Cheetham, Manchester, >100£
19/02/2017: We came here for the tasting menus after hearing lots of good things about it. Between us we had the normal, the vegetarian and the vegan tasting menu. All of us were extremely impressed by the food! The meat-free dishes were amazing, especially the miso aubergine. It was probably the best Japanese meal i've had.The tasting menu isn't cheap, but worth it for how interesting, varied and tasty it was. Lots of delicious sake and Japanese Whiskies available too
16/02/2017: A modern restaurant located within one of the many a joining railway arches of Victoria train station. Only a small number of tables so it is advisable to telephone ahead of your visit,However we turned up on spec and was made very welcome by the friendly staff.Having never eaten here before we opted for the small platter of 16 Sushi pieces Along with bowls of very tasty Taiwanese rice. From the specials board we chose the "Kagoshima Wagyu Nigiri Fillet Nigiri".However did not realise until it arrived that it was 2 very small rice sushi with a topping of Wagyu at a cost of £14.00. Would have been helpful had the staff explained what was on special offer when we placed our order.Don't worry, I will be dinning out on this tale for many a year, have to get my monies worth one way or another! All in all, we had a wonderful evening and will be back but will consider giving the "Kagoshima Wagyu Nigiri Fillet Nigiri" amiss next time!

The Old Stamp House Restaurant

Ambleside and Grasmere, South Lakeland, 45-60£
25/02/2017: I booked this restaurant (after reading previous reviews) for my partners birthday as we were staying in Ambleside. The previous reviews did not let me down. We had a lovely table for two and the service was outstanding-relaxed but sophisticated. The food was quoted by my partner as "the best food he had ever tasted."It is a must do restaurant experience and if I am lucky enough to stay in Ambleside again I will be certainly booking here.
24/02/2017: Finally got round to having lunch at this restaurant and regret not coming sooner!!!We had the a la carter lunch menu and could not fault anything at all. We will definitely go again!

McHalls Bistro

Claremont, Blackpool, <20£
12/02/2017: Visited for sunday lunch as a treat. What can I say that I haven't already said? Danny is the perfect host and Gavin an excellent chef~between them they make McHalls what it is~a fab place to be.If you haven't been yet, whether it's for lunch or evening meal, why not? You have no idea what you're missing out on.As mentioned in a previous review, our allergies are no problem for Gav to deal with and we can eat whatever we want. And the ice-cream?? I don't tend to like ice-cream but Gavs is delish.Give McHalls a try, you won't be disappointed.
03/02/2017: OMG ... what can I say, found this Bistro through trip advisor and I am certainly not disappointed... from the minute we walked through the door Danny was fantastic and very attentive, he had everyone's first names memorised which was lovely and the food prepared by Gavin was simply amazing.... and very reasonably priced may I add.... will definitely be returning... keep up the good work Danny and Gavin xxxxHelen and David xx

Steam Bistro

Coniston and Crake Valley, South Lakeland
20/02/2017: Lovely relaxed evening spent in this small bistro, great menu with enough choice to enjoy, without being overwhelmed. Bring your own bottle only serves to add to the excellent value.
16/02/2017: This was our second visit to Steam Bistro and this time we brought the rest of the family. We had built the place up for everyone and it didn't disappoint. Superb Beetroot Cured Salmon and Mushroom Stuffed Chicken real highlights. Great value when you bring your own wine with attentive and personable service. You won't find better value anywhere else in the Lakes. Go before everyone else finds it!

Dining with Distinction

East, Bury
25/02/2017: Amazing evening . Lovely food and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this. Great being on a steam train really added to the evening.
14/02/2017: what a brill afternoon, 3 course meal was delicious and service second to none. Old steam train, a lot of the staff are volunteers. Catering by distinctive dining, a touch of luxury in the carriages, well definatley be booking a trip again and quite fancy the afternoon tea trip. Easy parking right at the station, only 1.00 for Sundays but dearer through the week so plan ahead, in centre Bury so lots alternative car parks nearby. My husband has a passion for steam trains so we got there early and went to the engine to take photos and were invited on to the engine by the crew who were brilliant, it made my husbands day. the station itself is lovely olde worlde and the bar and cafe on platform 2 was delightful. Thanks to John our steward who looked after us all so well and Michael. Apparently gets really busy so need to book in advance. Well worth every penny.

Mi Casa Su Casa

Bispham, Blackpool, 20-30£
25/02/2017: Called in late Monday afternoon and was recommended to try the lemon sole off the specials board. Served with some Mediteranean vegetables and a side order of potatoes bravas it was superb. The white wine was also of a very high standard. The staff were very friendly and gave excellent professional service. This place has to be a must for anyone visiting Blackpool who enjoy the finer things in life. We will most certainly call in the next time we are in the area.
06/02/2017: The food here was really good with many tapas dishes, fish and steak all served by staff who really looked after you. Will definitely go again.

The Chef's Table

Chester City, Cheshire West and Chester, <20£
23/02/2017: We visited the Chef's table for lunch today, it was the best meal we've had in a long time. The menu was varied with lots of delicious sounding options. The service is excellent and the food tasted amazing. This is the second time we've dined there and we look forward to visiting again soon.
20/02/2017: We were blown away by the service and food at this restaurant. When I rang to book, I said that we were vegan and they said it would be no problem and that the chef would make something up for us on the day. I felt a bit nervous about this, but I needn't of worried the food was fantastic and possibly one of the best vegan meals we've had at a restaurant. We were also very impressed at their understanding of a vegan diet, they knew to leave off bee pollen on our starter and called their suppliers to check for vegan wine. The staff were so friendly and attentive, we will definitely be back, thank you!

The Art School

Princes Park, Liverpool, 60-100£
23/02/2017: The Art School just don't know how to do anything wrong! Almost EVERY aspect of the dining experience is carefully managed and perfected. You can expect greatness from the menu, logistics and service as well as atmosphere – from the second you walk through the door, to when you leave. Wine list could be thicker, but that's my only observation. Fixed Menu offer (two courses) for £23 is an absolute bargain. It's steeper from there, but still great value for money. Many ingredients are locally sourced and identified as such in the menu. The staff and service is as good as it gets.
22/02/2017: We were 6 university friends out for lunch, the ambiance and the staff superb and the food memorable for its high quality.Could not fault our visit and would recommend to anyone. Lunch was very reasonable price, next will be a visit in the evening.

Squires Gate, Blackpool
20/02/2017: Very small but personal restaurant. Were looking for an Italian restaurant as requested by my daughter. Looked on TripAdvisor and this was the highest rated in Blackpool area. Had to wait a short time for our table to be made available but was kept informed, placed our order and had a drink while we waited.Food was fantastic, probably best pasta I've had. Wife and kids thoroughly enjoyed pizza. All in all a fantastic dining experience.Thank you.
19/02/2017: Just had a great night with family and friends. This is a small restaurant so you need to book, It is very popular. It offers a wide range of Italian cuisine. The dishes we had were all delicious. The service was friendly and attentive without being rushed. The chef came out of the kitchen to say hello, which was a nice touch, It was good value for money. It was well worth the 300 miles travelled. I would defo visit again if I am up in Blackpool.

Bar San Juan

Chorlton, Manchester, >100£
25/02/2017: Without a doubt the best tapas I've ever tasted. The restaurant is very cosy and you may have to wait a while for a table but it is definitely worth the wait!
24/02/2017: Good atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Food wonderful. Visited both evening and lunchtime. A truly Spanish experience.

Sticky Walnut

Hoole, Cheshire West and Chester, 60-100£
25/02/2017: Difficult to get a table on a weekend night so booked three weeks in advance. Menu is perfect unusual without being crazy. EEverytihing we had was cooked to perfection.Chateaubrien was excellent. Service was perfect attentive and friendly.Ow I know why it is difficult to get a table
25/02/2017: Fabulous food charmingly served in a very plain, no frills room. I guess the food more than makes up for the slightly tatty decor (we were seated next to the edge of a chimney breast which the plaster was falling away from due to the table knocking into it). Every course was delicious and the lunch menu outstanding value.

Cartmel and Grange West, South Lakeland, >100£
25/02/2017: We went for a delayed birthday lunch and picked the 8 course lunch and wine flight. The food was superb, the wine excellently matched and the service friendly but discrete. The staff chatted in a low key way and made you feel part of the family. We finished off with an additional course of cheese and vintage port. The whole lunch was topped off with a complimentary birthday pudding. We will save up for the 17 course tasting menu and try to stay over.
25/02/2017: We have just got back from lunch at l'Enclume and we loved it. As soon as you walk in you are welcomed by the staff who are warm and friendly yet professional. Loved the sealed menus... Not everything I had was my kind of flavour but all courses were beautifully prepared and presented. My favourite courses were the main of venison loin with croquette and beetroot... Amazing... And the dessert of Elderflower rhubarb and yoghurt which is one of the best dishes I have eaten... The restaurant itself is lovely, overlooking the river. Our Parisian waiter who was chatting to us was fantastic (I should have got his name but he has moved up recently from down south with his wife and two kids). The service and the staff will be my lasting memory of l'Enclume along with some beautiful food.

Rattle Gill Cafe

Ambleside and Grasmere, South Lakeland
23/02/2017: Whenever we are in Ambleside, we make a visit to Rattle Gill Cafe a priority. The coffee is the best we've found in the Lakes, the food fresh and homemade, cakes are fabulous and the staff are amazingly friendly. It's also dog friendly which is a win for us. The only problem is finding a seat as more and more people are discovering this hidden gem (cheesy but true!).
23/02/2017: We visited the cafe based on the reviews here. What a disappointment! We were served undercooked jacket potatoes (£13) , with disappointing fillings and a random mix of salad (noodles, potato salad and couscous)Oh and it's a vegetarian cafe which isn't made clear (my husband was very disappointed with his chick pea chilli)Service was good though, shame about the menu. We won't go back and don't recommend it.

Duke's, Sefton, >100£
22/02/2017: Excellent staff, lovely food and I would recommend the tasting menu. The atmosphere is good whether at lunchtime or in the evening. Well presented, fresh, quality food.
21/02/2017: Love this restaurant always a pleasure to be here. Staff are lovely especially charlotte she can't do enough for you. Food is amazing service is great. Well worth a visit and very reasonably priced.

Windermere Bowness South, South Lakeland, <20£
25/02/2017: This is chocolate but not as you know it. We had the hot chocolate with the dipping fruit, biscuit and cream. Intense Belguim hot chocolate. Take your time in the lovely surroundings. Lovely friendly staff. You have to go if you are in the area, daft if you don't.
24/02/2017: Visited today and could not fault the place staff were really friendly and welcoming, the hot chocolate was out of this world! Everything was pure perfection. Can't wait to go back and try some more!
