Vanilla Joes

Irvine West, North Ayrshire
16/08/2017: A lovely choice of beautiful ice creams and sorbets to choose from, I've visited a few times now and it's always busy - so much so, that seating is a real problem. Needs a massive extension to be able to cope with its popularity.
09/08/2017: ice cream was just the job and staff were very nice and the kids got what they wanted the only.down side was it was very busy but they were very good at getting you served quickly and with a nice smile .

The Sandwich Station

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire, <20£
20/08/2017: Our review is a bit limited here as we didn't eat any of the sandwiches... We had already eaten lunch but fancied an ice cream. Glad we stopped by - these are absolutely delicious! We were disappointed at first as there didn't seem to be any cones for sale. Maybe there are but we don't think so. Either way, we didn't ask because we spotted the pots and didn't want cone any more - these are absolutely delicious! We had the whisky one and the caramel one... a long way in front of Haagen Dazs or Ben and Jerries! The prices are high but not extortionate and it's worth it for the quality. We suspect this is reflected in the sandwiches too, what we saw on the plates of other customers looked wholesome and tasty. When we visited the lady working in the shop was friendly and helpful. We were asking questions about the ferry crossing and she gave us some good advice. Glad we stopped by.
18/08/2017: Really, really tasty sandwiches in a very scenic location - what more could you ask for? More than able to cope with a teenager who likes his sandwiches a bit plainer than the ones on the menu!

The Black Bull Tarbolton

Kyle, South Ayrshire
20/08/2017: I have visited this restaurant on 2 occasions and both times I have been I have been very impressed by the quality of food and just wished I had tried this place out sooner as I live local, I will definitely be returning again in the future. Also the service is equally as nice as the food. Thanks again.
11/08/2017: Been a while since iv been here (actually thought I had already done a review) can't fault the restaurant or the staff.. food is well presented and lovely.. my biggest issue is simply the menu.. I don't like fish and not a lover of red meat but I can eat it.. I love chicken.. 1st time I went I just did not like the chicken dish I got ( I'm sure it was well cooked and lovely) it just wasn't to my taste.. next time I practically couldn't find anything on the menu I liked.. as my kids love chicken nuggets it's often goujons wen u go to a restaurant.. so I would never order myself chicken nuggets.. I had no choice but get the curries chicken goujons. Which r lovely but just not something I want to eat in a restaurant. Iv been bak a few time and had to order the goujons every time.. hopefully they can cater for more tastes. X

Varani's Forum Cafe, Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock West and Crosshouse, East Ayrshire
10/08/2017: I grew up with the beautiful vanilla ice cream on my gran's apple pie for many years. I haven't visited for a few years as I live down south, but the great flavour is still an absolute joy. I got a vanilla for my youngest as I knew she was too small to finish it all meaning I could eat the leftovers. My son had a double cone with candyfloss and Scottish tablet. Unfortunately I never got a look in for either of those flavours. I had a double cone with Red Kola and condensed milk flavours. The taste of both brought back great memories of my childhood. The ice creams were so smooth and creamy. It's great to see this magnificent ice cream parlour still doing what it does best after all these years. It would be even better if I could get some back home.
09/08/2017: Best vanilla ice cream to have with a pudding on a Sunday. If not wanting vanilla a wide variety of flavours to choose from.

Little Rock

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
20/08/2017: Only visited for a drink but loved the experience...Super friendly and helpful staff ..would definitely dine here ..
Prezzi onesti e vista magnifica.

14/08/2017: good selection of mainly scottish food, enjoyed a birthday celebration. service was very good and food was of a high standard.
12/08/2017: Took Austrian and Ukrainian friends with experience of many restaurants in Europe to Auld Raes for dinner. I had praised it to them and was worried that they might not agree but after the first course they were delighted. We had a super meal, Haggis for all as a starter and service, food and value impressed them Chef Patron Darren had a word with us after the meal and we were all very ready to say our experience was first class. The restaurant was packed and there was a great atmosphere of happy customers enjoying their food. what a treat as always!

The Three Reasons

North Coast and Cumbraes, North Ayrshire
16/08/2017: Visiting this pub for the first time and we were only planning to have one drink here. We liked the pub and the staff were welcoming and polite. The rest rooms have a great smell of mint which is a pleasant change from some we have been to. This pub also allows you to bring in your dog as long as it behaves and not aggressive to people. We only ate chips and that was only through choice as the other dishes around us looked great and plates cleared quickly. Friendly little establishment and I will definitely be back with friends and my dog.
16/08/2017: We came here after a recommendation from a local ice cream parlour. Great choice! Family friendly, good food, huge portions for the regular meals. If you order the smaller portion it may be more suitable for older folk with reduced appetites.Very good value! Don't miss a visit to this place.
