Despite the fact the hubby and I are ice-cream traditionalists i.e old fashioned dairy ice-cream made with butter, we really like Vanilla Joes and have been a few times now. Lots of flavours to choose from and they’ve been really careful during the pandemic! Well worth a visit if you’re in the area. Personally I like the Ferrero Rocher!!

Had lunch in Largs then a wee run along the coast to Vanilla Joes Ice Cream Factory which we have enjoyed before . Then drive round the corner and enjoy at the Harbourside. Lots of flavours. Only one person/family allowed into the shop due to Covid 19 with screens in place. Well worth the trip. Amazingly Good

Love Vanilla Joe's ice-cream usually go as a treat after a run. They have loads of different flavours and do vegan ice-cream and cones.

I travel from afar just for vanilla joes. I think about vanilla joes everyday that I’m gone. So worth the queues and great value for money.

Go for it but don’t expect to lose-any weight The choice of ice cream is the largest I’ve seen at any ice cream parlour . Very welcoming . Don’t forget there is a huge seating area round the back .

It's been a while since we were last at the ice cream factory (not the shop), social distancing measures are in place with screens at front till and sanitizer on every table and time limits for each table to leave but still no napkins?We had a nutella sundae and a 3 scoop cookie dough, but the cookie dough wasn't as good as last time, it was very soggy and the nutella ice cream tastied very plain.They are currently doing the eat out help out, so only cost us £6 instead of £12.It was ok for half price but definitely not the usual standard!

Love the tasty local dairy ice cream. the deserts are really creamy and have a lovely place to visit.

Been a few times with family and wasn’t overly impressed it’s really small and not the biggest selection of ice creams and overpriced...

Its been a while since we have been in here, our plan was to go to the ice cream factory but it was qued out the door, so we went to the shop instead, which was quiet.Service was a little slow....There was menus on the table and a large clear menu on the wall which is better than the previous chalk boards and there were bins available too which were not always there? but we were not given any napkins with our desserts which is a big no no, as the desserts can get messy!Why not supply some on the tables???Hopefully things can only get better?Ice cream was delicous but still overpriced compared to other dessert shops around.

The place is small and can be very busy. I’ve cream is of a good quality although quite expensive and not a great quantity. Lots of different flavours and options. Certainly worth a try.

First time visiting and I have to say the Choices of desserts are brilliant, something here for everyone good portion sizes and lovely staff

A lady in Trinity church suggested we walk to find the best ice cream in the area. It did take a while to find the shop come café, but was well worth it, plenty of choices, vanilla, eton mess, chocolate etc, People were very friendly and helpful, the ice cream was delicious well worth the walk.

Easily the best ice cream ever. The Raspberry Ripple is devine. Nice to try new flavours but always default back to RR. Not cheap by any means but second to none.

Milkshakes are excellent great choice of ice cream staff are friendly although it’s getting a bit pricey but you get what you pay for.

Love vanilla Joes build your own sundae.The parlour is nicely decorated.staff attentive.The banana split was lovely ice cream and trimmings all very tasty.We go here often,never dissapoints.

Great selection of Ice Creams. Prices on the high side but worth it. Girls loved the white. Worth a visit.

Visited Vanilla Joes for the umpteenth time on Sunday with my wife and son. Ice cream was sensational as always. My son loved the kinder and Belgian chocolate varieties and the white chocolate twig special is out of Thai world! Getting quite pricey now but you get what you pay for and this stuff is real quality.

When Vanilla Joe's initially opened, it was fantastic - great portions, lovely friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The ice cream was very nice too :).

We've visited this place numerous times and we absolutely love it! This time we decided to sit in for a hot desert.. we both had the warm cookie dough with 2 scoops of ice-cream each we had the Scottish tablet, raspberry ripple, billionaires cheesecake and kinder, they were all amazing. As always the place was very busy but the staff work extremely well and the queues move very fast. £12 For two deserts of such high standard is a real bargain too.

Best ice cream I have ever had in Scotland. Creamy, made with fresh ingredients. The seating area is lovely too.

There’s not a lot to say here other than the first time I tried a vanilla joes I had an outer body experience. Just like the first bite of my very first ever Paesano pizza in Glasgow took me briefly to a higher place as did the tang of my lemon sorbet in Vanilla joes.

We are staying in Kilmarnock for a short break and drove into Irvine for dinner. Afterwards we drove to the harbour area and found this ice cream parlour with a queue out the door and thought it must be good and it was - ices so creamy and reasonable at £2.50 per tub! We have been here twice on our holidays so far despite the seven mile drive. Well worth a visit. There is seating inside and a disabled loo. Friendly customer service too.

Was nice, very stylish, a little bit on the expensive side but the treats are wonderful, definitely not what you would get from an average ice cream cafe.

Very good ice cream indeed! Reasonably priced compared with other places and best of all the flavours contain bits of the chocolate bars in them!

Having heard a lot about this place I thought it was time to try it out, there was not any unexpected flavour that jumped out at me, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed what I ordered but it's certainly not Renaldos. Which in my opinion always has been and always will be the best in the area.

Lots of lovely choices on the menu but for my first visit I only had time for a waffle cone to take away. Ice creams all looked great! Very tasty.

Wonderful ice cream and helpful staff with a nice atmosphere! The slide is super fun too, even for adults with a young heart! Highly recommend!

Met my daughters & grand daughter at this ice cream place. Was pleasantly surprised to find the larger property behind the original shop. There’s only one problem with these shops. The choice of ice creams are all too tempting. Pity you can’t get 10 scoop tub. All the freshly made ice creams all look fab. The Scottish tablet is to die for. Staff are always friendly too. The bigger shop is great for the kids with its large play slide. Great places.

Great Rasberry panna cotte ice cream. really friendly service. We use the little shop but there is a bigger restaurant round the side.

Always busy, Vanilla Joe’s is a must visit if you’re in the area. With plenty of choice you’re sure to find something you’ll enjoy and there’s more than ice cream on the menu. Seating is limited, however, and we couldn’t find a bin; it’s also quite expensive. A two-scoop waffle cone will set you back just under £4, which would be fine if the servings were generous, but they aren’t. On our last trip my wife and son ordered shakes. Again, these were pleasant enough, they just weren’t amazing. We like Vanilla Joe’s and will absolutely visit again, we just feel there’s something lacking.

Just wanted a couple of plain tubs of ice cream. What I didn't realise was this isn't really a genuine ice cream parlour. It's catering packs of liquid or powdered ice cream then dressed up as something special, which it isn't.

We went down from Glasgow over the Easter weekend and were pleasantly surprised by the choices of flavour! Would definitely recommend over the competition.

Visited Joes Irvine Fri 19th then Nardinis Largs on the 21st April 2019 Joes won hands down. Superb ice cream great service will be back again and again.

Visited for first time. Had Mango which was absolutely delicious and the staff were all so helpful. First but not the last.

Quick service and the ice cream was delicious. Perfect to get together with friends and family. Desserts like waffles and cookie dough are lovely.

Hi my daughter went in to buy vanilla ice cream and told staff she had nut allergy am hour later she was in hospital for 5 hours as they failed to clean the ice cream scoops properly so be ware when u visit

A bit disappointing after everything I'd heard about this place. Honestly didn't enjoy it. For the price I thought it would've been amazing but it was nothing special. Don't think I'll be buying from here again.

I haven’t been to the Irvine shop but today visited the Thornliebank branch for my son’s birthday and it was fantastic. Really broad range of ice cream flavours to choose from; many different sundae ideas and waffles! Kids got cones with irn bru sorbet, blue raspberry and vanilla. Hubby and I split a ferrero Roche sundae waffle thing and it was ah-mazing! The waffle was fresh and delicious with hot Nutella spread all over it and three scoops of ice cream. Nice touches like chopped hazelnut and halved actual ferrero roches. They had high chairs for the wee man too. Loved the decor, it was clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and moved around tidying up emptied tables promptly. Small-ish shop but a few tables. Didn’t use the bathrooms or anything so not sure how they are or if there’s baby change. Had a lovely time and a very happy wee boy. Was £15 but was a lot of food and high quality.

Ice cream is good but nothing special. There are better places in Ayrshire for ice cream. This time we visited The Factory restaurant. It was like being in a youth club and no class about it. There is no lift to the upper seating where most of the seats are considering we visited with 2 grandparents in their late 70’s and a 8 month old baby in a pram, which I am sure is illegal. Needless to say I won’t be back but glad I visited to settle the hype in my own mind...... which is not that good.

Not a lot to say apart from the fact that you can't beat Vanilla Joes for Ice Cream. Very friendly staff and a great choice of desserts on offer.

I honesty tend to leave any of the local restaurants to come here for desert after having a meal instead of looking at the i house menus as this place just genuinely has the best ice cream around . The make your own Sunday’s make me feel like a happy little fat pig

Order was forgotten so waited 30 mins before I acc got my food. Wasn’t too impressed. Company made up for the lack of a waffle being infront of me. Thouroughly dissapointed. Would still go back but cause the food is class .

I was disappointed to be charged £2.50 or £2.00 for a bottle of water.This is profiteering on a Grand Scale

So Vanilla Joe's has branched out and introduced a hot food menu, the only problem with today's visit was the fact that the hot food menu as you have guessed is frozen and requires to be cooked thoroughly before serving, this was not the case today as I was served a frozen chicken toastie which was a tad an on the expensive side considering it's not fresh and comes out the freezer. That being said the staff made a slight effort to rectify the issue.

Heard that they where now selling hot food. Thought mite be nice for lunch searched and searched could not find the menu ANNOYING. After going in found the Hot Food menu limited and expensive for what it was. I had a roll and bacon. They tried to make it sound fancy on the menu but it was not. Got a milkshake which sadly disappointing.

This is a very special place it has the most amazing ice cream and most friendly staff you will ever meet highly recommend this ice cream parlour

Been here a good few times with friends for ice cream and it is so tasty! Loads of different flavours to choose from and there is also the opportunity to have a selection of desserts such as waffles, cookie dough and brownies. Yum!

Visited with my grandson. Plenty of flavours of ice creams to pick from. Too many it's hard to decide what flavour to have. They also have vegan ice cream to choose from. Will be back again soon

Tried out the new Vanilla Joes venue round the back of the shop, plenty of comfortable seating and same good quality selection of desserts and coffee, staff were great, highly recommended 👍

I took my dad and nephew here on Sunday as a treat. It was the first time trying it out. Both of them were delighted with their choices. It’s a busy wee place but the staff get through the queue quickly and very pleasant too. Will definitely be back.

I love ice cream anyway but this place is my absolute favourite. The choice of flavours and dishes is awesome. Staff were really helpful and lovely to our three year old grandson. He had a Messy Plate and loved it! Will be back often to sample more delights.

Been many many times to Vanilla Joes but love the new shop! Choices of flavours is always great, sometimes too great to make a choice. Staff have always been helpful and friendly and like the gift vouchers too.

Tucked away close to the harbour side, my daughter and I sought this little hidden gem out for a Sunday morning treat and it did not disappoint. A stunning selection of ice cream made it almost impossible to choose. We ordered a warm white chocolate cookie dough to share, served with a fabulous toffee sauce and the smoothest creamiest vanilla ice cream on the side. And for added value, our coffee was served with the cutest mini raspberry ripple ice cream cones. Simply devine and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. A must visit if heading down the coast to Irvine.

The ice cream is amazing, flavours are great and so memorable. The new location is very nice and pleasant to have the option of being outdoors.

To expensive if you have more than one kid lovely ice cream though tuck in should have cheaper alternative

I bought a tub of Ice cream with 6 different flavours and I was honestly disappointed because I had heard so many good things about Vanilla Joe's but the flavours were just not there at all.

On a wonderful rainy ,windy day in Irvine we noticed this little parlour and decided to pop in and try the flavours on offer . Great experience even in the poor weather .

Ordered ice cream, asked for three scopes got two. The lady apologised, as she was training another member of staff, I hope she can count. Display of ice cream at sales counter was great, the amount we got was poor. Portion control was mean. The cost was over priced. Better off going to supermarket. The price was £16.95 for two ice creams. If they were more generous with portions and decoration at point of service, it might make for a better experience. Portion/size matters.

We used to love going into Vanilla Joes for ice cream. At £5 for x2 two scoop tubs, it was affordable. We went in last week and were shocked to find the price for the same two tubs had been hiked to £7!! This is greedy and unnecessary, and just too much for ice cream. Unfortunately, we won’t be frequenting the shop any more as it’s just too expensive :(

Wjat can i say.. I'm sorry I found this place.. their ice cream is horrendous... horrendously good that is... the staff are so polite and helpful and it has a fun family feel to beautifully tasting ice cream of many flavours... my fave was the kinder ... omg.... we can't wait for our next day off for the 75 mile drive there and 75 back just to eat this wonderful concoction of flavours....x

We visited vanilla joes ice cream factory thinking it would be great but we were very disappointed, it was very cold and dingy and quite cramped seating although it was not busy as it is not well advertised, the other shop was jumping, people obviously didn't know it was there, not a good layout at all and had a very little selection of ice cream compared to the shop. Ice cream is very overpriced too compared to other ice cream shops in Ayrshire. Service wasn't very fast either and there was no menus on tables just a black board at the front door which was a bit confusing i thought. Dont think ill be rushing back in a hurry

Lovely ice cream and the waffles are amazing. Slightly expensive but definitely worth a treat. My little girl had the 'messy plate' and enjoyed decorating her own ice cream with the small tubs of sprinkles and marshmallows etc

We were passing this place on the cycle route 7 from Eglinton to Irvine and was interested with the sign outside that they were the "Best Gelateria in Scotland". They had also won some awards in 2015 and 2016 (who won 2017 and 2018??) so we decided to give it a go!

We stayed in hotel next door and people were flocking to Vanilla joes for all flavours of ice cream .I maybe too picky but I have tasted better at Brae head in Glasgow but hats off to Vanilla joes as constant stream of cars stopping to get ice cream .

Went one day last week when temperatures had reached over 28 degrees. Friend recommended it so went. I can’t believe I hadn’t been before! Ice cream selection was vast, and so good. Wasn’t half as expensive as I initially expected - 2 scoops in a tub for £3.50. Would return

This must be the best ice cream in Scotland! Very decent range of flavours which was well explored by all the family. So good we did a return trip.

Workers handle money and ice cream cones with same hands without washing. Give you less ice cream if you take cone. Ruined my day and gave me stomach ache. Go to Loop and Scoop in Glasgow if you want proper ice cream!!!

If your on Ayrshire and want ice cream then there really is no other place to go. There's a multitude of icy tastes to freeze and tantalize your tongue. No other place compares.

We came here as it had been recommended and as we drove up to the shop there was a big queue which is always a good sign. When we got out the queue was at the door and the shop isn't designed for a long queue as there are also tables inside.

Even better food intolerances are shown. Was very busy due to great weather but couldnt fault service.

Best Ice Cream in Scotland by far. Try the raspberry ripple, it is out of this world. Although, so are all the other flavours.

A great find of a place with a comprehensive menu of ice cream concoctions that do not disappoint. Sit in, take out and delivery of locally made gelato and sorbets. I had the build your own banana split for my first sitting and a cone for my second, just to be sociable of course.
