The Caddy Mann Restaurant in Scottish Borders

First time eating at this restaurant. What an amazing meal. I had the Sirloin steak. My wife had the half and half.(roast beef and lamb). Excellent produce cooked to perfection. All the vegetables accompanying the meal were a revelation. Never knew such flavour could be imparted into carrots, leeks, potatoes and chips. FANTASTIC.

Beautiful food, staff were lovely from start to finish, 43 of us went for a meal, starters were well presented and delicious, same for main course, the lamb was to die for, wonderful, an absolutely amazing experience and highly recommend a visit, nothing was too much trouble and all the staff are an absolute credit to the venue, reasonable prices and a lovely friendly welcoming attitude. Impressive.

On a recommendation decided to try this Borders eatery. Great choice! Welcoming entrance by owner, the food was exceptional. Fantastic menu choices, great variety. Beautifully presented, full on flavour- service was relaxed but on point. Nice and cosy, a very much relaxed feel, would suggest adding a little background music to enhance the atmosphere but what’s not to like about this place. So nice to find a restaurant offering exceptional food in the Borders. Definite return on the cards. One thing that should be looked at- the car park needs some lighting when leaving, now that we are heading into the dark winter months...

Dropped in to The Caddy Mann for Sunday lunch. Good parking right at the door, nice property, dogs welcome and the staff friendly and attentive. The food was exceptional. A beautiful, feather light cheese souffle to start and then a really good plate for roast beef with all the trimmings. My husband had the chicken stuffed with haggis and it was excellent. Portions are hearty and everything has been cooked with care and love to a high restaurant standard. To finish we shared a sticky toffee pudding and ice cream all home made. It was really so nice to go somewhere and get what you were promised in the advertising. Having just finished a road trip, where there were many promises but a lot of them broken on the food front, I am delighted to say that was certainly NOT the case at the Caddy Mann. Ross is clearly a highly talented chef and his wife Lynne a great front of house hostess. The price we paid was extremely reasonable and we had such a good meal, my husband volunteered to drive us the 160 mile round trip so we could have another lunch......its already booked!

Return visit in August for family lunch. Grouse starter, beef and haggis, peppercorn sauce done in a Yorkshire pudding crepe. Followed by an apple desert. Good options on the lunch menu. I can recommend a visit.

We had the pleasure of visiting The Caddy Man for Sunday Lunch today with friends who had not eaten here before.Our friends who are well travelled were quite simply blown away with the service and the outstanding quality of food provided stating that this was the best Sunday Lunch they had experienced a view also confirmed by ourselves.Simply outstanding food and service from a family run award winning venue which is an absolute credit to the Borders.

Incredible food and service, The Caddy Mann is top of our list. Lynne always gives us a warm welcome and the young waitresses are friendly and well trained. The Sunday lunch is amazing, the best beef I have tasted in the Borders, my husband loves the lamb; they offer half and half with beef and lamb so you can try both. The food is locally sourced so super fresh- farm to table in an elevated way. They have a good selection of wine and it is not overpriced. The restaurant gets very busy, so to avoid disappointment, it's best to book in advance!

We visited here for Sunday lunch. The restaurant itself is quirky and makes it difficult as to what to expect in terms of food. It probably hints toward homely or rustic cooking but when we saw the menu it was clear that this place takes food very seriously. We expected just a few choices for Sunday lunch but the menu is extensive and interesting. Whilst we were waiting for service and our food, we noted that everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing. We did both choose the lamb Sunday lunch, but we were so intrigued by the K.F.C. (Korean Fried Chicken) starter and we ordered one to share. When this was presented to us we realised it was going to be special. The presentation was on a par with some of the best restaurants we have been in. The flavour of the chicken and slaw was amazing. My wife claims that it was one of the best starters she has ever had (and I agree). The lamb dish was very good. The lamb itself came in 2 round parcels that just fell apart. The flavour was intense. We asked for roast potatoes as we didn’t realised this dish did not come with them. This was no problem and served to us really quickly. I must also add that the service was very good and all tables seemed to get the right amount of attention and like us, was served efficiently.

Fabulous place :) We came for Easter Sunday lunch, last ones in at 2pm. A lovely venue, a cross between a cosy restaurant and your families dining room. Staff were really friendly and even though they had run out of beef for their half and half menu option (which was fine as we were debating what to have anyway) we were offered several alternatives which we were more than happy to have. While we were there a couple popped in on the off chance. Whilst they were too late, the owner was so lovely offering other places to eat and even a biscuit for their dog. Highly recommended. And we even had a chat afterwards with suggestions of places to visit while on our holidays. Thanks for making our Easter xx

An excellent lunch in comfy and friendly surroundings. We had 2 dogs and they were made to feel very welcome and given dog treats. Our Sunday lunch was sublime. Highly recommend the half and half. Everyone enjoyed their meals and well worth making the journey from Norfolk for. Simply delicious

We had a fabulous celebration meal here. Woodcock starter followed by venison both of which were delicious. The owners kindly let us stay in our campervan in the carpark which was the icing on the cake. Many thanks Looking forward to our next visit. Service was welcoming and friendly. Menu was interesting and enjoyed the variety of game available. Woodcock and goose starters were very tasty. Rabbit and hare mains were both average, nice but not exceptional. Desert was 50/50. Great white chocolate mousse but the rhubarb tart was disappointing.

The menu choices were excellent, making choices very difficult! They had an excellent vegetarian menu too for one of our guests.The staff were very attentive, friendly and professional. The portions were just right - not to small and not too large that you felt bad if you had to leave food. We were even allowed to take our own birthday cake for 'the birthday boy'. We were walked to our booked table. There were clear instructions when visiting the toilet. All the tables were spaced well apart from each other. I understand the menu is changed daily and mainly consists of local game and all local other produce.

Came back to the Caddy Mann for our first meal out since lockdown as this place is a firm favourite with us. Impressed with the new layout and decor, everything was spotless and we felt really safe as the staff were obviously adhering to the new safety guidelines. Lots of hand sanitiser everywhere, even on each dining table. Staff were all wearing masks, and we wore ours when we weren’t at our table, for visiting loo etc. The sun shone so we chose to sit outside at the new al fresco dining area. The food, as always, was delicious! Still lots of options to choose from, everything was freshly prepared, generous and so tasty. I had garlic prawns with bacon and mushrooms on sourdough toast, followed by sea bass on haddock risotto with tender stem broccoli and crispy leeks. Also admit, we ordered ‘real proper chips’ as a side. It was like seeing old friends again! They are so good! We received a lovely welcome from the front of house team, who are genuinely warm and cheerful in these challenging times. We totally appreciate all the extra hard work that goes into keeping us all safe. There is a new booking system in place so the restaurant doesn’t get crowded. I’d recommend booking well in advance as this is a really popular restaurant! We have already booked for our next visit! A welcome return to a really fabulous restaurant, long may it continue!

Four of us ate here last weekend. First rate food and service - and importantly excellent Covid preparedness. Game pie and lamb mains went down especially well. Excellent (and huge) plum crumble too. Not bargain basement prices but definitely good value. Recommended.

As hoteliers we don’t often have the chance to eat out but with the current opportunities afforded with the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, we thought we’d get out and about to try places we’ve not been to before. Today we visited the Caddy Mann and have to say the food is way above the quality we’ve had so far. The options were impressive and although spoiled for choice, we opted for the Sea Bass, Duck and Lamb dishes all of which were exceptional. Service was both friendly and attentive, making you feel genuinely welcome. It’s obvious this establishment has a pride in both what they serve and how it’s served and can’t recommend it enough to any diner looking to experience a quality meal. We will most certainly be back......and soon.....we’ll done!

Had the absolute pleasure to dine here with my daughter. It is simply stunning. We both agreed it was the best ever food we had eaten. Perfect. Every thing on the plate just worked with each other. The balance of flavours and textures throughout the course of the meal just made it a joy to savour. Very very talented team. I would happily do the journey from my home in Gloucestershire again and again just to eat here. Thank you all so much.

Visited The Caddy Mann for the first time today and what an amazing lunch we had. We were celebrating my daughter's 21st Birthday and it was the families' first outing since the start of lockdown. We will definitely be back. The roast lamb was absolutely the best I've had and the atmosphere and service was perfect.Thank you Ross and Lynne and good luck for the future.

This was our first outing since the lockdown. So why here? Safe. Plenty of space and good safety regime plus outside tables if you are lucky with the weather. Since our last visit the antiques are gone and the decor is a tasful dove grey which is enlivened by art work. The menus are wipe clean and easy to read. We started with the pigeon and my wife followed up with a small portion of fish and chips whilst l had pork. We are elderly and not big eaters but that was not a problem. In addition l have to be wary of fatty meals. Lynne steered through the new systems for what was a very nice meal in a restaurant which we have been visiting for 20 years. The quality has been recgnised by first prize in the small restaurant section. well deserved for consistency over the years. This is not a one off, We shall be back.

Due to temporary closure in respect of government advice to combat the coronavirus, the Caddy Mann offered takeaway lunch today on their last day of trading for the meantime....My hubby and I (along with many others by the look of things) took up this offer in order to show our support to such a wonderful restaurant in which we have had many great meals with friends and family from far and wide. Even with the challenge of doing takeaways at the very last minute, as ever, the food was absolutely delicious and the menu inventive. Let’s hope we all get through this difficult time and come out at the other end healthy and well. I’ll be first in the long queue to book a table when you re-open. Wishing Ross, Lynne and all their staff all the very best. And of course, the local squirrels....

Just had a fantastic lunch at The Caddy Mann, good selection and quite different from the norm around here. Really good food, service and the portions are not shabby either, well worth the visit. Got to try the evening meal next and going by today, it won't be long before we do.

After a trip to Hawick to the Borders Distillery my husband & I stopped here for lunch. It’s the second time we’ve been although the last time was about 2 years ago and it’s still as good now as it was then. For a Saturday lunchtime it was very busy but the food was first class. The pork meatballs in sauce I had for a starter were the best I’ve ever tasted. Everything is freshly cooked and was delicious. This was a post Valentines Day treat for us and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

My friend had the chicken with haggis which came with seasonal veg. We were too full for puddings but a nearby table all managed three courses. Well done them. I've visited The Caddy mann restaurant several times and it's always a pleasurable experience. It's situated in a lovely, and accessible, part of the Scottish Borders.There's ample parking just next to the restaurant, which I like. The first thing that's noticeable on entry is the delightful aroma of food and an open fire. Then you notice the casual, rural rustic but quirky interior. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, and this all adds up to a relaxed and comforting experience. Then there's the food, wow. The menu is varied and adapts with the season, so there's always something new to try. Essentially the menu is built around local produce; be it farm or game or wild. But, It's not just the sourcing of quality local ingredients, it's also the skill with which they are prepared, and the attention to detail. No shortcuts here. In every mouthful you can taste all this and can't help but appreciate the chef's ability flair. This is food cooked from the heart with love. I highly reccommend it

We (a party of 3) visited The Caddy Mann to celebrate a 50th birthday. We only booked the day before hand requested vegan and gluten free dishes.
