Gauthier Soho

West End, City of London,Westminster, 60-100£
17/01/2017: Booked here for lunch for a girls day out in London based on the trip advisor reviews as wanted to try somewhere different to our usual haunts....so pleased that I did!On arrival initially shown to a table upstairs in a private room. Asked to be moved as wanted the atmosphere of the main restaurant and we were quickly accommodatedGiven a lovely table by the window. We decided to choose the fixed price lunch with champagne & wine. Champagne to start, followed by Beetroot amuse bouche with Parmesan crisp...delightful!Truffle risotto starter was amazing & worth every penny of the supplement. Butternut squash went down well too.Pork done 2 ways was fantastic with a lovely picpoul de pinetA little creme brûlée taster and then cheese selection. Coffee & petite fours to finish off!Just delicious...didn't want it to end!Service attentive but not over fussy. A great place, great location & atmosphere, with amazing food! Would certainly recommend!
16/01/2017: We had a wonderful time at Gauthier Soho, last week. The staff were very attentive and unobtrusive, carefully attending to our needs in an efficient yet friendly and welcoming manner. All four of us chose the lunch menu with wine. This was simply superb; there were a range of choices and each was carefully presented and delicious. We were also provided with complementary canapés, pre-dessert and petit fours, which were all equally delectable. The wines were excellent and matched the food extremely well. All in all, we had a superb time and cannot recommend Gauthier Soho highly enough. It is truly outstanding and we will definitely return soon.

Gordon Ramsay

Royal Hospital, Kensington and Chelsea, >100£
19/01/2017: Wanted to go on previous trips to London. Finally made it. Well worth the wait. Only one word to describe it Excellent! Not crazy about a lot of food in London but this is top of the line and we have eaten in restaurants all over the world. If you can get a reservation don't miss it. A must. Great place Gordon!
19/01/2017: I bought my wife a masterclass experience for her birthday which meant that she would be grafting in the kitchen all morning and I would saunter in just in time for lunch demanding to be wined and dined.I wasnt aware that the restaurant doesn't open over the weekend so the only customers were the 'trainee chefs' and their guests. My wife said that she had the most fantastic time in the kitchen and that Matt and his team could not have been more helpful and friendly - she was quite nervous beforehand as she isnt, by her own admission, the most accomplished cook in the world but it didnt make a difference and she was immediately put at ease. When I arrived, i was greeted with a glass of champagne and shown to a table. This is my only slight criticism of the entire event... if it wasnt for one of the other guests beckoning me over to her table, I and the subsequent arriving guests could have been sat in a rather isolated, awkward silence until being seated for lunch but possibly fuelled by one or more glasses of champagne, my new best friend set the tone for what turned out to be a superb afternoonWhen the chefs arrived, they joined us for a well earned glass of bubbly and they all commented how hot it was in the kitchen and how much they'd enjoyed watching and participating in the preparation and cooking of the food. There were two tables of six in the entire restaurant and in turn, each was invited into the kitchen to watch the participants plate up each course - there was no issue with us taking in cameras and snapping away and it was obvious that in the limited time everyone had spent together, there was a great rapport between the entire team (professionals and not quite professionals). It's pointless me going into too much detail about the food as it has been well covered by other reviews and despite my wife's best endeavours, it was unsurprisingly, excellent. Each course was accompanied by a delicious wine and our glasses were attentively replenished which was much appreciated. At no time did we feel as though were being rushed, the front of house team made us feel very comfortable and it was a very leisurely lunch indeed. My wife said that it was one of the best experiences of her life and she would thoroughly recommend it - from my perspective, it was a great occasion in a very relaxed atmosphere eating superb food and drinking lovely wine with delightful company - what more could I ask for?

The Ritz Restaurant

St James's, City of London,Westminster
19/01/2017: Our evening at the Ritz was amazing! This place just oozes class. We booked last minute on a champagne three course deal which was almost too good to be true. An absolutely gorgeous meal of the highest standard you could get ANYWHERE in the world. The service is just the best although being the Ritz you wouldn't expect anything less.Well done the Ritz for a truly first class experience .Highly recommended.

The Goring Dining Room

St James's, City of London,Westminster
18/01/2017: Not a huge choice, but around seven choices in each starter, main, desert. All amazing! I found I could have had my food hotter, but then my husband said it was fine. Overall, the service was faultless, attention without being intrusive. Can't wait to go back.
17/01/2017: We expected a very fine dining experience before we got here, and The Goring Dining Room did not disappoint. From the moment we were seated, wonderful services provided, ambiance, presentation, and most notably the delicious food (especially the Beef Wellington), we were extremely happy to have been here. We certainly shall return for more of this place in the future.

Le Gavroche

West End, City of London,Westminster
19/01/2017: Sometimes one yearns for the classic over the modern. If one can level any minor criticism at Le Gavroche is that there is nothing remarkably ambitious about its lunchtime menu, which perhaps explains the stately, (staid?) clientele, but it is not really a criticism because our lunch was perfectly cooked and presented. The service was also impeccable, we were not rushed and we were never made to wait. The icing on the cake (-although, whilst the "Guinness cake sounded tempting, we opted for the cheese board) was that we met the charming Monsieur Roux when he came over to our table in order to greet us, which was a delightful touch. Overall it was excellent value and we will be returning.
17/01/2017: Memorable, for all the right reasons. Impeccable service together with well chosen wine pairings for a set lunch of excellent food made this a dining experience to be savoured. Note: make the next booking with plenty of notice!

Clos Maggiore

St James's, City of London,Westminster, 45-60£
17/01/2017: Birthday meal in this amazing restaurant. Definitely book early and ask to be seated in the conservatory, you will be surrounded by flowers. Too beautiful for words. And the food definitely exceeded expectations. Delicious!

14/01/2017: Our whole table opted for the tasting menu and not a single person was left wanting. The food and wine was delicious, the staff attentive and helpful, and the atmosphere pleasant. Would definately return for another fantastic dinner.
12/01/2017: We had booked the Kitchen Table which has direct views, from a semi-circular private booth, over the central pass in the kitchen. Just the most delightful dining experience. From the uber-attentive, yet thoroughly discreet service, to the exquisite food. Every single one of the seven courses was an absolute delight. There was so much atmosphere downstairs in the kitchen. The chef, for each course, came to our table and explained their dish to us. They were so unflustered and professional. All in all, I just can't think of anything not to like about the whole experience. Will definitely return and would not hesitate to recommend. We stayed so late into the afternoon that the poor chefs had cleared down and were eating their own lunch between starting over again! We really do apologise for the intrusion into their rest time.

Pied a Terre

Bloomsbury, Camden
18/01/2017: Everything was really good! We arrived for lunch about an hour ahead of our booked time, but it did not seem to bother the team at all. We chose had the 3 course business lunch menu, which was delicious, and excellent value. Amuses bouches and breads were also very good, and the sommelier was friendly, knowledgable and made an excellent recommendation for us.The atmosphere was warm and relaxed.
16/01/2017: Always top of our list of places to eat in London.Again the best lunch of our visit. The set lunch was three course with a choice between two dishes for each course. The starter of ceviche of sea bream was excellent with lots of flavours and textures to delight the palette. The egg yolk and winter truffle starter maybe surpassed it though.Mains were Guinea fowl or pollack .Both beautifully presented.Choice of cheese or a dessert of green tea ice cream /lime combination.Strong flavours and a variety of textures. We opted for wines to match each dish and were delighted with the wines the sommelier offered.Lovely breads and coffee.Worth going for the professional waiters, sommeliers and of course the food.Highly recommend.

Kazan

Warwick, City of London,Westminster, >100£
18/01/2017: Sono stato in questo ristorante con degli amici e devo dire che è stata un esperienza unica! Ordinato su suggerimento dei piatti particolari della cucina Ottomana. Consigliatissimo!
18/01/2017: Good food overall. Mixed meze and kebabs are well presented and tastes good. If only it had Turkish tea and of course complementary warm bread. I would not even call a restaurant Turkish if they don't have turkish tea, good quality olives and warm bread. Pricewise it's mid market. Music is belly dance music, again not really goes well with a well decorated mid range business type dining....

18/01/2017: visited this place a few times for some lunches and the service was great. the dishes are quite small portions but they are using really good quality products. the dish presentation is also very nicely done.
14/01/2017: A very warm and highly professional welcome to this restaurant, our first visit, but recommended by close friends who also love their food.We took their recommendation & opted for the tasting (marché or market) menu plus wines paired to each course by the sommelier. A fab experience for a treat which we highly recommend.French cooking at its best with stunning presentation and great attention to detail. All of the staff were delightful and the chef and team clearly know their craft really well.We were seated by the wall on the left as you go in, so nice and intimate, but none of the tables seemed poor locations, as you would expect from a restaurant of this quality. Not a stuffy place though, just high standard. (I removed my tie as it was pretty warm, but I think I was the only one so attired anyway!)The pudding & sorbet were exceptional but every dish was excellent. It didn't seem appropriate to take photos or notes. Sorry! That'll teach me to write a review of a multi-dish meal sooner after the event! But they did say they were re-working the menu, so...They were about to close for a refit and we will certainly return.

Made in South

Shaftesbury, Wandsworth
14/01/2017: Pizza ottimaOttimo prezzo Non e salata il pomodorino sopra e buonissima Vale la pena provare se siete in zona.....
07/01/2017: Vera pizza Napoletana that's all I gotta say! Fresh, tasty and just perfect! It's so much better than Franco Manca or Pizza Pilgrims which people who doesn't have a clue about good pizza hype so much. Those places sell fake Neapolitan pizza, Made in South is the real deal! The only other pizzeria worth mentioning in London is Santa Maria in Ealing. There are also a couple good new ones but I don't remember their names off the top. The Tiramisu they have is not the classic very creamy one I love but it's just ok. I wouldn't recommend that so much, but their pizza is great!

Barrafina

St James's, City of London,Westminster, <20£
18/01/2017: If you are nearby... GO HERE! Everything from the welcome, service, food, wine, ambience and did I say food? Was fantastic! We ate 2 dishes at a time from recommendations from the staff and enjoyed every single one. Really authentic flavours served beautifully with enthusiasm and passion. The stand out dish was the baby gem lettuce... who knew salad could be so good! Thank you all for making his 40th a day to remember!
17/01/2017: We couldn't find the restaurant we were looking for and were wandering around and suddenly there was Barrafina! It looked so inviting. The food was amazing- for an hour or more I thought I was in Madrid or Barcelona. The tortilla was different from any we'd ever eaten-order it! We ordered the whole fish special of the night. Salads are unusual, yet amazing. The oysters were plump and perfectly dressed. Each dish is fresh and prepared right in front of you. The wine selection is well priced and a special is offered.

Roux at Parliament Square

5 offers
St James's, City of London,Westminster
18/01/2017: We visited her with another couple and opted for the tasting menu. The wait staff were accomodating of all dietary restrictions and explained each course on arrival. The service throughout the meal was excellent and couldn't be faulted. We thoroughly enjoyed all courses and found it to be one of the more balanced tasting menus we have had. I must recommend the gnuddi in particular which was substituted for us as we did not eat pork, and I am so glad because that dish alone would have made the visit worth it!Price wise it seemed on par with other fine dining in London, but the food and service was exceptional. Highly recommend.
18/01/2017: My wife and I recently visited the Roux at Parliament Square with friends whilst on a combined business and pleasure trip to London. We had pre-ordered the taster menu (we booked online and got a discount) and added the wine flight and cheese board with port. The atmosphere was quite relaxed and friendly, we dressed in fairly smart casual wear and sported a selection of tattoos and broad Lancashire accents but didn't feel out of place at any time. Tables are well spaced, the rooms are warm but not too hot, décor is stylish and elegant, and everywhere is spotless. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, our waiters introduced all of the food and wine served and were more than willing to answer our questions about how it was sourced and cooked. They managed the balancing act of doing this with authority and good humour without being condescending. The countless different sets of dishes and cutlery were all brought and taken away with a quiet efficiency which made the process almost unnoticeable. All of this created the perfect atmosphere for the wonderful food and wine, every morsel and drop of which was absolutely delicious. The range of tastes, textures and presentation was quite simply amazing, and experiencing these defies adequate description in words. We were not rushed and enjoyed every minute of the evening, rounded off by stepping out into a moonlit Parliament Square - the 'location, location, location' rule undoubtedly also applies to restaurants! It has to be said that this was an expensive evening (given our usual budget), certainly the most I have ever paid for a meal, however this is the sort of thing that we do as a treat once in a while, and in that context it was well worth every penny. If you are in the same boat and contemplating where to spend quite a lot of money in the hope of having a superb dining experience, and afterwards feel it was worth it, I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

Seven Park Place

St James's, City of London,Westminster, 60-100£
16/01/2017: My wife and I ate at Seven Park Place for her Birthday celebration and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel very special and the staff are attentive and knowledgeable. The food was superb (the snails to start was one of the best dishes I've ever tasted).
15/01/2017: Dining in London is often a bit of a compromise. High cost and good food can be let down by a dull setting (the Square) or hurried service (Marcus). No such concerns here. £85 for a flawless tasting menu seemed a bargain, even without service. Drinks are very expensive and a Kir Royale seemed over priced compared with house champagne. However, the sommelier was helpful and there are bottles around £50.Staff were charming and all in all we had a super evening.
