Blu Restaurant

Falls, Belfast, 20-30£
18/01/2017: Very easy to walk by this restaurant as on the outside it looks little more than a coffee shop but it's certainly much more than that. I had visited once before in Nov'16 and was impressed. So when I was asked to recommend somewhere in Belfast for the family to have lunch with visiting young family members from Australia I thought this little gem would be perfect. We certainly weren't let down, the menu is not massive but everyone present really enjoyed the excellent food and quality of all the starters, main courses and desserts on offer. Excellent value for money, wine prices very fair and other drinks on special offer are also available Everything was very well presented and served by excellent and friendly staff. This is a place to visit for anyone but would especially recommend it to people who are visiting Belfast on a City Break who are looking for good food at reasonable prices and served by good friendly staff.
31/12/2016: Was in town and called in for coffee and scones. Lovely atmosphere. Scones arrived on a glass stand with 3little dishes. One jam, one cream and one butter. Coffe served in a glass cup with jug of milk and dish of sugar cubes. Really lovely presentation and delicious. The price for this was £2.50 per person. Will be back. This time for a meal the food being served smelt and looked great.Lovely to find this restaurant by accident

17/01/2017: This restaurant is FANTASTIC!!! The food is absolutely incredible, we tried so many items and each one was better than the last. In addition to the food the wait staff has to be the most friendly, genuinely kind and helpful people I have ever met. We plan to go back for dinner again tomorrow!

James Street South

1 offer
Shaftesbury, Belfast
18/01/2017: Smart minimalist type. Very friendly staff and excellent quality food. Attended a private party of 20 plus, but that didn't phase them at all. Food arrived pretty much all together and was excellently presented.Only been the once but hope to change that, certainly worth going to and if I lived in Belfast it would probably be my go to place. Liked the friendly simple style with top quality tasting food.
16/01/2017: Nice menu and good wine selectionThe experience was slightly disappointing due to inexperienced service, too many interruptions which made this business dinner less productive.Would still recommend it for a more casual dinner

Holohan's

Shaftesbury, Belfast, 20-30£
17/01/2017: My husband and I went for an impromptu night out and as usual found it hard to get booked anywhere but got a late table at the barge. The menu is brief but interesting and we were delighted with the food. There was a large table of French visitors beside us and I couldn't help but feel a little proud that irish food can be so impressive. A wonderful restaurant.
17/01/2017: We visited before the holidays for a private party with family and friends. Fabulous food from start to finish. Quaint and original, the meal and service was first class. Highly recommended!

18/01/2017: Had the special which was plaice it was really excellent and the petit fours also excellent. This restaurant is highly recommended. Good service.
14/01/2017: We visited graze this weekend for an early evening meal. The restaurant was quite quiet as we were there from 6-7:30.My wife had the goats cheese to start followed by the seabass main. She thought both were excellent! I had the scallops to start and monkfish as a main, again these were both lovely. We both had the chocolate fondant for desert which was very tasty. 2x 3 courses meals for £55 which is very reasonable for the quality of food and excellent service.

The Bar at The Merchant Hotel

Duncairn, Belfast
17/01/2017: Choice, choice, choice is all I can say about the cocktail menu, it was so difficult to decide and the photographs are exactly what your drink will look like. Our two kids loved the fruit cups, made them feel so special. We are a range from the menu and everything was fantastic, delicious soups, salads and fish dishes. The whole dining experience is Devine, relaxing and quite special due to the atmosphere and the service. A little luxury mid week
06/01/2017: Obviously expensive as it's in the hotel but good cocktails and comfy settees etc. The room is a bit dark for me but heh, I'm old. The girls enjoyed it, I'm an old man's bar kinda guy.

Howard Street

1 offer
Shaftesbury, Belfast
17/01/2017: The service was excellent and the restaurant has a nice ambience. The food was and reasonable value for money
16/01/2017: I booked Howard St on the basis of the great TA reviews and I wasn't disappointed. The restaurant is very welcoming and on first sitting down I enjoyed looking around taking in the great decor. The menu is small but everything on the menu appealed to me! I would definitely recommend the salt and chilli beef it was soooo tasty, you can get it as a starter or main, I was glad I got it as a starter as there was enough in that. Both starters and mains were really tasty, good portion size and good value for what we got. The service was friendly, prompt and attentive. I will definitely visit again when I'm back in Belfast.
