18/03/2017: Definitely best sushi in Manchester, higher end budget wise but you get what you pay for, hidden away under a bridge, it is a great intimate location too

McHalls Bistro

Claremont, Blackpool, <20£
06/03/2017: This is a little gem. Small and personal. Lovely surroundings and the food is great. Would make a special trip to Blackpool just to eat here. You have to book but it's well worth it.
02/03/2017: We stayed here for 2 nights and ate on the first night but unfortunately had something else booked for the second night or we would have certainly ate here again - the food was amazing as was the presentation...although there was a candle on the table I did feel a little more lighting would be good just so I could take in the full extent of the fabulous presentation. I had cheese pate to start which was amazing and my husband had another type of pate (can't remember which one) but he said that was equally as good then we both had lamb and believe you me, it was to die for, followed by (I can't remember the real name) but it was a lemon mousse with homemade shortcake, which was presented in a china tea cup and saucer topped with blueberries, again to die for! Daniel the host was fab and very attentive while his partner did all the hard work cooking behind the scenes. We stayed in a room which had everything you needed (not the biggest room in the world) but the cleanliness was absolutely amazing and as for the downstairs decor - this has to be seen to be believed as the pictures on the net really do not do this justice!I cannot recommend McHall's highly enough - keep up the good work boys and we hope to see you soon!

Steam Bistro

Coniston and Crake Valley, South Lakeland
11/03/2017: Warm, friendly staff. Excellent food and a very nice atmosphere. Birthday meal made very special with a table in the window and really lovely meal. All recommendations were spot on.
08/03/2017: Whenever my boyfriend and I visit a restaurant, my boyfriend is only given one or two options due to his intolerances to gluten and dairy, amongst a few others. However, this restaurant managed to find ways in which he could choose between at least half the menu! They even provided free dairy free spread and gluten free bread. The quality and speed of service was fantastic, and the price for a 3 course meal, in a set menu style, was just over £20, so well worth our money. We will definitely be returning if we visit the Lake District again!

The Chef's Table

Chester City, Cheshire West and Chester, <20£
18/03/2017: Met up with an old friend for lunch. This is a small restaurant which is welcoming and relaxing, boy the food is good. You can watch the food being cooked. The staff are very friendly. I had the Wild garlic and potato soup, wild garlic pakorka, soft poached eggs, brie focaccia you may think poached egg in soup but believe me it was delicious, for the main I had the Chicken. Could not fault it. My friend equally enjoyed her cod smoked loan and muscles etc.. You need to book your table, I was advised that we would have the table for 2 hours in the afternoon if that was OK. It was plenty of time but was so relaxed we could have stayed the all day if they would have let us.I traveled to Chester from near Liverpool drove to the Wrexham Road park and ride it only cost £2 for the day if you are using the park and ride. Buses run every 5 mins or so and drop you off behind the Grosvenor Shopping Precinct which is ideal. Only thing there is no loos at the park and ride, but there is one as you get off the bus.
18/03/2017: Enjoyed a fabulous lunch - this place is the most consistently good restaurant. The food is alway perfect and today's visit was no different. The staff are fantastic - there's not one negative point I could mention - just absolutely brilliant

Mi Casa Su Casa

Bispham, Blackpool, 20-30£
19/03/2017: Excellent food and service. A real find especially for Blackpool. Highly recommended. The restaurant is small so feels more intimate than most. A real taste of Spain.
14/03/2017: went for mid-week lunch. so fresh and delicious. various fish pieces and medditeranean vegetables and not a potato in sight - fabulous! Now it is open some evenings I will be going more regularly.

Dining with Distinction

East, Bury
19/03/2017: The opportunity to have an excellently prepared 5 course meal, with excellent wines, service that should not be missed. Add the atmosphere of a first class rail coach and a steam engine at the front. I was in heaven as was my wife and our friends. This was one of the best evenings I have ever spent and a definite one off dining experience. The Service was excellent and the staff could not do enough to make the journey very memorable. A well done to all involved with the East Lancs Railway. And a special thanks to the driver who drove as smoothly as was possible. They were so good I didn't even notice the coupling when the Loco ran round the train.
19/03/2017: This was a present from our children. My husband and I really enjoyed it. Something a bit different and we love a ride on a steam train. The train left bang on 7.30 so make sure you give yourselves plenty of time. The station bar is very popular and according to the hubby the drinks are very reasonable so that's a good excuse to arrive at the station early! All the staff were very friendly and the train driver seemed very happy to talk about the steam engine to the passengers at half time. The food was hot and the beef was very tender. We particularly enjoyed getting out of the train at Rawtenstall to stretch our legs and watch the engine move round. We also enjoyed sitting on the platform afterwards sipping a G and T. We will definately do this again. I quite fancy one of the murder mystery nights. The only negative for us was that we couldn't see out of the window due to the fact it was pitch black when we boarded. A summer dinner would be best if you like to look at the scenery going past.

The Art School

Princes Park, Liverpool, 60-100£
19/03/2017: Top restaurant food is of a high quality service is 10/10 one of the best restaurants in Liverpool been three times and food is the same quality every time
18/03/2017: Fantastic food and service, amazing place to eat, if you are in Liverpool and want fine dining this is the place to go!!! I have been many other places and this restaurant is in another league. Having had their 3 course menu for lunch, the menu excellence and the tasting menu before there is nothing I could fault.

Sticky Walnut

Hoole, Cheshire West and Chester, 60-100£
18/03/2017: The intimate setting makes the meal thoroughly enjoyable and allows you to appreciate the chefs creativity.
18/03/2017: A party of 8 people, all of us were were in total agreement, a memorable meal. The food , the service and the ambiance could not be faulted. Our congratulations to all concerned. I would recommend booking in advance, plan ahead to avoid disappointment!!!!!

Amigos Cafe & Bistro

Haydock, St. Helens
21/05/2017: Bit of a mismatch... Front of house, undoubtedly 5 stars.-The service was impeccable, very lovely genial host... faultless.-Nice environment, and very comfy chairs...-Music was fun, Euro influenced, a bIt different...-Drinks were fine...But...-The food... was just OK.Starters were tomato soup and the platter... both generous portions, but not as exciting as some reviews would indicate... The mains were the mixed grill platter and lamb kleftico. Both were again, very generous portions, but not quite as exciting as so many 5 stars suggested. If the flatbread had been homemade, or even toasted, not a cold bought in wrap... maybe that would have helped? It was OK, but not worth a special trip from out of the area... but it wouldn't take much to elevate to something really special... All the difficult elements are there, just a few tweaks to the food, and it could be really special. Couldn't help comparing to various meals, that were basically the same fare, but just a touch more exciting...?This is so close to being a true hidden gem, worth a special trip from out of town, it's just a shame that it was OK/good/nothing particularly wrong....
21/05/2017: My mum and I have been visiting Amigos Bistro for many months now. We have a beautiful Sunday lunch to die for.I haven't personally tried the breakfasts or the evening menu but many of my friends have recommended them. The staff are lovely, very attentive, make you feel very welcome.

Squires Gate, Blackpool
16/03/2017: This is our second visit to ambrosinis and yet again it's been an absolute pleasure to visit this restaurant. We have been on both a busy Saturday night and tonight was a quieter Thursday evening and both visits have had exemplary service, the staff a friendly and simply can't do enough for you - the food is beautiful and cooked fresh and the only fault is my appetite! it's a struggle eating both a starter and a main! We have traveled from teesside just to visit this restaurant tonight for the second time and it has been worth the journey - we will be back soon for sure!
14/03/2017: Lovely italian food lovingly prepared by the owner.Delicious. Love the personal touch and friendly staff.

The Old Stamp House Restaurant

Ambleside and Grasmere, South Lakeland, 45-60£
16/03/2017: I feel like words just won't do this place justice. I had the taster menu and it was worth every penny and probably more. The dishes were so well put together and the attention to detail was admirable. The portions were surprisingly big but easily finished as they tasted so damn good. Really recommend the scallops & potted shrimp. The waiters were also super attentive making this an all round spectacular experience!
15/03/2017: Decor feels sparse in a modern way and the restaurant is small, which I consider to be a positive. The welcome was warm and we were immediate served with a very tasty duck and barley broth. The choice of pre- dinner drinks was wide and varied, with an impressive array of gins to choose from. Our table chose the smaller of the two taster menus (the whole table must select either the small (5 courses) or large (8 courses) taster menu or the a la carte menu). Before the five courses came two complentary courses, both of which overflowed with flavour. The first course was potted shrimps in a curried cauliflower purée. The taste of each individual element came through - delicious. The smoked roe deer with various flavours mixed in was amazing but the Creme de la creme was the herdwick lamb which consisted of five (I think) different cuts - the lamb taste was unbelievable- one of the best courses I have ever had. One of our party, an experienced cook, stated that this was possibly the best dinner she had ever had. The menu flowed from savoury to sweet with fig and blue cheese on a cake and finished with a superb chocolate and hazelnut mousse with malted barley ice cream - tastes way better than it sounds.Service was polite, friendly but not overbearing. This restaurant is very highly recommended.

Madras authentic indian cuisine

Earby, Pendle, 20-30£
18/03/2017: Great environment, food was lovely, and the service was great, would highly recommend. Very nice Indian
13/03/2017: Been here quite a few times since the restaurant opened and every time the food has been exceptional. Very good service, even getting asked if we were ready for the main course or needed more time. Well worth a visit.

Cartmel and Grange West, South Lakeland, >100£
19/03/2017: Everything was beautifully presented and the tastes were exquisite. The speed of service was perfect, the explanations of each dish were helpful (although at times hard to hear the French accent over the noise of the diners). The rooms are nicely set out so you don't feel like you are in a sizeable restaurant. We didn't go for the additional cheese course, the tasting menu was quite enough in terms of quantity and quantity. The tasting menu took 4 hours!
18/03/2017: L'enclume richly deserves it place as the UK' s number one restaurant - I cannot understand why it doesn't have three stars....

Rattle Gill Cafe

Ambleside and Grasmere, South Lakeland
19/03/2017: We were delighted to find this gorgeous little cafe which serves a great selection of vegetarian food. We visited one day for coffee and cake and returned the next day for lunch. I particularly recommend the mixed berry and polenta cake, which is just one of several gluten free options. I also enjoyed the carrot satay soup and thought the little pot of cheese on the side was a lovely touch.
18/03/2017: Wonderful vegetarian food. Yummy black beans in wraps. Delicious gluten free cakes too. Off a little side street next to Stock Gill and the waterwheel.
