The Canteen

Newport, Pembrokeshire
02/01/2017: Called in over Xmas holiday period - delighted they allowed dogs in our party of five had teas and coffees and some had breakfast which was delicious excelent produce - well cooked and service wonderful. Kath Rhodes Editor Welsh Country magazine
02/01/2017: We had a really enjoyable meal here, after friend's recommend it to us, this place keep's it simple, as in its pizza or burger, but if we want really good pizza with quality toppings, not the standard bought in frozen rubbish then come here. The burgers we really good as well. It was very busy and with it being quite small, I would suggest booking in advance to make sure, having said that we didn't book but were lucky, as the next couple who came in after us couldn't get a table. Next time I want pizza or a good quality burger I'll be back here for sure.

Fire & ice

Narberth, Pembrokeshire
18/01/2017: What a gem of a shop. Handmade ice cream's and sorbet's to die for.....the alcoholic ones are awesome.......you won't want to eat anyone else's after tasting......I go back time and time again for more and they keep inventing new tastes. And a shop filled with local and specialised alcoholic and food products. Christmas present purchasing was so easy....and it's a great place to get that something different for all other occasions for those of us that have what we need but never say no to gifts of beverages. Go explore and experience yourself...you wont be disappointed.
15/11/2016: Visited to sample a few craft beers, ciders and perrys from their amazing collection. Left with a box of different bottles including some splendid stouts. If you are into craft ales or ciders, this is a wonderful place to browse. The proprietor and his partner are experts on their stock and can advise, loved it for the beers and the experience.

27/11/2016: I always try & stop here when I can for a coffee & cake, star service- super friendly, I love popping in! A deliciously different range of beverages & snacks/ treats that few other places offer such as white hot chocolates etc. Very cosy to sit in or quick and lovely to just stop by for a takeaway cuppa in a characteristic little nook right by North beach. We need more places like this!

The Shed Bistro

Llanrhian, Pembrokeshire, 20-30£
19/01/2017: We've been here a couple of times for lunch and dinner and always had a meal that we cannot fault! Scampi to die for! The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. Also love the idea that you can get a take away too...perfect.I would say that the cost is reflected in the quality and quantity of the food! Beautiful location whatever the weather
17/01/2017: We celebrated my wife's birthday with a party of friends and various different fish were selected for the main course - all were large potions, cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. The service was very good and friendly and they even managed to conjure up a vegetarian dish to satisfy a fussy vegan. The main course was very reasonably priced (especially for pensioners in the winter!) but the drinks were expensive, though table water is provided without asking, and desserts were both overpriced.and not as special as the fish.

Ginger

Carmarthen Town South, Carmarthenshire
19/01/2017: My partner took me on our first ever date here, and have loved it ever since, the staff are always so welcoming, friendly and polite. Been regulars for five years and hopefully many more. The staff are very knowledgeable knowing their menus, which is very helpful when making a decision. They are always on top of their service, always good at checking if you need more drinks and if everything is ok. Also, the expanding of the restaurant has been such an improvement for space, its really nice what has been done.
19/01/2017: Best Indian in Wales!!! Im not joking! Fantastic tasty food! And best of all lovely and friendly staff!! Highly recommended!!!!!

There is a great range of cocktails but the real highlight is the glorious food. Stunning lamb and steak, great bread, inspired yet simple starters. Will definitely visit again.

Cnapan

Newport, Pembrokeshire, 30-45£
02/12/2016: My husband and I dined at Cnapan whenever possible during the long time the Lloyd/Cooper family has been running. Lately, eating there with friends the meals have been better than ever. The attention to detail is quite amazing and there is such a friendly atmosphere. But the tragedy is that the restaurant is closing and Judi, Mike and their son Oliver, will be resting during the evenings, apart from special occasions for a larger gathering, I am told. Nevertheless the Bed and Breakfast will still be available and I am told by various friends that just that experience is very worthwhile. Thanks Judi and Mike and I wish you a happy retirment and shall work on reasons to have one of those "larger gatherings".
14/11/2016: We heard that the owners of Cnapan were retiring and decided we had to have one last dinner with our local friends. So we travelled from Sussex for the occasion, we had a superb evening meal which will be long remembered. So just to wish Michael and Judith well for the future and thanks for so many memorable meals and happy evenings when we have been on holiday in the area.

The Kings Arms

St. Ishmael, Carmarthenshire
19/01/2017: This pub is wonderful ... traditional ... roaring fire ... friendly landlord ... the list goes on. It is a rare find indeed these days ... real ale for the enthusiasts ... and a good selection of reasonable wines. The real winner though was the food .... absolutely first class ... one of the best steaks I have ever had ... and the presentation could not be faulted. The staff and landlord could not do enough for us ... a wonderful and relaxing evening for all the family ... many thanks for making the final evening of our post Christmas break so memorable ...
18/01/2017: We were in the area for a friends 40th and visited the pub. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and very entertaining. Ask to see some magic tricks and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. Lovely little village.

The Brewery Inn Cosheston

Lamphey, Pembrokeshire
16/01/2017: Wanted to try somewhere different last Saturday and this is most definitely somewhere I'll be going to again. A fab pub which gives you the feeling of a lovely warm hug. Owners John and Steve are really welcoming and very attentive without being over the top. Lovely country pub decor done traditionally and tastefully. Very good choice on menu and additional 'specials' on offer too. Food is very tasty, plentiful and excellent value for money. Good, friendly service. The owners took time to show us their evening menu which looks beautiful and my hubby and I will return to try this out - I'm sure we won't be disappointed. Can't believe we haven't been there before. If you're in the area, this is a must.
15/01/2017: Attended lunch today at the Brewery Inn, food was delicious and staff really hospitable. It was my wife's birthday and was provided with a glass of bubbly and children treated with bowl of ice cream.I definitely recommend!

Quayside Lawrenny Tearoom

Martletwy, Pembrokeshire
18/01/2017: This is a lovely cafe within a beautiful, relaxing environment over looking the estuary. The food is really good quality and the coffee excellent.Only small inside ,but plenty of seating outside.Service is excellent with extra staff to cope with the summer visitors. We come here often as do others,as it's a lovely day out.Well behaved dogs can sit with their owners outside.
20/10/2016: I came here on a bike ride with a friend and was initially very taken with the location; it's lovely!I love sea food so I ordered the Crab Sandwiches as they're wonderful if done well. Well the crab was really really tasty! There was one little bit of hard stuff in the first bite, probably a bit of shell I assume (Murphy's law) but it was lovely. I was a bit nonplussed at the "more tea vicker?" boring triangles of bread, would have preferred something a bit more interesting, oh and the nachos were totally tasteless and therefore merely a distraction. However the coleslaw and the cous cous were both lovely so all in all a mixed bag. I suppose I'm annoyed really, as the raw ingredients were wonderful but were poorly put together. As an aside, the cakes looked stunning and there was a decent selection of local ales and ciders so it's worth a visit if you're passing.

Plum Vanilla Cafe

Narberth, Pembrokeshire
18/01/2017: A varied menu with 'tastes' to suit nearly everyone; vegan, vegetarian and meat eaters alike. A real find.
15/01/2017: Popped in with my mother yesterday. It was extremely busy, but the staff were very welcoming and suggested we waited in their deli next door. This also has a few seats and we were happy to eat in there. We noticed that the staff member was also very efficient and helpful to others who came in after.Between us, we had quiche, mackerel pate (starter) and a halloumi ciabatta. All were excellent - similar fare can be found in many cafes, but the food had that "bit extra". We were both particularly taken by the salad dressing, which they make and sell.We also had coffee and that was really nice too. There plenty of good products and produce in the deli and my mother ended up purchasing quite a few items, including fresh bread and the salad dressing!Very impressed overall. I'm from the area originally and spend lots of time here. We both felt this was one the best, if not the best, cafe lunches we've had in Pembs.
