The Nags Head Inn in Powys

Overall the service is friendly and efficient, food from the regular (non Sunday ) menu is good , well cooked and very reasonable prices . Only issue was by a table of noisy children, not the restaurants fault , parents letting kids run wild

Brilliant service at this restaurant, we came for my grandads birthday and the staff really made a fuss of him and were really attentive to all our needs. The food delicious (definitely recommend the duck) the atmosphere was perfect. We will definitely be back in the future, thankyou to all of the lovely staff for an amazing experience.

On the way to Swansea needed a stop off for Dinner with the Kids aged 4 & 3. Came across the Nags Head, This can sometime be chanllanging with little ones however the staff made the kids feel welcome start to finish. The food was fantastic for myself husband and son didnt leave anyhing, my daughters pasta sauce was alittle spicey so she refused to eat it, the staff noticed and asking if she wanted anything else which was amazing she took them up on the offer and her food came out quickly. We continued the journey with full bellies, after a really nice experience at The Nags Head. Delicious food, Attentive staff, relaxed atmosphere wish we lived closer. Highly recomend.

This dog friendly pub restaurant is fantastic! The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The food was delicious, to be honest if it were a blind tasting and I did not know that we were in a pub I would not doubt it if somebody said that we were in a Michelin star restaurant. The decor is a perfect blend of traditional county pub and high quality modern countryside living. We will certainly be coming back.

We had such a fabulous meal at The Nags Head. We were visiting Powys for the weekend and this was a highlight of our trip. We managed to book a table for Saturday night but they were busy so definitely don't leave it too late to book or you might be disappointed. We were greeted on arrival by friendly staff who showed us to our table. Its nicely decorated and the tables were set with care. All the waiting staff were friendly and polite We didn't have to wait long for any drinks or food ordered they were very efficient. The food was delicious We couldn't resist ordering 3 courses and left feeling very full. I had the branching to start which was lovely and nice to not contain mushrooms as it does a lot of other places, for main the most amazing lamb rumb lentil Dahl which had a a bit of a kick and a very flavoursome onion bahji. The Lemon cheesecake was a real chunky slice with thick biscuit base and plenty of the cheesecake and ice cream too!

I have just returned from my weekend away at this wonderful establishment. Aga and her team have made the whole weekend memorable for all of us. From sorting out our lovely rooms to sorting out our dinner and lunch tables nothing has been too much trouble for them. The meals are just superb, from the delicious breakfast , evening meals etc to our fabulous Sunday lunch , as a by the by, if you love fish and chips then try them here, of the guests who dined with us all the ones who had the Fish and chips said it was the best they have ever had anywhere, The Sunday lunch is magnificent and the best any of us have ever had anywhere. Superb quality and just massive portions , just exceptional. This pub is just superb, great staff, lovely rooms, an excellent bar and wonderful food. We have booked again for later in the year in the knowledge that a superb weekend awaits us.

Have stayed at Penwylln Lodgess numerous times during the last 11 years. We have always looked forward to a meal here, In fact we always started our break with a lunch here. However, during our last visit during July 2023 the welcome we received from staff and management has put off using the pub again.

Fantastic restaurant! Very welcoming staff and very warm and cosy inside. The food was delicious and really good quality, the lemon meringue cheesecake was amazing! If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be dining here again.

Service was terrible from all staff . Even the manger/ owner . Said table was ready got given food and no cutlery except 1 folk on table . No condiments offered or on the table. Hard to get attention of staff. Wrong meal given to what was ordered . What manger should have done was taken all meals back and bring them all back out when correct order was right that way everyone eats together. There is a saying ,, how the great fall ,, so just a matter of time till the next owners take over . Also the comments back from the manager to other negative reviews are certainly not doing any favours for the restaurant. To become successful, you have to take it on the chin and make it better . As we will see in the reply I get to this review may say it all .

The owner and bar manager are rude, unhelpful and disrespectful. After an issue today resulting in restaurant furniture ruining my clothing - the owner suggested I remove the clothing and leave the restaurant naked (while snowing outside). His response when it was highlighted that I had nothing to wear was “that’s your problem to fix”.

Good place for lunch. The service is attentive. There is a varied menu including vegetarian options. The mushroom risotto is a treat.

I can't begin to explain just how fabulous this place is. It's easy to see why they have won so many awards. The staff are incredibly friendly (special shout out to Kaili for searching high and low for sleeping dragon for me!), everybody was welcoming, polite and made the whole experience so easy. The food was beyond incredible, easily the best roast I have ever had - sorry nan but it's true. The beef was cooked to perfection, the roasties were crispy outside but soft and Fluffy inside and the assortment of veg was lovely and fresh. The pictures truly don't do it justice. My partner and I also got stuffing and pigs in blankets as an extra treat but definitely didn't need it as the meal was filling enough on it's own. Despite being full to the brim we also ordered dessert - I got the lemon melange pie and he got the toffee apple crumble. Both were amazing. My only disappointment was that we decided to go here on the last day of our trip, as I easily could have eaten here every day. I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of the staff for the amazing job you do!
