The Shed Bistro in Pembrokeshire

Amazing fish and chips, which I would rate 5/5 as the portion sizes were plentiful and amazing, but I would avoid the monkfish as the squid that came with it was undercooked. Also the curry sauce was not the best, as it had a strange vinegar-like taste.

Had a lovely ‘catch of the day’ lunch. The staff were very friendly and obliging. The service was quick and the food was excellent. Best fish and chips we’ve had in years. Our half portions were plenty big enough for us and excellent value. Would recommend and would definitely eat there again.

Fabulous little restaurant. Great cakes. Delicious seafood. So glad to have checked out the specials menu. We had cod cheeks and Monkfish. Simply delicious. This Bistro was recommended to us, it was totally worth the stop. We were in a hurry and food came very quickly. Whatever you're in the mood for, this Bistro will meet your needs.

After a beautiful walk, nothing is more enjoyable than a fish and chips, and this did not disappoint, Batter was fresh and all the food tastiest top! My only gripe was as a takeaway customer not providing a bin is a little strange.

We were visiting the area and arrived late evening and this was one of the only places open. We decided to try this place out and the standard fish and chips were absolutely wonderful. Great food and friendly staff with amazing service. Would absolutely recommend to those visiting :)

Wow, we were recommended this place and it totally lived up to expectations. Warm and happy greeting by the staff - accommodated us although we didn’t have a booking (mid-week, off season). Service was quick and attentive. The food was fabulous! Couldn’t resist the fresh specials of plaice with samphire and capers, and halibut steak with Mediterranean bean and vegetable cassoulet. Both were top notch and highly recommended. We’ll definitely return, thanks!

Just about the best chips I've had in a long, long time. Staff were fab, very helpful with my 5 year old.

We were told to go here by the owner of the b&b we are staying in, he described this place as the best fish and chips he’s ever had bar none, so we knew we had to try it. It did not disappoint!! The fish was fresh and delicious, the batter crisp and flavorful, made with local beer. The chips were lovely and crisp, with a rich potato flavor. None of the dirty dry oil taste you can sometimes get. We also tried the marinated anchovies and a Greek salad and couldn’t fault a thing. The salad was fresh with a generous helping of cheese and olives, and the anchovies were nice and sharp with a refreshing tang and mild fishy flavor. Can’t wait to come back!

I can not rate this place higher. We had a busy day walking the coast and had not booked but the owner was so accommodating, letting us sit in with drinks till evening service . The fish was delicious I had scallops and my partner had haddock. It's great for kids aswell as our son was also with us. Will return if ever in area but would suggest to book ahead.

Cold February day sat outside in my waterproofs and thermals, next to the harbour. Best Fish and Chips I've ever had.

Greasy and tasteless fish. Very disappointed. We made a special journey to this restaurant as we were very excited to see its boasts of local and fresh fish. However, the bold statements on their website and restaurant signs need a significant asterisk. The fish is only fresh and local certain months of the year (perfectly fine, we appreciate like anything fishing is seasonal) however, apparently the rest of the year they have no clue where their fish is from or how it is sourced. In a world where sustainable fishing and traceability is such a hot topic we expect more transparency when parting with our cash. Especially when the business in question is making a living off of their claims to local fish landed daily and served within hours *when it's suits.

Came here on so many peoples recommendations and were so pleased we did. We have been lucky enough to eat at many fish restaurants in Cornwall and the Cod & chips we had here were the very best we have ever eaten. The service was excellent, great value for money too. What is so lovely it’s an unassuming bistro that delivers such a fabulous meal. We will be back, after passing on the info to lots of family and friends.

Tasty fish and chips, average size portion. Lovely crispy chips. These were 10/10 fish fresh and perfectly cooked. Rather expensive at £11.95 for cod and chips but netherless very good fish and chips and worth the visit.

The Shed is just fabulous! We arrived today for a birthday lunch and we enjoyed every moment. We ate a three course meal, we we so tempted by the menu that we had to try every course. The food was so fresh, full of flavours, the fish was fresh, flaky and as white as white could be! The sauce that accompanied my halibut, was delicious, delicate in flavours, creamy but light. The dessert was just perfect, rich, wholesome and tangy! The staff were really busy when we arrived but once we were seated then we were given their full attention, our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and he was all smiles… such a perfect day! I just wish we lived closer so we could visit more frequently. Five stars… thank you!

We ate here last night with friends who have recently moved to the area. Monkfish and prawn curry, cod and chips and monkfish tails and chips. All superb. Beautifully cooked. Lovely crisp chips and also deserts very tasty. The ladies serving were lovely and attentive. We will be back.

This Bistro has been recommended to us by several friends, so pleased we followed it up. Excellent restaurant with a great menu! We both had poached prawns in a spicy sauce, like a lovely fresh posh prawn cocktail followed by a monk fish, tomato and coconut curry which was just the best. Overall a lovely visit, lovely staff and excellent service.

Chips were limp and soggy. We also found a hair in a portion of fish. Won’t ever go back. Ruined our dinner.

Wow! Been here three times in the last month and it's been consistently excelent. Nice freindly service in an interesting location, each time providing the best fish n chips I've ever had. I'm not just talking about my local chippy. They are cooking at the top end but charging normal prices. Location is a bit of an issue for me, I live 5 hours away but, ots worth the trip. Well done to all involved, please except my thanks and keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing yumall and enjoying your food again soon.👍

We hadn't been to the area and consequently The Shed for a couple of years, having previously been with both family and friends. We were so pleased to find little had changed. The welcome was warm and friendly as always, all the staff we interacted with were the same and the food simply excellent. One extra pleasant surprise was that as over-65s we were entitled to the discounted price.

First visit, recommended by family and well worth a ride out. Good food, good service and excellent value for money.

Love the shed, staff are adorable especially blondie, the food superb, lovely vibe in the restaurant, although would have preferred candlelight, a little more subtle, and warm!!! The best food we have had by far. Brilliant.

Called to The Shed after a day in St David's, wanted to see what it was like for ourselves as so many friends have praised and recommended it .We called in on the off chance there was a spare table for us , a nice young waitress checked and seated us upstairs, lovely homely feel to upstairs , ordered our food from a varied menu with something for everyone , I ordered the beer battered haddock , chips and a side order of Mushy Peas, whilst my wife ordered half Scampi and chips which was a lovely size portion and delicious with tasty tartar sauce and a slice of lemon , my haddock was lovely and flakey cooked spot on with lovely homecooked chips the mushy peas were really tasty , We then dicided to have a dessert , lemon and rosemary polenta cake with cream also a chocolate brownie with cream , both were to die for nearly ordered a second helping they were that delicious Drinks we had were a local bottle of IPA ale and also a orange and passion fruit J20 the bill came to £51.20 which for the quality of the food , service and the restaurant itself was very reasonable, will definitely be visiting again and we can recommend this to anyone who wants good food at non extortionate prices

We visited with friends in a Saturday evening after booking. There were four of us and we ordered 3 starters, four mains and 3 desserts. We also had a bottle of wine and 2 beers and it came to around £170. The starters were all great, we had cod cheeks, halloumi and prawns, the halloumi was very good and prawns looked excellent. We also all enjoyed our mains, 2 cod, one scampi and another battered fish that I can’t recall. Again everyone enjoyed. The desserts were also very nice, I’d particularly recommend the tiramisu. My main point of improvement would be to add much more gherkin and capers to the tartare sauce, it was almost entirely mayo. Also the service was a little bit Fawlty towers at times, which was fine, but we were left for ages after being seated before even being offered a drink, we had to ask to order and then ordered food and drink. If you get drinks to people they’ll tolerate a wait for food.

A small restaurant in a delightful little harbour village, the food here is excellent. Three of our party had fish & chips, choosing one each of hake, cod and haddock. I'm gluten intolerant, so chose the mackerel. All the dishes were delicious and the portion sizes very generous. My mackerel was superb. There were some lovely deserts on the menu, including a delicious sounding gf polenta cake, but none of us had room to order them! Service was friendly and very good, and we had a lovely meal. Would definitely return in future.

Just the best fish and chips - sadly they don’t serve outside anymore (take away only ) which means your GF options are limited to chips - eating inside good choice of fresh fish dishes and GF - we’ll worth a visit

27th birthday meal, absolutely amazing, food was full of flavours and portions were large, catered for my 2 year old who is deaf and the staff were so lovely to her, we will be back next year!

Absolutely loved our visit to The Shed for our second wedding anniversary. You just can't beat the combination of incredible, local food, gorgeous views and friendly staff. Particularly recommend the sea bass and lobster orzo, delicious!

Only thing to improve would be a dog accessible area

Really delicious classic and simple

Absolutely beautiful cod and chips at the shed. We had a French lady serving us who has been here for 27 years. Very quick service. What a beautiful part of the world. I highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.

The Shed does not look too much from outside, but is the best surprise that we had in Wales. We had sardines and prawns and they were all tasty, fresh, amazing. The sardines are on a bed of marinated onions and a slice of home...

Great fish and chips with a lovely Greek salad. Eaten on the green in the sunshine listening to the live music at the local pub with a lovely atmosphere of gentle evening harbour seaside hustle and bustle. Definitely worth a visit . The blue lagoon is a short coastal walk away.

On a very busy bank holiday weekend, they efficiently got a queue of people fed with tasty food, via their takeaway shed.

We just had an evening meal of battered grey mullet and chips and a green lentil curry and chips. Mullet was extremely well cooked and the beer batter was excellent. The green lentil curry was very tasty and had just the right amount of heat. The waitress, Beth was very polite and welcoming and was very prompt taking our order. All round, excellent food, a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. Cann recommend enough.

Absolutely terrific fish house for lovers of nice things fishy. From a really most excellent classic crispy fish and chips to my personel favourite, fabulous fresh local lobster (as you like style). And much more on the menu. We've had great food, lovely hospitality at the shed. Many thanks

Well there are plenty of great reviews and I'm not going to buck the trend. Food was great a variety of fish and chips options which you will find hard to beat anywhere. It's not the cheapest but it should really be compared to your average chip shop, but apparently some do. The specials available if you dine in were interesting and the sea bass was superb. The staff were all super helpful and friendly a great evening. They are definitely worth all the 5 star reviews.

It has been a good few days since getting a takeaway fish and chips at the Shed. I can’t get the chips out of my head!!! Chip heaven. Kind of glassy and crunchy with a fluffy interior. There are recycling bins too but I wish...

Food was delicious and the staff were really friendly. Booking is a must if you want to eat indoors as it is relatively small, but there is plenty of outdoor seating for "takeaway" options. An absolute must if in the area! The prawns we're unreal!

Not the bistro experience we were expecting after looking forward to something different. More like a fish and chip restaurant which also happens to have a special or two on, and when they're gone - which they were - it's back to just a fish and chip shop again. Shame as the last of the specials we saw going out looked nice enough but if we'd known we were just going out for fish and chips we'd have booked elsewhere. The food we did have was nice enough but not mind-blowing.

Stopped by early evening whilst walking the welsh coastal path. Fantastic monkfish and service was friendly, definitely worth stopping by!

Excellent meal, great wine and all who served us were so friendly and most courteous.

It's not an elaborate seafood restaurant as i got excited about looking at the menu. I will go again for fish and chips but not for the tiny expensive trout or below average vegetarian dish, which we had.

Very friendly place, the fish and chips are excellent, the scones too, the service very friendly and we had the pleasure of conversing in French with the waitress. We had a great time.

Fantastic fish and chips, well cooked, fish moist and delicate inside the crisp beer batter. Chips were excellent and the mushy peas exceptional. The service was great, friendly, knowledgeable and whilst there was a wait the food was ready in 10 mins. Plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere in the harbour. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Porthgain is a busy spot with a pub a fish and chip bistro and an ice cream shack. The shed is busy, but cater for takeaways via the shed outside. Our order took between 40-50minutes but absolutely worth the wait. Skin on fish with crispy chips, a lime wedge and a pot of lovely tartare sauce. The curry sauce is delicious, different to your typical sauce, it's runny with loads of spice-definitely a must. Will be back for sure.

Great spot, high on visitor hit lists for years. Grabbing a much sought after outdoor table would make for a perfect end to a day in Pembrokeshire. Now running an illogical take-away/outdoor eating ordering process which means a long wait for either. Fish and Chips still good, but be prepared to wait 30mins+.
