Midsummer House

Market, Cambridge
19/01/2017: The warm welcome we received on arrival set the scene and we instantly felt relaxed. Make time to enjoy a drink and the little canapé works of art that will be presented to you whilst sipping that something bliss, sitting in the glass lounge overhanging the river Camb. It was a delight. The dining room is bright, comfy with well spaced tables. There was a sound of calm from the knowledgeable staff and the ripples of delight from the other diners. You felt everything was in perfect control, which left you the guest to sink back and just enjoy. All the dishes presented were rather wow and tasted even more so. We left it to the Sommelier to advise us on wines and we truly loved her recommendations. Front of house lead by Marc were superb, with their enthusiasm shining through and that was the case until they had waved us off. It was the same balance of professional passion throughout our stay. Will be shouting our praise to all who will listen.
15/01/2017: Been looking forward to this visit for months. We had a bit of sketchy start, felt a bit intimidated and then the champagne trolley trundled over ( like a throw back to the 70's?) while I was looking at the wine bible they had handed me... Some of the wines in this encyclopaedia were more than I earn in a month and no price was given on the extensive glasses of bubbly that were offered - fearing these glasses could be a weeks wages I slightly starteldly ordered a beer :)I guess they presume everyone that comes doesn't need to worry about money where as I had saved to come here. The second amuse bouch or horderve... what ever turned up - it was the single best thing that I've ever tasted, a celery sobert aparantely, awesome. Next dish was some kind of squash veloute I can still taste it now it was stunning, things continued in this fashion..I will be saving for another trip here but still don't think I'll pick a randomly priced glass of champagne.

black apollo

Holt, North Norfolk
17/01/2017: The best coffee cafe in a continental style, serving the best coffee in Norfolk. Small and intimate , worth wainting for if tables are unavailable.
17/01/2017: Easily the best coffee shop in Norfolk! The coffee is brilliant, the food is divine, staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and the shop (and toilet) are impeccably clean. The constant hustle and bustle of this shop is proof enough of how popular it is. Limited seating so get there early!

St Benedicts Restaurant

Mancroft, Norwich, 30-45£
19/01/2017: Business lunch made really special by the surroundings, atmosphere & food!Superb food beautifully presented with very friendly informal feel. You could go there dressed up or jeans. Excellent champagne
18/01/2017: Our first meal at Benedicts was a Christmas present from our daughter & son in law. It was such an enjoyable experience. I have been a vegetarian for over 50 years & I can honestly say it was the best tasting vegetarian food I have tasted. The attention to detail was perfect & they remembered for each course that I didn't like mushrooms. The staff were all lovely & helpful. Definately be visiting again. Can't wait!!! Thank you ☺

The Shed

St Andrews, Great Yarmouth
16/01/2017: My wife and I had wanted to visit here for some time. We loved the intimacy of the little restaurant and how friendly the staff were. We were disappointed there was no lobster but we were certainly not disappointed with the alternatives we were offered or the lengths the chef went to, to create something to suit my pregnant wife's palate. I'm looking forward to our next visit. Slightly disappointed with ourselves for having not been here sooner, I've eaten the best restaurants in Paris and london but not Gorleston just down the road.
20/12/2016: The Shed never disappoints. From the warm friendly welcome, to the welcoming ambience and the absolutely perfectly cooked meal. Our preference is for seafood, and tonight's mussels followed by halibut were absolutely perfect - could not be bettered! Robbie the chef is a star! Thank you all!

Pamela's Restaurant

Nelson, Great Yarmouth, 30-45£
16/01/2017: This place is amazing, from start to finish! The greeting from Mimi is professional yet warm. The setting is incredible - smart, stylish, plush, warm and friendly, too.The food is excellent, as are the service and the ambiance. We had a meal with a friend, and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. We would jump at the chance to visit again.
05/01/2017: Came with 2 other friends and all made sure we ordered different things to see everything they had.was really impressed by the visuals of the food even more so by the taste of the duck leg I 30 pounds for 2 courses and complimentary cocktail is also good value for incredible quality.cannot wait to return.

Mrs Salisburys Famous Tea Rooms

Maldon North, Maldon
14/01/2017: I've heard about this cafe for some time and managed to fit in lunch today. We went for a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich and a chicken and bacon sandwich. Each was served with salad, coleslaw and kettle chips. Quality of the good was excellent even at a very busy time. The staff were friendly and courteous. Prices were reasonable. This café easily justifies its other reviews!I will be going back! There is also a cakeshop section which is well worth a look; the cakes are superb!
12/01/2017: This place is tiny and very quaint, just off the high street. Popped in for lunch for our first ever visit and the waitress could not have been more welcoming offering us a choice of upstairs or down. We weren't rushed despite most tables being full. Our order came quickly and was well presented. We didn't have room for cake sadly but the tea was plentiful and proper leaf tea served in a silver pot. We'll be back for cake very soon!!

Vita Bella

Bicknacre and East and West Hanningfield, Chelmsford, 45-60£
18/01/2017: I went to this restaurant with a friend and we ate mid week off the set menu. Our starters were excellent. I had the aubergine dish which was surprisingly light and had a lovely flavour. For main course I had the pork belly which was good but nothing special. The apple part of the dish was a bit bland and the dish would have benefited from some gravy or jus. The desserts were fabulous and we also enjoyed our wine choices. The service was excellent - staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They were attentive without being obtrusive. We would definitely go there again.
17/01/2017: My husband and I have been visited many times over the last 18 months. We have visited with our young family, the whole family and also friends, and we have eaten mid week lunchtimes, mid week evenings, weekend evenings and a couple of times over Christmas. What keeps us longing for more, and also confidently recommending to friends, is that not only are both the service and food consistent but they also manage to exceed our expectations too.

Maison Bleue Restaurant

Abbeygate, St Edmundsbury
18/01/2017: Went here for a pre wedding evening meal with family. Waited ages to get our order taken. Even longer for food to be served. One of our party ordered pizza. They asked three times where it was. Eventually it came. But they forgot the salad they ordered. Wouldn't recommend if in a hurry. Food was overpriced for what we had. Nearly £15 for burger and chips
17/01/2017: We booked this restaurant for a very special occasion. With very high expectations, the food was outstanding, service was exceptional and the overall experience was delightful from beginning to end.The restaurant just adds a touch of class and elegance to every plate!

Quayside Plaza

Nelson, Great Yarmouth, <20£
17/01/2017: Good Portuguese food. Our family went there for a birthday meal which we all enjoyed. The waiters were very attentive and advised us about the various foods on their menu
17/01/2017: Angelo and his team have created a fabulous place to eat whether a family lunch or grabbing a quick baguette to eat at your desk. I love this place and have eaten here for years and I am never disappointed. It is full of favourites but done with a Portuguese twist. The coffee alone is worth a visit. Quayside re-opens the 22nd January and if you get a chance book on their theme nights, the food is a whole new experience.

Morston Hall Restaurant

Glaven Valley, North Norfolk, 60-100£
19/01/2017: Fab food as ever. Somewhat formal setting. Excellent value for money given quality of experience. I prefer evening to lunch experience.

The Mulberry

Thetford-Castle, Breckland, 45-60£
18/01/2017: This was our first visit, we had heard many good reports prior to visiting, & we were not disappointed! Both the food and service were superb. Highly recommended
12/01/2017: Was back at Center Parcs over NY, obviously not a place you go for food ! We always look forward to our Mulberry visit and we were again not disappointed ! Karen who runs the restaurant is great and always very welcoming and enthusiastic about their food, which is superb. A Taxi ride from Center Parcs is like £14 each way so you can enjoy a few drinks whilst you sit here relaxing....providing you got some older kids in your group looking after the little ones !!!! Wished this place was closer to home as it would be a firm favourite. Service here always spot on, very well priced, top quality ingredients, cant fault the place....look forward to our next visit....

Ristorante Il Piccolo Mondo

Bottisham, East Cambridgeshire
18/01/2017: My wife and I have visited this restaurant a number of times with family and friends and we have always been very pleased with the food and service, because it is so good you have to book so far in advance to ensure you can eat there.
17/01/2017: We we visited for a friend's birthday treat. Four of us sat down to delicious Italian food. Such a good menu with especially interesting range of really fresh fish. Desserts were tasty. Good wine list. ..served at the right temperature. Friendly but not intrusive service . Relaxed ambience.

The Plough at Bolnhurst

Wyboston, Bedford
18/01/2017: As a family, we have been dining at The Plough for years, and had many special occasions there. It is always fantastic, wonderful food, a lovely atmosphere and super staff.
17/01/2017: Great lunch with friends. Food, service and ambience excellent. Pricey for the area but definitely worth it!

The Duck Inn

Docking, King's Lynn and West Norfolk
19/01/2017: Myself and two friends visited The Duck Inn last weekend after having many recommendations from the local people in neighbouring villages. The Duck certainly did not disappoint!! The roast pork and roast beef were both delicious, decent sized portions with green vegetables and a lovely cauliflower cheese, our request for extra gravy was fulfilled very quickly but the polite and friendly wait staff. The puddings were gorgeous - treacle and pecan tart, banana cheesecake, chocolate brownie pie - and finished off our meal perfectly.A lovely gem in the Norfolk countryside which is well deserving of all its foodie awards.
18/01/2017: We booked a table for eight on New Years Day and we were shown to the garden room. This was good as the main restaurant was very busy at 4 pm. The service and the food was excellent with two children catered for as well. We were not hurried along with our meal and we enjoyed the relaxed time at the dining table. The bill was not quite right as we had been charged for someone elses wine. But this was no problem and the bill was adjusted accordingly. This earned them a nice tip.

The Galley

Seckford, Suffolk Coastal
17/01/2017: This restaurant is a brilliant venue to have lunch or dinner with friends. The owner and staff are very friendly and welcoming which adds to the comfortable atmosphere. The menu has an excellent choice across all courses and the food is unbelievably good delivered with a smile by attentive staff.A must visit if you are looking for good food, reasonable prices and ambience.
12/01/2017: We went to The Galley for a friend's 50th birthday and had a fantastic night. The food was great and the service was excellent.
