Fish and chip was nice but the portion size was on the small side for the price, considering how cheap potatoes are this was rather miserly. Won't be back.

Size of my fish was only positive part. Everything was almost drowning in fat. Onion rings should be renamed oil rings. The strangest thing is that the fries, even though they were dripping with fat, were not fried but undercooked (I found some that were almost raw). I understand that it was quite a busy evening, and that could explain some issues but I probably won't go back there.

Wonderful friendly, helpful and thoughtful staff. Sitting outside in the sunshine. They brought our order to us and we enjoyed watching the world go by. Chicken wrap meal and chicken goujon meal both very tasty.

I ordered some wraps on the app subtracted all the toppings I didn’t want. I then showed up to get my food and went home to eat it when I opened the wraps it had all the food I had subtracted making it inedible I then called them up where I was told I was wrong and didn’t look at the app correctly even though me and my sister and my friend where all looking at my phone and checking. I thought the issue was resolved and went to pick up the wraps even tho all the rest of my food would be cold. Anyway get there and the staff re explain the whole issue saying ‘they shouldn’t replace it’ and blaming me for their problem taking no accountability they then continued talking to me as if I was incompetent. The staff are extremely rude and treated me as if I was an imbecile even cut my off while I was talking putting there finger up saying ‘I’m talking’ I don’t know if that’s how they treat all the customers or whether it was because I was 19 but either way I will be telling my family and friends about there service. Over all average food and staff that should be working in a job where they don’t have to interact with customers. I hope everyone who works there has the day they deserve.

Chicken fillet burger was dire. It was left sitting out for some time and reheated. Brown and soggy. Terrible, not fit for a dog

Excellent fish & chips - I’m glad I don’t live in this town as I’d likely be a frequent customer and my weight would double in very short order. The cod was chunky fresh, sweet and delicious. The just perfect chips from a dry fluffy potato like Maris Piper (waxy spuds would be awful). Five star all the way. I’d noted this place long ago, years in fact, as it kept winning annual British fish and chip awards as top in Northern Ireland and I see why. My food was delicious and even after price rises it was still good value. So I rant on about unhealthy junk food but if you analyse it, fish and chips are mostly fat and crap free and can’t be filled with saturated fat, cheap sugars or artificial chemicals. The only unhealthy things are the batter, usually flour, water, salt (in the batter and on the food) baking soda and salt and the frying medium which if you really want the tastiest fish and chips is beef dripping. There’s no substitute for battered fish and chips, fried in beef fat and well salted, as it gives such a fabulous taste. If you like vinegar the taste is lifted to a whole other level. The more posh places fry in ‘healthier’ ground nut oils and charge more, but their numbers have retreated here. I work on that old adage ‘a little of what you fancy does you good’ I just struggle to define ‘a little’.

Nothing as satisfying as traditional Fish & Chips on a Friday. I hadn't pre ordered but my food was ready within minutes. Well worth a visit (or in my case a drive). 🐬 Recommended 🐬

My wife and myself visited on a busy Friday evening. The service was quick and efficient alongside the food being the best we can remember from any takeaway! The shop was clean and the service was very pleasant, we would highly recommend and will be visiting again shortly I am sure.

For years I've read all the good reviews about this place and finally tried it and am afraid I was disappointed.the staff were very good but everything was very rushed so it maybe shouldn't have been a surprise my fish was overcooked and swimming in grease.the onions rings were good but the battered mushrooms I got were so soaked in oil that I ended up throwing them away.since this my first time ill give them another go and if is improvement I'll remove this review and if not I'll let it stand that I've found other fish and chip shops in the same area with better quality food.

Really disappointing meal. I ordered a portion of cod fish gougons and chips...£8.25, happy to pay for some quality but received a small portion (compared to what I have had here previously) and the food was really so so...actually it was pretty bad. This is a chipper that apparently has received a number of awards??? Do they present these awards to themselves??? A food joint that is well past its best and needs to get back to basics. Don’t believe the hype.

Ordered 2 fish suppers and scampi and we were delighted with all. Staff were friendly, despite being so busy and in the current climate. I made a mistake in my order but this was no problem to the staff. Highly recommend their tartar sauce. Looking forward to our next visit.

I hadn't been to the Dolphin in a decade despite living close by, but I was persuaded by friends that it was the place to go for a Friday night chippy. They had a professional app that looked user firendly and as if it would make the ordering process easier. Combined with the mountain of awards they have won I decided it was time I gave them another go. We ordered some milkshakes, large chips, cheesy chips, beef burgers, chicken fillet burgers and a couple of fish. I immediately noted the price was noticably more than other chippers we frequent but assumed that for such a modern and award winning establishment this would be a case of getting what we paid for. We ordered early in the day and gave a pick up time after work. I lifted my mates and we swung by thinking it would be a quick pickup. What a laugh! We ended up having to wait 1hr and 5mins over our assigned pickup time for our food. I almost ate my own arm I was so hungry. In the time I waited they could have grown the spuds, slaughtered some cattle and killed some chickens fresh to make our meals. When we finally got the food the 'large' milkshakes were ridiculously small despite costing £3 a pop. I genuinely asked my mate if they had gotten the size wrong and given him a small but he insisted that was a large. Ridiculous. The chips were obviously undercooked when we took them out of the bag. They were soggy and a pale yellow verging on sickly white. The beef and chicken fillet burgers were actually really nice and the only decent parts of the whole thing. Quality meat and well cooked. The supposed award winning fish however was soggy and it took some serious digging through batter to find the fish. The cheesy chip was a decent size with frshly grated cheese but was also let down by undercooked chips. Overall this was a disappointing trip. It was a decade from I last entered the Dolphin in Dungannon and it will be another decade again before I darken their doorway. The food is over rated and the higher prices do not reflect a better service or food quality. The app is a nice novelty but there is obviously flawed implementation considering we had to wait so long after our pickup time. The shop itself was clean and very modern looking but alas like everything else the Dolphin seems to be all flash and no substance.

The burger and fish were lovely but the chips were undercooked. Considering I had ordered via the app and then still had to wait an extra 50minutes past my pick up time for my food...well it just wasn't good enough. The app ordering is meant to give you live Updates of your order progress but it doesn't work so you still have to stand outside the store and listen for your order to be called out over speakers. The kids meal option includes a hard lollipop which is an unsafe choice to give as a standard addition to a kids meal. Considering the higher prices compared to other chip shops near by, the hype of expectation from all the awards and then the let down of the wait and poor chips...well, I was disappointed on the whole and won't be back for a long time.

Given a fair few chances to prove themselves and have failed every time drove from portadown to their establishment 3 times now and every time have messed up the order with not even the slightest resemblance to what was ordered... even ordered a chicken supper to get home and get no chicken also asked for battered sausage and chip ended up with beans on chips rang them hoping for a solution but where no help at all wouldn't recommend at all... dont normally write reviews but just trying to save anyone the hassle and time as i wouldn't waste mine going back

Our usual chippy was extremely busy on Christmas Eve so instead of waiting we thought we'd give the Dolphin a try as we hadn't been in years. Big mistake. Burgers were very poor quality, tasted cheap and nasty. Lettuce was brown and rotting. Chips were terrible. We won't make that mistake again, should have just waited for our usual, there is a reason it's always busy!!

Just had fish supper, worst I've had in years, was like rubber and more batter than fish, chips weren't much better.

Tuesday 4th August web site says open at 4 30 as it was 3 45 decided to wait its no 5 05 no sign of life no phone message to inform customers whats happening . V poor. PG chips here i come.

Really good chippy been a few time now cod and cod coujons are spot on chicken coujons are lovely and so is the fully loaded buger. Fantastic service as well.

Probably one of the best Chippys in Dungannon. The staff are very friendly and will talk away to you while preparing your order. The fish served here are better than anywhere else in the town. Usually fast to get your food ready and good prices as well.

Worse bag of chips I have ever had , and that’s a fact , one value for money is poor -£2.80 for a scoop and bit of chips- maybe two potatoes worth , some were fresh and very hot others were just warm, and to add to my disappointment with the value and quality, I find a piece of what I believe is a piece of dirty paper towel- top job -

Seen the awards - drove to Dungannon from Portadown to try. First off the chips where not cooked correctly to get a proper chip. From the moment the potatoes where peeled the correct process was not carried out and it showed in the end product - tasted greasy, rubber texture, swrivelled exterior - where was the golden peak gain chip that "The Best in NI" should have. Poor choice of potato too at this time of year there are vast superior spuds about. Fish was okay but a thin batter with not much crunch and it was under a mound of sweating damp chips that compounded the matter - on the plus side it was good fish and tasted like decent cod does. The lemon was totally unacceptable. The fact that this establishment would give this out to customers is beyond a joke, its shameful - it was off, dried up - really the owner of this place should be raging that the chips went out sub standard but to be handed out food well passed it is a disgrace for any eatery that has any pride in what it does. The Tartar suace was ok but was not tartar suace, no parsley, pickle - tasted like and looked like finely blitzed mass produced colslaw, it tasted ok but it wasn't tartar suace Other meal was the Taco Chip (Mince) - the taco mince was soo dry and lacked and distinctive flavour or taste - was mince with some onions done in canned tomato suace - real run of the mil stuff, very little spice, more akin to a crap bolognese that your granny would make but very very dry. Cheap ass fake mozzarella cheese with a brutal mass produced taco suace, all on top of those crap chips.Terrible meal No way is this the best chippy in NI - NO WAY. The owner defo reads these reviews and I hope he takes them constructively, maybe he was not there to oversee this order but I am sure he is raging reading such criticism, I would if i had a place that proudly displays its awards but fails to deliver on them and the premium on the board.

This is the best takeaway for fish and chips - and it's official - the Dolphin has consistently won awards at national level. It's fish is cooked perfectly - the batter is really tasty and light and their chips are great also.

Nice clean chippy but the awards flatter the place !! Had the 'deluxe' fish supper which isn't cheap for what you get. The tub of mushy peas is tiny, the tartare sauce you can keep and there was so much oil coming off the fish that I'm the surprised the yanks didn't try and invade the plate !!!

Ordered food from here and headed home. One of the items was a chip with gravy. It was packed in the paper bag on its side. By the time i got home the gravy was all over the bag and none on the chips. Being a paper bag it feel apart. Food does taste good though, just need to brush up on their packing skills.

The reason why this place does not get the 5 star treatment from me. Been going to this place on and off for a few months. They generally do fish and chips to a high standard; when you get a good day it’s 5 stars all day long. The fish is fresh and the chips are full of flavour and both are cooked to perfection. However there are times when it goes wrong. Fish can be overly greasy and not as fresh and chips can be bland and taste poor. Inconsistencies like this bring it down. Portion sizes can range from gut busting to something you’d give at slimming world! Fortunately most of the time it is usually good and most worth a visit if you are in the area. It’s great that a takeaway like this earns the recognition and awards they deserve when they get it right

Used to buy from here all the time but the portions have been getting smaller and smaller!!Gave it another go because i could not get through to their rivals up the street ( who are much better and busier i might add)Anyway, they messed up the order ( not the first time) so i rang up to let them know in case their till etc is out, but got some wee smart mouth who argued the toss on the phone that i had not ordered this and that etc!I know what i ordered kid and Big Macs, Terry Su's and Bengal Spice don't mess up orders and will be getting all our future orders thanks!

Then i rememerd about this chiip shop in dungannon who have won many awards. Made my way over and got a dulux fish supper meal. And it was the nicest fish and chips ive had in long time superb! Homemade tartr sause and slice of limon to finsh! Keep up thr good wotk!

Read in the daily mail this week how The Dolphin was voted best chippy & I cannot disagree. Chips were chunky, fluffy in the middle & cod was a good size & very tasty. Definitely will be back!

We took a 35 mile jaunt up the M1 to Dungannon to sample the best that The Dolphin had to offer after reading numerous stories on how Malachy and his team winnng Best Chippy 3 years running!I phoned 45mins ahead & ordered 2 Cod & small chip and headed of giving plenty time arriving spot on time, my wife collected as arranged all very good so far.We drove 3 mins parked up to sample this much acclaimed and awarded food.It was OK!, OK not excellent just OK! We have had much better from Pit Stop Killeen and much much better from John Longs in Belfast or Hunts. Moss Rd Lambeg or Eats, Dunmurry.Sorry Malachy we found your service good, food OK!

Took a drive to dungannon to try this fish and chip place after hearing about all the awards that it had received over the lsst few years. We ordered 2 cod suppers with peas extra. Not the cheapest ive had but i dont mind paying extra if its going to be good.The premises looked very clean and the menu was well presented on lcd screens. As our drive home was over 20 miles we ate in the car. The food itself was just ok . I found the batter on the fish albeit crispy was very fatty and i constantly had to wipe the fat off my hands and the chips where just ok and the least i would expect of a shop with this reputation and pricing! The thing that ruined it totally for me was that i asked for salt and no vinger but there was so much salt on the fish i couldnt eat it. I sure this place has better days just wasnt lastnight.

The dolphin is hands down the best fish & chip shop I have ever been to. The standard they keep is ridiculously high and they have a wide range of gluten free options. I have been going regularly for the past 2 years and I can't recall ever getting a bad order out of the place. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. 5 stars all around.

Without doubt the tastiest piece of battered cod I have ever tasted .The owner malachy chatted away while I waited and the staff very friendly . will definitely be back.

Our last visit here was in June and we are not planning to return. Service is always lukewarm but on this occasion the food was dire. Two fish suppers were ordered and the fat oozed out of the boxes. Difficult to locate the fish inside the soggy batter. Chicken goujons were overcooked and hard. Scandalously expensive for third rate food. Yes the premises appear clean but staff are not always so particular. One wiped their mouth with their hand then proceeded to wrap up food. There are much better fish and chips to be had locally and at much better prices too. A premium is charged for winning an award at a point in time but standard appear to have fallen.

Regularmente visita aquí de Portadown para comida para llevar, me encanta el pollo goujons sin gluten y salchichas. Personal tome realmente en serio, regularmente alergenos escucharlos repetir sin gluten de la otra y pedir el gluten que es tan gratis utensilios tranquilizador. Uno de los sólo para llevar, que nunca he tenido ningún dolor de estómago debido a la contaminación, gran trabajo cross :).

Visitamos aquí anoche por primera vez en décadas, la comida era tan buena como siempre, el lugar siempre está impecable y lo recomiendo totalmente los goujons como son impresionantes.

Para llevar galardonados. Excelente que sirve patatas fritas pescado tradicional chippie n. Se lo recomendaría a mis amigos. Lo único negativo es que el Dolphin no abre para el almuerzo.

Cliente Habitual. . Todo es bueno. Mi favorito probablemente la cena de pollo en rodajas, guisantes, relleno con salsa de pimienta o salsa. . . Pescado maltratado siempre muy, muy buena también. . . Establecimiento muy limpio.

The meal wasn't bad but we were slightly disappointed as we chose this takeaway based on it having won an award!The fish batter wasn't very crisp, although the flavour was good, and nothing special about the chips either way.

This is the spot and you can see why they consistently win chip shop of the year. The fish is amazing and this is really well run although the price reflects the quality as it would not be the cheapest fast food outlet but it is worth the extra.

We ate here after reading a rave review in the local paper. It was awful. I got a chicken fillet breast and it was more like a budgie and was so overcooked. Most Def won't be back.

Normally we used to eat out of here several times a week but lately have cut down as the food has become very hit and miss and seems to depend a lot on who is actually frying behind the scenes,the chips especially seem to have lost the wonderful flavour and texture they once had and meat rolls get well overdone. The fish is however excellent as is the sliced chicken supper,sausages and burgers so overall not so bad. The staff are wonderful,always time for a chat especially Malachy himself(the owner) the premises are spotless and i think deserve their award winning status and would recommend a visit if your around Dungannon.

Great chippy in the heart of Dungannon. Extensive menu catering for different dietary needs such as vegetarian and gluten free. Very clean inside and the food is sourced and cooked to the best quality. The Dolphin Takeaway definitely lives up to the "best chip shop in Northern Ireland" title!

The only fault is advertised open @ 4.30pm not to day 17mins late .The premises are bright with an extensive menu. My better half tried meat roll in a bap with chips the concept was ok but meat roll was small lacked taste and the batter was too thick and hard/crunchie.The experience was saved by the best fish supper in decades. The staff were efficient and hygiene orientated .A return is not far away.

We saw that this chippie had been awarded the"Best Fish and Chip Shop in Northern Ireland for 2016 so of course we had to scarper off to Dungannon to give it a go.We had trouble finding the place by car but this wasn't the chip shop's fault- just the daft one way system around Dungannon. When we entered the shop we saw the owner working away himself in the background which is always a good sign in any fish and chip shop. the staff all spoke to us and the shop looks very clean and tidy with great lighting. The only negative comment we would give, and we do this very reluctantly, is that the chips could be a bit more crunchy on the outside and a bit more fluffy on the inside. I have been trying to cook the perfect chip at home for many years and know just how difficult this can be.I suppose I have a very high standard! All food was cooked to order and the fish we must say was perfect. If the chips were slightly tweaked then I would say that this chippie is one of the best we've been in for a long time. Do visit.
