Penceunant Isaf Tea Rooms

Llanberis, Gwynedd
19/03/2017: We were back for our annual jaunt to Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa this weekend. A group of friends from Marsden, West Yorkshire have been doing this for a few years now, usually in January. So this weekend it was a bit more crowded on the mountain and down in the cafe - but Stefan and the team made us as welcome as always. We were (like everyone else) soaked through. But the roaring fire, coffee and bara brith did the job. Cheers Stefan!
17/03/2017: My friends and I started our adventure at the Pen y Pass Car Park on 16th March 2017. We climbed Snowdon via Lliwedd with the intention of descending along the Pyg Track. The weather was terribly cold and bleak. Torrential rain and freezing conditions. We were soaked to the bone and morale was getting low when we reached the top of the Pyg Track and discovered the descent was blocked by snow and ice. We made the decision to descend via the Llanberis Path. After 7hrs of battling the elements we discovered this gem of a tea room. We were greeted by wonderful people and invited in to get warm and dry with no expectation for us to order anything and they even ordered us a taxi to take us back to Pen y Pass. We were given hot drinks, delicious cake and a lovely tour of the tea room by the owner. Our dog was also made welcome and given dog treats. Everybody was so friendly and hospitable - they went above and beyond. After such a long and difficult day we thought we had found heaven in this tea room. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Pen y Ceunant tea room for a service second to none and we look forward to returning on our next adventure.

22/02/2017: So was having a week away in Anglesey in half term and visited Caernarfon castle so afterwards we wanted ice cream and we noticed this quaint little shop well wasn't disappointed such a lovely place lovely staff lots of choice and good value for money. On the Hill

Ruthin, Denbighshire
16/03/2017: Love the tasty homemade bread, nachos and dips served while you wait for your meal! Always a good choice on the menu of great tasting well presented food to suit all tastes. The services is excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. Just a great place to go with a wonderful atmosphere. Now they offer a choice of great tasting cocktails too!
14/03/2017: Stunning meal and cocktails. Had a lovely atmosphere. With curtious staff, On the Hill is definitely worth a visit.

Dolgellau North, Gwynedd
19/03/2017: Unique atmosphere, fresh local produce. Friendly efficient staff. + cyber cafe upstairs!Home made cakes etc. varied menu to suit everyone.
15/03/2017: Very quaint old fashioned setting. Huge selection of cakes, which we were taken through at the counter, including lemon drizzle cake with cream, Humming bird cake, Victoria sponge, Coffee cake, chocolate & Guinness cake, at least 3 varieties of brownie, and many more! We went for lemon drizzle & cream and humming bird. Both were very light, and delicious flavours ... not too much cinnamon in the humming bird. We had tea and a flat white to accompany, both very good. Staff were friendly. There is free wifi, for those who want it. they also sell food to take out ... we bought some cheese scones to go (not tried at time of writing, look delish). They also do some savoury options, including breakfasts, omelettes, bacon rolls. Lovely place with really lovely staff and top quality food.

Y Sgwar

Porthmadog-Tremadog, Gwynedd
19/03/2017: Our first visit to the restaurant we will certainly return the food was very good so was the service we would recommend this to anyone who likes good food and wine

The Crown

Aberffraw,Rhosneigr, Isle of Anglesey, >100£
15/03/2017: Visited the Crown last Saturday as a couple .Arrived early for p.m.d. The bar area itself is small but cosy. The menu is not to complicated with meals to suit most palettes. The food was tasty, home made , with generous portions. The staff where friendly and attentive. Would definitly recommend the Crown will have no hesitation in returning in the near future.
13/03/2017: Husband and I popped in late afternoon on a Sunday. Tasty home made food and friendly service, will be back!!

Seiont, Gwynedd
16/03/2017: I'd heard a few people talk about the pancakes from here so we decided to give it a go. The restaurant is nice enough, quaint and clean. Staff are friendly and the yarden provides a nice view. The menu is not as big as the prices, so I was expecting great things when I ordered my specialty pancake. Sadly I was disappointed.I received an average sized pancake with a mediocre serving of my chosen filling sparingly sprinkled on top. Yes it was tasty and hot, but at just under £8 I was also expecting to be well fed and I wasn't. In my opinion the charges are far too high for what you get and I won't be going back.
07/03/2017: What a find. We decided to pop in after spotting the ice creams through the window a few days previously and my god we were glad we did. I sat at a table out the front in the drizzle (although covered) whilst my husband and 3 year old daughter went inside to choose. We were ushered inside and out into the garden room in the back where dogs are welcomed and even given a dog biscuit which was lovely. My daughter loved her marshmallow ice cream, my husband thoroughly enjoyed his double tub and I only just managed to finish my syrup pancake with ores ice cream along with one of the nicest hot chocolates I've had. There was also a little chalkboard, paper, crayons and colouring pens in the garden room which entertained the little one whilst we finished our drinks. The staff were also so polite and friendly that we are already thinking how soon we can return to try the other flavours.

Top's Restaurant

Craig-y-Don, Conwy
12/03/2017: Fantastic service, quality food. One of the best Chinese meals we have had. Service was fantastic too.
11/03/2017: 50 visits and counting! Fabulous food, great choice, wonderful service and reasonable prices. Whether it's an early tea or a family meal, this welcoming restaurant never disappoints and everyone I've recommended also continues to go back.

L's Coffee and Books

Conwy, Conwy
19/03/2017: Small but delightful coffee shop serving great coffee. We were lucky and didn't have to wait for a table but it would have been worth it if we had.
15/03/2017: The cafe was quite busy when we arrived but there was a warm welcome as soon as we came in! We decided to sit outside because it was a sunny day and the garden looked lovely! Pot of tea and a coffee with steamed milk in a pot (nice touch) came quickly. Bacon on toast and sausage on toast came soon after which we were surprised by with how busy they were. All came to £10 so not cheap but not bad as it was high quality and a lovely setting. Garden would be difficult to access for disabled customers and pram. Would defo recommend!

Seiont, Gwynedd, 30-45£
11/03/2017: We visited this restaurant last night, definitely didn't disappoint. Food and service was faultless, couldn't recommend highly enough.
08/03/2017: Went to Blas on a whim when visiting the castle. Two families with young kids for lunch , good food , good service and would go again

Chandlers Brasserie

18/03/2017: What a lovely restaurant!! I had the prawn starter, lamb main and the raspberry creme brûlée for dessert and my partner had the fishcake starter, pie main and brownie for dessert-Amazing food and really good service-thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Chandlers. Cannot fault the place. Diolch!

Ty Hyll - Ugly House

Betws-y-Coed, Conwy
13/03/2017: After leaving the village of Betwsy Coed we walked 5 miles along the river and stumbled on this wonderful place. Not only was it a quaint, unusual cafe but the food and especially the tea and cakes were amazing.Staff were super super friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We will certainly be stopping here again now that we know where it is and I urge you all to try it.There is some parking next to the building or you can park on the other side of the bridge in the large car park which is where you could go to walk off the cakes.Alternatively, take the small walk around The Ugly House and take in all the flowers and plants. You can smell the honey in the gardens. They also had gluten free cakes.
27/02/2017: Stumbled upon this beautiful little building as we were driving back from our snowy walk.. realised it was a tea room so thought we'd grab a drink. When we got in, there was about 5 tables and a lovely fire keeping the place warm.Couldn't resist getting a sandwich eyeing up another customers!Lovely little place, great staff and a quality menu. If we're ever back in the area, we would definitely re visit.

Sosban and The Old Butchers Restaurant

Cadnant, Isle of Anglesey
13/03/2017: On Saturday 11th March a group of four enjoyed an amazing array of tastes in the understated but exceptional Sosban. The service was delightful with an excellent balance of care and attention and detailed information for each dish. All food was a feast for the eye presented in a wide range of lovely dish ware but as hoped for and delivered the taste of the food was the highlight. Very course was delicious with unusual combination of ingredients which fused to tease and delight. It would be redundant to choose a favourite as each dish hit the spot. We all hope to return although we understand that it could be a long wait but we will definitely make the journey again.
02/03/2017: Stunningly informal Michelin starred restaurant.Manage to get a booking 4/12 in advance.Had heard good reports and was not disappointed, the food was stunning , 9-10 dishes of varying size but all intensely flavoured and not a single weak dish. Every course left you wanting more of it , too many to discuss each dish but some stand outs included a crispy chicken skin with intense mushroom purée , salted leaks and grated dried egg yolks that was stunning as well as venison and beetroot with smoked yoghurt. Front of house pleasantly informal and although didn't have matched wines, every wine on the wine list was available as both bottles or single glasses at no extra cost allowing you to try a wide range of wines. The concept of a menu less meal is exciting as you wait in anticipation of the unexpected next course, although does make choosing wines more difficult. Will certainly be returning at the earliest opportunity.

The Berwyn Restaurant

Llandrillo, Denbighshire, 20-30£
14/03/2017: We came here for family meal at the weekend - my parents have recently moved to the area and this was our first family meal out in Wales - and it was absolutely superb. The menu caters for vegetarians, fish and meat eaters, but no mention of vegans (which I am) - when we called to query, we were advised that they'd be able to 'accommodate' - which I assumed meant they'd make one dish and that's what I'd be having...Well, I couldn't have been more wrong - the owners had been out to source specific vegan produce (including soya milk, tofu and vegan cheese) - and provided me with a multiple choice menu they'd crafted, with SO MANY incredible options (see photo). I was absolutely blown away with the effort that the owners (Debbie and Ivor) had gone to - and the food was just amazing! Fresh, well flavoured and cooked to perfection - this included the meat dishes also, according to my family.I had a delicious, creamy blue cheese and mushroom pate tart to start (all vegan) and a roasted butternut squash, stuffed with edamame bean and leek risotto - accompanied with vegetables and specially made vegan dauphinois potatoes - all stunning. My family also raved about their dishes, particularly the koftas to start, and the lamb and venison mains. I can't wait to visit again! Thank you!
14/03/2017: Visited here tonight with friends, warm welcome by Debbie. Delicious food as usual cooked by Ivor. So much choice of home made desserts on display. Lovely evening can't wait to visit again soon!

Red Boat Ice Cream Parlour

Beaumaris, Isle of Anglesey
14/03/2017: Great place for both coffees and ices. Only negative is that it's too small for seating and you can't go upstairs with ice creams while papa has his coffee and cake. However, a superb range of imaginative ices flavours and the coffee is great too.
12/03/2017: This is a must if you are in or near Beaumaris and like real home made ice cream. A fantastic variety of flavours both traditional and unusual.
