The Masons Arms in North Devon

Perhaps I was spoilt for choice whilst in Devon, but I found the Mason's Arms a little underwhelming overall. A cosy dining room with a real village-pub feel give way to decent, but not always standout dishes that left me wantng a bit more. The highlight of the meal was the Jerusalem Artichoke veloute with smoked chicken - creamy, rich and well-seasoned. Other courses all had nice elements, but do not stand out in my mind as particularly exceptional. By no means a bad meal, but I expect a little more from a Michelin rated restaurant.

We visited on a Wednesday evening to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and were very impressed. There was a lovely atmosphere and the pub was busy considering it was mid-week. The service was excellent and the staff were attentive but not intrusive. The highlight was obviously the food. We were both blown away by how delicious it was. The complementary canapes and mini desserts were a lovely touch. We will be back!

It was so lovely to be back at The Masons Arms on Tuesday. We worked out it must have been about 3 years since we were last lucky enough to enjoy such incredible food and service with Mark and Sarah at the helm. Walking into the bar area was like “coming home” and we had such a warm welcome. Lunch was nothing short of being superb. It was faultless. The Exmoor fillet was to die for. So soft and succulent and perfectly cooked medium rare. . The pistachio soufflé was nothing short of perfection. Beautifully crafted. Together with the very quaffable South African wine and a sneaky glass of champagne and some delicious dessert wine, my husband and I felt very happy to be back. Sent from my iPhone

Been wanting to visit this Michelin starred country pub restaurant for a long time. A Christmas Present was the the way to make it happen. The welcome, service and food were tremendous. I had Duck Parfait and Guinea Fowl while my wife had soup followed by Halibut. We shared a Selection of Desserts then coffee with petit fours. They are considering selling the business si U suggest you get in while you can!!

After reading all the glowing reviews of The Mason Arms restaurant pub we were both excited but nervous as it had so much to live up to . Well we were not disappointed. Everything about the whole experience was excellent. Nice welcome & ambience in a truly old fashion pub. The focus is naturally all on the food & it is mind blowingly outstanding . We thoroughly enjoyed our starters, main course and deserts all 10 out of 10. Superb & interesting wine list.

We booked a table by the bar in front of a cosy log fire. The service was excellent and the set menu lunch that we chose was superb . We will return .

Excellent food as usual. Can particularly recommend the artichoke soup and they never fail to please with their souffles. We had a family member visit and visited three restaurants this week. Can highly rate the food and the surroundings.

Taste of British deserts a must at the end of a sensational menu. In an informal and relaxed atmosphere the food is is of the highest quality. Venison cooked with restraint with wonderful flavour and tenderness. Every course memorable.

Lunched with friends following constant badgering by one of them to make the trip to North Devon. How pleased we were to have given in! Michelin stars can in our experience not always be a blessing. In this case it certainly is and so well deserved (for 15 consecutive years I think!!). Nestled in a pretty village within what appears to be a quaint country pub is a delightful, cosy restaurant where a little bit of magic happens. An enticing menu, created and cooked by Chef Patron Mark Dodson hits the spot perfectly. Neither the food or service is pretentious, but warm and welcoming. It may not be cheap, but it is excellent value for money. Can't really imagine what could be improved except moving closer it to home? But as that's not happening we will be more than happy to make the pilgrimage to Knowstone again and we're planning our return right now.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Devon. For a restaurant that has had its Michelin star for 17 years, it’s remarkabley unpretentious, with outstanding food and friendly knowledgeable service. I know it’s a bit late posting this review, but I’m reminded as I’m going back this week!

Beautifully nestled on the edge of Exmoor in the quaint village of Knowstone, this award winning restaurant offers a truly delightful and delicious dining experience of the finest quality. Locally sourced meats including an amazing cut of venison cooked to perfection. This pub is full of character and charm with a lovely garden and outdoor seating.

We had been a few times before and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. On this occassion we were having a reunion to celebrate 50 tears since the 4 women and 2 of the men in the party met at Freshers week at uni. The 7 in the party have all had numerous dining experiences and all agreed that the Masons Arms deserves its reputation.

I had the pleasure of having lunch here last week to celebrate my birthday. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, the service was excellent and the food was wonderful. We enjoyed every course; all the dishes were perfectly cooked and extremely tasty. We started with roasted tomato soup and seared Tuna, followed by vegetable risotto and fillet of beef, finished off with strawberry cheesecake and a mixed berry crème brûlée. The chef also managed to rustle up a pasta dish for my son which he really liked as well. The Masons Arms is set in a lovely location, the pub has lots of character and the dining room is small with nice views over the countryside. It was a fabulous afternoon out, all the food was top notch, as we were leaving the head chef Mark came over and asked if we’d had a good time. Keep up the good work guys, we can’t return when we’re in Devon again.

I visited with my 10 month old as an early lunch stop off on a long journey, nappy bag, baby food and hungry baby in hand, not realising it was much smarter than the average pub! In fact, a rather elegant restaurant. I almost changed my mind to feed baby in the car, but very glad I didn't. I was made to feel very welcome by all the staff and the owner, was offered a table (with highchair ready) with a wonderful view over the fields. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. My attempt to have a quick lunch inconspicuously failed (!), but the staff were very accommodating and charming. I'd like to go back for a lovely evening meal with husband not baby next time!Highly recommend.

Un verdadero tesoro escondido y un auténtico placer desde el momento que entramos por la puerta, hasta el momento de mala gana a la izquierda.El establecimiento encantador con un verdadero sentido de la historia. Íntimo comedor con 8 mesas que me sentí muy especial.El personal era amable, acogedor y eficiente sin pasarse, así que era un encantador ambiente relajado. Los entrantes eran un indicador de la comida hermosa venga y el único problema con el menú, fue elegir sólo una de las deliciosas opciones.La grúa de salmón curado era increíble y la amabilidad de los Tang fue un partido de pepino en escabeche hecha en el cielo. Yo no quería el rape y vieiras al final, pero por supuesto que tuvimos que, para el postre.Me deberían avergonzarse de admitir que yo tenía dos postres pero era completamente necesario y enteramente culpa del establecimiento para hacer muy difícil elegir sólo uno. El Strawberry Cheesecake fue sin duda el mejor que he probado y fue un gran calentamiento para el soufflé de frambuesa. Si pudiera haber escapado con un tercer postre, habría! Fue bonito ver a los vinos locales en el menú y sin duda recomendaría la sugerencia vino de postre que eran un acompañamiento encantador a ese campo.Yo recomendaría a cualquiera los brazos albañiles y no podemos esperar a volver de nuevo.

Habíamos reservado para venir aquí el mes anterior, pero tuvimos que cancelar, así que estaban muy emocionados para finalmente llegar a visitar los brazos de albañiles. Está en una hermosa ubicación cerca de Exmoor National Park y el paisaje circundante en el jardín, donde disfrutamos de un gin tonic y un local y amouse bouche, era impresionante.

Nos instalamos en una cómoda sala de estar con bebidas con mucho tiempo para escanear el menú y, a continuación, en el comedor, con encantadoras vistas sobre la campiña de north Devon. Un restaurante de una estrella Michelin, situado en un apartado del siglo 13 en la frontera Devon de Somerset. No es su sitio normal y sin duda visitar si tienes la oportunidad. La cena es bastante caro, pero en línea con la calidad, pagamos £135 para dos, incluyendo la propina, una botella de vino y bebidas antes de la cena, tan razonable para lo que te dan.

Qué maravilloso equilibrio entre restaurantes y un agradable pub local. Este no es un restaurante barato, pero ofrece una gran relación calidad-precio. La comida era maravillosa y el ambiente corresponde.

Activa un pub para pasarlo una pinta y un sandwich. Encontré este encantador pub que no sirve aperitivos, pero un almuerzo. Menú de almuerzo de 3 platos por 25 libras. Muy bien preparado y presentado. Nos sentimos mimados. Tan contentos que no sirven sándwiches. Menú nocturno es más caro, pero no puedo esperar a volver. Delicioso.

Sólo estuvimos aquí para un aperitivo en nuestro camino a Woolacombe por cuatro noches. Pero los masones los brazos no bocadillos. Este lugar es una delicia culinaria. Quiero volver a comer o cenar aquí algún día pronto. En su lugar, sólo tenía un plato de pollo y jamón terrina hock, que era delicioso.

Nos reunimos con amigos para el almuerzo aquí - nuestra segunda visita. Los tres platos es de calidad excepcional y del bar a la factura, el servicio era atento, eficiente y encantador. Pequeños detalles, desde la elección de pan al petit four con el café agregar a el placer. A través de la ventana, incluso en un día húmedo de junio, la vista del paisaje rural sigue siendo atractivo. El hígado de pollo de arranque, el filete de lubina y parfait de chocolate eran deliciosos y la comida bien, aquí, es entregado en una manera profesional y relajado.

Visitado durante su estancia en little owl por nuestro aniversario de boda. Pre-bebidas en el jardín con aceitunas y nueces trajo a nosotros y tomaron el pedido. Sentado en la mesa mirando dentro del cultivo, lo cual fue encantador. La comida era fantástica, con pastel de cangrejo cangrejo, huevos de pato con espárragos para empezar, filete y rape para principal y café con fudge y macarons para terminar. Encantador pequeño pub con un personal encantador. Me encantó el detalle de escribir feliz aniversario en nuestro plato de flan que era muy dulce. Sin duda lo recomiendo!

Me sentí obligado a escribir otro comentario porque me di cuenta que el crítico unos abajo me decepcionó. Teníamos el mismo menú del almuerzo ya que crítico y todos pensamos que era fantástico. Como una mesa de 6 pudimos probar todo lo que en ese menú. La sopa y terrina de ambas fueron llenos de sabor y deliciosos, una enorme porción de la terrina también! Me dijeron que la opción de pescado era delicada y perfectamente cocinado, y los cuatro que eligió la panceta de cerdo lo disfrutamos, perfectamente equilibrada con el ligero amargor de las endivias, pera dulce y oscuro (además de la mejor jus chisporroteante que alguno de nosotros hemos tenido). La panna cotta de menú también era genial, no sólo una Panna Cotta aunque, siempre hay algo extra para que sea un poco diferente, que venía con un conjunto de puntos de gel de fresa, delicioso sorbete de fresa y merengue, suelo de chocolate. Otros miembros de nuestro grupo no podría resistir el chocolate blanco y jengibre cheesecake del menú a la carta, que mi padre pensaba era la mejor tarta que había probado. Mark y Sarah siempre cuidar a sus huéspedes muy bien, y siempre hay caseros sin gluten para el free rolls celíacos en nuestro grupo. Volvimos para almorzar y había menú con un plato principal de la carta. Toda la experiencia de principio a fin, fue un auténtico placer y la comida era sencillamente impresionante.
