Gwaelod y Garth Inn

Pentyrch, Cardiff, <20£
20/08/2017: We were looking for a restaurant with healthy delicious choices and we were not disappointed. Very friendly staff and warm and comfortable atmosphere. We started with a few appetizers, and both agreed the spicy meatballs were our favorite. My husband had the filet and I had the grilled seabass. Highly recommend!
18/08/2017: Go here often on summers evenings for a drink. It's a lovely pub with a nice little front garden and in a nice spot on the Garth looking over the Taff Valley. Friendly staff and great array of beers and bar snacks. Also had a great piece of cake! We haven't eaten here yet but are planning on soon.

The Clink Restaurant

Adamsdown, Cardiff, 20-30£
19/08/2017: Booked up in good faith and completely let down . Hostess blamed the "system" but had no solution of was any help in any way . Do not book unless by phone. Useless service . Very dissapointed FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!!!
19/08/2017: Went here with my mum and her friend. The food was incredible. Very well presented. Nice sized portions. Reasonable prices. We really enjoyed every mouthful. If I wasn't so full I could have eaten it all again. Highly recommended. Food is made by convicts that are making a fresh start in life. They are very talented chefs

Cyncoed, Cardiff, <20£
22/08/2017: This small family run Italian Restraunt hidden away in the suburbs of Cardiff City, would be just as well accepted if it were tucked away in the back streets of Napoli. The food is fresh and the innovated Italian dishes are beautifully presented. The pizzas however, have the 'WOW FACTOR'. (One of my daughters is married to a Italian and I've consumed a few Over the years visiting Italy). The state of the arts wood burner pizza oven is purported to be the secret ingredient, so I've been told. The chef pretty good too ‍! I urge you to Seek this little gem out. You will not be disappointed . But I suggest you call first as their opening times can be rather erratic . It's well worth the find.RJ
20/08/2017: We went out for a meal and had such a lovely evening. It was our first visit and the outside area wasn't the most appealing on a Saturday night but the door was opened with a hugely welcoming smile and warmth. The staff were so humble and friendly and created a great atmosphere. They were attentive and good fun, making our family feel very relaxed. The menu wasn't huge but it was well thought out and considered with a range of foods that would suit everyone. The starters were delicious (calamari cooked to perfection and mushroom buschetta). Then some had veal for main, so tender and others had pizza which were very authentic from the pizza oven. Incredible flavours and I even got to take home the last bit that I couldn't finish as there was no way I could leave it. Thank you for making us feel so very welcome and we will be back soon. Ps the Chianti wine we had, delicious!

Chai Street

Gabalfa, Cardiff, <20£
21/08/2017: I've never been disappointed with the food at chai street, I visit on a regular basis and recommend it to anyone who'll listen. The thalis are delicious, slightly different overtime so you never get bored. The starters are delicious, the drinks are great too. On more than one occasion the service has let them down. On my most recent visit all was going well until my friend and I went to the bar to pay. The man working that day was on the phone and stayed on the phone for quite some time before hanging up and acknowledging us. When we paid he asked us to figure out how much change we would require, once we had done this he took his sweet time counting out the change and giving it to us. I'm a very patient person but his slow style of work was extremely grating. Its a real shame that anything should let this fantastic restaurant down.
19/08/2017: We had a few starters and a main to share between us 2 and we absolutely loved it! I definitely recommend the chicken 65 and chaat. Those starters are amazing. The place is also very friendly with very good service and nice restaurant room.

Nata & Co

Adamsdown, Cardiff
19/08/2017: Have visited the Bute St bakery on a number of occasions and on Friday August 18th a large number of fellow retirement group party guests responded to my recommendation and visited the cafe to sample their delightful Nata tarts. However, while some of us enjoyed our visit most of our guests refused to enter the bakery as a result of the 2 point hygiene rating posted on the door. The cafe had tried to hide it a little by positioning the sticker very low down but still it did not escape the eyes of our party, which was a pity as it is a very pleasant, friendly and reasonably priced establishment.Nata Bakery really must get their hygiene rating improved before the current situation affects their business.
16/08/2017: Called into get some Portuguese custard tarts (pastéis de nata) to take away,They were delicious a definite must visit for sweet treats.

Cafe Citta

Cathays, Cardiff
20/08/2017: Recommended by our daughter, tried a couple of times but always full. Eventually got a table and glad we did as the food, service and ambiance of this small restaurant is excellent.
19/08/2017: Cafe Citta is one of the little hidden gems in Cardiff. A tiny italian restaurant serving amazing food. Perfect place for a Friday night date night. Booking is essential as there is only about 10 tables. If you want proper italian food, a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff here is the place to go.

Shaam Nights

Plasnewydd, Cardiff, <20£
18/08/2017: Visited mid week and have to say that the food and service were both great. The food is really tasty, enough options to choose from and attentive staff. Would recommend.
18/08/2017: We've been to Shaam nights four time in total and have never been disappointed. Decor is authentic, welcome and service is excellent as is the quality of the food. Some may not appreciate the lack of alcohol, but the whole experience is so good, as well as the mint drink and reasonable prices, that we didn't miss it! The first time was prior a Bruce Cockburn gig at the Gate and we are back again soon! It really is worth the visit for such a rich experience.

Mezza Luna

Plasnewydd, Cardiff, 20-30£
30/10/2017: Lovely place, fresh and testy bits
30/10/2017: Good food. Quite atmosphere at the begining.

Madame Fromage

Cathays, Cardiff
19/08/2017: Went here for lunch again today, absolutely fabulous cheese platter and the salads are amazing. Walked around Cardiff shopping and came back for cafe gourmands. Faultless and worth going to Cardiff for.

Mina Restaurant

Cathays, Cardiff, >100£
06/08/2017: Visited here with friends after seeing reviews on trip advisor. It really didn't disappoint - we had the mezze platter between four, which offered 6 different mezze, and all were delicious and fresh! I had the Mashwi Mwshakal, which is a combination of Shish Tawk, Lamb Mashwi and Mina Kofta for main - sooo tasty. The food was all cooked fresh, the seasoning was spot on, and we were absolutely stuffed afterwards. The service was quick, and staff were friendly. The atmosphere was even great with an authentic feel. Great little find, and you won't be disappointed.
26/06/2017: Another lovely time at MIna's, this time we took along our family for their first visit, we arrived early evening on Sunday to a very friendly and warm welcome. The mezza starters for 4 were delicious, with portions enough for my two grandchildren to try, they loved it, we were offered some lovely bread that the owners made for themselves to celebrate the Eid festival.Main courses were a mix of MIna's chicken and MIna's lamb also excellent lamb chops, my grandchildren loved their grilled salmon and fries. Thank you to all the staff at MIna's for making our visit so enjoyable, we look forward to our next visit.

The Hellenic Eatery

Cathays, Cardiff
19/08/2017: Found this restaurant on TA, and decided to give it a try as it wasn't to far from our accommodation. We didn't book a table and turned up at 5.45, on a Friday evening. The place was already busy and the rest of tables were reserved. The owner managed to fit us in on a table for 2, which was reserved for later guests. The mythos beer went down a treat as did the generously portioned starter and main meals. The portions were so big that we both couldn't finish our mains and took them away to eat later. We were out of the restaurant within an hour and it was full by the time we left so I recommend booking as customers , without reservations were turned away.
16/08/2017: We booked a table for a Saturday night and from arrival to the time we left we were looked after. Realy great selection of food. We had a number of starters to have a try of everything and did the same for mains. Large portions, couldn't handle the dessert which was a shame as I have a sweet tooth, but wasn't disappointed with the food we had. Great service, very hospitable owners. Would visit again if in the area

Cathays, Cardiff
19/08/2017: I booked a table for a family get together after a friend recommended the restaurant. I always check Trip Advisor before trying new place and Mowglis had great reviews. I cannot fault the food or the service. We were a party of 7 and our food came out together - lovely and hot with nothing forgotten!Staff were smartly dressed, professional, polite and very attentive. I had onion bhaji to start and they were huge! (Photo shared), followed by Saag paneer with mushroom rice. Absolutely gorgeous. Had a lovely chat with the owner and friend, who told me all about how the restaurant was named.I will be recommending Mowglis to friends and family and will most definitely visit again soon!
18/08/2017: Mowgli's in my opinion is the best place in Cardiff for a curry. The food is always outstanding as is the service by all staff. Prices are reasonable and there are regular discounts offered in local newspapers and online. This is the only restaurant I go to in Cardiff for a curry and I think my friends who come with me quite often would agree. I would advise booking in advance as even on Mondays and Tuesdays it can get busy.

Cafe du chat noir ltd

Cathays, Cardiff
17/08/2017: Lovely place for lunch! Excellent service, friendly and heartwarming, we were lucky to be there on a beautiful day so the whole scenery reminded us of a sunny alley in a Mediterranean island! We had a couple of coffees and shared one of their special of the day dishes, the vegetable quiche, which was exceptional! We couldn't believe how big and yummy the dish was, it managed to make two people full and in a very good price! We will surely return for more, especially after seeing their breakfast menu.Keep up the good work!
17/08/2017: A nice cosy café with some delicious authentic French food . Try the French afternoon tea! Excellent value for money too.

New York Deli

Cathays, Cardiff
19/08/2017: Had a quick lunch stop here in between shopping. It's not posh but does what it does very well. We had a Ruben sandwich and a hot dog and we're both great and £12 including drinks. Served on paper plates and not very many seats ( we got one of the upstairs tables which was just perfect but there were queues once we were seated) but we really enjoyed it.
16/08/2017: great friendly staff, loved the food and so generous in terms of portions! will be back for sure and already know what i'll be getting xx

Cathays, Cardiff, <20£
13/08/2017: Friday lunch for our party of five when the restaurant was particularly busy was very much enjoyed. Chose from the 2 Course Lunch Special and was not disappointed. Staff were welcoming, helpful and efficient and the meal was tasty, well cooked/presented and good value for money.
11/08/2017: Went for an evening meal it was very good with very friendly staff. The food was very good as well. Try the meat skewer they are very good. recommend you book as it gets very popular
