Hogarths @ The Craigie Inn

Kyle, South Ayrshire, >100£
19/02/2018: Took my daughter here for afternoon lunch, food was brilliant and the owner was very accommodating. She spent the time to have a lovely conversation with my four year old daughter, making her experience there that much more enjoyable. Will definitely be back.
18/02/2018: Had an early evening meal on Saturday night . Food from starter to dessert were very , very good for both myself and my wife . Only fault was my wifes Seabass , off the specials menu , was too much for her to eat and possibly the mains followed the starters too quickly .

Vanilla Joes

Irvine West, North Ayrshire
12/02/2018: Visited this place last night ice cream cookie dough is lovely good prices well worth the money staff are really nice girls very busy place
10/02/2018: Award winning icecream. Especially love their warm desserts served with any flavour of ice cream. Have bought take away tubs for our freezer too.

Savoy Cafe

Ayr West, South Ayrshire
14/02/2018: I was in the town on a business trip and came across the gem of a restaurant and was also intrigued to visit having the same name as the restaurant, the owner was very accommodating and steak was one of the best I have had, perfect cooking and taste. Would highly recommend visiting if in the area.
10/02/2018: The staff looked after us very well, and the food was outstanding. The pork and chicken dishes were both from the Specials menu, and they lived up to expectations. Our server was very chatty and interested in us, which we appreciated. We headed back to Edinburgh after a long day in Ayrshire with a very positive view about this restaurant.

Varani's Forum Cafe, Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock West and Crosshouse, East Ayrshire
03/01/2018: Still remains the best place in Ayrshire for ice cream. Our family have been going here for 20+ years and we still haven’t found anywhere that does such an excellent selection of ice cream. Best in Ayrshire for sure!!! Just some of the flavours available : Nutella / strawberry cheesecake / Fererro Rocher etc etc as well as all of the old favourites and sorbets too. They regularly have low fat options too
22/12/2017: If you want great ice cream then this cafe is the place to visit. Plenty of flavours to choose from. Staff are all very friendly. Parking outside the shop.

The Dancing Midge Cafe

North Coast and Cumbraes, North Ayrshire
28/01/2018: Brilliant staff and the food was superb - recommend the homemade soup. Nice to see somewhere open in the winter. A wee gem !!!
06/12/2017: Always welcoming, always good food. Great for breakfast, great for kids. My grandson's favourite cafe Thanks

Kirkmichael Arms

Maybole, North Carrick and Coylton, South Ayrshire
16/02/2018: Had our Valentines Day meal here as my partner used to come here as a child and thought it would be a nice wee trip down memory lane. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was lovely and service was great! The young waiter was very friendly and professional! Will definitely be returning!
05/02/2018: After falling into disrepair the Kirkmichael arms was fully refurbished under new ownership. The basic layout of the building remains with a pub / dining room layout and now includes a small craft shop however the decor is all brand new with a smart clean facelift while retaining the warm atmosphere. Fresh in the summer and cosy in winter.

Cafe Thyme

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire, 20-30£
18/02/2018: Great setting with awesome views out to sea. Managed not to over order this this time and I enjoyed a lovely big bowl of soup with freshly baked Turkish bread and a slice of delicious cake. The decaf Americano was excellent too. Service was quick and friendly. Looking forward to going back in the summer when we can sit outside with our dog.
28/01/2018: Lovely meal and friendly staff in a beautiful location. Recommend the Pide - Turkish style pizzas - very good!

The Old Pier Tearoom

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
21/02/2018: Great wee cafe - always busy with regulars and tourists. My favourite dish is the homemade pork and onion sausage roll, beans and chips but I also love the homemade soups. Cakes and coffee are excellent with a great choice. They also sell lots of flavours of the local Arran ice cream which I would thoroughly recommend (not all once!). A big plus for us is that the cafe is dog friendly. Service is friendly and efficient. The only thing it doesn’t have is outside seating which is not possible due to its situation unfortunately! But what we sometimes do is get a carry out coffee and cake and take it 40 yards down to the beach and enjoy our carry out there whilst taking in a stunning view of Holy Isle. Would thoroughly recommend!
17/02/2018: We visited today for a quick bite of lunch and then took away two different gluten free cakes. The apricot and chocolate cake was by far the best gluten free cake I have ever had. The chocolate cake was also delicious.

Stags Pavilion

Irvine West, North Ayrshire
18/12/2017: Not only is the food extremely good, but this small restaurant's setting, right by the golf course, is both beautiful and unusual. Most of all, the owners were warm, friendly and exceptionally accommodating. A rare case where you felt that the proprietors' overriding concern was genuinely the customer's well being, rather than turning a profit. We noticed lots of regulars enjoying themselves that night.
26/11/2017: whenever I go, whatever the time of year, the welcome is warm, friendly and the food delicious. The seafood linguine was light and flavourful and the whisky truffle cheesecake light-as-feather and melt in the mouth.

Little Rock

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
19/02/2018: A good selection of food - served by happy staff but essentially a sea side cafe. Prices are average and food served is good.
14/02/2018: One of the best baked potatoes I've ever had. Hummus and sunblushed tomatoes with a decent side salad. Very good coffee too.

Rutherglen Central and North, South Lanarkshire, <20£
20/02/2018: The staff are just lovely, so friendly and attentive. The chef has a great talent because the food is just lovely. Would highly recommend!!
19/02/2018: The Bistro is a great restaurant and totally deserves the great reviews it receives! Local people I know rave about the food there as well as the ambience! My fiancé and I had a lovely time there last night for my birthday! So, I was very shocked to read Sunlover Rutherglen’s bad review on 17th February. This person mentions cleanliness is only on the surface (well where else would it be? ) . There’s also mention of a glimpse of the chef’s stained apron. Well, you can’t even see into the kitchen at all because the door is always shut. As for the food poisoning ( your review is poison and lies) . As for the member of staff being aggressive I suggest your review is aggressive lies. Sorry for rambling on but I hate unfairness in life and this review is just a pack of lies! Wonder why? This restaurant is totally undeserving of this review and you know it ! And it is great that such a mean person won’t be back!

Taj Mahal

Clydesdale East, South Lanarkshire, >100£
04/02/2018: Excellent, Service and meal. I had Kalahari tikka chicken, partner had lamb. We will definitely be back!
09/01/2018: Quite an over priced curry house compared to what were used to but the reviews were good so thought why not. My curry was bland and overly thick. I asked for chicken tikka and it tasted and looked just like chicken breast. My husbands curry wasnt much better. You dont really get your moneys worth and i wouldnt return. I can only think its rated so high because theres not much choice elsewhere in the area.

The Sandwich Station

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire, <20£
17/11/2017: We happened upon this when our friend was showing us round her Island on our first proper visit to Arran. Loved the choice of sandwiches and breads - all freshly prepared to order. Delicious and would definitely recommend!
09/11/2017: Popped in for some pre walking fuel and I was delighted with the results - superb sourdough bread from the local bakery filled with cheese, salad and a homemade wild garlic pesto - my friend had a blue cheese and pear sandwich which was received just as well - really friendly staff and there's a wee spot outside to take in the view over Lochranza - oh and the sandwich was so big it lasted for two lunches. This will be my first stop next summer.

Wildings Hotel and Restaurant

Maybole, North Carrick and Coylton, South Ayrshire, 20-30£
21/02/2018: Had another great meal where choice and value for money are always excellent. Staff are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable.
21/02/2018: We had dinner, not for the first time or the last. Soup and then sea bass. Wine and a Gin and Tonic to finish. Food and service was excellent.

Stage Door Cafe at the Gaiety

Ayr West, South Ayrshire, 20-30£
21/02/2018: Being a Vegan it is sometimes hard to be accommodated but I could not fault the chef here. Burritoes with salad and fries. Lovely but too spicey for me. However the manager deducted the price of my meal from the bill even though I had eaten the fries and part of the burrito. My partner and uncle both enjoyed their meals and waxed lyrically about the mashed potatoes and chicken for days. Gorgeous sorbet for me and highly recommended cheesecake for the others. Excellent all round meal.
18/02/2018: Having a pre-theatre meal with friends and was very pleasantly surprised
