Aberystwyth Rheidol, Ceredigion, <20£
13/03/2017: I have been here many times and it's always delicious I'm not even a huge fan of fish but love it at Pyscoty! It's very friendly and helpful, the service is excellent can't wait to go again
12/03/2017: My husband is a sailor and grew up by the sea so he has a brutal judgement on the freshness and skill in cooking sea dishes. He's also an ace cook! So I was so happy I could take him somewhere really really good where he didn't complain once! and actually paid compliments for once.BE SURE TO BOOK if you want a table as it's very small and deservedly popular. Also it was very warm inside so bear that in mind on what you wear.Pay and Display’ car park directly opposite. FREE after 6pm.

15/03/2017: Another visit to Checkers and it did not disappoint. Lovely spacious room, Agen, very clean with great furniture, cookies were lovely. Would definitely stay again. Food was excellent and at least one course was changed for me. Great service and I can't recommend it highly enough. If you lIke very good fine dining you need this on your must visit list.

Creme Pen Cei

New Quay, Ceredigion, <20£
01/02/2017: It's our tradition, every time we come to New Quay we have to get an ice cream and watch the dolphins on their pier. There are so many flavours you can't even pick! There is one with honeycomb in which is so delicious! The views of New Quay are perfect to look at whilst eating some yummy ice cream!
20/10/2016: This was, flat out, the best ice cream I've ever had in my life. Do not ask question, do not think about your diet, do not ask if you've had enough - go in there, try something new and simply experience ice cream at its best.

Latte-da Tearoom

Crickhowell,Llangattock, Powys, <20£
19/03/2017: Popped in for a coffee and cake. Pleasant staff, a calm ambience and good coffee and cake. Free WiFi, and judging by the almost full tables, is a popular venue.
19/03/2017: My wife and I visited the Latte-Da following our walk along the River Usk and the canal and were ready for a nice lunch. We were not disappointed. The staff and manager were very welcoming and the décor is lovely, a great place to relax. Lunch was of good quality (jacket potato, sandwiches and coffees) and we will definitely return when we re-visit Crickhowell. * The Latte-Da only accept cash just to let you know before you arrive (there is a cash machine 20 yards down the road!).A great tea-room - thank you.

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion, 20-30£
19/03/2017: we were here for the evening, a beautiful conversion of an old property, including a bookshop room and a fruit n veg corridor, adjacent to the Event dining room where we were. Bottled Beers and Softs from the eclectic menu worked well for us. Excellent Hummus n Flatbread for the hungry.
18/03/2017: Superb - excellent choice of menu. Service excellent and food gorgeous. Great selection of beers, salads and desserts. Rhubarb sorbet excellent. Inexpensive.

Little Italy

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion, 20-30£
15/03/2017: Visited on Sunday at sat at the window table, which usually has to be booked 2 weeks in advance as it is very sought after! The ravioli starter was exceptional with the best homemade cream sauce I've ever tasted. The bruschetta was also delicious and you can choose for three topping choices. My chicken main was accompanied by a cream sauce, sweet potato fries and salad but you can have it with a different sauce, veg, chunky chips or Tuscan potatoes instead. The portions are very large and well worth the price. The chicken breast was succulent and tasty. The pizza is as good as the ones I've had in Italy and are all homemade. The staff were very friendly and attentive but not overbearing, service was fast too. Overall, pricing is very reasonable and the menu has a very wide selection. it is definitely somewhere to visit and I promise you won't be disappointed!
13/03/2017: Cosy venue nicely decorated but the food was rather bland. I eat in a lot of Italian restaurants and this one has been the biggest disappointment so far. Staff really nice and friendly and parking fine.

Gwesty Cymru

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion
15/03/2017: we were staying in a hotel down the road but heard here was good for an evening meal so we gave it a go and i am glad we did, the staff are friendly and food is to die for.
07/03/2017: We stayed at the hotel and had dinner in the restaurant.Good starters and great steaks. Fantastic atmosphere.Love to come again...Wegard from Norway

The Red Kite Cafe

Melindwr, Ceredigion, <20£
19/03/2017: Dropped in for a breakfast on our way down to Pembrokeshire.Enjoyed so much we made sure we were able to return on our way home. Chose the burgers which were delicious. Will definitely be returning on our next visit. Good food, very homely & friendly.
19/03/2017: This place is a little gem on the lovely tourist run in and out of Aberystwyth. The staff are really friendly (and I have to mention Betty lest I incur a pain worse than death!).The food is superb and I really recommend the sweet potato chips :-)If you drive past you will have really missed out on a great piece of magic.

The Station Restaurant

Llansantffraid, Powys
26/02/2017: We have eaten here once before and I am pleased to say the standards of food were as good as last time. However, on our most recent visit, service at the bar was a little slow and two of the three draught beers supposed to be on offer were "off" - Disappointing for a beer lover The food was excellent including the vegetarian option chosen by one of our friends . Advance booking is advised at busy times We will definitely visit again. Graham and Pat
26/02/2017: Well what can I say again but first class thank you to Julie and the staff for making tonight really special was so nice the food was out of this world and so much to choose from of the new menu so happy I decided your restaurant never disappointed service was great everyone helpful really special treat thanks again

Restaurant at The White Swan

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys
15/03/2017: Our family ate at the White Swan on Friday and Saturday night. The food was excellent and and the staff were friendly. The locals obviously like to frequent the bar, and were watching the Wales-Ireland rugby match on Friday night and were dancing and singing on Saturday night. The restaurant and bar are in separate rooms and not much of the noise from the bar reaches the restaurant. Be sure to make reservations--we got in without a reservation on Friday night and expected the same on Saturday night, but were surprised to find it packed when we showed up! We ended up making a reservation for later in the evening because we didn't want to go anywhere else.
13/03/2017: Went to the Swan for a meal with friends on a Saturday night. Both the restaurant and bar were very busy but service was fast and friendly. We all had lovely meals with good wine, the atmosphere was great with live music in the bar, will definitely be back again!

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion
18/03/2017: 17th March, a long ride back (on Motorcycle) from Cambridge, okay to start and then the temperature dropped, really stinging rain and gale force winds as I entered Wales. What kept me focussed was thinking that I could probably manage to get into Joe's with my wife for supper. And we did. Ohh! Those massive garlic prawns for starters and then a fabulous steak, no chips (not my idea of best accompaniment), great salad and beautiful rice. Brought our own Rioja... Repaired me enormously!
18/03/2017: We had a lovely meal at this restaurant. The lamb kofta kebabs were excellent, though the sides that most of the meals come with (rice, salad, carrot) could be more varied/interesting. The fact that the restaurant was BYOB was a bonus surprise, and the meal was very good value. The staff and chef were also very friendly, and the restaurant is centrally located.

The Hungry Trout

New Quay, Ceredigion
18/03/2017: Our family loves this restaurant and we often (too often!) take the 2+hour journey there just to have lunch. The seafood-based cuisine is excellent and it is all cooked from scratch. That said, we heard today that the scampi is bought in, which seems right and proper! The specials board of fish and seafood is always, year round, so exciting and attractive. Today we thoroughly enjoyed crayfish and mussel stew. Puddings - not necessary but couldn't resist - were scrummy: cheesecake, chocolate sundae and ice cream. Chef, staff and sea views delightful.
18/03/2017: From the moment we booked until we left was a special experience. Excellent food, good staff (even the trainee) and good ambiance. Highly recommended.

Fforest Pizza Tipi

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Teifi, Ceredigion, <20£
15/01/2017: I love this place - when visiting Cardigan during the Autumn half term week with my wife, we are here! The pizza tipi has such a good vibe to it, it has a sort of "camp" feel to it where you can sit on benches round a fire to eat your food (or alternatively sit by the water). Another great touch is the music they play (or we're playing when I visited) which I would describe as a vintage genre.Great food, great value for money, cannot complain!Definitely worth a visit!
09/01/2017: If you are in Cardigan, eat and drink here. The pizzas are amazing and the craft beer likewise. The atmosphere is amazing being right next to the river with the two fire pits in the tipi. Even though it was cold and wet outside, it was cosy and warm by the fires. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely be going again.

St John's Place

Hay, Powys
04/03/2017: My wife and I were in Hay for a weekend and she booked this for us one evening. As others have said it's in a central position but only open 2 evenings a week. The dining room is small, with tables quite close together. It's a beautifully simple menu. Only 3 choices per course. We started with an alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktail. I had the former and my memory was it had pear and still beer in amongst other things. In honesty if there had been something else I would have chosen it! But, it was delicious, as was my wife's non alcoholic version. Along with that we had some lovely nuts and bread. The food itself was wonderful. I had a beautifully cooked duck, on a plate full of contrasting yet complementary ingredients. My wife had fish, ditto. The desserts were imaginative and again full of flavour. We both loved this place and would definitely return.
01/02/2017: Superb freshly prepared food. Brilliant flavour combinations. Limited menu but excellently chosen. Well worth trying something you wouldn't normally choose as there is always an extra twist to her food that manages to make the simplest thing exceptional.

Cariad Cupcakes

St. Mary, Powys, <20£
13/03/2017: Been here many times for the luscious cup cakes which are to die for. I also asked them to make a special birthday cake for my partners 50th and it was stunning and very yummy to.
28/01/2017: Cariad Cupcakes are amazing and home made! They are very large and quite expensive but after all they are amazing and hope made. There is a huge range of different cupcakes on offer too! :D
