Viceroy Tandoori in Birmingham

Have known this place for many years and always find the service very friendly and the food good. A consistent and enjoyable local dining experience.

Naan and chenna masala was good.

We came for a family pre-theatre meal and simply can’t fault a thing. On arrival we received a very friendly welcome, before being shown to our table. The restaurant itself has a lovely ambiance and lots of natural light. The food (we ordered starters and mains) was absolutely delicious and the portion size was really generous. Our party included two vegetarians and it was really nice to have so many options to choose from. We had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend The Viceroy.

Fantastic food! Fresh, tasty and with great service too. Would recommend anyone to visit when in the Birmingham area. Also helpful when accomodating a gluten free diner which was appreciated. Flavours of the food are wonderful, you will not be disappointed.

Birthday meal for my daughter last weekend. Food was outstanding, service impeccable and the restaurant was lovely. Wheelchair access to the main door was easy. Didn’t check out the WCs. On street parking nearby.

PLEASE AVOID. I found this place on google and thought I would give it a try. We got to the restaurant and asked for a table. Mind you, the restaurant was empty apart from one couple. The staff at the door didn't even give us a chance to get in the restaurant but instead stopped us at the door and said they were fully booked and we could not dine there. We were very confused as the restaurant was empty and so we questioned this, and the staff member said all tables are reserved. We went to the car, and I just knew what we were told was a lie. We called our friend who is white (mind you, we are a black couple) and asked her to call the restaurant to see if she could get a table for right now. She called the restaurant, and they told her she could come down now as they were not busy or booked. This proved that at the door, they were, in fact, lying and did not want to serve us. I do not believe every bad situation is due to race, but this I believe definitely was as they were not booked and busy as they said. Very disappointing experience. But I'm glad I didn't even get a chance to spend my money in this business.

We were a group of 18 workmates who booked quite late considering it was a week before Christmas, but the manage was friendly and helpful. On the night, the whole experience was fantastic! Great food in the set menu, the vegetarians and the one vegan also catered for and happy with their food too. Decor is nice, service is excellent and fantastic curry at a decent price. There’s even a great pub round the corner - what’s not to love! We will be back. Thanks!

My partner and I had a lovely time at Viceroy two nights ago. The painting and decorating and decor was tasteful and well done. The food was delicious! And the service was superb. They were so friendly and accommodating. I am on a low FODMAP diet as I have UC, and they kindly prepared a dish for me especially, with no judgment or issues. I felt very grateful for this. Would absolutely recommend. Additionally, it was good value.

With some very good curry’s in the area the standards have to be pretty high for me to vote you my number one curry in Birmingham but this food was 10/10 so it’s my new favourite. We were sharing and got some fantastic recommendations based on our preferences. I highly recommend and look forward to my next visit. Be sure to ask for some recommendations as they were spot on.

Viceroy made us feel special and provided a feast that was absolutely delicious. From the first bite in to the huge king prawn that was the best I've tasted, to the starters that were substantial enough as a meal on their own. The main course was a selection from a range of dishes starting with a delicate but full of flavour beef curry, through to a more robust fish curry that left a warm heat and finished with spicy chicken hot enough to make lips tingle. An ice cream eased the pallet back to normality with sweet coconut and cream covering a thick sponge. Even the after dinner coffee was bursting with aroma before a 14 year old single malt closed off the meal. We could not have asked for more. The service was friendly and we were treated to a remarkable dining experience. The atmosphere was fresh and contemporary with traditional music at just the right level to allow a conversation. Highly recommended for an excellent evening.

Actually a very pleasant experience. Very upmarket service, for reasonable city pricing. Clean, modern and gentle background music that keeps you chatting. Our first time at Viceroy and cannot fault the food or the service. The team are lovely and the food was absolutely impeccable. We had several of the vegetarian options with the onion bhajee being a particular highlight. The side salad that came with it was fantastic on its own!
