Townhead Hotel Bar Restaurant

Annandale North, Dumfries & Galloway, 20-30£
15/03/2017: called a few hours before and they could fit us in. when we arrived served by the same lovely girl who had answered the phone. all were kind, friendly and welcoming. food was tasty and reasonably quick. definitely recommend
15/03/2017: Went for a lovely meal one evening here. Whilst the service was slow at taking our order the food made up for it. Lovely meal with presentation to match. Could not fault at all. Highly recommend. Will definitely return. Only advice would be to not use the online booking app, we did for a Saturday only to then receive a call to advise they were not able to accommodate the booking.

The Cobbles - Freehouse & Dining

Kelso and District, Scottish Borders, >100£
19/03/2017: A group of us, over twenty had a very pleasant lunch. Good food and nice atmosphere and catered for a reasonably large party with all being served within a few minutes.
16/03/2017: Me and the other half paid a visit while on a day out in Kelso. Chose this establishment after reviews on Trip Advisor, looked good from the outside and was a Best Bar None Gold Award winner. Went in and found the staff friendly welcoming and helpful. The establishment itself was airy, fresh and welcoming. Ordered the Angus burger and pulled pork. We were advised how long it would take to cook the burger and asked if this was ok. 20 minutes wasn't long and we'll worth the short wait. Food was presentable and tasted absolutely delicious. Would recommended this place to anyone and will be visiting again if and when in the area.

Casa Mia

Mid and Upper Nithsdale, Dumfries & Galloway
19/03/2017: We visited as a family of 26 for a surprise birthday lunch. Most of the guests had been before and thoroughly enjoyed their meal. However, on this occasion some were left feeling a little unsatisfied with the meal. The starters went down a treat all except the bruschetta that was for a more unique taste I'd imagine. The mains were of a large portion which was fantastic and they came out pretty quick after the starters dishes had been taken away. Can't fault the mains atall. There wasn't much choice when it came to puddings. Sadly there was what looked like a pubic hair in one of the cheesecakes. This was disgusting and enough to put anyone off their food let's be honest. The waitress did apologise but at this point a replacement pudding just wasn't going to go down very well. The beer that was in the deal was a tequila beer and all the drinks were kept coming. Sadly a couple of the bottles were out of date only by a month however this should not be being served to customers it's just unacceptable. All in all it was a successful meal minus the hair and out of date beer! Sadly, Not too sure we would rush back as it seems to have lost a little bit of their usual touch.
19/03/2017: Fantastic food and drink at reasonable prices. Set menu had plenty of choices. Seemed to be clean plates all around at the table we were at - there were 4 altogether. Will be back - possibly consider as a choice for group meal.

Brodies

Annandale North, Dumfries & Galloway
18/03/2017: Called in for lunch on our way home having been there last year for dinner. We both had the ploughman's with ham which was delicious and very reasonably priced. Had a nose at the new gin bar they have opened and it looks fabulous. Can't recommend this place enough, food setting and service are first class
17/03/2017: Just returned from our 4th/5th visit to this wonderful restaurant. Without question enjoyed one of the finest dinners I've had the pleasure of eating (and I include the so-called world's greatest in London, Paris, NY etc. etc.). Who would have thought it would take a trip to Moffat Scotland to find the 8th wonder of the world! Service was first class also.

The Rialto

East Berwickshire, Scottish Borders
18/03/2017: Visited here whilst in a day trip out with my Mrs. Never been to Eyemouth and wanted to see what everyone was going on about. When I first saw the Rialto I was impressed with the bay window seating, the people there were lounging and looked very relaxed. We decided to give it a try. As we sat down the owners came over for a chat, a very friendly couple who made us very welcome indeed. My wife and I ordered a tuna melt pannini and coffee, probably the best panini i have ever had absolutely delucious, the coffee brilliant too. Wee gem, give it a try. On leaving the owner advised us of a local harbour,Burnmouth which he said looked like something from Moby Dick.We visited that too !
16/03/2017: Passing through Eyemouth on the way home and happened to call in here. Lovely atmosphere and fantastic owners, they were constantly helping out their elderly clientele and checking everyone was happy. The special coffee brewed on a Chemex and the chocolate and raspberry torte were delicious!

Polarbites

Dee, Dumfries & Galloway, <20£
13/03/2017: Never seen such a lovely range of different fish. All so fresh and tasty. Polar bites is so handy just next to the harbour square, exceptionally clean friendly and if you want to eat in it also has a licence so you can book in and take your own bottle of fizz.
10/03/2017: Visited quite by chance on a day out to Kirkcudbright and what a find it was. Apart from the traditional offerings for a fish and chip shop they had some fantastic surprises such as monkfish pan fried in rosemary butter and sweet potato chips. Everything cooked to order and so fresh. Staff friendly and efficient and the restaurant was modern and bright. Good one!

Coltman's Delicatessen & Kitchen

Tweeddale West, Scottish Borders
17/03/2017: Finally managed to take my husband for a wonderful meal in Coltman's! The food was out of this world! The lamb was cooked to perfection! The cocktails also were a highlight! Staff were fantastic and attentiveHighly recommend
17/03/2017: While in Peebles for a birthday we selected Coltman's for a quiet birthday dinner that would accommodate our different diets (one person being vegan). Since the dining room is reached through the front cafe, it doesn't present itself a place of fine dining. But it is. Just don't expect too much in the way of atmosphere or even cosiness (it was February and the room felt chilly, but less chilly than the upstairs bar which bordered on cold.) The food was good, the wine choices utterly acceptable. So "recommended" but go for the food, not the atmosphere.

Campbell's Restaurant

Stranraer and North Rhins, Dumfries & Galloway
13/03/2017: We were on a family break to Portpatrick and spotted Cambell's Menu on a walk round the village. Not being sure if it opened during the dull, dreich days of February, we had spotters out, looking for signs of life on the Tuesday evening. Well, the lights went on just before six o'clock, and by seven we were sitting in a window table watching the cold outside world and the decorations of the welcoming dining room. We all ordered from the set menu, which was amazing value for money. Fresh fish, locally sourced beef and imaginative presentation. None of this nonsense of supplements for the things that you really want to try. Fixed price meant fixed price and it was a memorable meal. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed what was placed before us, but looked with a certain amount of envy at each other choices. It was that sort of meal. We'll certainly be back on our next visit to the Port.
13/03/2017: Excellent fish restaurant service impeccable, table by window excellent view of harbour. Brilliant menu found it hard to choose.would thoroughly recommend this place.good meat choices if you fancy it.

Restaurant At House O'Hill Hotel

Mid Galloway, Dumfries & Galloway
26/02/2017: Met with my brother to visit Bruce's Stone and to dribble whisky over our late Daddy, God Bless him.On arrival, very warm welcome and immediately fell in love with a limited edition print by a local artist....hence the fortune but actually very reasonable at £80 for a great print of some "Belted Galloways" now on our wall in Oxfordshire and looks great.Menu looked great but we're not there for food, wine was nice though!!See you next time and thanksXxxx
10/02/2017: Very solicitous. Honest on booking that the main restaurant was being refurbished and so offered the "snug" which had 4 tables and a fire: most welcome with the freezing weather. The menu was interesting with plenty to chose from. The highlight was decidedly the braised ox cheeks in sticky sauce. Will definitely go again and be first on my list when visiting the area.

The Clansman Restaurant

Wigtown West, Dumfries & Galloway
05/03/2017: Been here several times and the food and service have always been top notch. They have a very good choice on the menu and everything is fresh and lovely.
03/03/2017: We were recommended to eat here by the owners of our B&B, and it didn't disappoint. Great food, happy to do two starters instead of starter/main for my wife who has a small appetite. Friendly and efficient service, decent beer and wine, surprisingly busy on a Wednesday night in early March, so booking is advisable.

14/03/2017: This is a lovely place to have a meal or just a drink ,we had lunch and couldn't fault it at all ,the staff was very helpful and pleasant , by the time we left all but one table was taken which says how good it is ,would definitely recommend,
20/02/2017: I always enjoy a meal here while visiting in the area and am never disappointed.Locally sourced food is a big attraction for us and the menu is never predictable or boring but instead varied and interestingAs usual we were not disappointed .My vegetarian sweet potato beetroot frittata with puy lentils etc and my son's roasted rabbit dish with chive mash and winter roasted vegetables were excellent. The Inn is very attractive externally and internally with many interesting local things to look at.Looking forward to my next visit already!

Osso

Tweeddale West, Scottish Borders
15/03/2017: this fine establishment belies the subdued exterior - herein lies an imaginative team who are careful and clever the bread was excellent while the fresh fish was stunningPudding were all up to the standard, but I am still regretting the abstemious streak that occasionally surfaces and I passed on the Chocolate Fondant - this was a mistake that I will not repeat! Not expensive when the quality of food is considered.
06/03/2017: when lived in Edinburgh used this coffee shop a lot it was call the silver spoon when first visited my children where quite small at that time and loved to go their for treat and have soup and cake. They still use coffee shop when in Pebbles just like we do. Still serving great coffee and service is as fast as you want to go. Great staff two girls front of house are a treasure very helpful. In fact taking friends their at some point in the next week (8th =10th march) as we are staying in Peebles

Claudios Restaurant

Annandale North, Dumfries & Galloway
14/03/2017: Visited with my husband whilst spending night in Moffatt. Visited a couple of years ago and as nice, if not nicer, than I remember. Friendly staff, clean and pleasant environment. Nice selection of food, including vegitarian options. Good wine selection, we selected house red which was lovely. Good value for money too
13/03/2017: My wife and I just visited on Sunday night. Always advisable to book. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. I had the pasta carbonara as a starter with a pizza main course and was too full to finish !! Have been here several times over the years as Moffat is a great stop off point on the way to the western isles and Loch Ness.
