we had a great meal here, the food and ambience could not be faulted. I had the Cod, my brother the turkey dinner very good, even though we were tempted by the specials.

Thoroughly enjoyed a lovely meal served in tasteful, homely surroundings. The food presentation and quality was excellent served by friendly and attentive staff. The menu is not large but there is certainly something to suit everyone's taste. We had three courses each and they were all excellent.

Fantastic night with lovely food yet again with stunning views over to Dundee ( even in the dark ). Used the View Restaurant on numerous occasions for family special events and get togethers with friends and never been let down. Tables are well spaced out so you are not having to listen to the next tables conversation. Last but no means least all the staff are always very professional and friendly a great wee team 👍🏼

We popped in for coffee/cake but then decided to have breakfast/ brunch instead. Fantastic place, friendly staff and delicious food. The view was not the best as it was a misty day but that didn't detract from our visit. Will definitely visit again.

The View staff were very welcoming we had 24 people at the wedding breakfast the aperitifs were delicious. The first course that I had was small haggis fritters they were delicious this was followed by in an irn bru sorbet fabulous, chicken, mash potatoes with leeks through the mash and veg very ,very tasty, and to top off with meringue roulade absolutely delicious .If you get the chance you must go the view is fantastic to sit and look through the windows so welcoming the atmosphere is great you couldn’t ask for anything better.All of the guests enjoyed there meals. A place you’ll want to return to. Thank you to Steve and Karen for making the wedding meal memorable for all your staff were lovely as well as very caring.

My brothers wedding breakfast (dinner) was hosted by Steve and Karen at the View and I can only say everything was AMAZING! The food was to die for, the staff very friendly and the views over the Tay were fabulous! They went over and above to ensure everyone’s needs were catered for and honestly couldn’t have imagined any where better to celebrate. If you get the chance, I would highly recommend anyone takes the opportunity to enjoy a visit!

I had the absolute delight to visit The View (which is more than aptly named) for the wedding breakfast of two of my dearest friends, Scott & Keith. The owners, Steve & Karen pulled of a truly special evening for our group with perfectly tailored courses to suit the guests and the grooms. The food was spectacular, I was too pre-occupied to take many photos, but trust me that this is a great place for food and a brilliant venue for a special dinner.

Having had excellent food and service here numerous times over a number of years, we opted to book The View for our recent wedding. The food and service were excellent as always! The pre planning was excellent with good communication from the team. On the day, the front of house team were excellent - professional and accommodating but also very warm! The food was once again exceptional and all guests confirmed this! We had a large table and the food was prepared and served smoothly, with no delays like you sometimes get with large groups. All of the food was delicious but the black pudding bon bons, haggis fritters, venison, and sticky toffee pudding were notably popular with our guests! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will definitely be back! Thanks to all the team.

Passed on a walk with family and thought it would be nice to sit outside for breakfast. We all settled at a table and I wandered in for menus. Woman who looked in charge shrugged her shoulders and said 'we've got nothing' - the place was half empty inside, plenty staff behind the bar and had only been open 15 minutes. The most unwelcoming, unfriendly (downright rude) response from anywhere I have ever visited. Why was there 'nothing' - do people pre-order food? Was there not a bacon roll or even a cup of coffee to be had? This was a weekday. Absolutely ridiculous response and I felt humiliated. Will never step foot in this place again. Oh...and found out later the woman is actually the owner. Clearly doesn't need the custom!!

We decided to take a family member out to celebrate a birthday. The food was amazing, well presented and thoroughly enjoyable. The wait staff were friendly and very efficient. It was great to see a local restaurant so busy on a Saturday evening.

A couple of weeks ago, as I was visiting my Sister-in-Law in nearby Gauldry; together with her Daughter and Partner, (after a few years), returned to this lovely Restaurant for a spot of Lunch. Once again, all the Food was nicely presented and very tasty but the star of our Lunch was the Breaded Peterhead Fillets of Plaice! Also, the welcome and the quality of the Service, (especially), by the Owner was Excellent. Overall a Good Lunch and Very Good Value.

The food was excellent and service very good, I asked for a vodka martini, Jasmin made me a perfect one. I had the Angus sliced sirloin with local vegetables and delicious sauce, i enjoyed the slight cooked red onion dipped in a crispy batter and crispy new potatoes, my husband had the chicken with a delicious sauce and small sides of black pudding, cabbage. Desert was sublime, I had the lemon merguine marscapone roulade with lemon sauce and local raspberries, just yum. Chocolate mousse, with strawberries and homemade imore chocolate ice cream. We arrived early only to be to be told that we were the only 2 people booked in for the evening.....WHY? Where was everyone?We had a fantastic dinner. My pigeon starter was really good and with loads of pigeon....delicious. Haggis Balls for hubby went down a storm.Main..Confit of Duck for me was excellent and hubby's Seafood Risotta was the best he had had. Loads of Fish and shellfish. Devoid of any atmosphere save for that of the swarm of fruit flies... yes really. It could have been a shipping container - hollow and dismal. Social distancing still in force and yet occupied tables bundled up to one end....ours was sticky, really sticky. Asked for it to be wiped down and the young woman then sprayed the table - and those sitting around it, with whatever substance they use to clean tables, revolting. And guess what? Sticky table again, so we used our serviettes as table cloths. The food? How is it possible to order a meal and the 'chef' 'forget' the three key ingredients on one cover? Well they can magically do this at The View. Their excuse? 'We were busy last night and ran out of a) b) & c) ' - - here's a tip - the supermarkets in Scotland are currently open. The chicken breast was cut into two pieces - I'm guessing because it had been microwaved from the freezer and the inside needed to be checked that it was thoroughly cooked. Well it was, I could have soled a shoe or two with what was served up. The Pakora was an absolute joke - it looked and tasted like coal - was so solid it could have been used as ammo, and although it was again part of the described meal on the menu, had to be requested. (Wish we hadn't though) I could go on but suffice it to say The View was a real disappointment. I am describing my own meal and will leave it to my dining companions to add their own reviews. If the owner spent more time actually overseeing his kitchens and less on his SUP perhaps we could have been impressed. The waiting staff were reasonably competent and this review is in no way directed at them. - they merely follow orders (and someone might want to find out where those fruit flies are coming from - very unattractive)

Not sure a review or these words can do The View justice after the lovliest evening out we've ever had at a restaurant, that's not overdoing it. We visited the area for the first time and everything about this place is absolutely top draw. Lovely, warm staff on the phone who gave us a great table with amazing views of sunset over Dundee.The restaurant is spotless, tasteful, classy, spacious, and atmospheric. The menu is top draw, not too many dishes, but caters for every taste. Drinks menu to die for and wow when the food comes! Haggis fritters we heavenly, beutfiul chicken dish with lent curry, venison dreamy, its classily presented, high quality food at a great price. The staff are amazing, warm, friendly, allow you space but attentive. To top it off, they gave my partner a special treat after a long, tough year and a birthday candle in a sorbet brought us to tears.This is a special place to eat and drink run by special people, we can't wait to return

Having only driven through Wormit before and never stopped, this restaurant was a real hidden gem. We only found out about it from an excellent write-up in The Courier, and we're so glad we trusted their advice and booked a table. Every element of every dish was fantastic - I had the haggis fritters, the venison, and the sticky toffee pudding, and I already can't wait to return and enjoy the latter again, especially! A fantastic late evening meal for the night before my birthday - thank you to all of the team at The View for your hard work and brilliant service.

We visited on a Sunday for a family of four, and were made to feel very welcome. The food was excellent, with interesting choices and daily specials, and a good offering for the kids. We had a very relaxed time and thoroughly enjoyed it. As the name would suggest a great view too!

Really nice food and setting. I gave 5 stars for the menu choices and quality of the food. Delicious haddock flan starter, and very tasty and satisfying scrabster/sea bass/steak mains with interesting dessert menu. Been a couple of times and family and friends wowed by eating out there. So yes, will be going back!I didn't deduct any points but I felt that the food was always on the cusp of arriving slightly cold which was surprising. Is it the plates that are obviously nice ceramic but a little flimsy to heat/retain heat? Something for the management to watch for. But a minor gripe not to detract from a really good local restaurant.

Took my friends out for a celebration. You can always be sure of the quality of the food at The View and again it was delicious. The service too was excellent, friendly and faultless. Pretty much a perfect evening - in fact so good we followed it up by breakfast there today - only two days later!

Tea for Grannys BirthdayI had the Goats Chees and Parma Ham Spring Roll and it was beautiful and then had the Sea Bass and that was beautiful as well. I also had Sticky Toffee Pudding for desert and it was lovely as well. My Gran does not eat a lot and she near enough finished it but she said she enjoyed it and it was tasty. They said the haggis fritters/chicken dish/"special" fish dish and Hock Terrine were lovely as well.There is a beautiful view from the windows and the staff were all really nice and helpful. We would definitely go back and would recommend to everyone else to make a vist.

We selected this restaurant on the water for its view, as visitors from south England. Upon entering I enquired whether we might have our booked table with a view to enjoy rather than our corner table without one? We were told it was Not possible sadly. I guess tables were pre-set but the two large booths with a sea view were empty the entire time we were there. Is such a request too much work or unreasonable?I’d ordered their special of the day French Onion soup. It was a tasty beef onion goulash soup with a few croutons and two pieces of bread on the side, but certainly not a traditional French Onion soup - covered and grilled with cheese and bread on top. When I asked about any cheese, the waitress returned to tell to me from their cook that it was already in it… but she brought a bit more grated cheese for me to throw in it. I was disappointed.Lastly I’d ordered my fish to come with fried potatoes, swapping the boiled ones.My request was forgotten. I let them know I hadn’t requested a double serving of potatoes - both boiled and fried, as they set down fried ones on a side plate! Maybe experienced help is harder to find now, or one is not allowed to order any preferences at The View. Our guest loved his duck leg and my soup-bread side at least.

This was our first lunch since lockdown inside. The staff were very welcoming and showed us to our table over looking the silvery Tay. The menus were presented to us and the recommendations for the specials of the day. Extensive menu which catered for all tastes, vegetarian and gluten-free. I chose the specials for today which was salmon which was salmon with a herb crust and marmalade bread-and-butter pudding with vanilla ice cream. My husband chose the chicken with curry lentils which was fantastic and shared by marmalade bread-and-butter pudding with vanilla ice cream. Very impressed with the staff the chef and the standard of food presentedAt this very good restaurant. I’ll go again

Such a shame that takeaways is the new way to eat out at the moment, exceptional service and quality of food offered for takeaway. Ribeye steaks very good, not to mention sticky toffee pudding or the Christmas pudding and marmalade ice-cream.

Food and service was excellent. Pity about not being able (due to restrictions) to have wine with our meal. Would recommend highly. Very reasonably priced.One downside was that it was a bit chilly seated in the back corner.

In these weird lockdown-restricted days it was wonderful to make a visit to a restaurant I’d never eaten in before and be made thoroughly welcome. The lunch menu had a good and varied range of choices. I’m coeliac and there were several dishes suitable. Nothing disappointed us. I hate to mention boring Covid, but be assured the restaurant has made every reasonable effort to comply with all the current regulations and requirements. We will certainly be returning.

Nicely surprised. Never dined in this restaurant before & didn’t really know what to expect, some of the menu read a little odd in places. The food was very tasty. No complaints from anyone at the table. Everything was delicious. The staff were very friendly and we felt safe covid wise here too. Thought the prices were bang on for what we had too. Four of us had lunch, two courses, spring rolls with goats cheese were good. Gluten free no problem. Mains of ham hough, sea bream, curry chicken. All good taste and good portion sizes. Good ambience, service is thoughtful and prompt.

We were lucky to have a beautiful sunny evening so the view was amazing. Food was lovely, and they were happy to do a ‘plainer’ version of one of the main dishes for two fussy teenagers. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Great meal as always. We always really enjoy our meals here and this was our first visit for a year or two. There was a slight delay between some of the table receiving meals but with the current circumstances and being a larger table this was understandable.

Best meal ever. Aberdeen angus steak which I always have very well done was so tender that it just melted in my mouth. My 10 year old grandson, who accompanied us is still going on about the great pizza he had from the kids' menu so much that he want to go back for more! You cannot find a better restaurant to take family for a meal because, even though we did not have a window table we still had the terrific views. The restaurant staff were extremely good at adhering to the rules regarding social distancing etc. Well done to all!

We've been to the View many times, but this was our first for a takeaway.Food was as delicious as ever, and we are really glad they are open again as we've been missing our visits. They've got a nice pickup routine organized for collecting the food. They were happy enough to change the sauce for chicken breast to the peppercorn sauce, as usual they are more than happy to help if they can.

We celebrated our first anniversary with a lovely takeaway meal from The View. We had our wedding meal there in May 2019, so were really happy to discover that The View is doing takeaway meals during this time. Steve's food is exceptional quality and full of flavour...the haggis fritters are a favourite of ours, they are so good...our main meals and deserts were delicious too. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and highly recommend the takeaway option to others, it's a lovely treat! The whole process of ordering, payment and collection is really straightforward and efficient. We would also recommend The View for wedding or any other celebrations! As I mentioned, we had a wonderful day celebrating our wedding there last year....Steve couldn't be more helpful and accommodating with our plans, answered all of our questions, and together we created a lovely bespoke menu for our wedding day. The food was outstandingly good and we received amazing feedback from our guests. Steve is also very helpful with particular menu requirements, or when we've asked for a little change to be made to a dish, he is more than happy to help. We really appreciate everything you did to make our wedding day special and memorable, and we just wish we could re-live that day all over again! We look forward to eating in the restaurant again in the future when things return to some form of normality, and are sure that you will come through this even stronger than before! We had a delicious take away meal during lockdown . Excellent quality. A real treat in these difficult times

We had our first takeaway meal from The View way back on Mother’s Day in March just as all the Restaurants were told to close. It was fantastic and I should have posted a review at the time! Then everything closed down. However, a few weeks ago The View started doing takeaway meals again and we have sampled 2 of them. Both orders were faultless and I enjoyed my cauliflower fritters and slow cooked beef so much I’ve ordered the same twice. My husband enjoyed his shoulder of pork very much on the first order but liked the look of my beef so he had that last Friday. Unfortunately because he had to sample the cauliflower fritters too it meant he had to forego his usual Portion of sticky toffee pudding. We both agreed that there there is no dip in quality at all and once on the plate it’s easy to forget the food was ever a takeaway in plastic containers. Each dish is still cooked with care - no soggy vegetables included! It’s been lovely to have a treat during lockdown so well done to Steve & team for all the hard work.

Thank you Stephen for a wonderful Take Away. We hope to do this weekly. Loved all our courses especially the outstanding sticky toffee pudding. Well done for this wonderful intitiative.

I took my grandfather tonight for dinner at the view and it was exceptional, as always! The staff are great and very accommodating. Pheobe and Donna were fantastic. The haggis fritters are a known local favourite!

A £12 taxi from centre of Dundee ...worth the trip.Visited on a very quiet midweek night in February and I’m glad I did.Well cooked and very tasty Scottish bistro type food, beautifully presented. My blade of beef was excellent. Wine choice was uninspiring but reasonably priced.Views across the Tay are indeed impressive. Overall good value even allowing for taxi cost.

A visit to The View had been on must visit list for some time. We had visited Dundee and heading south and took a detour . And it was worth it. Warm welcome on arrival . Great service and excellent food. Hubby was happy with the separate Gluten free menu available.

Outstanding food in this lovely restaurant. The service was fantastic too, couldn’t have been more welcoming and attentive yet not intrusive. The menu is excellent with something for everyone and very reasonably priced. The food was delicious and presented beautifully with perfect sized portions. The house red was great. The views across the Tay is beautiful as is the decor. This was my first time dinning at The View restaurant and I have no doubts I will be back! Fantastic!

We have had several visits to “The View” and have never been disappointed. The service is always excellent and we have never had a bad meal. It’s always tasty, well presented and, for the quality of the food, not overly expensive.
