Mayur Indian Restaurant

Killycrot, Carrickfergus
14/02/2018: What a gem! I heard very good things about this restaurant from several people so was delighted to visit when my husband flew over to stay with me for a few days whilst I was working in Northern Ireland. We hadn’t booked, and it was clearly a busy night being half-term. But the service was exceptional. We were greeted, seated and our drinks order were taken away. Poppadums arrived with a lovely selection of chutneys. We had a lamb balti, mushroom rice, keema naan, and chicken tikka masala. Everything was exquisite and perfectly cooked. The food was plentiful, well presented, perfect temperature, and we were well looked after without being hovered-over. It was such a delightful surprise to find such a fantastic meal in an unexpected place. This may be my favourite curry house ever!
13/02/2018: We had a top class service to get us on time for our movie. Nothing was too much for Arif and his team. Would recommend here for a lovely Indian and drinks.

Billy Andy's

Glynn, Larne
17/02/2018: We called on the off-chance on a Friday evening and were given a table by the door. The place was fully booked as we were leaving so I guess this was the only table left. Every time the door opens there’s a cold draught around your feet, it would be fine in nice weather but best avoided during cold spells.
11/02/2018: Visited here with family and a guest who had never been to N. Ireland before. The food was fine but never have I come across as rude and arrogant a maitre d'/manager. Needless to say we will not be back.

Kiwi's Brew Bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
21/02/2018: Nipped in for a quick half and stayed much longer than planned. The range of craft beers, whiskies, and Gin would keep you for hours. Wifey and I settled down with a bottle of local beer, and a gin, in the shiniest glasses Ive seen for a while.
20/02/2018: My other half and I went down to the Port for a night's stay, went into Kiwis to watch the footie. Excellent wee bar, nicely lit, not too bright, lovely friendly atmosphere, very relaxed. Food was excellent, we shared a platter of olives and mixed meats, really tasty. Can't fault this wee bar, excellent staff too. Maggie's Leap on draft which was beautiful. If you are looking for a down to earth non stuffy atmosphere in the Port, this is the place to go. Oh and live music that night too! What more do you want?

The French Rooms

Bushmills, Moyle, 20-30£
24/12/2017: We eat here quite often but this time it was a special Christmas treat. As always the food is excellent with super friendly service from Stuart and Emily. Booking is normally essential as it does get full up especially at weekends.
13/12/2017: Took a client for lunch, simple food good portions, charming waiters. Simple but delicious French food in a surprising place.

Brown's Coffee Co.

Ballyclare South, Newtownabbey
19/02/2018: What a lovely quaint, relaxing little coffee shop! Perfect for lunch or coffee and a book. Chilled atmosphere and very pleasant and helpful staff! Best coffee about too!! Definitely best coffee shop in Ballyclare!
05/02/2018: Cracking little coffee shop and only 20 mins walk from the house. All types of coffee, teas and sweet bites. Comfortable seating, better pricing than the "big names" and of course friendly staff. The best part.... Browns is open until 6pm on a Sunday!

Tartine Restaurant at The Distillers Arms

Bushmills, Moyle, 30-45£
21/02/2018: Two steaks on the early bird menu. Good, lean meat and nicely cooked. A most enjoyable meal.
21/02/2018: From the outside this restaurant is very deceiving but once you step inside you are welcomed by an open fire and lovely decor. I enjoyed the local produce they served and I would love to go again soon.

Harbour bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
18/02/2018: Another great meal in the harbour bistro
15/02/2018: This place is the go-to spot in Portrush. Great little bar that also serves as the focal point of 6 restaurants! Great Guinness. Great choice of restaurants. Just ask for Willy Gregg. He'll look after you. Highly recommended. :-)

Glenaan, Moyle
19/02/2018: We were advised by our B&B; to try Harry’s- my regret is that I had not discovered Harry’s on previous visits. The welcome and hospitality were warm and just what you might expect from the people of the Glens .There was a good variety of food and drink available, and the service was just right - neither too rushed nor too slow. A very relaxed and convivial atmosphere ensured a perfect evening . We dined there each night of our stay.
17/02/2018: We were in a working trip around this beautiful town. We were very lucky that we found this place for lunch and dinner.

ocho tapas bistro

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
15/02/2018: Valentines night at Ocho was business as usual. The set menu was full of pure delights, both visually and (obviously with it being “Ocho”) in taste and flavours, some of which were obvious like the “Pan seared lamb with Morello cherry Jus” to the not so obvious ( to me at least ) “Smoked black pudding, quails egg & smoked paprika, served on a toasted sourdough bread.
11/02/2018: Had a great meal here recently with some beef tacos and chips with a Japanese twist.

Cafe Revive

Glenaan, Moyle, <20£
18/02/2018: Full of charm and character Cafe Revive is the standard that every tea room and coffee shop should aspire. This is at least if you prefer to avoid the carbon copies of starbucks and the like. I hope I don't live long enough to see the disappearance of places like Cafe Review. It is run by dedicated owners offering home baking and personable service. I was very lucky to find this place . My recommendation is to try the bread toasted. Very nice!
30/01/2018: Very nice little café, home made cakes, good coffee. Lovely homely place, very friendly atmosphere, great place to visit. Recommended

Ardtara Country House Hotel Restaurant

Upperlands, Magherafelt
06/02/2018: Visited Ardtara Country house for the first time in December for the Victorian Christmas evening. Lovely rooms and having the gas fire in the bedroom was so cosy on a cold winters night. The food was delicious and listening to the choir and all the music while we ate made everything feel very festive.
06/01/2018: Just home from a really special night away in ardtara! Service fantastic, Tim and Valerie looked after us so well. Dinner top class. Nothing much to do in the area, this is a little hidden quiet spot perfect for relaxing, reading a book by the fire, eating good food and enjoying a nice drink!

Barnish Cafe

Glenshesk, Moyle
22/11/2017: We happened to come upon this lovely cafe while exploring Ireland’s Northern coastline. The owner, Christine, took the time to recommend and write down the “must see” places to visit while in the area. She is a lovely as the food she creates. I couldn’t recommend enough!
13/09/2017: Went for a lunch and arrived too early for the daily special so we picked the breakfast and a wrap. All food is freshly cooked and the staff are excellent; friendly and welcoming. The food was lovely. Don't be put off by the decor, the limited menu and the strange location; well worth a visit. It might look like a disused petrol forecourt, but do go in!

Eden Coffee Shop

Hightown, Newtownabbey
20/11/2017: Love this place for a cheap and tasty fry! Always very friendly staff and great service at a fantastic price. Well worth a visit
27/09/2017: Eden is a small and friendly little coffee shop on the Ballyclare Rd Glengormley serving a good selection of food. Compact clean and the only complaint I could have is that the portions are too big. Always a good spot to take a break from shopping or a quick business lunch but finding a seat can be difficult because of its popularity. A great little coffee shop and always a pleasure to have coffee here.

Galgorm, Ballymena
14/02/2018: First time at Fratelli. Easy access from the hotel. Five steps or a ramp. The restaurant was very busy but that did not stop the staff giving a warm friendly welcome. Service was has good as the food. We all went for pizza One was gluten free. At this restaurant offers are plenty. We went on a Monday and got two for one offer. Will definitely be back next time I’m in the area.
13/02/2018: We visited Fratelli in Ballymena on Monday night. The Monday special night is when you buy one main course and get the second free. Sounds good. We ordered 4 starters for £15 the portion sizes were very small, we shared these, but really only got 1 spoonful each. They tasted ok nothing special. The main dish l ordered was not good. It was braised beef with mushrooms and ribbon pasta. Unfortunately it came in a bisto like gravy but with less taste. Even after adding pepper and parmesan it didn't not improve the flavour of the meal. The fourth meal we ordered was a pizza which came out 10 minutes after everyone else's meal had been served. We tried not to start our meals until it arrived but were afraid they would get cold so reluctantly 3 started and 1 didn't. We ordered wine 1 bottle was £22. One glass £7.50.The desserts were £3 each but very very small about the size of a small yogurt pot. The bill was over £100 and that was with the free meals deducted from from the bill. The staff were friendly and apologetic when I told them we hadn't received our 4th meal. Although the venue is very picturesque the room was quite chilly possibly due the extension they have added to the back. Overall the meal was disappointing but the company was good. Wouldn't Recommend Fratelli to visitors wanting tasty food or value for money. There are many restaurants in Ballymena offering better food and drink at a sensible price. Fratelli if you wish to reply, please do not post a generic reply like your other reviews. Thank you.

Halfway House Hotel

Glenarm, Larne
30/01/2018: Great service beautiful food very reasonably priced .A lovely place to stop on way up the coast very accessible for disabled great car park
29/01/2018: Stopped here today for lunch and was served by two young men who could work anywhere in the restaurant and hotel industry. The service was excellent, the food was excellent and it was reasonably priced. I would definitely go back.
