Cheetham, Manchester, >100£
18/01/2017: What a hidden little gem this is. It's a very small restaurant so would recommend booking. The food was amazing, great staff that were happy to help with our questions. Will definitely come again.
15/01/2017: It is difficult to get into this place because it only has a few tables so you always have to book (on line, they don't take telephone reservations!) - but it is well worth it! The food is sublime and the staff are helpful and friendly. I can't praise this place too highly - we had the taster menu and it was amazing. If you love Japanese food you need to visit, it's the best in Manchester.

The Old Stamp House Restaurant

Ambleside and Grasmere, South Lakeland, 45-60£
15/01/2017: Our visit to the Old Stamp House was for a special occasion and the food, staff and overall experience, exceeded expectation (we had read the trip advisor reviews prior and so our expectations were, as a result, excitedly high). The seasonal and Cumbrian-inspired emphasis of the evening tasting menu was a real treat. We especially liked the three way Hogget plate, rhubarb dessert plate and the cheese course.Craig was a superb host and all staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant has a cozy vibe, probably in part thanks to it being cellar-level, and we found the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. It was a pleasure to dine here, and we hope to return.
14/01/2017: As usual my favourite place to eat! Highly recommended, great staff that can't do enough for you with fantastic attitudes towards their job and a lovely feel. I shall be telling my friends to visit and will consider having my anniversary meal here with my husband next month!

McHalls Bistro

Claremont, Blackpool, <20£
16/01/2017: I visited this place for the first time ,I checked it up on TripAdvisor, the food and the service was amazing, you must try it for yourself you won't be disappointed, I will definitely be back.
15/01/2017: We booked in at McHalls because of the reviews on Tripadvisor. Having spent a freezing day exploring Blackpool we literally blew into McHalls chilled to the bone and very windswept. The area that the restaurant is in didn't look great, just around the corner from the Flying Handbag pub (love that name)! However rang the door bell and when the door was opened we were greeted by a our warm and friendly host. We were shown into the dining room and immediately felt that we didn't want to be anywhere else. The restaurant was warm and intimate with really interesting memorabilia from shows that had ben put on in the local theatre. The menu was varied with daily specials, everyone in our party of 4 was well catered for. The wine list was good with something to suit all budgets and tastes. When the food came out we were not disappointed, hot, fresh, tasty - delicious! Throughout the meal our host laughed and joked and made sure we had everything we wanted. At the end of the evening the thought of leaving this warm oasis was horrible but unfortunately we had to! I would most definitely return!

Steam Bistro

Coniston and Crake Valley, South Lakeland
18/01/2017: 6 of us booked and arrived a bit early, we were sat at our table abut asked to wait for a short while as another table was due in before us which was no problem, but when they didn't arrive on time, they quickly came and said they would serve us first, very helpful friendly staff, lovely food, great atmosphere, we will be booking again on our next trip to Coniston. Bonus to bring your own drinks.
17/01/2017: Visiting Coniston in November , we saw a review for Steam and Managed to get a table on a Sunday evening. This restaurant in the middle of the village is easy to find and we received a warm welcome. The food is all freshly prepared from seasonal produce and it was a shame one of their signature dishes was missing from the menu the night we visited. that said there was a good choice for all palettes. The food was tasty and of good quality and I will be booking again next time I'm in the lake district.

Mi Casa Su Casa

Dining with Distinction

East, Bury
07/01/2017: Visited this on 22nd December. Lovely meal and very attentive staff. The steam train is romantic and makes the occasion special. The ride back went too quickly but overall we loved it and would recommend.
05/01/2017: Went on the train for the festive lunch in December. The food was superb and service was excellent. Highly recommend this place to anyone. Something different than going to the usual restaurant. Looking forward to the murder mystery evening soon!

The Chef's Table

Chester City, Cheshire West and Chester, <20£
17/01/2017: Three generations of us went between Christmas and New Year. All will return.Interesting cocktails with obvious knowledge and expertise. Service friendly and attentive. Food very good although I would have liked it to be less tilted towards Christmas with two of the mains on a limited menu. The sole en papillote was superb, as was the venison. The faux foie gras of mushrooms as a starter got more of a mixed reaction. The aperitif olives were superb, the crackling far too crunchy and would not recommend. Booking recommended - and well in advance if there is a special date.
16/01/2017: What a fantastic place to eat. You get to see the chef's in action, we attended restaurant for a private function, a friends 50th birthday. The staff greeted us at the door to take our coats and we were taken to the bar for drinks. We had a taster menu of i think it was 7 courses and they were superb. Will definitely be coming again and telling friends. Thanks to all the staff who were very attentive but not too much :)

Bar San Juan

Chorlton, Manchester, >100£
18/01/2017: Visited twice. First time went for lunch with my friend and was amazed! Loved the food and the atmosphere. Everything was yummy and fresh. Second time visited with my husband. It was dinner time and got I bit disappointed- they served what was left from the day..It was still delicious but not really fresh
18/01/2017: Genuinely Spanish tapas bar with friendly staff and a buzzing atmosphere. recommend this to anyone looking for informal Spanish tapas bar

Squires Gate, Blackpool
17/01/2017: First time we have been here, the food was excellent the staff were friendly and very helpful will be using it again and again.
06/01/2017: We took the whole family to Ambrosini's on 29 December for a birthday celebration. We had an excellent meal, with friendly, attentive service from staff. The food was cooked to perfection, with generous portions. I would highly recommend the restaurant. If you want to go there you will need to book in advance.

The Art School

Princes Park, Liverpool, 60-100£
18/01/2017: Family visit for my daughter's 18th. Nothing too much trouble even given a few quirky requests beforehand, all of which were observed with minimum fuss. Setting superb and the staff unobtrusive yet seemingly everywhere at the same time. The food was absolutely fantastic - the younger teenager was drooling over the sweetcorn, an achievement in itself! In my mind there is no better place in Liverpool for a "special occasion" meal.
18/01/2017: The best restaurant in Liverpool for haute cuisine using locally supplied produce. From the moment you are greeted at the door to the time you leave the staff make you feel special and wanted. We have been several times and have always had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Early doors set menu is excellent value and the wine waiters will always make great wine recommendations for the meal.

Windermere Bowness South, South Lakeland, <20£
17/01/2017: We visited here & are so pleased we did. The hot chocolate is out of this world & the little extras on the side are a fab touch. For first timers I would highly recommend taking up the offer of a little sample of chocolate to see how rich it is. We also had paninis which were fresh , full & very tasty. A return visit is on the cards to sample the delicious looking waffles.
14/01/2017: We visited a little while ago just for a drink as we had been walking around and it was a welcome break. We only had a tea which was nice, you can't really go too wrong with tea I suppose but the atmosphere was nice enough and it seemed very popular. We looked at the menu and it did seem quite expensive for the range of hot chocolates, but if you are into that sort of drink they did have a good variety to choose from. We did try and return a couple of weeks ago but it was too full, which shows how popular it is. Will try again sometime in the future.

Cartmel and Grange West, South Lakeland, >100£
17/01/2017: Had a wonderful time in Cartmel, staying at L'Enclume for two days over Christmas. We ate at L'Enclume on the first night but didn't manage the cheese course and then enjoyed a visit to the farm and then a meal at Aulis, fed and entertained by Rory.
17/01/2017: From the moment you step into the restaurant you realise they have it just right from the atmosphere to the food and the service of course. The atmosphere is relaxing and not at all stuffy, as I think we may have expected given the reviews and accolades the restaurant has. Service is really professional as you would expect and you are given an explanation for each course which was helpful. We did find as our anticipation grew for each course there was perhaps a little too much detail at times or perhaps us just to eager. The food was outstanding both in flavour combinations, creativity and of course presentation with a number. A number of stand out dishes throughout, too many to mention, although I am a desserts type of girl at heart and these were probably my least favourites in the tasting menu.We could not believe that we had been in the restaurant over 4 hours and at no point did we feel it had dragged. Whilst it is one of the most expensive meals we have ever had it was an amazing experience and one we would repeat in a heartbeat.

Sticky Walnut

Hoole, Cheshire West and Chester, 60-100£
17/01/2017: We went for a friends birthday, our first time to sticky walnut and had a fab night, the food and the atmosphere were great, we all had the chateaubriand and it was cooked perfect. Staff were all very helpful and friendly, will definitely be going again.
17/01/2017: Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to this restaurant, fabulous food, different choices that were impressive but not over-priced, great atmosphere and wonderful service, hospitable but unobtrusive, just like it should be.really enjoyed spending time here with my lovely wife, 23 year old daughter celebrating her birthday (lovely touch that she was offered a pudding with 'Happy Birthday' on it) and her boyfriend.

Duke's, Sefton, >100£
19/01/2017: I visited Bistro 21 today after many months since my last visit. The food, service, menu choices, staff and ambiance were every bit as good as I remembered it.The vegetarian menu is varied and has some interesting main courses. I had parsnip and apple soup to start, followed by cauliflower and pickled beetroot gratin with penko crumb for a main dish. I would never have thought that the combinations of both the soup and the cauliflower and pickled would have worked, however it did - beautifully. My sister chose the parfait to start followed by steak and mushroom pie, chips and seasonal vegetables. She was also delighted with her choice. The portion sizes are generous and therefore value for money. The restaurant manageress is extremely experienced and perfect for this restaurant. The waitress was equally well suited to her position and was friendly and welcoming.Overall a superb lunch experience. Thank you to all at Bistro21.
18/01/2017: I am a little late writing this review because we visited here a couple of days before Christmas, everything about the place was faultless, the atmosphere, food and staff were fantastic. We were a party of six adults, a few of us chose the Tasting Menu which we all agreed was a great idea, we weren't going to have a dessert because we were all stuffed, but the waitress suggested trying the dessert tray where they present you with a selection of four desserts, so we ordered two of these and asked for spoons for everyone, it was lovely and a real treat to be able to try the different desserts, there was certainly plenty for the six of us to tuck into. Definitely going back, it was a fantastic night out.
