches be? So amazing, everything was perfectly seasoned, and you could tell that the produce was special! 10/10 would come back.

We had avocado toast , bagel with salmon and cream cheese and pancakes . All the food was flavorful, delicious and fresh . Coffee and hot chocolate were perfect . Recommend!

Very nice cafe, great range of GF options but £8 for 1 very small cheese and ham toastie was a lot!! Service time was good. Order taken within 5 minutes of being seated and food was delivered within 30 minutes on a Saturday morning. Food and service was great but too expensive for what was delivered. I would say either increase the portion or lower the price
