Penceunant Isaf Tea Rooms

Llanberis, Gwynedd
24/02/2017: Steffan is so entertaining and friendly trying to do everything he can to make you comfy . Dogs treated to own water bowl and treats . We were welcome to sit in any part of their lovely quirky cottage . You can even eat your own sandwiches for free . They even offer to dog sit if you want to leave your dog with them ( no charge ) Conversations with other customers flow in this friendly place . Food and drink superb but hilight is the superb welcome . Out of this world .Dont ever think Welsh are not friendly . Quite the opposite . We will return !
22/02/2017: What the locals won't tell you is that this cafe is here and it is open all year round. The cafe is also dog friendly, apparently the only dog friendly place in town.We were warmly welcomed, despite being drenched through. A blanket was put out for the dog along with a bowel of water and a couple of biscuits. The staff were very engaging, wanting to know who we were and converse with us, which is charming and not like any other cafe I've been to. They brought out the most amazing hot chocolates, which I can only guess were made with real chocolate and clotted cream. We had a couple and some cake was given to us too. The owner set us up in the tearoom when another friend with an excitable dog joined us, making the effort to encourage him in through an alternative door. After a quick nose around the accommodation we departed, sad that we couldn't have that delicious hot chocolate all year round. Many thanks for being so welcoming and accommodating. Please, please, please keep these lovely people in business by drinking all the hot chocolate you can.

17/02/2017: Lovely ice creams, shakes, coffee and Welsh cakes. The bannoffee milkshake was particular good! A great spot for a sweet treat after looking around the castle

Breaktimes Cafe

Porthmadog West, Gwynedd
22/02/2017: Perfect to fill up for the day when visiting the area. Lots of choice. Cafe is clean and staff are friendly and helpful. Food and portions very good.
14/02/2017: We discovered this hidden cafe by chance on the industrial estate and what a find. They think of everything. Fabulous choices, or make up your own to suit. Excellent food, unlimited good coffee, complimentary orange juice, clean, friendly, spotless toilets & even a baby change facility. And a good price.

Deganwy, Conwy
15/01/2017: We've dined at Paysanne a number of times over the years but have usually left feeling something was missing to make our meal a really memorable one. It may be we are unfairly comparing it with some of our favourite French restaurants. The standard of cooking is good, though not adventurous, and I would personally prefer it if quantity gave way to quality at time. The welcome is warm, and there is always a demand for places so it is wise to book ahead. However whilst understanding the need to have a certain number of covers to maintain profitability, do tables really need to be so close together?
11/01/2017: We found this restaurant on the Internet and decided to give it a try.It offers French Food which was excellent. The owner was very welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We had an enjoyable meal and will definately return.

On the Hill

Ruthin, Denbighshire
22/02/2017: I would highly recommend a visit to this place but make sure you book in advance as it's a small venue and is very popular. The staff were great and food was delicious. I will return to this visit in my next visit to Ruthin.
22/02/2017: Tried to book a meal some time ago but was fully booked. Decided to chance it and visited the place in the afternoon. By sheer luck, a table became available just as I walked in for later in the evening and I am so glad it was. the meal was to a very high standard and as it was a Michelin recommended restaurant, I thought the prices would have been a bit steep - how wrong I was - prices on a par to standard places and the food and wine were both excellent. The staff were very attentive too - everything about the evening was excellent, including the table by the window which we thought was one of the best in the restaurant - highly recommended and no wonder it gets fully booked

Salt Marsh Kitchen

Tywyn, Gwynedd
25/01/2017: We haven't book in advance, just turned up and were offered seats outside. It was balmy summer evening so we didn't mind. The food was trully delicious and service extremelly friendly. Would definately visit again when in this area.
06/01/2017: I visited this restaurant between Christmas and New Year with my Husband and our 5yr old. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely. The look and feel of the place was warm and inviting (I look forward to returning when the extension is completed)...then to seal the deal, the food was outstanding! I had Scallops on a Tarragon Risotto to start, Lamb for main and a lovely banana and rum crumble for pudding. Each course was divine! I was also thrilled with the way they catered to the needs (demands) of my daughter who loved the spaghetti bolognese, but doesn't like the sauce and pasta mixed together. They were more than accommodating and she had a really lovely experience. She enjoyed the food so much she ate most of her dad's too! (his slow cooked Lamb Ragu was delicious so you cant blame her really)! We will definitely be back next time we are visiting the area! Our annual break in Tywyn has definitely been improved by the discovery of this lovely restaurant!

Poachers Restaurant

Criccieth, Gwynedd, 30-45£
13/02/2017: My partner and I enjoyed a lovely meal here. The menu is quite interesting and unique, with lots of local produce to chose from. Everything we ate was lovely and the service was good too.
06/02/2017: We were staying in Criccieth for a short weekend break, and although the food at our establishment was more than adequate, we decided to venture out on Saturday night to try some of the local establishments. Our visit was out of season, so we were very fortunate to have been able to get a table without prior booking, and although we were tempted by a number of other establishments, my partner and I were both very tempted by the great choice offered by Poachers. I am a Pescatarian, so for me the concept of poaching was not immediately appealing, but the fantastic sounding dishes offered for both vegetarians and pescatarians meant that both my partner (definitely a carnivore!) and myself decided we would both be well catered for. This, indeed, was the case, I was torn between Goats Cheese and pickled herring to start, but after a much-needed suggestion from the lovely waitress, I opted for the pickled herring - which was absolutely beautiful, no standard rollmop here (which incidentally I do enjoy also!). My herring was pickled in a lovely sweet vinegar which gave a wonderful sweet and sour combination, which served with a lovely fresh salad and fresh bread was a wonderful start to the meal. My partner had rabbit, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and for main course I opted for a fish stew, which was delicious and full of different types of fish, all cooked wonderfully, and no hint of a bone anywhere. It was served with rice, which I didn't manage as the stew was so filling, but nice to have as an accompaniment. My partner had pheasant which again he thoroughly enjoyed, as someone who is particular about how bird is cooked (I've had chicken criticised on numerous occasions!) he devoured the pheasant in its entirety! He also noted that the chips was possibly the best seasoned he'd had, and didn't add salt or pepper to the ones served at Poachers! I also sampled a couple, and they were very nice, so definitely recommended! We couldn't manage dessert, I am sorry to say, as the choices were very tempting, but the liquor coffees we chose instead were very tasty, and considering we had apertifs, a bottle of wine with the meal, and liquor coffees, as well as two courses, the price was extremely reasonable. I would absolutely recommend Poachers, the staff were polite and friendly, and were very accommodating. The decor is lovely and there is a nice ambience... considering how busy it was on the cold, winter night when we visited, I would certainly recommend Poachers to anyone, and would probably also suggest booking!

Y Sgwar

Porthmadog-Tremadog, Gwynedd
25/02/2017: First visited about three years ago,was good then.Went for lunch today, food excellent, staff very attentive, especially Alan Carrs younger brother. Will definitely be going again.
19/02/2017: I was staying in nearby Porthmadog with a colleague while we were working in the area and we decided to try a restaurant we hadn't previously used. My colleague found Y Sgwar on Trip advisor and as we were parked across the road, we ventured in. What an amazing place, the food choice was fantastic (I had the tempura Prawns and topped those off with a perfectly cooked, medium rare fillet steak)Service from Iolo was second to none and great value considering this is fine dining at its finest.(I know it isn't good etiquette to photograph ones meal, but I couldn't resist)Y Sgwar is certainly up there in my top 5 ever. Thanks

The Crown

Aberffraw,Rhosneigr, Isle of Anglesey, >100£
14/02/2017: lovely pub to go for a meal or drink after a walk on the beach, dog friendly and very good value for money, home cooking at its best, will definitely go again, sky sports included.
13/02/2017: This pub is amazing the food is 5* restaurant quality and it is deserving of a Michelin star. We have never had a bad meal here, a word of warning though you must, must book to avoid disappointment, I would personally recommend the lamb or the belly pork these guys can make beans on toast look like it has come out of the savoy grill.

Seiont, Gwynedd
23/02/2017: This is the hardest review I have written.Arrived to be told that there were no tables. When I asked when would be a good time to come back or if we could reserve, it was as if the person did not care and we were told some time later. We decided to try again later and did get a table. The server was young, and enthusiastic even if it was obviously her first day. Ordered pancakes and drinks and then waited and waited and waited. When the pancakes came they were great, interesting toppings and taste. So, more people cooking and better service would get more stars, but accept this and you will not be disappointed by the food.
22/02/2017: Popped in for a warm drink and cake. Staff were friendly. Good quality hot choc and latte. Delicious brownie

The Coconut Kitchen

Abersoch,Llanengan, Gwynedd

Amelies Cafe Restaurant

Conwy, Conwy
20/02/2017: Went there on Saturday night with my husband. Good choice of food. Good welcome from friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Would heartily recommend.
20/02/2017: I ate here on the Friday evening of my visit. It's a tea room by day, and only open as a restaurant on Friday and Saturday evenings. However, it definitely felt like a restaurant in the evening, with attentive staff and excellent food.A real gem of a place...

Top's Restaurant

Craig-y-Don, Conwy
22/02/2017: My wife and I decided to eat out after I collected her from. I had seen Tops online I decdied we would try it. We received a warm welome and we were escorted to a table for two. A basket of Prawn Crackers was placed on the table, we munched through them whilst choosing our meals. My wife chose Chicken & Pineapple I chose Shrimp Curry. We had drinks and I must say the Carlsberg was in excellent condition. The food came nice and hot and look wonderful and tasted the same. Service was very friendly, even joked at me being a left handed chop stick user. All in all a great experience, we will certainly go again. Best Chinese meal we've had in a long time and in lovely clean surroundings.
18/02/2017: My husband had booked us a table for our wedding anniversary last night, I have wanted to dine here for a long time. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived at 7.30pm but we were shown to our table straight away and a bowl of prawn crackers brought along with the menus. My husband ordered crispy duck in orange sauce and my choice was king prawns with cashew nuts served in a noodle birds nest, we also ordered egg fried rice and a portion of chips - the food was amazing. The ambiance was cosy, all the staff work hard and were very welcoming and efficient. This is the best restaurant in the area. Can't wait to go back.

Dolgellau North, Gwynedd
24/02/2017: It's quirky and a worthy magnet for foodies. Great cakes and pies with unusual twists, fab coffee, and hearty inexpensive lunches in a unique setting. Bravo Meg, her family and staff for a great experience.
23/02/2017: Don't be put off by the window dressings - this is a gem of a place. The reuse of the old shop as it was (was it a chemists?) is ingenious and the food and service is second to none. We thoroughly enjoy the delicious Welsh Rarebit, steak baguette and full English breakfast, complimented by very good coffee. Great food, great experience and great service.
