Mid Formartine, Aberdeenshire
25/02/2017: Having been here before I knew it would be amazing and I wasn't disappointed. I couldn't fault a thing. The decor, staff, menu selection and food was out of this world. I always enjoy going here and can't wait to go again.
20/02/2017: Recently visited for the first time as part of a family birthday celebration. We had a private dining room which made the visit extra special. The menu also had Happy Birthday at the top, which was a lovely touch. We went on a Saturday evening for dinner, so there was just the dinner menu with 4-5 choices for starters, mains and desserts plus appetisers and sorbet course and coffee/tea with petit fous. I was happy with the options available, as that was a concern for me - I am fairly picky when it comes to the type of meat available. There were vegetarian and fish options too. The selection of startes and selection of desserts was brilliant, as we got a taste of everything. The home made bread was also delicious. I really enjoyed all the courses, everything was very well cooked. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome without being intrusive. The kilted chef stopped by as well, which was a lovely touch. The only downside is the location, if you are looking to have alcohol with dinner. We got a taxi from Ellon, which was alright. But would be more difficult from Aberdeen. I would return, but perhaps for lunch next time and keep weekend dinner for special occasions.

Shahi Darbar

Inverurie and District, Aberdeenshire, >100£
22/02/2017: If you are around Inverurie looking for a place in which to have a dinner, this is the place to go. The food is excellent and the crew is nice and very kind. One on the waitress is also able to speak some Italian, so I won't feel so lonely and alone....I am sure you will enjoy Shahi Dabar in Inverurie
21/02/2017: Excellent in every sense: decor, quality and presentation of food as well as service. Real Indian quality food but served with the best global standards.

Madame Mew's

George St / Harbour, Aberdeen City, <20£
21/02/2017: Joanne & i went to madame mews for a spur of the moment lunch when we had a day off and it was a stroke of brilliance. Walking into the market you would never guess that you could find such good Thai food. We ordered duck spring rolls which were good and crispy to the bite. Jo ordered pad Thai while I ordered chicken in tamarind sauce with honey. When they came (very quickly) the portions were generous definitely enough for most to fill up.The food was very good, the tamarind chicken was excellent & a great choice, similar to shredded chicken.Only negative no prawn crackers when we went however the food itself made up for this. We even got a box to take home the leftover pad Thai.Definitely going back again.2meals 2 drinks, and a starter to share all for under £20! What's not to like!
18/02/2017: We had lunch here today. Menu comes with pictures to make it easier to know what each dish is. Food was healthy, full of vegetables and very authentic. No frills, but who needs them for lunch?Pleasant and helpful staff.Large portions and inexpensive for the quality. Will definitely return.

Cafe Boheme

Torry / Ferryhill, Aberdeen City, 20-30£
23/02/2017: Atmosphere is cosy and quaint, food is fantastic and very tasty and service was personal. Would recommend.
19/02/2017: Really really really good. Atmosphere, service and food outstanding. Mussels, duck confit and venison. Plates licked clean.Espresso martini to finish, boom!Waited on by a rock star too!

Tolbooth Restaurant

Stonehaven and Lower Deeside, Aberdeenshire, 45-60£
22/02/2017: Ok had Lunch here, actually travelled here specifically - we had the lunch time set menu, the food was amazing and good value for money (something I'm finding out all over this area) For us the service was great we had a extremely interesting conversation with the owner (but we did also engage in conversation two way thing !!) so for us it gets six stars for Valve, Taste & Location - Brill !!
13/02/2017: We visited this restaurant on a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. From when we went in the door we were looked after by attentive and friendly staff. The food was great, fresh produce and very executed. Good wine list also and wonderful selection of drinks.

Jewel in the Crown

Torry / Ferryhill, Aberdeen City, <20£
04/02/2017: Nice range good choice. Busy restaurant. Very friendly staff. Busy but did not feel rushed. But expensive but worth it.
26/01/2017: Was recently back for another visit to the jewel with my friend i had shami kebab as did my friend for starter then chicken exotica my friend had chicken jeera mushroom rice and a garlic nan the whole meal was lovely. As we were leaving i noticed a well none tv chef at the next table on speaking to the waiter he said he was a regular when in aberdeen which tells me how good it is there but i already knew that anyway. Another great meal at the jewel.

The Lochnagar Indian Brasserie

Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside, Aberdeenshire, 20-30£
18/02/2017: Arrived at 8pm and took until 8:45 for our order to be placed. Regardless of very slow service, food was excellent.
14/02/2017: We booked in here as soon as we arrived, as the last twice we have stayed in this area, we gave had lovely meals here. Tonight was the same. Friendly, attentive service and deliciously freshly prepared Indian dishes that stray away from the norm. Only downside is the frozen desserts and filter coffee. Would recommend.

Nooks and Crannies

Fraserburgh and District, Aberdeenshire
25/02/2017: After tasting this soup, all other soups have become obsolete - try at your own risk! Your sandwich will only become an instrument for dipping into said soup which incidentally might be the BEST sandwich you'll ever have. Regardless of how full you become remember to take a piece of cake away - words cannot describe the cake (we'll try... delicious, a little piece of heaven...). Staff are just wonderful. If you find something to complain about, take a little look in the mirror you might be the problem...
25/02/2017: Lovely place, lovely people. For lunch I chose the soup and a sandwich option and had beef and caramelised onion which was heavenly. This is the third beef sandwich I've had in Fraserburgh and the only one that didn't taste like shoe leather (I won't name the other two establishments)! The cream of chicken soup was to die for, and lived up to its name. My husband had cheese and chutney and said that the addition of apple made it really refreshing. For pud we had banoffee pie with cream and rhubarb bakewell. Both home made and scrumptious. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming and I can't wait to eat there again.

Merchant Bistro

George St / Harbour, Aberdeen City
01/11/2016: Met my mates here for a long overdue catch up for dinner and some drinks, and must say it was just amazing. The atmosphere is great, the staff were lovely, the setting is beautiful and the food was just perfect. Really reasonably priced also. Can not wait to go back. Keep up the good work.
29/10/2016: Really enjoyed our evening. The food was beautifully presented as well as delicious. Staff were so attentive. We would highly recommend Merchant Bistro.

The Bothy

Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside, Aberdeenshire
25/02/2017: We were on a coach excursion to Braemar and stopped up for lunch. Our driver recommended this restaurant for homemade soup and a roll for lunch. With that purpose in mind we got off the coach and headed as quickly as we could to The Bothy.Menu limited but adequate. There were two types of soup available, Brocolli and Stilton and Carrot and Parsnip. Real homemade soup..very good.As the whole coach followed us into the restaurant table soon filled up and the queue was out of the door.
24/02/2017: We love the Bothy and try to visit whenever we are in Braemar. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, family oriented and a varied selection of food and home baking. Lots of outside seating when the weather is fine and the dog can then come too.

The Bay Fish & Chips

Stonehaven and Lower Deeside, Aberdeenshire
22/02/2017: Takeaway fish and chip shop but very high standard. On Saturday night waited 30 mins to be served. Lots of hype and it was justified, very good fish and chips. You need a car on a cold night to eat in but great views over the bay make it a bit special.Next door is a ice cream parlour to finish off your meal!
18/02/2017: The fish and chips are amazing and freshly caught. There are only 2 picnic tables and the line is long but it's worth the experience.

Birdhouse Cafe

Banchory and Mid Deeside, Aberdeenshire
20/02/2017: Ordered the food expecting a reasonable delivery time but was waiting for nearly 2 hours for it to arrive. Food quality was good, but we were starving. Delivery service needs to seriously change.
11/02/2017: The premises may be small but the coffee is very good, the home baked cakes and muffins are out of this world. They are always fresh and there is always a good selection. Their Victoria sponge has cream and fresh whole raspberries in the centre.

Midstocket / Rosemount, Aberdeen City, 20-30£
22/02/2017: We were taken here by my daughter and her husband on a trip to Aberdeen. My daughter had booked for lunch on the day we were due to leave and as we were taking the sleeper train back to London had plenty of time for lunch. i am really glad we had time to enjoy the truly amazing food. We were as a group two veggies, one vegan and a nearly veggie! The food came as meze I lost count of the number but 10 dishes i'm sure passed over our table. All of top quality and the hot dishes especially had such depth of flavour. The decor is as you would expect and my photographs show what I mean. There is easy access for less able diners.
22/02/2017: We visited last night after a recommendation from a friend as to where to eat. This is a great restaurant. The food was delicious and everything beautifully cooked and presented. My partner loves lamb so had some great choices. There were many other options on menu. Highly recommend the meze. We tried Turkish red wine which came at right temperature and was very good. The staff were attentive but in a quiet and polite manner. Excellent meal in a busy restaurant with good atmosphere.

India on the Green

Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside, Aberdeenshire, 20-30£
19/02/2017: We visited India on the Green on Saturday 18 Feb 17. We were visiting (from Glasgow) and enjoyed a real treat of Lamb Madras and Vegetable Garlic Chilli. This was by far the best Indian meal we've had for a long while. The taste and texture of the food , staff and setting were perfect. If only this restaurant was in Glasgow!
16/02/2017: Stayed near Ballatar during February half- term. We had two delicious takeaways. Chef very helpful providing vegetarian choices.

Moon Fish Cafe

George St / Harbour, Aberdeen City, >100£
16/02/2017: restaurant was recommened for lunch by friends. no hesitation in passing on the same advice. yes it was quiet at the lunchtime we went.....but were there to enjoy the food. tastes were intense and service good. what else is needed?
13/02/2017: I went there for lunch. Very cramped sitting arrangements, and no atmosphere. The service was fair but had to ask a member of staff to take my coat. The food was very tasty and good quality, but the main course looked more like a starter. The portions are extremely small, and one would need to order at least three courses to feel you had a lunch. Unfortunately the prices charged for the food, especially at lunch time are way over the top. Do not even think of having a glass of wine, as this is equally over the top.
