Billy Andy's

Glynn, Larne
19/02/2017: My husband and I first went to billy andy's for lunch in July 2016(previous review written) and we vowed we would return - which we did for their Friday night steak night. We also chose to stay the night as well. The food here is simply the best around and we have eaten far lesser meals in some high end restaurants in London. Steak night on a Friday represents great value - all steak mains are £22.95 and include your choice of free starter- I opted for their wild game picnic and my husband had the soup of the day which was onion. For main I had braised rib of beef and a sirloin - he rib literally fell off the bone and was melt in the mouth. The garlic mash complemented the dish perfectly. My husband enjoyed the fillet steak main that was served with beef shin in blankets - all food was superb; I particularly enjoyed the wild game picnic with rabbit sausage roll.In terms of the the overnight stay - we had a lovely and spacious double room that was well appointed and had a great shower. Breakfast the next morning was fresh cooked to order and was all you could want. Staff are very welcoming and friendly- the restaurant does get busy and we did wait 30mins for our order to be taken, but were served complimentary breads whilst we waited. This place is a an absolute gem and we will certainly be back- perhaps next time for Sunday lunch
18/02/2017: just dont want to fill ure face but would like a lovely meal in great surroundings this is the place michellan type meals well prepared and served at great prices this is the place to go

ocho tapas bistro

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
19/03/2017: Been to Ocho Tapas a few times now and never disappoints. Food is superb and staff friendly and helpful, so if you are a Tapas Novice, this is the place to go as the staff will guide and assist you with your choices. Can't wait to our next visit.
17/03/2017: My partner and I walked in last Saturday night and got a table straight away THEN realised how lucky we were! The staff were lovely and got the attention balance just right - enough time to ourselves not to feel rushed but they were clearly watching the floor for who was ready for the next thing. The four dishes we had were all great for colour, texture and taste but the whole menu used a variety of culinary techniques in creative ways. Impressive! We had the little green peppers, filo-wrapped goat's cheese with fig, chutney and apple salad, goat's cheese croquettes with beetroot pannacotta and a special - rabbit pie. We had two glasses of the house Chilean Merlot and it really was all very delicious! The good reviews are well-deserved! Thanks for a lovely evening!

Harbour bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
16/03/2017: We were told this was the place to drink Guinness and we weren't disappointed. A long leisurely session at the front bar with a fantastic batman and locals that kept us entertained. Ask for a "dark and stormy" and be delighted
13/03/2017: Ok, I'm embarrassed to say I've frequented plenty of bars, in plenty of towns, for plenty of reasons. However the one that has my heart eternally is the Harbour bar. I'm a Belfast man so there is no location bias involved. The bar itself is a stunning untouched Irish wonder. Full of little things to look at and you'll find new things each visit. Get a seat in the snug and prepare to lose many hours wistfully looking round you, soaking up the craic and enjoying the sights sounds and smells. The main man Willy is an attraction in himself. A man drenched in character, fond of dogs, outstanding with kids (permitted during the day and early evening) but an absolute master of Guinness. ...and if you like Guinness you will find your ethereal final resting place. Oh the Guinness. It seems silkier when poured in this tiny bar. Darker, creamier, more dense. It is in fact so perfect that Guinness should rebottle it here and sell it as a rare export. Do yourself a favour, grab a friend,Partner, relative, your wee ones, a dog, feck it - a cat if needs be (or go solo as you won't be alone for long) and get to this bar. I guarantee you that you will make memories that will stay with you for a long time, but not before your heart drags you back for one more drink. A piece of my heart will always be at the harbour bar.

Sleepy Hollow Restaurant

Mallusk, Newtownabbey
14/03/2017: We were given a voucher for sleepy hollow and decided to go last Sunday. It was easy to find. We were taken to our table after a short wait as we were early. The menu has a good choice of dishes and is well priced. The service was friendly and professional. The food was well cooked and and nicely presented. It was quite busy but we were attended to without any delay. It was a most enjoyable day.
07/03/2017: This is a good restaurant but on the two recent visits it's been quite cold. We mentioned it to the staff but to no avail. Definitely wouldn't go back in the winter months. It's a pity as their food was good.

District 45

Glebe, Magherafelt
13/03/2017: Visited alone yesterday for the first time, the food was fantastic, fresh and exceeded my expectations. The service however blew me away, so attentive and even though I was the only person dinning alone I was made to feel extremely comfortable and so well looked after. I will definitely be returning with my family very soon.

Roark's Kitchen

Kinbane, Moyle
19/03/2017: After a brisk walk we were cold & ready for lunch but the place looked closed. Walking past we noticed that the door was flapping so we stuck our heads in, "open in 10 mins" came back as music to our ears. We both had the stew, wheaten & tea meal dealc& oh boy it was good. Big chunks of beef, fresh veg & spuds...proper stew and a good bowlful of it too! Despite being stuffed I couldn't resist a big slice of carrot cake on the pretence of sharing it (no hope!). Light, fluffy...delish! We also had our Medical Alert Dog and he was welcomed & we were seated where his rather long tail wouldn't get trod on accidently. The cafe is very small & a bit squashed in but well worth a visit for some honest to good home cooking!
13/03/2017: Cannot fault this place: friendly staff, great choice of Home-baked cakes and substantial traditional hot meals served in a quaint tearoom setting at a stunning location. A must if you are in the area visiting Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge or White Park Bay. 5 stars!!!

Mermaid Kitchen and Bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
19/03/2017: Nothing beats splitting the meat boat with a friend overlooking the harbour.Large variety of menu items. No children allowed! Brilliant
16/03/2017: Have to say, the hardest choice I've had to make for a long time choosing my meal. Everything on the menu looked so appetising and the mid week menu @£12.95 for 2 courses and £15.95 for 3 courses in such good value. The only solution is to go back again and again! It's a hard life?

We shared Indian starters and I have tried a chicken korma, all very tasty!Très bon restaurant indien. Atmosphère et service agréables. Les plats sont très bons (chicken korma pour ma part). The French Rooms

Bushmills, Moyle, 20-30£
18/03/2017: We went here a breakfast on a Sunday morning on our weekend holiday. The food nice. Just not great. The selection on the for breakfast was just ok, for me there was not a lot to choose from
18/03/2017: We visited with friends on a Saturday evening. The place is different in that you have to go through the shop front to access the restaurant which made it quite interesting and exciting. The ambiance of the place suits it very well done out with lots of French styled items. The food was very good along with the service. Overall definitely worth a visit.

Tartine Restaurant at The Distillers Arms

Bushmills, Moyle, 30-45£
19/03/2017: At Tartine for my 60th birthday today. Disappointed that it was a carvery as didn't tell me this on website. Main course not very warm and duo of lemon desserts terrible. Lemon Posset was not set and the lemon torte was not very lemony. Have been in the evening before and was always very good but after today I won't be returning in a hurry
18/03/2017: We booked several weeks in advance which, on the Friday night we were there, proved a good move. Do not judge 'the book' from its cover as from the outside it doesn't look anything special but as soon as you walk in you see that it is a beautiful restaurant. The service and food were excellent - it was the best meal of our 3 day trip. I would definitely go back to try something else on the menu if I was in the area.
