24/02/2017: An absolutely fantastic meal from starters to desserts. The chicken was succulent and the sauces delicious. My naan bread was cooked to perfection and rice really flavoursome. The service was so friendly and welcoming, I wish I could lift this restaurant up and take it back to Yorkshire with me! I will return next time I'm here.

Billy Andy's

Glynn, Larne
19/02/2017: My husband and I first went to billy andy's for lunch in July 2016(previous review written) and we vowed we would return - which we did for their Friday night steak night. We also chose to stay the night as well. The food here is simply the best around and we have eaten far lesser meals in some high end restaurants in London. Steak night on a Friday represents great value - all steak mains are £22.95 and include your choice of free starter- I opted for their wild game picnic and my husband had the soup of the day which was onion. For main I had braised rib of beef and a sirloin - he rib literally fell off the bone and was melt in the mouth. The garlic mash complemented the dish perfectly. My husband enjoyed the fillet steak main that was served with beef shin in blankets - all food was superb; I particularly enjoyed the wild game picnic with rabbit sausage roll.In terms of the the overnight stay - we had a lovely and spacious double room that was well appointed and had a great shower. Breakfast the next morning was fresh cooked to order and was all you could want. Staff are very welcoming and friendly- the restaurant does get busy and we did wait 30mins for our order to be taken, but were served complimentary breads whilst we waited. This place is a an absolute gem and we will certainly be back- perhaps next time for Sunday lunch
18/02/2017: just dont want to fill ure face but would like a lovely meal in great surroundings this is the place michellan type meals well prepared and served at great prices this is the place to go

We were made to feel so welcome from the moment we walked in, and the food was amazing! We shared a few of the tapas dishes between us, they were all fantastic! We'll definitely be back!

Harbour bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
20/02/2017: We visited this pub .. unexpectedly... as we walked past it on the way to a restaurant.A barman came running out to greet us in the street. For a moment it was unnerving...He wanted us to go in the bar for a drink saying he hadn't met us before etcMy first thoughts were "He is just recruiting business for the pub..."Except, looking in the window, it was jam packed, and it was hard to imagine how we could physically even get in there!"So my theory was obviously wrong. He did NOT need business, that was for sure.. I explained we were on the way to a restaurant near his pub, but that would stop by on the way back.He asked which restaurant we were going to; and if we had been there before? to which I replied " no."He said he knew exactly where it was, and said "I will walk you there and show you."I was still somewhat skeptical of this guy.Again I was wrong! After we had enjoyed a fabulous dinner, which I will post a separate review for, we walked back towards the car past the pub.The same guy saw us through the window, and came running out reminding us, I said we would go in for a drink on the way back.By now we felt "Well he's been so friendly, so why not."WOW : we don't go to pubs that often ( preferring restaurants.)But if this pub was in my home town, I would be there every night. This guy, Willie Gregg, is a true LIVING LEGEND.He was genuinely, in every way, without doubt THE most charismatic, warm hearted, entertainingly fun guy, I have probably ever met. It was clear everybody in the pub loved him: and his enthusiasm and charming approach to every soul in the place, was something I had never seen before. This man truly IS a living legend and if anyone reading this ever gets the chance to visit the Harbour Bar in Port Rush, you will love every moment of it.The following day, I made some enquiries with the locals about this impressive man.I was to learn that all the locals loved him.He worked tirelessly for various charities, and he had a heart of gold.We were very lucky to visit this great pub, and meet Willie Gregg, and I will go again if I ever get the chance without fail!!Thankyou Willie for making our trip so memorable...
16/02/2017: Hadn't ventured into to the harbour bar in years.... it was well worth the visit. The staff, service and food were excellent. Will definitely not be as long a time between our next visits.

Sleepy Hollow Restaurant

Mallusk, Newtownabbey
22/02/2017: If I were to list my top ten meals then this would certainly be among them. Ham/Leek soup and breads followed by the Rib of Beef - ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!!!! The meat literally fell apart with your fork and the garlic mash was perfect (no over-flavouring). Sticky Toffee Pudding to finish and all accompanied by a very nice white wine which wasn't over priced. Value for the meal was extremely good as is the atmosphere of the restaurant itself and very pleasant staff. Been here many times and will return again and again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
22/02/2017: My first dinner visit with my wife. A nice dining room if a little too dimly lit for us. The food is vey good, particularly the scallop starter and venison main. The roasted root vegetables side was good too. We didn't have deserts because the 2 courses was plenty. The service was only average for a place of this quality. One girl who served us was efficient but just had a manner which wasn't particularly welcoming and we asked a second girl for our bill and it never arrived so we just paid when leaving.

Fratelli

Galgorm, Ballymena
24/02/2017: We were on a dinner bed and breakfast package deal. Great restaurant. Great dinner. We shared 4 mini starters and 4 mini deserts. If you can't finish your pizza they'll give you a take home box. I had a beautiful seafood linguini with lots of fresh seafood in it. The deserts were all cream based e.g. Cheesecake, tiramisu, ice cream , ganache etc..

Roark's Kitchen

Kinbane, Moyle
13/02/2017: We found this little place by mistake on a Sunday drive around the coast! It was a very breezy cold day so we were happy to find somewhere to shelter and get warmed. The staff were so friendly and couldn't fault them one bit. There were about twenty cakes to choose from so we couldn't say no!The coffee cake and the chocolate cake was great! We will definitely be back again!
07/02/2017: We were invited for a tea by a local lady on our way to Ballintoy. The cafe is placed in a picturesque surroundings and quite famous too (there's even a plaque featuring one of the HBO's GOT characters - Theon Greyjoy). It's a great cafe to enjoy your friends' company. We had only a cuppa tea but there was also a large variety of homemade cakes.Friendly and welcoming staff.

Mermaid Kitchen and Bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
20/02/2017: We recently visited Port Rush in northern Ireland; was there, we were recommended to try the mermaid restaurant. We were certainly very pleased that we followed up on this recommendation. We were told people traveled hours to drive to this restaurant and came from many miles away, to eat there.Having now eaten there ourselves, this is very easy to believe. It has a great buzz this fear about the place; stuff are amazingly friendly and helpful; but the food and the value for money is possibly I'm supposed in my own personal experience.I have been fortunate to eight in some amazing restaurants, and various parts of the world; but the food at the mobile restroom is as good as I have ever had before. However, the value for money, is without doubt the best value for money I have ever experienced. The menu covers pretty much everything; the haps leaning on wonderful fresh fish locally caught. This restaurant is very hard to beat; on any level; and I will do all I can to get back from London to Portrush to eat at the Mermaid whenever I can.Oh one last thing, presentation , especially of the deserts, is breath taking. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and outstandingly good meal: and so very cheap for the quality provided.Go there if you ever can: it will not disappoint....!
18/02/2017: Well worth a visit and would highly recommend. Stunning views from the restaurant and very friendly staff.

The French Rooms

Bushmills, Moyle, 20-30£
22/02/2017: Really enjoyed our evening here. Fabulous food and good service. Tables v close together so it was lucky we knew the couple beside us as there was no chance of any privacy. The conservatory area was closed so this may account for the close proximity of the seats.
20/02/2017: A few work colleagues and myself made our way up to the coast for a little treat. It's lovely inside and food is very well presented, but as I have special dietary needs I asked for the burger to come plain. Apparently there are already made up and wasn't available plain. Have yo say that with the quality of food they offer, I was very disappointed!

Tartine Restaurant at The Distillers Arms

Bushmills, Moyle, 30-45£
25/02/2017: Bushmills has some very good eating spots but one of our favourites is Tartine. Lovely menus with lots of choice for all tastes. On our last visit we had a delicious roasted plaice with garlic prawns ...this was especially good as are all the fish dishes. The staff are knowledgeable and the wine list is far reaching. We always take visiting friends here and look forward to dining here again. We've heard the Sunday carvery is good. Can highly recommend.
24/02/2017: The restaurant and bar are tastefully decorated, and staff were attentive and friendly, although no one offered to take our coats. That's not a problem generally but stools / wing chairs don't make it easy. The house wine was good and reasonably priced. We both had crab brûlée as a starter which was ok. The brûlée bit was breadcrumbs charred with a blow torch, and as the dish was served very cold, the topping just left an unpleasant taste to the crab. My husband chose a duo of pork, which seemingly had a menu copy/paste error in its description, as it suggested the pork fillet and belly pork would be accompanied by boeuf bourgignon, as well as carrots and potatoes. When it arrived it did indeed come with beef stew.... We were stuck between feeling that as a restaurant it had no idea about a balanced plate or foods which compliment each other, or a restaurant which felt it couldn't explain a menu error? I had lemon sole which was over cooked to mush. It was served with huge tiger prawns which felt separate rather than an enhancement, although were cooked beautifully. The dish came with perfectly cooked samphire, and an enormous portion of dauphinoise type potatoes, which took up over half the plate. All in all everything seemed ill-matched and poorly balanced.
