16/03/2017: I have been visiting Le Vacherin regularly for the past fifteen years or so,… and I have never been dissapointed by the place. Great traditional setting and decor, the service is great and attentive though discreet, and the food is excellent and as good as the standard you would expect from more high end eateries like the Ramsay's or Marco Pierre White's in central London, or La Trompette on the other side of Chiswick.
20/02/2017: Our experience in Le Vacherin on Valentine's day was disappointing. One of us had to eat gluten free so that had been specified when booking. Just to make sure we had telephoned a few days in advance to discuss that requirement and were assured it would be met.On arrival before 7 pm, we were shown to a table closely alongside two other people although the restaurant was fairly empty.People arriving after us had their included champagne cocktail delivered promptly but ours came with the first course. That first course of a four-course menu was a dish the gluten sensitive person could not eat.The waitress was not aware of the booking requirement so the manager was called. He had limited communication skills but offered to have the chef prepare an alternative cold dish. We pointed out that should have happened before we arrived.A request for gluten free bread was met with the response "We don't have any."For the second course, one of us was served a different dish to the one ordered. The other dish was adapted to omit flour, advantageously, by substituting warm quail's eggs for Scotch egg.The main courses were delicious and well prepared but with little attention to presentation on Valentine's day.The French style of having few vegetables was evident. A succulent duck dish needed more than a sliver of grilled endive.Choices for the final course were limited but a reasonable creme brulee suited both diners.

Roux at The Landau

West End, City of London,Westminster, >100£
19/03/2017: I can't imagine why I haven't been here before for brunch - cocktails in Artesian I've done several times and very much enjoyed - and this was just next door.I don't think the menu will win awards for adventurousness, but my goodness it is classic food executed well - not so easy to achieve for a crowd. Perfect model for brunch - starters are out buffet style - delicate smoked duck and green bean salad, smoked salmon in lovely thick, fresh slices with 'scandi' style beetroot and black quinoa salads - delicious with the home made granary and crisp style breads. A highlight for me was the tureen - if you know the Roux family you expect a lot from a Roux tureen and this so did not disappoint. Delicate ham hock, herbs and flavourful jelly - maybe even a few peas? best thing I ate. I am now trawling eBay for a classic tureen pot to try my hand - room temperature is key, I think. The main was not as well executed - veal carvery was just okay and the jus (gravy) was nice, but honestly not much nicer than I can do - and the champagne braised Savoy cabbage was far too salty - the whole dish had a 'been-too-long-under-the -heat-lamp' feel to it - disappointingly. However I was completely won over again by the dauphinoise - oh wow, very special. Creamy, garlicky, light, thinly prepared potato perfection with a beautifully crispy top. Mmm. Now for the dessert fans out there, I'm no sweet tooth - if we hadn't been the last sitting I'd have gone back to the tureen or the salmon but they were gone. So I tried a few of the sweets and the beautiful-looking mini muffin was way too lemony, the apple tart was bitter (maybe alcohol - I'm anti-alcohol in sweets) and the chocolate cream profiterole was lovely. But I still would have preferred another slice of ham hock, please. All said and done, Albert Roux's delicious free-pour champagne would bring me back again and again. No chance Roux at the Landau isn't making the regular list.
17/03/2017: We certainly had looked forward to having lunch at this restaurant. The room itself is nice but the tables for two by the windows are very close together. It is the food that is so disappointing. I may not be a Michelin Chef but I could have produced a much more interesting ( and tasty) menu. We had the menu of the day at around £50 for 3 courses. This includes some wine and coffee. The starter ( an asparagus salad) lacked any flavour or wow factor, ditto the cod served with some puree ( nothing else). There was a wide selection of cheeses served with some stale celery. Grapes were provided on request. I cannot believe that this chef Roux would have thought that this is the kind of food that anyone would consider a treat. It was very mediocre ( and that is being kind).

16/03/2017: We had a Red Letter package deal which had included a boat trip along the Thames (highly recommend). Anyway, arrived a bit early for our meal and instantly welcomed into the restaurant. Very friendly staff, who showed us to our table and served us with our welcome champagne cocktail. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and delicious. It was my birthday and as a very special touch, Lorena, the Restaurant Manager, presented me with a slice of birthday cake with a message on and a glass of bubbly. What a lovely touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our day in London. We sat in front of the window which we liked, as it is fun to people watch whilst eating! Lorena and staff were excellent and made our evening a memorable one. Thank you.
01/03/2017: We have visited this place during quiet evening..Staff were so friendly with good serving skills..The food was ok not really special

Fahrenheit Restaurant & Bar

04/03/2017: Nice menu well cooked food served by pleasent staff - exactly the way it should be. Steaks are normally very good but I had the Thai curry fish with prawns and this was excellent.
15/02/2017: Had a great meal and was well looked after when visiting at the weekend with a stag group of 20. Everyone was very happy with their meals and with the drink and free bet offer it was very reasonable. Would certainly visit again when hopefully a little luckier on the roulette. Special mention to our waitress who patiently took 9 card payments!

04/02/2017: Had a great evening. I had a steak which was amazing in taste. Good price for 3 courses. All in a separate room away from the gambling but was able to go through for a gamble after. Staff where also very helpful and friendly
04/02/2017: I had a 3 course meal here. Ribs for starters, pork belly with apple cider sauce, onion mash and cabbage followed by an Eton mess special for dessert and it all tasted amazing, I was so full afterwards. I couldn't fault the service either. Very attentive, didn't leave you waiting too long. They had a good offer on 2 for 1 cocktails as well so I obviously took advantage of that! I recommend anyone to come and eat here and I would definitely come back here again :)

17/03/2017: We visited quaglinos to celebrate my daughter receiving her duke of Edinburgh award from HRH Duke of Edinburgh. The table was great near the stage where the band played. we had the set menu and a glass of bubbly. Beautiful starters and delicious beef that melted in your mouth. service was excellent and we loved the band who were great. My only slight complaint was that we we were charged for the band. I did not mind paying but it was not explained at time of booking just added to the bill. A bit cheeky. Would go again though.
16/03/2017: Last went to Quaglinos nearly 30 years ago - too long. Sunday lunch was great, beautifully decorated with a subtle Jazz trio playing as we ate, wonderful

14/03/2017: Me & my partner enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal here yesterday evening.I was impressed from the second I entered the restaurant till the second I left. The staff were very welcoming. The food came within 10 minutes of ordering it and the gaps between courses was just right (simple but annoying when you feel like you are been rushed out. Or worse waiting what seems like a eternity between courses). We opted for a set price 3 courses and house Champagne. I would defiantly recommend this option. We will defiantly be visiting next time we are in London.
14/03/2017: We were a party of 8 for the set 3 course lunch for £25 (plus an extra £5 if you wanted to add a glass of wine - very good value!). Bearing in mind it was a Saturday and the restaurant soon filled up, we were impressed that we were able to have a leisurely meal and were not hurried in any way. The staff were welcoming, friendly and accommodating, lowering the blinds when the sunlight made it too hot, changing a burger which was not quite as "well done" as expected and even taking a group photo for us all.As for the food, I would recommend the roasted goat's cheese to start and the roasted chicken leg for main course which was beautifully complemented with the crunch of hazelnuts and a delicious, quite sweet grape jus. I was only slightly disappointed with the passion fruit creme brûlée and mango sorbet as it was quite large in diameter but a little shallow and not very warm. An extra welcome touch was a complimentary box of mini croissants and pain au chocolat which was served along with a basket of a variety of breads. All in all, delicious food, good but not too fussy service and a lovely venue so I will definitely be returning.

Galvin Bistrot de Luxe

Marylebone High Street, City of London,Westminster
19/03/2017: Visited Bistrot again for the fixed price menu, we were celebrating my daughter and wife's birthday and wanted to be assured of great food and service. As usual Galvin didn't disappoint, all the staff were friendly and accommodating, food and wines were absolutely beautiful, thank you so much for a lovely afternoon. The restaurant was busy and lively, good to see other people appreciate a great place to eat.
18/03/2017: This was an excellent value fixed menu, You need to book online or tell them you want this before you arrive otherwise you have to go for the other menu options. There is a wine option to go with the courses for £19 which made this lunch delicious. The service was superb. portions are small but we enjoy to eat in this way at lunch. A really lovely introduction to the food at this bistrot, will definitely return for the a la carte menu. Attentive staff, nice wait time between courses. A smashing lunch.

The Montagu

22 offers
Bryanston and Dorset Square, City of London,Westminster, 60-100£
15/03/2017: This was a business dinner with a largish group but we were met efficiently, coats taken and seated quickly. Bread and wine arrived quickly but it took a long time to take our order (perhaps there was confusion regarding the final number of us expected). The food was OK but the crab starter was underwhelming and the pork was dry in parts although the apricot salsa lifted it a bit. The wine and bread were good. Slight confusion about retrieving coats but staff very helpful. This is quite an expensive restaurant and the quality of the food doesn't justify this.
03/02/2017: Interestingly, the Montagu Restaurant, within the 5 star Churchill Hotel, is named for the wealthy Montagu family whose home, Montagu House, once stood on this site, adjacent to Portman Square. In the 18th century, Elizabeth Montagu ran one of the most famous literary and artistic salons in London and encouraged well-to-do women to pursue intellectual interests rather than mere fashion. She founded the Blue Stocking Society to promote these ideas and was, perhaps, an early exemplar of Women's Lib.The present, ground floor restaurant certainly continues a tradition of elegance being laid out with stylish modern decor and subtle grey and black furnishings. It also opens onto the large kitchen where customers can see the chefs at work.Service is discreet and impeccable, and the staff are very welcoming. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. There is an international menu and wine list. The food is generally of a high standard and attractively presented: the fixed price lunches, in particular, usually offer good value. There are views from the side windows over Portman Square and you can anticipate a peaceful, relaxing meal in beautiful, modern surroundings.

16/03/2017: 8 of us went for a birthday celebration. Got a lovely round table. Had the £14.95 3 course menu. The rump was really nice & peanut butter cheesecake was amazing!!! Staff were very friendly & helpful. It was a Wednesday so not much going on but still a great night
13/03/2017: A lovely night out for a meal with Southend Tangent Club and their husbands. A really great value meal.

Cantina Laredo

19/03/2017: I live in Oakland California which one of the great centers of mexican food originating from the west coast of Mexico which includs Oaxaca and Jalisco cuisine. We have hundreds of mexican restaurants and taquerias ranging from average to fantastic. But the cooking is more down to earth catering to local mexicans who demand the real thing at prices hard working laborers can afford. We have authentic renditions of everything from shrimp/fish ceviche, shrimp tostadas, whole fried mojarra, and exotic seafood birria de chivo, al pastor tacos, chile rellenos and quesadillas de carnitas. With all of the amazing salsas It is a never ending exciting culinary experience with the cooks rarely speaking English.Cantina Laredo is a complete different experience. It is a substantial menu with a wide range of creative gourmet renditions like nothing we would ever see in would have to travel to Mexico city where gourmet upscale mexican food is the norm. While I can't say everything we had was was exceptional.we had:guacamole - correctly done. The lime juice was excellent quality/fresh and small pieces of aguacate traditional. The chips were good but seemed out of a bag and not fresh fried as we have in Oakland. Fresh fried totopos are hard to beat.pico de gallo - excellent because they used tasty tomatoes and that same good lime juice only thing missing was either chopped jalapeno or serrano. I ordered this even tho not on the menuBBQ'd skewers of sweet potato/beets with a fabulous dipping saucetempura prawns - have no idea how this dish got on the menu but it was perfectly done with sweet/delicate prawns and a soy dipping sauce with some sugar/lime/chile. There is long established asia food influence on the west coast of mexico but am not sure if you could find tempuradeep fried battered squid - a real winner cooked quickly to preserve softness with another fantastic Mexican style dipping sauceMarinated bbq'd beef skewers - high quality beef, great marinade, smoky flavor, with a very very hot short green fresh chili between each piece of meat which created nice heat.....these are not mexican chilis but beware they are HOTcarnitas tortas -2 small slider type rolls fresh and soft with excellent carnitas and bean filling with a touch of aguacateThe margaritas were excellent. The churros were spectacular. All in a a world class meal but expect to pay the dishes are small and pricey.Service was top class.....our waiter Forhad was a delight, super attentive, fast helpful.
19/03/2017: I've been to Cantina Laredo a few times in the past couple of years with the same friends, and it's always been pretty good with the guacamole made at the table as the star of the show. That was still delicious, but at £8 for one avocado and a few tasteless tortilla chips it was overpriced. Then the main courses - we all ordered fajitas - not my favourite usually but being vegetarian there wasn't much else to order unless I wanted a quinoa-filled chilli pepper (no thanks). It didn't come on a sizzling plate and the vegetables were not what I'd put in a wrap - asparagus, cherry tomatoes - very un Mexican. Even my meat-eating friend wasn't impressed. Was massively overpriced at nearly £30 for half a starter (the guacamole), main and a bit of fresh mint in water!! I wouldn't have minded had portions been bigger and more appropriate to the Mexican cuisine. We all decided we will not return. The menu should never have changed.

Launceston Place

Queen's Gate, Kensington and Chelsea, 60-100£
13/03/2017: Location: Close from Gloucester tube station, but a bit out of the city centre. Service: impeccable comes to mind. Very attentive but not intrusive. A good balance of friendly service that is not matched by many restaurants in London.Food: I loved the food. Very creative and inventive. The pictures on the webpage come alive when you see the dishes in front of you. Wine list: Hmmmm, very good wines on the list. Great selection of top wines. You will have trouble to find some of them in the top merchants in Mayfair such as Hedonism. Summary: best way to spend Sunday lunch in London.
12/03/2017: Had dinner here as a party of six last night, food was simply brilliant and the service was polite and personable. The Iberica pork with aubergine was an especially stand out course. The wines were paired very well. Only complaint was that the whole service took over 5 hours with quite long waits between courses. Otherwise would fully recommend a visit

05/02/2017: The staff here are lovely and will look after you with a genuine smile on their face. We hadn't booked and didn't intend to eat here, but glad we did. I had the prawns to start 6 huge juicy and piping hot, delicious. My husband had the special of the day a beetroot and feta salad but got no beetroot - he enjoyed it all the same! He then had the cod with potato rostie again amazingly cooked, my sirloin steak was slightly over cooked I asked for medium rare but still melt in the mouth, I agree with previous comment that the chips were undercooked but my husband said they were delicious so it must be down to the way you like'um! I don't think I would book this restaurant for a special occasion but if I was in town or wanted food when at the casino I certainly wouldn't look elsewhere.
02/02/2017: Excellent staff, great price, the staff went out of their way to help with your needs. Great place and casino is great.
