This is a little restaurant and the staff was friendly but unfortunately the food wasn’t that good. The steak was burned and tasked burn… disappointing! The waiter told us this is the way they cook it there but honestly why would you pay to eat something that taste like burn?! Too expensive for what they offer. Also they said they would have a trio of Jazz on their page and it was only a guy playing piano. We didn’t like much this experience and we won’t repeat it.

Greater service. Nice wine card. Average food. Poor jazz.

Very exciting and cozy place! We had tartar for starters, it was 10/10, but the hamburger and the piece of meat for the main course tasted of soot/gasol, so I can't recommend them. The food was also quite expensive for not being that good, but maybe we were unlucky. It was a really nice place and the live band was really good, which made up for the price.

This is a truly special place, made special by both the venue and the amazing team of staff. I came here with a small group for a celebration, and we were welcomed with open arms and given a great table. Music was excellent - a knowledgable and talented jazz band playing tributes to the greats - and the atmosphere calming but vibrant. I will never forget that night! Special thanks to Raymond and the team for the supreme kindness <3

Let's start with the good.. the food was spectacular. Every course was excellent. If I had 3 hours to kill again, I'd definitely go back. The downside was they seemed to be very short staffed. Every table was seated and the place was packed but the poor wait staff seemed very overwhelmed. They were moving like mad people but it took 3 hours from sitting down to standing up. The wait staff was very friendly and I have no complaints with them but the management needs to get their act together on busy nights. Every table was grumbling and the frustration was very obvious. Overall, if they had a few more staff it'd easily be a 5/5 restaurant.

From start to finish, our experience at 28-50 by night for our birthday celebration was nothing short of exceptional. The staff, particularly Raymond, Isaac at the bar, and Nadia, went above and beyond to ensure our party of 50+ friends felt welcomed and taken care of. From accommodating our large group to providing impeccable service with a smile, every detail was handled flawlessly. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming . A huge thank you to the entire team for making our birthday celebration truly memorable. We'll definitely recommend for great hospitality!! Thank you lots x

We celebrated NYE in this lovely venue in Marlyebone. We loved the vibe, the music, the food and the service. I would definitely go back!

We dined here on Christmas Day and it was a Christmas Experience we would rather forget. Service was slow as there was more than an hours gap between starter and main course, the so called amuse bouche was nothing other than small sausage rolls that could have been bought from a supermarket! The lamb shoulder was underwhelming and the roast potatoes were more boiled than roasted. I would equate this meal to the sort that one would serve at a funeral of someone you didn’t like at all. They had jazz music but the hard surfaces of the room meant that the acoustic made it impossible to have a conversation. P.S. if you want to have live music in the form of Jazz be sure that your floors are carpeted. On Christmas of all days every customer has the right to feel special and well looked after, and this place did not deliver. I will not be recommending this restaurant.

Unfortunately the festive set menu we had was quite underwhelming relative to price. The music, staff and atmosphere however were superb, but let down by other elements, such as wait times. I would recommend for drinks, but not for a meal.

My wife and I had high hopes for our Christmas dinner at this establishment, complete with live jazz. Despite our 2:30 booking, we found ourselves waiting until 4 pm to start our meal, by which point the musicians had already packed up and left. The amuse-bouche of cold sausage rolls set a disappointing tone, and the ham hock starter was shockingly bad, ranking somewhere between Pedigree Chum and Royal Canin in terms of quality and taste. While the turkey main course showed improvement, it fell well short of justifying the hefty £135 per person price tag. The dessert, a decent Christmas pud and apple crumble, and the port with cheese both managed to redeem the meal slightly, but by then the damage was done. Our overall experience was marred by a lack of greeting at the door and noticeable understaffing, creating an atmosphere of amateurish chaos, pretentiously masquerading as fine dining. Though the wait staff provided good service, they were openly apologetic and judging from the interactions observed on the other tables, were well aware that the night fell short of guests' expectations. Our bill, totalling £270, was spared the optional service charge as a reflection of our dissatisfaction. In hindsight, the potential for a festive evening was overshadowed by organisational issues and a failure to deliver on the promised holiday charm.

The food was good although portions were small (this was for an organised function so may be different normally), the bar staff were great and one of the bar staff kindly made me a custom cocktail which tasted great! Location is great and atmosphere is intimate but spacious enough

The lamb shoulder was salty beyond belief we had to send 2 plates back to the kitchen. I reordered a rib eye and my friend a cod piece. Took well over 1 hour to reserve with a snotty attitude that blamed us for returning a dish. Astonishing attitude, we didn't leave a tip. The rib eye was salty as well and the peppercorn sauce tasted like salty gravy. Apart from that the love band was entertaining if overly loud.

This is a gem of a place, the live music venue of the 28:50 group. Fantastic wine list as you would expect. Great hospitality team and awesome food. The jazz line up is phenomenal. love this place

I visited the place for the first time last night. Unfortunately, I got very disappointed with the service. When I booked, I confirmed with them that I could have the set menu, but at the restaurant, they said that they do not offer it without booking. However, although I explained to the stuff what happened, they only believed me once I showed the email with the conversation! After after that, they did not even apologise. It was a very slow service and quite disorganised.

Enjoyed a fabulous birthday night last week at By Night! Tam the bartender was brilliant and creative in his mocktail recommendations, and we enjoyed a few each. Nadia took good care of us throughout the night and made the celebration feel so special. Thank you to both! Special recommendation for the vegetarian Tomato main dish and the goat cheese starter! Thank you again.

Visited a while ago. The food was absolutely delicious. I cannot fault them on their food and the drinks were strong and tasty. The duck confit was incredible. The service however, left a lot to be desired. We were running about 20 mins late and called the restaurant in advance to let them know & make sure they’d hold our reservation. They said it was fine and that they’d hold our table. Upon arriving, they said our table was no longer available and sat us at a tiny table (which I’m guessing is for guests who are not eating as it looked like a side table). I asked them how exactly we were going to eat at this tiny table and they ended up seating us at the table we have reserved originally that they had previously said was no longer available… very strange. I’m not sure why they didn’t do that from the start and messed us around initially. The service was also incredibly slow. Our server was very sweet but took forever to order or get anything. The drinks were very strong though and helped me forget about the terrible service. The live Jazz band was cool and there was a nice atmosphere.

Love it! have been a few times, the Addition of Kevin brings more life to the room. Staff are lovely. they just needs a bit of tightening. The singer has a lovely voice, it needs to be clearer. Will definitely be back.

We happened to be in London, and wanted to dine at a place with atmosphere. Boy, did we get that and more! We had a wonderful evening listening to jazz vocalist and pianist Joy Ellis, eating some mouth-watering food, and delicious wines. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and although there was an tiny hiccup with our drinks order, it was swiftly corrected by host Kevin. My daughter is a classically-trained vocalist interested in exploring the jazz genre, and was invited on stage to sing with Joy, rounding the evening off perfectly! We'll definitely be back next time we're in the capital...

Brilliant live jazz restaurant and bar. I arrived for my parents anniversary and Raymond went above and beyond with his level of service. We came on a Tuesday which was quieter and very relaxed. I would recommend checking out the upcoming acts each day to find something you like. The food was amazing and full of flavour. In particular I enjoyed the tuna which was cooked to perfection. The pianist was excellent and even let us a pick a few songs for him to play. I will definitely be returning soon!

We stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant over a year ago and we were pleasantly surprised. Awesome cuisine, service and entertainment. I will definitely be returning when I’m in London. I highly recommended!!

Food was amazing, from starter to dessert. Bread selection, tiger prawns, ribeye steak, and chips had a very distinct taste where it was a bit smoky, very irresistible. Love the infusion of the rosemary in the peppercorn sauce, compliment the steak very much. But I must say the service was what kept me ordering food, cocktails, wine and would've ordered the whole restaurant and that's why I wanna shout out Nadia she went above and beyond, as busy as it was she ensure to check on us and kept our wine glasses top up which is rare to find that much attention to detail for customer service. So because of her service that represents the whole experience, our anniversary was well spent, and I can't wait to find another occasion to indulge in that experience again. Jazz music resonates with us so much, where we were singing some of the songs without knowing all the words, so much so that the head was bobbing frantically. Loved every second!

Excellent food, very friendly (and quick!) service and great music that adds to the atmosphere. Starters: a half dozen oysters. Very fresh, came with a delicious sauce. Absolutely sublime. I ordered half a dozen but wished I ordered more! Main: Rib Eye steak. I am going to make a bold claim that the steak I had here was better than Gaucho’s. An extremely pleasant surprise! The steak was cooked to perfection, the chips were very crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Peppercorn sauce was sublime. Still awaiting dessert but the food, service and music has been so good I had to leave a review. Truly a hidden gem and I highly recommend this to anyone look for an evening of fantastic food and incredible music!

25-50 By Night had such an amazing atmosphere. Lovely date night vibes. The dim lighting and the great wine options really give you the feel of a fancy night out. Even though the restaurant was quite empty on Wednesday evening, the atmosphere was lovely and the whole evening felt very intimate. The performers on the night were fantastic and really made the evening. The food was very good, particularly the starters. We had the prawn and oysters and the sauces on them were very yummy. We had steaks for our main and asked for medium rare, however these were on the well done side which was slightly disappointing but everything else was so lovely about the evening. The staff were very attentive and overall great place to go to.

Amazing evening, service was superb, music was lovely (the house band was playing!) Ray especially made the night great with his jokes, dancing and his attitude! The food was okay, the drinks were great (I had a few glasses of wine and a few cocktails) and the price was much lower than I expected! Overall great experience, I’ll definitely be back when I’m visiting London again ;)

The atmosphere at the restaurant is great. The food was excellent. We had the cheeseburger and fries. Nadia, who looked after our table was totally attentive and made sure that we were happy with our food and drinks. She made the night as she is so bubbly. The Jazz was fantastic!!! Can’t wait to visit again!

Visited after an early session in Ronnie Scott's, nice place, good atmosphere, and just about the right size. Food was decent, service was a little patchy. We always ask if the 'optional service charge' goes to the staff. On this occasion we were informed that it went to the owners, so we had it taken off the bill. So if you're thinking visiting and have a conscience take some cash for a tip.

Music was ok. Mediocre food, poor selection of whiskies and very expensive.

My partner booked us a table for my birthday on 5th of July. We arrived by mistake at the restaurant, but the staff were very kind to point us to the right location, which is literally around the corner. Once we got inside the right location, the atmosphere changed to a very cozy and relaxing one. As we made our way through the table area, Raymond offered us a very warm welcome and invited us to our table, which was in the second row from the stage. Once we decided what we wanted to eat, we placed our orders as the guitarist for the night was performing the setup on his guitar. The food was delicious and came very promptly. Raymond and his colleagues were always walking among the tables, performed regular check-backs on us and topped our water every time we were running low. The jazz was also very nice, with a calm atmosphere, which I very much enjoyed. This is amongst the best customer service experiences I've had in London, absolutely nothing bad to say about them, bravo and 5 stars! 👏 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love this place! I go there after work on a Friday night or when I'm in central during the late hours. Whether it’s quiet or really busy; I get the vibes I come for. Welcomed by lovely staff and live, upbeat jazz music, evoking a cheerful & positive atmosphere. I find myself here tasting many cocktails, wines & dishes. My tastebuds have expanded and for that reason, I love this place! I loved how my birthday was made special by everyone at the restaurant😆. A night to remember. Thank you by night !

Had a lovely weekday night here for my partner's birthday. Seats were around 20% populated which was perfect. Intimate and not overcrowded. Wonderfully talented and soothing singer came on stage on time and did 2 sets! Meal was adequate not amazing but good enough for the experience and waiters/waitresses were attentive. We got an amazing deal with our meal so all in all was a lovely birthday treat for my partner who liked the "speakeasy" vibes. It was quite romantic and not busy on a week day night so I recommend going on those days if you hate the mad crowds of London. Would definitely come back!

Great venue, music was excellent, nice ambience, nice staff. Tuna was overcooked and small for three of our diners, as was the accompanying vegetables, but hake and burger were both good. Drinks service slow to ask and slow to deliver. I think the average 4.3 out of 5 is about right for the venue, if only for the 3/4 out of 5 food and lack of snappy service. Would return though. Management need only make small tweaks for this to hit a 5 all round.

Really disappointed with customer service here. Booked a month ago and just 5 days before my reservation I was informed that my booking was cancelled. Gave me very little time to find another location for a nice dinner.

Average food and service made better by good jazz musicians. This was our first time at 28-50. The main dish arrived while we were eating starters and the side dishes arrived after we had finished the main. I also eat out as I am not a good cook, but I am sorry I too can muster up chewy lamb and potatoes in gravy. The evening was however saved by three talented musicians that played three excellent sets on top of table conversations. £120+ Sorry, other jazz venues for me.

When visiting for my birthday last November, my hubby and I had such a wonderful experience; the staff were attentive, the food okay but the singer and guitarist were exceptional- we were so impressed. We returned again in March, and what a disappointment. The service was very slow and not in sync. The jazz singer we had specifically wanted to see didn't make an appearance? Some man with a beard, playing honky tonk music was on stage. There was no notice or explanation and the music was terrible. We walked out and are unlikely to return. Very sad as we'd been so Iver the moon about this wonderful venue.

Had probably the most amazing night thanks to all of the people at 28-50; it was so difficult finding a jazz restaurant that would take a group of 16 people but everyone here was nothing short of incredible. From the people who helped organise the booking to the servers on the night the service was A*. Food was just gorgeous and the live music was delightful. Thank you so much to everyone that was involved! (I had people text me afterwords noting how delicious the food was and what amazing quality the service was as well!) Could not have been a better night.

Amazing food, location, music, everything! We had the most perfect date night. The food was incredible, and the service was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble, our waitress was so knowledgeable about the menu and recommended a wonderful white wine! Thank you again we can’t wait to be back!

Location molto bella, musica jazz live

The live music was brilliant: the pianist, double bass player, singer and drummer had great harmony and energy, receiving loud applause and cheers from the audience. The service was great: attentive, friendly, built a good rapport and respected your space, gave you time in between courses so you didn't feel rushed. The food was well cooked and tasty- and the options on the menu were wide enough to cover different diets, but selective enough that you know the chefs put time into making those select dishes genuinely good quality. Only criticism is that the sides of green veg had a little too much salt, but again that's personal opinion, some people may love really salty veg! The lamb loin was perfectly seasoned however, and the cocktails were reasonably priced and well balanced flavours! Overall, a cool atmosphere, and a good dinner. I'll definitely be going again

1:45 min waiting for the food. Short of cooks or long of tables. Have been here four times. This is the first time with such bad experience. But too bad to come back. Jazz musicians brilliant as usual.

Amazing food, your apple and rhubarb crumble amazing, the Lamb and Cod for mains just perfect. Wine too. Service very slow and not on it. Had to wait for the wine to come after the mains were served. Had ordered and requested that they were served at the same time so the food didn't go cold.misic so good!! Will came back.

Hostess on arriving didn’t have our booking and initially sat us in the back corner by the door which was freezing. Thankfully they moved us to a better table when we raised this to them. The wine list is rather over priced for what it is. We ordered starters and the cutlery given to my friend was dirty, the waitress did not apologise but shrugged her shoulders and got a clean one. Next the food.. it was either very salty or bland. The fillet steak was tough and not worth the money. The only positive was the lovely music being performed which we all enjoyed. I would not recommend this restaurant though.

Ottimi presupposti ma format totalmente sbagliato. Sconsigliato a chi ha voglia di ascoltare jazz. Consigliato a chi vuole cenare (senza pretese) con un piacevole sottofondo. Il locale è pensato con un servizio incalzante, al fine di far consumare di più o di liberare il tavolo per il cliente successivo. Totalmente in contrasto con lo spirito del jazz, che si nutre di tempo e assapora ogni singolo attimo. Peccato!

Ronnie Who? Wow what a place, I have been twice now, once with a friend and the other for my cousins birthday and I have never experienced better customer service in my life, they went over and beyond to make my cousin feel special! The staff were just some of the most hospitable people you could get! In addition to this the acts performing are top level and the staff provide a plethora of amazing jazz classics in the intervals which you can’t help but sing along to. The venue is underground and really well lit & decorated giving you an ethereal feel to the place! All in all there just aren’t enough words to describe how magical this place is, it is going to be seeing me for many more nights in the future!

Very disappointing place. The jazz singer was out of stage most part of the time and the food is pub qualify just double the price. 28-50 by Night is simply overpriced for what it is. Not recommended. Just go to The Archduke in Waterloo for a decent jazz and dine place.

If you're looking for a classic jazz club, this is not it. It looks like the real thing but the patrons in the back were yelling and partying and really we never got to enjoy ourselves. Kitchen mistakes, spotty service. Glad to have gotten in, but never really impressed with the experience.

We loved this place. Meat was delicious. The jazz concert by Anthony Marsden and band was amazing. The service was also great, we had an issue at the beginning, with our booking that had not been properly registered via The fork, but the lady found a solution and was kind, as the rest of the staff, very kind and considerate during the whole dinner. We had a wonderful last night in London, among swing, amazing atmosphere and Chirstmas songs❤️. We totally recommend it.

Had a great evening here last night. Considering the entry was free the quality of jazz music was top notch. Staff were all great especially the head bartender who was attentive and was more than happy to explain what the name of the club meant. The lady who was front of house was one of the best I’ve seen in terms of attending to all guests with a smile. Would definitely recommend.

This was my first time in a jazz restaurant yesterday and it was wonderful. Raymond greeted us and we chose where we wanted to sit. He asked if we were celebrating anything special, it was my birthday and he brought over a treat for us which was lovely. He was very attentive all night, and told us interesting facts aboutthe place. The restaurant had great decor and was very clean. The band started at 8.30pm and were fantastic. So professional. They took requests and interacted with the guests. The food and wine were lovely too, and we could choose when we wanted our courses. I would definitely recommend this place.

The drinks are amazing, the steak was great but the vegetarian option and the dessert not tasty. And whe we where settings I saw a mouse running around . No unfortunately I paid for the vegetarian dishe and they don't taken off the bill.

- First, we ordered the bread and butter basket — it came with no butter and stale bread - Took 30 mins to order. We hustled to order everything at once since it seemed like our only chance - Then it took 1 hour for the food to arrive - When the food came it was bland and not worth the wait - Rude audience for a live music restaurant - Seemed very understaffed

What a brilliant birthday experience! I would highly recommend this venue to celebrate an intimate special occasion. I celebrated my 40th birthday here last weekend after finding this venue online. I wanted somewhere classy where we could have a private area for dinner with friends whilst listening to some good background music. I contacted them by email initially and received a warm response with all the information I needee. Subsequently the communication by email or phone call answered all the questions I had. As I had never been there, I visited there once during the day (when they were not yet open), and they were very accomodating, and thr manager Ricardo talking me through seating options and other plans. We were given the upper section ofnthe restaurant, which although not a private area is sectioned off enough that it feels private with your party, but can also here and see thr jazz band. On the day we had a couple of waiters dedicated to our party which was nice. Although i had providid a seating plan, thus wasn't done, but to be honest, not having one was a better result, so not complaining about that, except instructions were ignored. What made me glad: - lovely venue and decor, feels really plush if thats the vibe you're going for - attentive manager, listens to your plans and helps you execute - food was tasty too - reasonable minimum spend and party size they can accommodate (up to 30 for a sit down dinner) unless hiring the whole restaurant then can be more - very big wine list - reasonably priced cocktails - the jazz band played happy birthday to me as requested and organised by the lovely manager Ricardo What made me sad - the cocktails are reasonably priced, but more variety would be nice, there was just the bog standard, but to be fair, that might be asking too much given they are a WINE bar not a cocktail bar - all my birthday cake was cut (pieces were too big tbh, esp as guests had just had dessert) so I had none to take home. Not their fault...I should have been clear that ai wanted some to take home - I wish I had heard more of the jazz, there was so much chatter from my party (or the band wasn't captivating enough...🤔) that I don't remember much of the jazz, which is a shame as this is part of the reason I chose the venue. None of the above, is a negative or fault of the restaurant, so All in all a big WOULD RECOMMEND for this venue!

Great venue, great atmosphere. Went on a Saturday night as part of a large birthday group having a pre ordered set menu. I ordered the steak (medium) and chips paid £10 surplus and it was not good quality, very chewy, dry, flavourless and didn't come with any of the usual steak sauce. Left hungry but still enjoying the venue and music.

What an excellent little discovery! I’d heard of the mini group of restaurants called 28-50 and knew they specialised in wine, but the food was a real delight here! Nothing overly fancy but everything we had was packed with flavour and presented really well - highlights were the cucumber gazpacho, short rib croquettes, the duck leg, and the lemon posset (although everything we had was very nice). Venue is a perfect size so wherever you sit you’ll have a decent view of the live music, sound levels are just right, and it’s just the kind of late-night supper club London needs. Riccardo, Raymond and the rest of the team were all friendly too and provided some guidance on wine pairings. The sister venue almost next door does a great lunch offer so we are looking forward to returning soon!

We filmed a music video here. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. The existing house lights are cinematic and they have many different options. Jen, the manager, was absolutely fantastic. She showed us how to use the lights and she helped us with anything else we needed. She understood what it takes to make a film. I will look to be filming here again or at one of the other 28-50 venues.

We shared a wonderful evening here for our friends birthday. The food was delicious, I would highly recommend sharing a few starters or cheeses before ordering mains. The atmosphere and music was superb, and the staff could not have been more polite and attentive, as well as having a laugh with us (Raymond was great!). They coordinated a rendition of ‘happy birthday’ whilst the cake the cake was brought out and we weren't rushed out even as the last table there. Incredible evening, would highly recommend it and will be going again!

Being bitten by a mouse and mocked after is not the best restaurant experience we expect. On the evening of Aug 22, my friend and I went to the restaurant for food and drinks. The staff was really friendly. We enjoyed the night until a mouse bit my friend’s toes and left awound. Things turn sour soon after. After we requested to move our table inside and explained the situation to the staff, a waitress said, “oh sorry, it’s a bad and non-friendly mouse”. None of the team expressed their concern. My friend was worried as we were unsure if it was a rat or a mouse. When my friend went to the bathroom to clean it up, the staff discussed it, saying my friend was exaggerating. One of the staff asked my friend whether she was a touristand mouses were very common in London. (for the record, my friend lived inLondon for five years, and we were well aware of that) Another staff asked tosee the wound, showing his scepticism over our “dramatic” reaction. After we talked to the management about it, eventually, theyapologised and took care of the bill. My friend had to stay at the A&E until 4 am for a tetanus shot and antibiotics. First, I think the staff could have been more concerned. I get that mouses is a familiar scene in London but mocking your customers is not OK. Second, the mouse was running next to our tables, and even though it was anoutside area, it was within the restaurant's premises. I hope the restaurant realised the emotional stress it brought to my friend. As I said, the food and staff were good until the bite. I sincerely hope you will address the concerns and improve your services.

Decent food but very poor service. Staff are decent but slack with service. Food wait times are very long too and food is a touch pricey. Very dark inside too so make sure you take a torch with you lol. Nice atmosphere overall.

Really a lovely place. I go frequently and the jazz is excellent. They have different musicians on different nights but we have never been disappointed. The food is also good, the wine list is great. Overall a wonderful addition to Marylebone.
